Abstract
Heterogeneous CO oxidation is a demanding reaction at room temperature due to the high activation energy required to break the O=O bond. While several metal clusters are reported to oxidize CO successfully, they fall short of their selectivity for the reaction and recyclability. In this regard, there is a need for economic catalysts with high catalytic activity, low activation barrier, and reusability. In this study, we have investigated the catalytic activity of the neutral pristine and ligated Ag11 cluster toward CO oxidation. We investigated the attachment effect of three organic donor ligands: trimethylphosphine, triethylphosphine, and N-ethyl pyrrolidone to the Ag11 cluster. Our results show that including donor ligands on the Ag11 cluster surface can significantly reduce the barrier heights for CO oxidation. The minimum barrier heights with the system coordinated with triethylphosphine showed the lowest activation barrier of 1.06 kcal/mol compared to the high activation barrier of 14.77 kcal/mol recorded for the pristine cluster. Exploration of the reaction mechanism and charge analysis showed that the electron donor ligands activate O2 via charge donation, thereby reducing the barrier heights of CO oxidation.

Heterogeneous Gold Nanoparticle-Based Catalysts for the Synthesis of Click-Derived Triazoles via the Azide-Alkyne Cycloaddition Reaction. Catalysts 2021. Abstract
A supported gold nanoparticle-catalyzed strategy has been utilized to promote a click chemistry reaction for the synthesis of 1,2,3-triazoles via the azide-alkyne cycloaddition (AAC) reaction. While the advent of effective non-copper catalysts (i.e., Ru, Ag, Ir) has demonstrated the catalysis of the AAC reaction, additional robust catalytic systems complementary to the copper catalyzed AAC remain in high demand. Herein, Au nanoparticles supported on Al2O3, Fe2O3, TiO2 and ZnO, along with gold reference catalysts (gold on carbon and gold on titania supplied by the World Gold Council) were used as catalysts for the AAC reaction. The supported Au nanoparticles with metal loadings of 0.7–1.6% (w/w relative to support) were able to selectively obtain 1,4-disubstituted-1,2,3-triazoles in moderate yields up to 79% after 15 min, under microwave irradiation at 150 °C using a 0.5–1.0 mol% catalyst loading through a one-pot three-component (terminal alkyne, organohalide and sodium azide) procedure according to the “click” rules. Among the supported Au catalysts, Au/TiO2 gave the best results.

Abstract
Considerable efforts to reduce the harmful emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) have been directed towards the development of highly active and economically viable catalytic materials for complete hydrocarbon oxidation. The present study is focused on the complete benzene oxidation as a probe reaction for VOCs abatement over Co3O4-CeO2 mixed oxides (20, 30, and 40 wt.% of ceria) synthesized by the more sustainable, in terms of less waste, less energy and less hazard, mechanochemical mixing of cerium hydroxide and cobalt hydroxycarbonate precursors. The catalysts were characterized by BET, powder XRD, H2-TPR, UV resonance Raman spectroscopy, and XPS techniques. The mixed oxides exhibited superior catalytic activity in comparison with Co3O4, thus, confirming the promotional role of ceria. The close interaction between Co3O4 and CeO2 phases, induced by mechanochemical treatment, led to strained Co3O4 and CeO2 surface structures. The most significant surface defectiveness was attained for 70 wt.% Co3O4-30 wt.% CeO2. A trend of the highest surface amount of Co3+, Ce3+ and adsorbed oxygen species was evidenced for the sample with this optimal composition. The catalyst exhibited the best performance and 100% benzene conversion was reached at 200 °C (relatively low temperature for noble metal-free oxide catalysts). The catalytic activity at 200 °C was stable without any products of incomplete benzene oxidation. The results showed promising catalytic properties for effective VOCs elimination over low-cost Co3O4-CeO2 mixed oxides synthesized by simple and eco-friendly mechanochemical mixing.

Abstract
Supporting gold nanoparticles have shown to be extremely active for many industrially important reactions, including oxidations. Two representative examples are the oxidation of alcohols and alkanes, that are substrates of industrial interest, but whose oxidation is still challenging. This review deals with these reactions, giving an insight of the first studies performed by gold based catalysts in these reactions and the most recent developments in the field.

Abstract
The development of reliable processes for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles is an important aspect of current nanotechnology research. Recently, reports are published on the extracellular as well as intracellular biosynthesis of gold nanoparticles using microorganisms. However, these methods of synthesis are rather slow. In present study, rapid and extracellular synthesis of gold nanoparticles using a plant pathogenic fungus F. oxysporum f. sp. cubense JT1 (FocJT1) is reported. Incubation of FocJT1 mycelium with auric chloride solution produces gold nanoparticles in 60 min. Gold nanoparticles were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, FTIR, and particle size analysis. The particles synthesized were of 22 nm sized, capped by proteins, and posed antimicrobial activity against Pseudomonas sp.
