Abstract
BACKGROUND Brain metastasis (BM) prognosis is incredibly poor and is often associated with considerable morbidity. Seizures are commonly present in these patients, and their biopsychosocial impact can be dangerous. The use of antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) as primary prophylaxis remains controversial. This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to evaluate the efficacy of AED prophylaxis in patients with BM. METHODS MEDLINE via PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, and Cochrane were searched for articles pertinent to AED prophylaxis use in patients with BM. Patients with BM previously treated for cancer who were seizure naive at the time of inclusion were included. Data regarding patient characteristics, type of AED, prior treatments, and groups at a high risk of seizure were extracted. Seizure prevalence was obtained. RESULTS Eight studies were included in this systematic review and meta-analysis; 1902 total patients with BM were included, with 381 receiving antiepileptic prophylaxis, and 1521 receiving no prophylaxis. Although the odds of a seizure in the treatment group was found to be 1.158 times the odds of a seizure in the control group, the odds ratio was not statistically significant (t-statistic = 0.62, P value = 0.5543). CONCLUSIONS There was no significant difference in the odds of seizure development in control groups compared to patients receiving prophylactic antiepileptic therapy. As patients with BM present with heterogeneity in tumor characteristics and receive various treatment modalities, future research is needed to identify groups that may benefit more significantly from AED prophylaxis.

Abstract
Tumor-related epilepsy (TRE) is a frequent and major consequence of brain tumors. Management of TRE is required throughout the course of disease and a deep understanding of diagnosis and treatment is key to improving quality of life. Gross total resection is favored from both an oncologic and epilepsy perspective. Shared mechanisms of tumor growth and epilepsy exist, and emerging data will provide better targeted therapy options. Initial treatment with antiseizure medications (ASM) in conjunction with surgery and/or chemoradiotherapy is typical. The first choice of ASM is critical to optimize seizure control and tolerability considering the effects of the tumor itself. These agents carry a potential for drug-drug interactions and therefore knowledge of mechanisms of action and interactions is needed. A review of adverse effects is necessary to guide ASM adjustments and decision-making. This review highlights the essential aspects of diagnosis and treatment of TRE with ASMs, surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy while indicating areas of uncertainty. Future studies should consider the use of a standardized method of seizure tracking and incorporating seizure outcomes as a primary endpoint of tumor treatment trials.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Epilepsy is a prevalent comorbidity in patients with brain metastases (BM) and could result in sudden and accidental damage, as well as increased disease burden due to its rapid onset. Foreseeing the potential for the development of epilepsy may permit timely and efficient measures. This study aimed to analyze the influencing factors of epilepsy in advanced lung cancer (ALC) patients with BM and construct a nomogram model to predict the likelihood of developing epilepsy. METHODS Socio-demographic and clinical data of ALC patients with BM were retrospectively collected from the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine between September 2019 and June 2021. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were applied to determine the influencing factors for epilepsy in ALC patients with BM. Based on the results of the logistic regression analysis, a nomogram was built to represent the contribution of each influencing factor in predicting the probability of epilepsy development in ALC patients with BM. The Hosmer-Lemeshow test and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were utilized to evaluate the goodness of fit and prediction performance of the model. RESULTS The incidence of epilepsy among 138 ALC patients with BM was 29.7%. On the multivariate analysis, having a higher number of supratentorial lesions (odds ratio [OR] = 1.727; p = 0.022), hemorrhagic foci (OR = 4.922; p = .021), and a high-grade of peritumoral edema (OR = 2.524; p < .001) were independent risk factors for developing epilepsy, while undergoing gamma knife radiosurgery (OR = .327; p = .019) was an independent protective factor. The p-value of the Hosmer-Lemeshow test was .535 and the area under the ROC curve (AUC) was .852 (95% CI: .807-.897), suggesting the model had a good fit and exhibited strong predictive accuracy. CONCLUSION The nomogram was constructed that can predict the probability of epilepsy development for ALC patients with BM, which is helpful for healthcare professionals to identify high-risk groups early and allows for individualized interventions.

Abstract
Traditionally, in the past, most of central nervous system metastases from solid tumors were associated with an advanced phase of the disease needing palliation only, while to date they increasingly develop as an early and/or solitary relapse in patients with the systemic disease under control. This review will cover all the aspects of a modern management of brain and leptomeningeal metastases from diagnosis to the different therapeutic options, either local (surgery, stereotactic radiosurgery, whole-brain radiotherapy with hippocampal avoidance) or systemic. Particular emphasis is reserved to the new-targeted drugs, that allow to target specifically driver molecular alterations. These new compounds pose new problems in terms of monitoring efficacy and adverse events, but increasingly they allow improvement of outcome in comparison to historical controls.

Efficacy and Tolerability of Perampanel in Brain Tumor-Related Epilepsy: A Systematic Review. Biomedicines 2023; 11:biomedicines11030651. Abstract
(1) Background: Epilepsy is a frequent comorbidity in patients with brain tumors, in whom seizures are often drug-resistant. Current evidence suggests that excess of glutamatergic activity in the tumor microenvironment may favor epileptogenesis, but also tumor growth and invasiveness. The selective non-competitive α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA) receptor antagonist perampanel (PER) was demonstrated to be efficacious and well-tolerated in patients with focal seizures. Moreover, preclinical in vitro studies suggested a potential anti-tumor activity of this drug. In this systematic review, the clinical evidence on the efficacy and tolerability of PER in brain tumor-related epilepsy (BTRE) is summarized. (2) Methods: Five databases and two clinical trial registries were searched from inception to December 2022. (3) Results: Seven studies and six clinical trials were included. Sample size ranged from 8 to 36 patients, who received add-on PER (mean dosage from 4 to 7 mg/day) for BTRE. After a 6–12 month follow-up, the responder rate (% of patients achieving seizure freedom or reduction ≥ 50% of seizure frequency) ranged from 75% to 95%, with a seizure freedom rate of up to 94%. Regarding tolerability, 11–52% of patients experienced non-severe adverse effects (most frequent: dizziness, vertigo, anxiety, irritability). The retention rate ranged from 56% to 83%. However, only up to 12.5% of patients discontinued the drug because of the adverse events. (4) Conclusions: PER seems to be efficacious, safe, and well-tolerated in patients with BTRE. Further randomized studies should be conducted in more homogeneous and larger populations, also evaluating the effect of PER on tumor progression, overall survival, and progression-free survival.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION We sought to determine the influence of primary tumor histology and metastatic tumor location on the frequency of seizures among patients with brain metastases. A secondary aim was to determine if surgery reduced the occurrence and frequency of seizures. METHODS We retrospectively reviewed patients with cerebral metastasis at a single institution from 2006 to 2016. RESULTS Among 1949 patients identified as having had cerebral metastasis, 168 (8.6%) had documentation of one or more seizures. The incidence of seizures was highest among patients with metastases from melanoma (19.8%), followed by those with colon cancer (9.7%), renal cell carcinoma (RCC; 8.3%), and lung cancer (7.0%). Among 1581 patients with melanoma, colon cancer, RCC, non-small cell lung cancer, or breast cancer, having metastases in the frontal lobe seemed to confer the greatest risk of seizures (n = 100), followed by foci in the temporal lobe (n = 20) and elsewhere (n = 16). CONCLUSION Patients with cerebral metastasis are at increased risk for seizures. Seizure rates seem to be higher for certain primary tumors, such as melanoma, colon cancer, and RCC, and for lesions located in the frontal lobe.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Epileptic seizures are a common and potentially devastating complication of metastatic brain tumors. Although tumor-related seizures have been described in previous case series, most studies have focused on primary brain tumors and have not differentiated between different types of cerebral metastases. The authors analyzed a large surgical cohort of patients with brain metastases to examine risk factors associated with preoperative and postoperative seizures and to better understand the seizure risk factors of metastatic brain tumors. METHODS Patients who underwent resection of a brain metastasis at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), were retrospectively reviewed. Patients included in the study were ≥ 18 years of age, required resection of a brain metastasis, and were treated at UCSF. Primary cancers included melanoma, non-small cell lung adenocarcinoma, breast adenocarcinoma, colorectal adenocarcinoma, esophageal adenocarcinoma, gastric adenocarcinoma, renal cell carcinoma, urothelial carcinoma, ovarian carcinoma, cervical squamous cell carcinoma, and endometrial adenocarcinoma. Patients were evaluated for primary cancer type and seizure occurrence, as well as need for use of antiepileptic drugs preoperatively, at time of discharge, and at 6 months postoperatively. Additionally, Engel classification scores were assigned to those patients who initially presented with seizures preoperatively. Univariate and multivariate regression analyses were used to assess the association of tumor type with preoperative seizures. RESULTS Data were retrospectively analyzed for 348 consecutive patients who underwent surgical treatment of brain metastases between 1998 and 2019. The cohort had a mean age of 60 years at the time of surgery and was 59% female. The mean and median follow-up durations after the date of surgery for the cohort were 22 months and 10.8 months, respectively. In univariate analysis, frontal lobe location (p = 0.05), melanoma (p = 0.02), KRAS mutation in lung carcinoma (p = 0.04), intratumoral hemorrhage (p = 0.04), and prior radiotherapy (p = 0.04) were associated with seizure presentation. Postoperative checkpoint inhibitor use (p = 0.002), prior radiotherapy (p = 0.05), older age (p = 0.002), distant CNS progression (p = 0.004), and parietal lobe tumor location (p = 0.002) were associated with seizures at 6 months postoperatively. The final multivariate model confirmed the independent effects of tumor location in the frontal lobe and presence of intratumoral hemorrhage as predictors of preoperative seizures, and checkpoint inhibitor use and parietal lobe location were identified as significant predictors of seizures at 6 months postoperatively. CONCLUSIONS Within this surgical cohort of patients with brain metastases, seizures were seen in almost a quarter of patients preoperatively. Frontal lobe metastases and hemorrhagic tumors were associated with higher risk of preoperative seizures, whereas checkpoint inhibitor use and parietal lobe tumors appeared to be associated with seizures at 6 months postoperatively. Future research should focus on the effect of metastatic lesion-targeting therapeutic interventions on seizure control in these patients.

Abstract
Introduction Retrospective observational study on medical records of patients with epilepsy related brain metastases (BM) to evaluate efficacy, safety and possible interaction with cancer treatment of different anti-seizure medications (ASMs) and the risk of seizures. Materials and methods We consecutively reviewed all medical records of epilepsy-related BM patients from 2010 to 2020 who were followed for at least one month at the Brain Tumour-related Epilepsy Center of the IRCCS Regina Elena National Cancer Institute Rome, Italy. Results We selected 111 cancer patients. Of these, only 42 had at least undergone a second neurological examination. In the whole population, 95 (85.2%) had seizures and 16 patients had no seizures (14.4%). The most frequently first ASM prescribed was LEV (40.5%). We observed a significant correlation between tumor site and probability of having seizures, but not between seizure type and age (>65 or <65 years). Among 42 patients, 26 were administered levetiracetam, followed by oxcarbazepine. Until the last follow-up, 19 never changed the first ASM, maintained the same dosage and remained seizure free. After a median of 7 months, 16 (38.1%) required changes in therapeutic treatment due to inefficacy. At the last follow-up, 24 patients (57.1%) were seizure free. Eighteen patients (42.8%) never achieved freedom from seizures despite had at least 2 therapy changes. Two patients changed ASM due to adverse events and 1 to phenobarbital owing to the interaction with cancer treatment. The mean daily dose of first ASM in all 42 patients was very close to the Defined Daily Dose (DDD). Conclusion In BM patients seizure incidence could be underestimated; a team evaluation performed by oncologist and neurologist together, could guarantee an accurate taking care of both oncological illness and epilepsy, in this fragile patient population. More than 50% of our patients respond to monotherapy with new generation ASMs. Furthermore we deemed in patients receiving chemotherapy the choice of ASM should consider possible interactions with antitumor therapies, for this reason newer generation ASMs should be the preferred choice. It is necessary to get close to the DDD before considering an ASM ineffective in seizure control.

Abstract
Brain metastases occur commonly in patients with advanced solid malignancies. Yet, less is known about brain metastases than cancer-related entities of similar incidence. Advances in oncologic care have heightened the importance of intracranial management. Here, in this consensus review supported by the Society for Neuro-Oncology (SNO), we review the landscape of brain metastases with particular attention to management approaches and ongoing efforts with potential to shape future paradigms of care. Each coauthor carried an area of expertise within the field of brain metastases and initially composed, edited, or reviewed their specific subsection of interest. After each subsection was accordingly written, multiple drafts of the manuscript were circulated to the entire list of authors for group discussion and feedback. The hope is that the these consensus guidelines will accelerate progress in the understanding and management of patients with brain metastases, and highlight key areas in need of further exploration that will lead to dedicated trials and other research investigations designed to advance the field.

Abstract
Simple Summary Although in the last decades the clinical outcome of cancer patients considerably improved, the major drawbacks still associated with chemotherapy are the unwanted side effects and the development of drug resistance. Therefore, a continuous effort in trying to discover new tumor markers, possibly of diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic value, is being made. This review is aimed at highlighting the anti-tumor activity that several antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) exert in breast, prostate and other types of cancers, mainly focusing on their ability to block the voltage-gated Na+ and Ca++ channels, as well as to inhibit the activity of histone deacetylases (HDACs), all well-documented tumor markers and/or molecular targets. The existence of additional AEDs molecular targets is highly suspected. Therefore, the repurposing of already available drugs as adjuvants in cancer treatment would have several advantages, such as reductions in dose-related toxicity CVs will be sent in a separate mail to the indicated address of combined treatments, lower production costs, and faster approval for clinical use. Abstract Cancer is a major health burden worldwide. Although the plethora of molecular targets identified in the last decades and the deriving developed treatments, which significantly improved patients’ outcome, the occurrence of resistance to therapies remains the major cause of relapse and mortality. Thus, efforts in identifying new markers to be exploited as molecular targets in cancer therapy are needed. This review will first give a glance on the diagnostic and therapeutic significance of histone deacetylase (HDAC) and voltage gated ion channels (VGICs) in cancer. Nevertheless, HDAC and VGICs have also been reported as molecular targets through which antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) seem to exert their anticancer activity. This should be claimed as a great advantage. Indeed, due to the slowness of drug approval procedures, the attempt to turn to off-label use of already approved medicines would be highly preferable. Therefore, an updated and accurate overview of both preclinical and clinical data of commonly prescribed AEDs (mainly valproic acid, lamotrigine, carbamazepine, phenytoin and gabapentin) in breast, prostate, brain and other cancers will follow. Finally, a glance at the emerging attempt to administer AEDs by means of opportunely designed drug delivery systems (DDSs), so to limit toxicity and improve bioavailability, is also given.

Abstract
Central nervous system (CNS) dissemination is a severe complication in cancer and a leading cause of cancer-related mortality. Brain metastases (BMs) are the most common types of malignant intracranial tumors and are reported in approximately 25% of patients with metastatic cancers. The recent increase in incidence of BMs is due to several factors including better diagnostic assessments and the development of improved systemic therapies that have lower activity on the CNS. However, newer systemic therapies are being developed that can cross the blood-brain barrier giving us additional tools to treat BMs. The guidelines presented here focus on the efficacy of new targeted systemic therapies and immunotherapies on CNS BMs from breast, melanoma, and lung cancers.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE It is necessary to accurately characterize the epidemiology and trends of brain tumor-related epilepsy (BTE) in patients with metastatic brain tumors. This study aimed to determine the incidence of BTE associated with metastatic brain tumors and retrospectively investigate the risk factors for BTE. METHODS This retrospective analysis included 601 of 631 consecutive patients with metastatic brain tumors who received treatment, including surgery, radiotherapy, and/or other treatments. BTE and the clinical course were examined retrospectively. Logistic regression multivariate analyses were performed to identify risk factors for BTE. RESULTS BTE was reported in 148 (24.6%) of 601 patients during the entire course. Of these 148 patients, 81 (54.7%) had first-onset epilepsy (13.5% of all patients). Of the 520 cases of nonepileptic onset, 53 were in the prophylactic antiepileptic drug (AED) group. However, 12 of these patients and 55 of the no-prophylactic AED group developed epilepsy during the course of the study. Including these 67 patients, 148 patients were examined as the group of all epilepsy cases during the entire course. In 3 patients, the seizure progressed to status epilepticus. In most patients, the BTE (n = 83, 56.1%) manifested as focal aware seizures. Logistic regression analysis identified young age (p = 0.037), male sex (p = 0.026), breast cancer (p = 0.001), eloquent area (p < 0.001), peritumoral edema (p < 0.001), dissemination (p = 0.013), and maximum tumor volume (p = 0.021) as significant risk factors for BTE. BTE was more common with tumor volumes greater than the cutoff value of 1.92 ml. CONCLUSIONS BTE appears to be more likely to occur in cases with young age, male sex, breast cancer, tumors involving eloquent areas, brain edema, dissemination, and giant tumors.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To update the 2000 American Academy of Neurology (AAN) practice parameter on anticonvulsant prophylaxis in patients with newly diagnosed brain tumors. METHODS Following the 2017 AAN methodologies, a systematic literature review utilizing PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane, and Web of Science databases was performed. The studies were rated based on the AAN therapeutic or causation classification of evidence (Class I-IV). RESULTS Thirty-seven articles were selected for final analysis. There were limited high level, Class I studies and mostly Class II and III studies. The AAN affirmed the value of these guidelines. RECOMMENDATIONS In patients with newly diagnosed brain tumors who have not had a seizure, clinicians should not prescribe anti-epileptic drugs (AEDs) to reduce the risk of seizures (Level A). In brain tumor patients undergoing surgery, there is insufficient evidence to recommend prescribing AEDs to reduce the risk of seizures in the peri- or postoperative period (Level C). There is insufficient evidence to support prescribing valproic acid or levetiracetam with the intent to prolong progression-free or overall survival (Level C). Physicians may consider use of levetiracetam over older AEDs to reduce side effects (Level C). There is insufficient evidence to support using tumor location, histology, grade, molecular/imaging features, when deciding whether or not to prescribe prophylactic AEDs (Level U).

Abstract
Epilepsy is a common consequence of brain tumors, occurring in 35 to 75% of cases. Here we evaluated the influence of epilepsy on the quality of life (QoL) of patients with malignant brain tumors (primary and metastatic) and assessed which areas of function are most affected by epilepsy and brain tumors. Sixty patients undergoing brain tumor surgery at the Neurosurgery Clinic of the 10th Military Research Hospital, Bydgoszcz, Poland (30 with epilepsy and 30 without epilepsy) were studied. Relationships between categorical variables were determined with Pearson’s chi-squared test, while continuous data were analyzed with the Mann-Whitney U-test. A p value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. A multiple regression model was used for multivariate analysis of QoL. Patients with epilepsy more frequently reported memory disorders as a problem in their daily life. There were trends towards greater impairments in social, professional, and family life, sports and recreational activities, and daily physical activities in brain tumor patients with epilepsy rather than those without epilepsy. Higher frequency and generalized seizures significantly and adversely influenced the ability of patients to leave home and drive vehicles, but a proportion of patients with frequent, generalized seizures continued to drive regardless. Patients with generalized seizures considered the adverse effects of taking medicines as significantly disruptive. Memory disorders significantly affect the QoL of patients with epilepsy, and the importance of stopping driving must be emphasized by all healthcare professionals.

Abstract
Surgical resection is highly effective in the treatment of tumor-related epilepsy (TRE) in patients with brain metastases (BM). Nevertheless, some patients suffer from postoperative persistent epilepsy which negatively impacts health-related quality of life. Therefore, early identification of patients with potentially unfavorable seizure outcome after BM resection is important. Patients with TRE that had undergone surgery for BM at the authors’ institution between 2013 and 2018 were analyzed with regard to preoperatively identifiable risk factors for unfavorable seizure outcome. Tumor tissue and tumor necrosis ratios were assessed volumetrically. According to the classification of the International League Against Epilepsy (ILAE), seizure outcome was categorized as favorable (ILAE 1) and unfavorable (ILAE 2–6) after 3 months in order to avoid potential interference with adjuvant cancer treatment. Among all 38 patients undergoing neurosurgical treatment for BM with concomitant TRE, 34 patients achieved a favorable seizure outcome (90%). Unfavorable seizure outcome was significantly associated with larger tumor volumes (p = 0.012), a midline shift > 7 mm (p = 0.025), and a necrosis/tumor volume ratio > 0.2 (p = 0.047). The present study identifies preoperatively collectable risk factors for unfavorable seizure outcome in patients with BM and TRE. This might enable to preselect for highly vulnerable patients with postoperative persistent epilepsy who might benefit from accompanying neuro-oncological expertise during further systemical treatment regimes.

OBJECTIVE To test the hypothesis that subets of patients with brain metastases (BrM) without seizures at intracranial presentation are at increased risk for developing seizures, we characterized the incidence and risk factors for seizure development among seizure-naive patients with BrMs. METHODS We identified 15,863 and 1,453 patients with BrM utilizing Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER)-Medicare data (2008-2016) and Brigham and Women's Hospital/Dana Farber Cancer Institute (2000-2015) institutional data, respectively. Cumulative incidence curves and Fine/Gray competing risks regression were used to characterize seizure incidence and risk factors, respectively. RESULTS Among SEER-Medicare and institutional patients, 1,588 (10.0%) and 169 (11.6%) developed seizures, respectively. On multivariable regression of the SEER-Medicare cohort, Black vs White race (hazard ratio [HR] 1.45 [95% confidence interval (CI), 1.22-1.73], p < 0.001), urban vs nonurban residence (HR 1.41 [95% CI, 1.17-1.70], p < 0.001), melanoma vs non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) as primary tumor type (HR 1.44 [95% CI, 1.20-1.73], p < 0.001), and receipt of brain-directed stereotactic radiation (HR 1.67 [95% CI, 1.44-1.94], p < 0.001) were associated with greater seizure risk. On multivariable regression of the institutional cohort, melanoma vs NSCLC (HR 1.70 [95% CI, 1.09-2.64], p = 0.02), >4 BrM at diagnosis (HR 1.60 [95% CI, 1.12-2.29], p = 0.01), presence of BrM in a high-risk location (HR 3.62 [95% CI, 1.60-8.18], p = 0.002), and lack of local brain-directed therapy (HR 3.08 [95% CI, 1.45-6.52], p = 0.003) were associated with greater risk of seizure development. CONCLUSIONS The role of antiseizure medications among select patients with BrM should be re-explored, particularly for those with melanoma, a greater intracranial disease burden, or BrM in high-risk locations.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Seizures impair patients' quality of life. The prognostic role of pre-treatment seizures in patients with 1-3 cerebral metastases receiving local therapies plus whole-brain radiotherapy (WBRT) was investigated. PATIENTS AND METHODS In 249 patients, prevalence, risk factors and associations of pre-treatment seizures with survival were retrospectively evaluated. Age, gender, performance score, tumor type, number of lesions, extra-cerebral metastases, and time from tumor diagnosis to treatment of cerebral metastasis were analyzed for associations with seizures. These characteristics and pre-treatment seizures were also analyzed for associations with survival. RESULTS The prevalence of pre-treatment seizures was 24.1%. Trends for associations were found between seizures and gender or performance score. On multivariate analysis, age (p=0.008), performance score (p=0.004), tumor type (p<0.001) and extra-cerebral metastasis (p<0.001) were significantly associated with survival. CONCLUSION Seizures were comparably common prior to local therapies plus WBRT for cerebral metastases. No factor was found to be significantly associated with seizures, and seizures were not associated with survival.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/AIM Seizures can be the initial symptom of brain metastases. This study investigated pre-treatment seizures in patients with a single lesion. PATIENTS AND METHODS Pre-operative seizures were analyzed in 104 patients with a single brain metastasis receiving resection plus whole-brain irradiation and a boost. Prevalence of seizures, risk factors and associations with survival (OS) were evaluated. RESULTS Thirty patients (34.6%) had seizures prior to neurosurgery. Significant associations between seizures and investigated characteristics were not found. However, age ≤61 years showed a trend (p=0.117) for increased incidence of seizures. Time from diagnosis of malignancy until neurosurgery >12 months was significantly associated with improved OS on univariate analysis (p=0.003). Trends for a positive association with OS were found for no seizures (p=0.054), female gender (p=0.066) and breast cancer (p=0.098). On multivariate analysis, time until neurosurgery >12 months was independently associated (p=0.019) with better OS, and seizures showed a trend (p=0.119) for improved OS. CONCLUSIONS Considering the high prevalence of seizures in this cohort, regular screening and monitoring of these patients appears reasonable. This applies particularly to patients aged ≤61 years.
