Abstract
Background Effective treatment for advanced soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) is necessary for improved outcomes. Previous studies have suggested that cryoablation can have a synergistic effect with programmed cell death protein-1 (PD-1) inhibitor in the treatment of malignancy. This study aimed to clarify the efficacy and safety of argon-helium knife cryoablation in combination with PD-1 inhibitor in the treatment of STSs. Methods Retrospectively collected and analyzed the clinical data of patients with advanced STS who underwent cryoablation and PD-1 inhibitor between March 2018 and December 2021. Results This study included 27 patients with advanced STS. In terms of target lesions treated with cryoablation, 1 patient achieved complete response, 15 patients had partial response (PR), 10 patients had stable disease, and 1 patient had progressive disease. This corresponded to an overall response rate of 59.3% and a disease control rate of 96.3%. In terms of distant target lesions untreated with cryoablation, only two patients had a PR compared to the diameter of the lesion before ablation. The combination therapy was relatively well tolerated. None of the patients experienced treatment-related death or delayed treatment due to adverse events. Conclusion Cryoablation combined with PD-1 inhibitors in the therapy of advanced STS is safe and can effectively shrink the cryoablation-target lesion. However, there is no evidence of the synergistic effects of this combination therapy.

Abstract
Sarcomas are heterogenous mesenchymal neoplasms with more than 80 different histologic subtypes. Lung followed by liver and bone are the most common sites of sarcoma metastatic disease. Ablative techniques have been recently added as an additional alternative curative or palliative therapeutic tool in sarcoma metastatic disease. When compared to surgery, ablative techniques are less invasive therapies which can be performed even in non-surgical candidates and are related to decreased recovery time as well as preservation of the treated organ’s long-term function. Literature data upon ablative techniques for sarcoma metastatic disease are quite heterogeneous and variable regarding the size and the number of the treated lesions and the different histologic subtypes of the original soft tissue or bone sarcoma. The present study focuses upon the current role of minimal invasive thermal ablative techniques for the management of metastatic sarcoma disease. The purpose of this review is to present the current minimally invasive ablative techniques in the treatment of metastatic soft tissue and bone sarcoma, including local control and survival rates.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the effectiveness and safety of thermal ablative methods and myomectomy for the treatment of uterine fibroids. MATERIALS AND METHODS We searched EMBASE, PubMed, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, Scopus, CINAHL, ClinicalTrials.gov and Web of Science databases through April 2021. Clinical trials comparing the thermal ablative methods and myomectomy for the treatment of uterine fibroids were included. RESULTS Thirteen studies including 4205 patients were eligible. The thermal ablative treatment group was associated with less major adverse events (only ultrasound guided high-intensity focused ultrasound) (RR, 0.111 [95% CI, 0.070-0.175], p=.0), shorter duration of hospital stays in observational studies (-0.1497 day, [95% CI, -1.593 to -0.321], p=.0) and in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) (-0.844 day, [95% CI, -0.1.142 to -0.546], p=.0), higher uterine fibroid symptom (UFS) score after operation (0.252 [95% CI, 0.165-0.339]; p=.0), transformed symptom severity (tSS) score after operation (0.515 [95% CI, 0.355-0.674]; p=.0) and quality of life (QoL) score after operation (0.188 [95% CI, 0.093-0.283]; p=.0) in comparison with myomectomy group. No statistically significant difference was found between the thermal ablative treatment group and myomectomy group with respect to reintervention rate and pregnancy rate. CONCLUSION The current data available demonstrate that thermal ablative methods were not inferior to myomectomy in the treatment of uterine fibroids. The findings in this study need to be further confirmed by large RCTs.

Abstract
Background: Outcomes between percutaneous microwave (MWA) and cryoablation of sarcoma lung metastases have not been compared to our knowledge. Objective: To compare technical success, complications, local tumor control, and overall survival (OS) following MWA versus cryoablation of sarcoma lung metastases. Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 27 patients (16 women, 11 men; median age 64 years; Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance score 0-2) who underwent 39 percutaneous CT-guided ablation sessions (21 MWA, 18 cryoablation; 1-4 sessions per patient) to treat 65 sarcoma lung metastases (median 1 tumor per patient, range 1-12; median tumor diameter 11 mm, range 5-33 mm; 25% non-peripheral) from 2009 to 2021. We compared complications by ablation modality using generalized-estimating equations. We evaluated ablation modality, tumor size, and location (peripheral vs non-peripheral) in relation to local tumor progression using proportional Cox hazard models with death as competing risk. We estimated OS using the Kaplan-Meier method. Results: Primary technical success was 97% for both modalities. Median follow-up was 23 months (range: 1-102 months; interquartile range: 12, 44 months). A total of 7/61 (12%) tumors progressed. Estimated 1-year and 2-year local control rates were, for tumors >1 cm, 97% and 95% following MWA versus 99% and 98% following cryoablation, and for tumors ≤1 cm, 74% and 62% following MWA versus 86% and 79% following cryoablation. Tumor size ≤1 cm was associated with decreased cumulative incidence of local progression (p =.048); ablation modality and tumor location were not associated with progression (p =.86; p =.54). Complications (CTCAE grade ≤3) occurred in 17/39 sessions (44%), prompting chest tube placement in nine (23%). No complications with grade ≥4 occurred. OS at 1-, 2-, and 3-years was 100%, 89%, and 82%, respectively. Conclusion: High primary technical success, local control, and OS support MWA and cryoablation for treating sarcoma lung metastases. Ablation modality and tumor location did not affect local progression. Treatment failure was low, especially for small tumors. No life-threatening complications occurred. Clinical Impact: Percutaneous MWA and cryoablation are both suited for treatment of sarcoma lung metastases, especially for tumors ≤1 cm, whether peripheral or non-peripheral. Complications, if they occur, are not life-threatening.

Abstract
Currently, immunotherapy has been a backbone in the treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) without driver gene mutations. However, only a small proportion of NSCLC patients respond to immune checkpoint inhibitors, and majority of patients with initial response will develop acquired resistance at 5 years, which usually manifests as oligo-progression or oligo-metastases. Evidence from multiple clinical trials indicates that local consolidative therapies could improve the prognosis of oligometastatic NSCLC patients. Herein, we reported a case of advanced squamous lung cancer which showed a durable abscopal effect from microwave ablation after acquired resistance of immunotherapy.

Abstract
We present the case of a 52-year-old male patient with recurrence of a soft-tissue sarcoma of the left leg treated with percutaneous laser ablation. The patient received the diagnosis of sarcoma for the first time in 2011; further local recurrences and a pulmonary metastatic spread occurred during follow-up, so the patient has been treated several times with chemotherapy, limb-sparing surgery and radiotherapy. In September 2017, a new local recurrence of sarcoma occurred, for which limb amputation was proposed but refused by the patient. Laser ablation with ultrasound guidance was performed, with complete ablation at 6 months and limb salvage.

Abstract
Background To enhance our understanding of the feasibility, effectiveness, safety and quality of life (QoL) of radiofrequency ablation (RFA) for inoperable patients with pulmonary tumors. Methods The data of 88 patients with pulmonary tumors undergoing RFA were collected. Proof of malignancy was obtained by biopsy in all patients. Diagnoses included non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in 74 patients and pulmonary metastases in 14 patients. Patients underwent computed tomography (CT)-guided RFA according to standard protocol and had a 2-year follow-up. Results assessment included feasibility (correct placement of the ablation probe into all targeted tumors), effectiveness (overall survival rate and local control rate), safety (treatment-related complication and changes in pulmonary function) and QoL. Results One hundred and thirty-four RFAs were successfully conducted in 88 patients with 96 nodules. Correct placement of ablation probe into targeted tumors with completion of the planned treatment protocol was feasible in all 88 (100%) patients and no procedure-related deaths occurred. Major complication rate was 4.5% (4/88), which consisted of symptomatic pneumothorax (2/88) and high fever (2/88). No significant worsening of pulmonary function was observed. Tumors shrank obviously at 6 months after RFA with a statistically significance (P<0.001).The overall survival rate in 6 months, 1 year and 2 years were 100%, 95.5% and 70.5%, respectively while the local control rate in 6 months, 1 year and 2 years were 92.1%, 87.5% and 51.1% respectively. There was no significant difference of overall survival rate and local control rate between NSCLC and metastatic carcinoma. No significant worsening of QoL was observed. Conclusions CT-guided RFA is a feasible, effective and safe therapy for inoperable patients with pulmonary tumors. However, RFA could not obviously improve the QoL in the patients with pulmonary tumors. More prospective studies comparing RFA with standard non-surgical treatment options were needed.
