Investigation of Nanoparticle as a Drug Carrier Suspended in a Blood Flowing Through an Inclined Multiple Stenosed Artery

Analytical and numerical investigation of thermal distribution for hybrid nanofluid through an oblique artery with mild stenosis

In this study, the accuracy of three methods to simulate the thermal diffusivity profile in oblique stenosis artery with hybrid nanofluid and the influence of volume fraction and heat sources in the hybrid nanofluid, including Al2O3 and Cu, is studied. Comparing the analytical methods for reliable answers is important in the new studies. Also, the influence of volume fraction and heat source parameter S in temperature evolution is studied. Akbari–Ganji Method (AGM), Finite Element Method (FEM), and Runge–Kutta method are studied to calculate the stenosis artery's heat profile. The results are compared by reference value, AGM is the more accurate method than FEM and Runge–Kutta methods by less than 7 percent error, and FEM is more accurate than Runge–Kutta by less than 9 percent error. The maximum difference between the three methods happened near the wall of the vessel. 0.02, 0.03, and 0.05 is the volume fraction chosen for studying. Changing the volume fraction of nanoparticles is studied by enhancing the volume fraction of Nanoparticles and presenting the Al2O3, and Cu decreases the max temperature profile and increases the heat source by increasing the maximum heat temperature. Al2O3 has more influence on maximum heat temperature and decreases the temperature profile more.

Significance of Hall currents on hybrid nano-blood flow through an inclined artery having mild stenosis: Homotopy perturbation approach

The rheological perspective of blood flow with the suspension of metallic or non-metallic nanoparticles through arteries having cardiovascular diseases is getting more attention due to momentous applications in obstructed hemodynamics, nano-hemodynamics, nano-pharmacology, blood purification system, treatment of hemodynamic ailments, etc. Motivated by the novel significance and research in this direction, a mathematical hemodynamics model is developed to mimic the hemodynamic features of blood flow under the concentration of hybrid nanoparticles through an inclined artery with mild stenosis in the existence of dominating electromagnetic field force, Hall currents, heat source, and porous substance. Copper (Cu) and copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles are submerged into the blood to form hybrid nano-blood suspension (Cu-CuO/blood). The attribute of the medium porosity on the blood flow is featured by Darcy's law. The mathematical equations describing the flow are formulated and simplified under mild stenosis and small Reynolds number assumptions. To determine the analytical solution of the resulting nonlinear momentum equation, the homotopy perturbation method (HPM) is employed. Several figures are graphed to assess the hemodynamical contributions of various intricate physical parameters on blood flow phenomena through the inclined stenosed artery. Significant outcomes from graphical elucidation envisage that the hemodynamic resistance to the blood flow is reduced due to the dispersion of more hybrid nanoparticles in the blood. The hemodynamic resistance (impedance) increases approximately two times by dispersing 0.11% hybrid nanoparticles in the blood flow. The temperature of Cu-CuO/blood is found to be lower in comparison to Cu-blood and pure blood. Intensification of Hall parameter attenuates the wall shear stress at the arterial wall. The trapping phenomena are also outlined via streamline plots which exemplify the blood flow pattern in the stenosed artery under the variation of the emerging parameters. As anticipated, the addition of a large number of hybrid nanoparticles significantly modulates the blood flow pattern in the stenotic region. The novel feature of this model is the impressive impact of Hall currents on hybrid nanoparticle doped blood flow through the stenosed artery. There is another piece of significance is that HPM is the most suitable method to handle the nonlinear momentum equation under the aforementioned flow constraints. Outcomes of this simulation may be valuable for advanced study and research in biomedical engineering, bio-nanofluid mechanics, nano-pharmacodynamics.

The Effect of Hematocrit and Nanoparticles Diameter on Hemodynamic Parameters and Drug Delivery in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm with Consideration of Blood Pulsatile Flow

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE

The present article has simulated to investigate the efficient hemodynamic parameters, the drug persistence, and drug distribution on an abdominal aortic aneurysm.

METHODS

Blood as a non-Newtonian fluid enters the artery acting as a real pulse waveform; its behavior is dependent on hematocrit and strain rate. In this simulation of computational fluid dynamic, magnetic nanoparticles of iron oxide which were in advance coated with the drug, are injected into the artery during a cardiac cycle. A two-phase model was applied to investigate the distribution of these carriers.

RESULTS

The results are presented for different hematocrits and the nanoparticle diameter. It is observed that hematocrit significantly affects drug persistence, so that lower hematocrit incites more accumulation of the drug in the dilatation part of the artery. The better drug accumulation is noticed, at the higher wall shear stress. Although no considerable impact on the flow pattern and wall shear stress was found with various nanoparticle diameters, the smaller size of the nanoparticles results in a greater amount of drug augmentation in the aneurysm wall output.

CONCLUSIONS

At the higher hematocrit levels, the blood resistance to drug delivery increases throughout the artery. Also, the drug accumulates less on the aneurysm wall and stays longer on the aneurysm wall. On the contrary, the drug accumulates more by decreasing hematocrit level and stays shorter on the aneurysm wall. Moreover, the maximum drug concentration is observed at the lowest hematocrit level and nanoparticle diameter; also, the diameter of nanoparticles imposes no significant effect on the vorticity and wall shear stress. It is seen that the increment of the hematocrit level reduces the strength of vorticity and increases the amount of wall shear stress in the dilatation segment of the artery. The shear stress at three points of the dilatation wall is extreme, where the maximum density of nanoparticles occurs.
