Abstract
ABSTRACT Struma ovarii is a rare form of ovarian teratoma composed entirely or mainly of mature thyroid tissue. A 55-year-old woman with persistent hypogastric pain for 4 months was admitted to our hospital. She had undergone resection of struma ovarii 4 years ago. Contrast-enhanced CT shows multiple significantly enhanced nodules scattered in the abdominopelvic cavity. Pathological examination of the nodule in the left pararenal region demonstrated thyroid-like follicular epithelium. Herein, we present the 99m TcO 4 whole-body scintigraphy SPECT/CT findings of a case of struma ovarii with extensive peritoneal implants metastasis. Then, she was treated with total thyroidectomy and 131 I therapy.

Abstract
The accuracy of recently approved quantitative clinical software was determined by comparing in vivo/in vitro measurements for a solid-state cadmium-zinc-telluride SPECT/CT (single photon emission computed tomography/x-ray computed tomography) camera. Bone SPECT/CT, including the pelvic region in the field of view, was performed on 16 patients using technetium-99m methylene diphosphonic acid as a radiotracer. After imaging, urine samples from each patient provided for the measurement of in vitro radiopharmaceutical concentrations. From the SPECT/CT images, three users measured in vivo radiotracer concentration and standardized uptake value (SUV) for the bladder using quantitative software (Q.Metrix, GE Healthcare). Linear regression was used to validate any in vivo/in vitro identity relations (ideally slope = 1, intercept = 0), within a 95% confidence interval (CI). Thirteen in vivo/in vitro pairs were available for further analysis, after rejecting two as clinically irrelevant (SUVs > 100 g/mL) and one as an outlier (via Cook's distance calculations). All linear regressions (R2 ≥ 0.85, P < 0.0001) provided identity in vivo/in vitro relations (95% CI), with SUV averages from all users giving a slope of 0.99 ± 0.25 and intercept of 0.14 ± 5.15 g/mL. The average in vivo/in vitro residual difference was < 20%. Solid-state SPECT/CT imaging can reliably provide in vivo urinary bladder radiotracer concentrations within approximately 20% accuracy. This practical, non-invasive, in vivo quantitation method can potentially improve diagnosis and assessment of response to treatment. Graphical abstract.

Abstract
Background Struma ovarii is a rare ovarian neoplasm that often appears malignant on conventional imaging. Pseudo-Meigs’ syndrome with ascites, pleural effusion, and elevated serum CA 125 levels is much rarer and leads to misdiagnosis of ovarian cancer and unnecessary extended surgery. Case presentation A 50-year-old woman with abdominal distention and dyspnoea was referred to our hospital. Ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a polycystic ovarian tumor with a solid component, pleural effusion, and massive ascites with negative cytology. Her serum CA 125 level was 1237 U/ml, indicating the presence of ovarian cancer. Based on increased uptake of 131I but no uptake of 18F–FDG in the tumor, the preoperative diagnosis was struma ovarii with pseudo-Meigs’ syndrome, which was confirmed histologically. She had no evidence of ascites and pleural effusion six months after surgery. Conclusions To date, there have been no systematic reviews focused on preoperative diagnosis with imaging modalities. The combination of 131I scintigraphy and 18F–FDG PET/CT in addition to conventional imaging modalities can provide the precise preoperative diagnosis of struma ovarii with pseudo-Meigs’ syndrome mimicking ovarian cancer, leading to the appropriate treatment strategy.

Abstract
Purpose We propose a quantitative Tc-99m diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DTPA) single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) for glomerular filtration rate (GFR) measurement. Methods Quantitative SPECT/CT data obtained at 2-3 min post-Tc-99m DTPA injection (370 MBq) were used to determine % injected doses (%IDs) for individual kidneys. The reproducibility of %ID measurement was tested and compared with planar scintigraphy. Cr-51 ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) GFR was used as reference standard. Nine young volunteers, representing normal GFR, and ten older volunteers, reflecting impaired GFR, were enrolled. The established GFR equation derived from these volunteers was applied to 19 renal tumor patients post-partial nephrectomy. Results At 2-3 min, %ID was most reproducible with the highest intraclass correlation (ICC) (0.9379) and lowest % coefficient of variation (CV) (6.5259%), which were more reliable than the ICC (0.9368) and %CV (6.7689%) of planar scintigraphy. Cr-51 EDTA GFR (93.16 ± 24.81 ml/min) correlated significantly with %ID (7.66 ± 2.15%, r = 0.7906, p = 0.0001), yielding an equation: Cr-51 EDTA GFR (ml/min) = (%ID × 9.1462) + 23.0653. This equation revealed significant decreases in total and nephrectomized kidney GFR (p = 0.0012 and p < 0.0001, respectively) from preoperative to 3-month postoperative measurements. Conclusions Quantitative Tc-99m DTPA SPECT/CT produces reliable and clinically applicable %ID estimates that translate to the GFR of individual kidneys.

Abstract
A 30-year-old woman with hyperthyroidism was admitted to hospital. Although increased thyroid function was found, the gland was normal in ultrasonography (USG). Additionally, thyroid iodine uptake and Tc-99m pertechnetate scintigraphy was normal. Abdomen USG detected a cystic pelvic mass in left ovary. A whole-body scan was performed 48 hours after oral ingestion of 29.6 MBq (0.8 mCi) I-131 (iodine-131) revealed a round structure located to the left lower abdomen. Iodine uptake was detected in this cyst which was compatible with functional thyroid tissue demonstrated by SPECT/CT. The patient was underwent surgical operation and histopathology confirmed mature cystic teratoma. Accurate localization and depiction of thyroid tissue in ovary mass was provided with SPECT/CT.
