Abstract
Sample preparation techniques enabling the separation and cleanup of nanoplastics removing other components present in complex sample matrices are scarce. Herein, micro-electromembrane extraction (μ-EME) has been explored for this purpose based on the extraction of nanoplastic particles across a free liquid membrane (FLM). The extraction unit is based on a perfluoroalkoxy tube sequentially filled with the acceptor solution (20 μL 5 mM phosphate buffer, pH 10.7), FLM (10 μL 1-pentanol), and donor solution (20 μL sample/standard solution). Sulfonated polystyrene beads (200 nm particle size) were selected as a model mimicking negatively charged nanoplastics. At 700 V, nanoplastics transferred from the donor solution into the FLM before moving across the FLM into the acceptor solution. Quantitative nanoplastic measurements after μ-EME were performed by injecting the acceptor solution into a capillary electrophoresis system with diode array detection. μ-EME allowed the rapid nanoplastic sample cleanup, requiring an extraction time of just 90 s and obtaining a nanoplastic transfer yield through the FLM of 60% with RSD values below 9%. The μ-EME technique enabled the efficient sample matrix cleanup of nanoplastics spiked in different tea matrices. Nanoplastic transfer yield through the FLM for black tea and flavored tea matrices were 56% and 47%, respectively, with complete sample matrix removal of UV-absorbing compounds.

Abstract
A method using dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) prior to high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) was developed to determine seven additives from the plastics industry (butylated hydroxytoluene, diisodecyl phthalate, irgafos 168, lawsone, quercetin, triclosan and vitamin E) in seawater samples. These compounds can reach seawater due to direct discharge from wastewater treatment plants and leaching from plastics and microplastics. The extraction was performed using 25 mL of seawater, 500 μL of 1-octanol (extraction solvent) and a stirring step instead of dispersive solvent. Additive concentrations were determined by LC-DAD on a C18 column with a mobile phase of acetonitrile and phosphoric acid aqueous solution (pH 3.5) by gradient elution. The analytical recoveries ranged from 82 to 93% for all compounds, except for lawsone (60%). Repeatability and intermediate precision were adequate with RSD < calculated values following the Horwitz equation at the concentration levels evaluated (0.06 and 0.24 mg L-1). All additives exhibited linear matrix calibration curves (R2 > 0.99). Detection limits ranged from 0.009 to 0.028 mg L-1 and quantification limits ranged from 0.027 to 0.084 mg L-1. Finally, the application of the method to real samples verified the method as accurate and applicable to seawater.

Abstract
Flavonoids are plant-derived compounds that have several health benefits, including antioxidative, anti-inflammatory, anti-mutagenic, and anti-carcinogenic effects. Quercetin is a flavonoid that is widely present in various fruits, vegetables, and drinks. Accurate determination of quercetin in different samples is of great importance for its potential health benefits. This review, is an overview of sample preparation and determination methods for quercetin in diverse matrices. Previous research on sample preparation and determination methods for quercetin are summarized, highlighting the advantages and disadvantages of each method and providing insights into recent developments in quercetin sample treatment. Various analytical techniques are discussed including spectroscopic, chromatographic, electrophoretic, and electrochemical methods for the determination of quercetin and its derivatives in different samples. UV-Vis (Ultraviolet-visible) spectrophotometry is simple and inexpensive but lacks selectivity. Chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC) offer selectivity and sensitivity, while electrophoretic and electrochemical methods provide high resolution and low detection limits, respectively. The aim of this review is to comprehensively explore the determination methods for quercetin and quercetin glycosides in diverse matrices, with emphasis on pharmaceutical and biological samples. The review also provides a theoretical basis for method development and application for the analysis of quercetin and quercetin glycosides in real samples.

Abstract
In this study, magnetic mesoporous silica-Fe3O4-graphene oxide nanoparticles (Fe3O4@GO@mSiO2) were synthesized and used as sorbents for magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) of trace amounts of quercetin in natural samples (spinach, green pepper, dill, and red onion). The sorbent produced was characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The effects of various experimental factors on the percent recovery of quercetin, including extraction time, desorption time, sample solution pH, and adsorbent amount were investigated. The Fe3O4@GO@mSiO2 strategy showed excellent stability and sensitivity for the determination of quercetin, with a suitable linear range of 20-800 µg L-1 and a detection limit of 5.2 µg L-1. The data indicate that Fe3O4@GO@mSiO2 has a specific surface area and suitable adsorption capacity for the determination of quercetin.

Abstract
Miniaturization of liquid-liquid extraction is a growing field of sample preparation to reduce solvent consumption, protect the environment, and preserve operators' health. In this work, four different modes of liquid-liquid microextraction have been compared including dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction, binary and ternary salting-out, and sugaring-out induced liquid-liquid microextraction. The extraction efficiency was evaluated by the enrichment factors of 14 different drugs from three pharmacological classes. Compared with the other modes, sugaring-out induced liquid-liquid microextraction was found to be the most efficient and, thus, it was applied for sample preparation of the antivirals in human plasma. Method optimization was performed using response surface methodology for the sugar type and amount (in mg), the sample pH, the equilibration time (in min), and the extractant volume (in µL). The method was then validated and found linear in the concentration range of 0.10-10 µg/mL for daclatasvir, 0.05-10 µg/mL for velpatasvir, and 0.20-10 µg/mL for ledipasvir, with correlation coefficients in the range 0.996-0.999. These results shows that sugaring-out induced liquid-liquid microextraction could be a more efficient microextraction mode for preparation of biological samples. Compared with other types of microextraction, sugaring-out induced liquid-liquid microextraction is greener, simpler, and cost-effective, with less tendency to affect the sample pH.

Abstract
A novel and environmentally-friendly method, which includes determination of trace amounts of quercetin in samples by using UV-vis spectrophotometry after enrichment with amine-based liquid phase microextraction (LPME), has been developed. As extraction solvent, N,N-dimethyl-n-octylamine has been used and the quercetin concentration in extraction phase was determined by UV-vis spectrophotometry at 382.5 nm. Important analytical parameters such as pH, extraction solvent type and volume, sample volume, extraction time were optimized by the method. Quercetin in the sample solution was extracted to 200 μL of N,N-dimethyl-n-octylamine phase at pH 4.0. The detection limit (LOD) and the quantitation limit (LOQ) values for quercetin were calculated as 0.07 μg·mL-1 and 0.24 μg·mL-1, respectively. Accuracy studies for the food samples was carried out by addition and recovery experiments. The developed method has been successfully applied to different food samples including spinach, green pepper, red onion and dill weed.

Abstract
Extraction and determination of three flavonoids (morin, quercetin, and kaempferol) were performed by dispersive magnetic solid phase extraction based on mixed hemi/ad-micelles and high-performance liquid chromatography with UV detection. The Fe3 O4 /SiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction, FTIR, scanning electron microscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. Fe3 O4 /SiO2 nanoparticles coated with mixed hemi/ad-micelles cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide was applied as a sorbent and used for extraction of flavonoids. Effective parameters on the extraction recovery such as amount of magnetic nano particles, volume of cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide solution with specific concentration, pH of sample solution, adsorption equilibrium time, volume of desorption solvent, and desorption times were evaluated and optimized using fractional factorial design and central composite design. Under the optimum condition limit of detection and linearity were 0.83, 2.7-500.0 for morin, 0.18, 0.7-500.0 for quercetin and, 0.37, 1.3-500.0 µg/L for kaempferol. The extraction recovery with relative standard deviation were 97.88, 1.94 for morin, 95.77, 0.80 for quercetin, and 93.35, 1.45 for kaempferol. The proposed method was applied for simultaneous extraction and determination of flavonoids in several fruit juices and vegetable samples.

Abstract
The aim of our study is to develop a new vortex assisted-ionic liquid dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (VA-IL-DLLM) method for preconcentration and determination of the quercetin in tea, honey, fruit juice and wine samples by spectrophotometry. The method is based on pH sensitive ion-pair formation between quercetin and rhodamine B at pH 6.5 by donor-acceptor mechanism, and then dispersion of the complex in the fine-drops of ionic liquid (IL). In this context, the effects of pH, concentrations of ion-pairing reagent, the IL, vortex time and dispersive solvent type on the preconcentration process of quercetin were investigated using a 2-level-5-factor central composite half fraction design (CCD) as experimental design for response surface methodology (RSM). Quantitative model was developed to determine the quercetin in food samples, and it is verified by analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a 95% confidence level (P < 0.05). Response surface plots and contour plots obtained by the model are used to determine the interactions of experimental variables. After the optimization, calibration graph was obtained between 35 and 750 μg L-1 with the detection limit of 10.2 μg L-1. The recovery and relative standard deviations (RSD%) were in range of 94-104%, and in range of 2.5-4.2%, respectively. The accuracy and precision of the method were tested by the experimental studies such as recoveries, intermediate precision, trueness and expanded uncertainty. A comparison of the current results to those reported for other studies is also presented.
