Abstract
In this study, three Gemini cationic surfactants related to thiazol-2-amine with three hydrocarbon chain lengths including 3-hexylthiazol-3-ium (TAC6), 3-dodecylthiazol-3-ium (TAC12) and octadecylthiazol3-ium (TAC18) were prepared. Surfactant structures were confirmed with IR and 1HNMR Spectroscopies. Critical micelle concentrations for all surfactants in 15% DMSO-Water solvent were measured using conductometric, refractometric, and densitometric techniques. Thermodynamics parameters were computed and explained. Also, enhancing properties of all surfactants were indicated under the effect of two concentrations, 0.001 M and 0.01 M, of six inorganic salts including Cl-, Br-, I-, Co+2, Cu+2, and Mn+2 radicals using conductivity and refractive index measurements. All techniques used to measure critical micelles concentration showed a good convergence in measuring CMC values and the behavior of all surfactants in 15% DMSO-water solvent. Increasing the binding constant of the counter ion and association constant reflects the effect of hydrocarbon chain length increment on enhancing micelle formation, where TAC 18 was shown as the lowest CMC in all applied measurements. Modeling the density of all surfactant solutions under study indicates an increase in hydrophobic polarizability with an increase in the molecular weight of the surfactant. Inorganic salts decreased the CMC of all surfactants with the increase in Gibbs free energy of micellization which ensures easier formation of more stable micelles in the presence of a salt solution. The effect of salts on decreasing CMC for all surfactants under study was arranged in the following order: Mn+2 < Cu+2 < Co+2 for cationic radicals and I- < Br- < Cl- for anionic radicals.

Abstract
Surfactants are amphiphilic molecules and one of the most versatile products of the chemical industry. They can be absorbed at the air-water interface and can align themselves so that the hydrophobic part is in the air while the hydrophilic part is in water. This alignment lowers the surface or interfacial tension. Gemini surfactants are a modern variety of surfactants with unique properties and a very wide range of potential applications. Hexamethylene-1,6-bis(N-dodecyl-N,N-dimethylammonium bromide) is one such representative compound that is a better alternative to a single analogue. It shows excellent surface, antimicrobial, and anticorrosion properties. With a highly efficient synthetic method and a good ecological profile, it is a potential candidate for numerous applications, including biomedical applications.

Abstract
TiO2 nanoparticles were prepared using a sol-gel process in combination with a novel cationic gemini surfactant (CGS) with amide functional groups at low temperatures. Titanium (IV) isopropoxide (TIP) and CGS were used as the starting materials and as effective agents, respectively, to orient the nanoparticles during the sol-gel synthesis. To reveal both the structural and morphological properties of the nanopowders prepared in this work, they were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, scanning electron microscope (SEM), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) surface area apparatus. The pore volume and pore size were calculated using the Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BJH) model on the desorption branch. The experimental results show that the surface area and average crystallite size of the obtained TiO2 nanopowders vary between 160-203 m2/g and 27-49 nm, respectively. It was observed that the N2 adsorption-desorption isotherms for almost all samples of TiO2-X% CGS (X: mass of CGS) show the typical Type I with a hysteresis loop of H4. The photocatalytic activities of the CGS-modified nanocomposites are evaluated not only by the photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange (MO) but also by the reduction of Cr(VI) as model pollutants in the presence of visible light.

Abstract
Interaction of sodium carboxymethylcellulose (SCMC) with cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB; cationic in nature) in H2O and additives (alcohols and diols) media has been investigated using conductivity technique. The micellar parameters such as critical micelle concentration (cmc), fraction of counter ion binding (β), thermodynamic parameters, transfer properties, and enthalpy-entropy compensation parameters of CTAB + SCMC mixture have been assessed in water and aq. alcohols/diols media. One cmc value was achieved for CTAB + SCMC mixtures in the entire circumstances and the attendance of SCMC disfavors the CTAB micellization. The cmc values were obtained to be greater in alcohols and diols media compared to H2O medium. The cmc values also exhibit a dependency on the solvent composition and temperature variation. In all the cases, the ΔG

values were achieved to be negative which signifying the spontaneous formation of micelles while the extent of spontaneity is decreased in alcohols and diols media. Both the ΔH

Abstract
Three reactive amphoteric surfactants (M10, M12 and M14) with different alkyl chain lengths have been synthesized using N,N'-dimethyl-1,3-propyldiamine, maleic anhydride and alkyl bromide as raw materials. The compounds had been characterized by mass spectrometry and 1H-NMR. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) and the corresponding surface tension (γCMC) of M10, M12 and M14 were measured at temperatures from 298 K to 313 K. The results showed that the CMC of M10, M12 and M14 are 5,89 × 10−4 mol L−1, 2,63 × 10−4 mol L−1 and 1,35 × 10−4 mol L−1. The γCMC of M10, M12 and M14 are 31.26 mN m−1, 28.79 mN m−1, and 26.87 mN m−1 at 298 K respectively. As the temperature rises, the CMC and the minimum molecule area (Amin) increased gradually, but the γCMC and the maximum surface adsorption capacity (Γmax) decreased moderately. The micelle aggregation number (Nm) was determined and changed slightly in the temperature range of 298 K–313 K, which showed that the micelle aggregation number was insensitive to the temperature change.

The mixed micellization of aqueous binary mixtures of DTAB-rich and SDS-rich surfactants, comprising sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) is studied in aqueous solution by using the physicochemical properties (PCPs) at three different temperatures (T = 293.15, 298.15, and 303.15 K) and P=0.1 MPa. The DTAB concentration is varied from 0.0001 to 0.03 M/mol·L−1 in the ∼0.01 M/mol·L−1 SDS solution, while the concentration of SDS is varied from 0.001 to 0.015 M/mol·L−1 in the ∼0.005 M/mol·L−1 DTAB. The stable formulations have been obtained by employing the DTAB-rich and SDS-rich surfactants solutions in 3 : 1 ratio. Therefore, different phases and aggregated states formed in the ternary combinations of DTAB/SDS/H2O have been identified and described. The calculated PCPs have been utilized for determining the nature of the solute-solvent interaction (SLS0I). With increasing surfactants concentration, the polarisation of the solution also increases along with an increase in relative viscosity (ηr), viscous relaxation time (τ), and surface excess concentration (Γmax). However, the surface area of the molecule (Amin), hydrodynamic volume (Vh), and hydrodynamic radius (Rh) decrease along with an increase in surfactants concentration.

Abstract
Hydraulic fracturing is one of the important methods to improve oil and gas production. The performance of the fracturing fluid directly affects the success of hydraulic fracturing. The traditional cross-linked polymer fracturing fluid can cause secondary damage to oil and gas reservoirs due to the poor flow-back of the fracturing fluid, and existing conventional cleaning fracturing fluids have poor performance in high temperature. Therefore, this paper has carried out research on novel sulfonate Gemini surfactant cleaning fracturing fluids. The rheological properties of a series of sulfonate Gemini surfactant (DSm-s-m) solutions at different temperatures and constant shear rate (170 s−1) were tested for optimizing the temperature-resistance and thickening properties of anionic Gemini surfactants in clean fracturing fluid. At the same time, the microstructures of solutions were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The experimental results showed that the viscosity of the sulfonate Gemini surfactant solution varied with the spacer group and the hydrophobic chain at 65 °C and 170 s−1, wherein DS18-3-18 had excellent viscosity-increasing properties. Furthermore, the microstructure of 4 wt.% DS18-3-18 solution demonstrated that DS18-3-18 self-assembled into dense layered micelles, and the micelles intertwined with each other to form the network structure, promoting the increase in solution viscosity. Adding nano-MgO can increase the temperature-resistance of 4 wt.% DS18-3-18 solution, which indicated that the rod-like and close-packed layered micelles were beneficial to the improvement of the temperature-resistance and thickening performances of the DS18-3-18 solution. DS18-3-18 was not only easy to formulate, but also stable in all aspects. Due to its low molecular weight, the damage to the formation was close to zero and the insoluble residue was almost zero because of the absence of breaker, so it could be used as a thickener for clean fracturing fluids in tight reservoirs.

The micellar properties of the cationic Gemini surfactant ethanediyl-1,2-bis(dimethyldodecyl ammonium bromide), C12H25 · (CH3)2N+–(CH2)2–N+(CH3)2C12H25 · 2Br− (12-2-12), with short chain alcohols have been studied by conductivity and surface tension measurements within the temperature range 293.15 K–313.15 K and alcohol percentage. The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of 12-2-12 solution, degree of ionization (α) and standard Gibbs free energy of micellization (ΔG°m), standard enthalpy of micellization (ΔH°m) were calculated from conductivity and surface tension data. The experimental data show that the CMC values of cationic Gemini surfactants increased with addition of methanol, ethanol and n-propanol. The thermodynamic parameters (ΔG°m), (ΔH°m) and (ΔS°m) of micellization of 12-2-12 in alcohol were also calculated from the temperature dependence of the CMC values. CMC, (α), (ΔH°m) and (ΔS°m) increased linearly with increasing temperature. In the mixture of dimeric cationic surfactant (12-2-12) and alcohol solutions, the CMC values showed a slight increase with increasing alcohol concentration. CMC, maximum surface excess concentration at the solution/air interface, Γmax, minimum area per surfactant molecule, Amin, and the surface pressure at CMC, ¶CMC, values calculated from the surface tension measurements and thermodynamic parameters have been evaluated at same temperatures.

Abstract
The effect of various inorganic and organic counterions on the aggregation behavior of gemini surfactants was examined to investigate the dominant influence of the anions on their micellization and aggregation behavior.

Abstract
Three gemini surfactants with dibenzyl ether spacer (10-B-10, 12-B-12, and 14-B-14) were synthesized and characterized. The surface activity and thermodynamic properties of micellization were determined by surface tension, steady-state fluorescence microscopy, and conductivity methods. The thermodynamic parameters of micellization (ΔmicG0, ΔmicH0, and ΔmicS0) derived from the electrical conductivity measurement implied that the micellization of these surfactants was driven by enthalpy. The enthalpy–entropy compensation of micellization showed that the stability of micelles increased with increasing alkyl chain length. Finally, we evaluated the effects of alkyl chain length on the interfacial tension, foam ability, and the emulsion stability.

Abstract
The stepwise thinning (stratification) of liquid films, which contain micelles of an ionic surfactant, depends on the micelle aggregation number, N(agg), and charge, Z. Vice versa, from the height of the step and the final film thickness one can determine N(agg), Z, and the degree of micelle ionization. The determination of N(agg) is based on the experimental fact that the step height is equal to the inverse cubic root of the micelle concentration. In addition, Z is determined from the final thickness of the film, which depends on the concentration of counterions dissociated from the micelles in the bulk. The method is applied to micellar solutions of six surfactants, both anionic and cationic: sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS), cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB), cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC), sodium laurylethersulfates with 1 and 3 ethylene oxide groups (SLES-1EO and SLES-3EO), and potassium myristate. The method has the following advantages: (i) N(agg) and Z are determined simultaneously, from the same set of experimental data; (ii) N(agg) and Z are determined for each given surfactant concentration (i.e. their concentration dependence is obtained), and (iii) N(agg) and Z can be determined even for turbid solutions, like those of carboxylates, where the micelles coexist with acid-soap crystallites, so that the application of other methods is difficult. The results indicate that the micelles of greater aggregation number have a lower degree of ionization, which can be explained with the effect of counterion binding. The proposed method is applicable to the concentration range, in which the films stratify and the micelles are spherical. This is satisfied for numerous systems representing scientific and practical interest.
