Abstract
This experiment was done to study the zeolite molecular sieve as a drug-binding effector, the non-antibiotic drug potassium diformate uniformly disperse in the internal aqueous phase of the 'egg box' structure formed by pectin-calcium ions. With oil phase as the intermediate phase and Xanthan gum Chitosan as the external water phase, the W/O/W type sustained release bacteriostatic microcapsules with pH response were prepared and characterized by Fourier transform infrared, thermogravimetric, SEM, and TEM. It can be obtained through characterization experiments that the inner water phase, oil phase, and outer water phase were formed by observation, and W/O/W emulsion microcapsules were obtained and the bacteriostasis effect of microcapsules was verified by bacteriostasis experiment. The permeance experiment showed that the molecular sieve was successfully coated in the microsphere. Studying on drug release mechanism and sustaining release performance of composite emulsion microcapsules. In vitro drug release study showed that the encapsulation efficiency and drug loading rate of microcapsules were improved by adding molecular sieve, reaching 12.31% and 61.55%, respectively. At the same time, we observed that the drug release rate slowed down during the simulated intestinal release process, and the drug release kinetics were in line with the first-order kinetic model and Ritger-Peppas model equation. Experiments had proven that the drug-loaded microcapsules exerted a significant bacteriostatic effect on Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Bacillus subtilis, with the highest antibacterial rates of 97.25%, 94.05%, and 95.93%, respectively. Therefore, the composite emulsion microcapsules can be used as a new controlled-release drug delivery system in vivo.

Abstract
Maintaining structural integrity and enhancing stability of inactivated foot-and-mouth disease virus (iFMDV) antigen in adjuvants is crucial to ensure the vaccine potency. Unfortunately, formulation with most reported adjuvants leads to the accelerated dissociation of iFMDV into inactive pentamers. Here, an ionic liquid, i.e., choline and niacin ([Cho][Nic]), which was found to stabilize iFMDV against the acid- and thermo- induced dissociation in buffer solution, was applied to construct a novel oil-in-ionic liquid (o/IL) nanoemulsion adjuvant composed of [Cho][Nic], squalene, and Tween 80. The o/IL nanoemulsion formulated with iFMDV has a monodisperse diameter of 135.8 ± 40.4 nm. The thermostability and long-term stability of iFMDV were remarkably enhanced in o/IL nanoemulsion compared with that in the o/w emulsion without [Cho][Nic] and in the commercial Montanide ISA 206 adjuvant. The o/IL nanoemulsion exerted its adjuvant effects by improving the humoral immune responses. Immunization of o/IL nanoemulsion adjuvanted iFMDV induced specific IgG titers similar to that adjuvanted by Montanide ISA 206 and about 4-fold higher than the un-adjuvanted iFMDV, also promoted the activation of B lymphocytes and the secretion of interleukin-4 in the mice model. This [Cho][Nic]-based o/IL nanoemulsion can serve as a promising adjuvant platform for the foot-and-mouth disease vaccine.

Abstract
Using retinoic acid to inducer, we successfully established a rat model of secondary osteoporosis and verified the preventive effect of Lactobacillus fermentum ZS40 (ZS40) on secondary osteoporosis. Serum biochemical indicators showed that ZS40 can effectively slow down bone resorption caused by retinoic acid, increase blood content of calcium, phosphorus, bone alkaline phosphatase, bone gla protein, and insulin-like growth factor 1, and decrease blood content of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) 5b. qRT-PCR results showed that ZS40 could upregulate mRNA expressions of β-catenin, Wnt10b, Lrp5, Lrp6, Runx2, ALP, RANKL, and OPG, and downregulate mRNA expression of DKK1, RANK, TRACP, and CTSK in the rats' spinal cord. Results following TRAP staining showed that ZS40 could slow down retinoic acid-induced formation of osteoclasts. Micro-CT results showed that ZS40 could reduce Tb.Sp, increase BV/TV, Tb.N, Tb.Th, and ultimately increase bone mineral density of rats in vivo. These findings indicate that ZS40 might have a potential role in preventing retinoic acid-induced secondary osteoporosis in vivo.

Abstract
Multiple Emulsions (MEs) contain a drop laden with many micro-droplets. A single-step microfluidic-based synthesis process of MEs is presented to provide a rapid and controlled generation of monodisperse MEs. The design relies on the interaction of three immiscible fluids with each other in subsequent droplet formation steps to generate monodisperse ME constructs. The design is within a microchannel consists of two compartments of cross-junction and T-junction. The high shear stress at the cross-junction creates a stagnation point that splits the first immiscible phase to four jet streams each of which are sprayed to micrometer droplets surrounded by the second phase. The resulted structure is then supported by the third phase at the T-junction to generate and transport MEs. The ME formation within microfluidics is numerically simulated and the effects of several key parameters on properties of MEs are investigated. The dimensionless modeling of ME formation enables to change only one parameter at the time and analyze the sensitivity of the system to each parameter. The results demonstrate the capability of highly controlled and high-throughput MEs formation in a one-step synthesis process. The consecutive MEs are monodisperse in size which open avenues for the generation of controlled MEs for different applications.
