Abstract
In this study, synthesize and insight the corrosion inhibition properties of two novel derivatives of 1-naphthyl-2-cyanoacetamide (NCDs) [2-cyano-2-((5,6-dimethyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl) diazenyl)-N (naphthalene-1-yl)acetamide] (NCD1) and [2-Cyano-N-(naphthalene-1-yl)-2-[(4,6-dimethyl-1H-pyrazolo [3, 4-b] pyridine-3-yl) hydrazono] acetamide] (NCD2). The characterization of the synthesized NCDs was confirmed through the utilization of Mass fragmentation analysis, 1H-NMR, and IR. The corrosion inhibition performance of NCDs as a novel and environmentally safe corrosion inhibitor has been investigated by electrochemical techniques, a chemical technique, and theoretical studies for its anti-corrosion behavior of Inconel 800 in chloride medium. In addition, the surface morphology and inhibitor adsorption on the Inconel 800 surface were confirmed utilizing SEM, EDX, FTIR, and AFM. The advantages of NCDs include their low toxicity, environmental friendliness, ease of preparation, low odor, contain (N, O, and π-Bonds), and the inhibition efficiency elevated with decreasing solution temperature as well as inhibitor dose increase, yielding increased efficiencies of 91.8% and 95.7% for NCD1 and NCD2, respectively, at the optimum concentration of 21 × 10-6 mol. L-1 and 298 K temperature. An analysis of Tafel plots reveals that NCDs adhere to a mixed and isothermal Langmuir adsorption mechanism. Density Functional Theory (DFT) and Monte Carlo (MC) simulation manifest the two compounds of NCDs can be adsorbed at the Fe (110) surface in a paralleled way, and can have a smaller energy gap (ΔE) value and exhibit higher efficiency. The experimental and theoretical findings confirm that the synthesized compounds obtained are capable of protecting the Inconel 800 from corrosion by creating an anti-corrosion coating on the surface.

Abstract
Candida albicans are highly widespread pathogenic fungi in humans. Moreover, its developed biofilm causes serious clinical problems, leading to drug failure caused by its inherent drug tolerance. Hence, the inhibition of biofilm formation and virulence characteristics provide other means of addressing infections. Polymer composites (PCs) derived from natural products have attracted increasing interest in the scientific community, including antimicrobial applications. PCs are a good alternative approach to solving this challenge because of their excellent penetration power inside biofilms. The main objectives of this study were to synthesize a novel curcumin-based polybenzoxazine polymer composite (poly(Cu-A) PC) using Mannich condensation reaction and evaluate their potency as an antibiofilm and anticorrosive candidate against C. albicans. In addition, their anticorrosive efficacy was also explored. PC exhibited significant antibiofilm efficacy versus C. albicans DAY185 by the morphologic changing of yeast to hyphae, and>90% anticorrosive efficacy was observed at a higher dose of PC. These prepared PC were safe in vivo against Caenorhabditis elegans and Raphanus raphanistrum. The study shows that a polybenzoxazine polymer composite has the potential for controlling biofilm-associated fungal infections and virulence by C. albicans, and opens a new avenue for designing PCs as antifungal, anticorrosive agents for biofilm-associated fungal infections and industrial remediation.

Abstract
Inhibition of copper corrosion by some pyrimidinone derivatives, namely; (E)-N-(3-((1,3-dimethyl-2,4,6-trioxohexahydropyrimidin-5-yl)diazenyl)-2,5-diethoxyphenyl)benzamide (MA-975) and(E)-6-(4-((4-chlorophenyl)diazenyl)-3-methyl-5-oxo-4,5-dihydro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)-1,3 dimethylpyrimidine-2,4(1H,3H)-dione (MA-978C) in 1.0 M nitric acid (HNO3) was studied using weight loss (WL), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and potentiodynamic polarization (PP) measurements. The efficiency of inhibition increases as the concentration of inhibitor increases, and it also increases as the temperature increases. With the addition of the examined inhibitors, significant corrosion protection was obtained, and (MA-975) showed a very promising % IE (89.59%) at 21 × 10−6 M using the (WL) method. The polarization data revealed that these compounds act as mixed-type compounds and are adsorbed on the copper surface following Langmuir adsorption isotherm forming a protective thin film protecting the metal in the corrosive media. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray were used to examine the surface morphology of copper samples. Quantum calculations and Monte Carlo simulation techniques were applied with informative yields and the results matched the experimental findings.

Abstract
This paper addresses the prediction of the adsorption behavior as well as the inhibition capacity of non-toxic sulfonamide-based molecules, also called sulfa drugs, on the surface of mild steel. The study of the electronic structure was investigated through quantum chemical calculations using the density functional theory method (DFT) and the direct interaction of inhibitors with the iron (Fe) metal surface was predicted using the multiple probability Monte Carlo simulations (MC). Then, the examination of the solubility and the environmental toxicity was confirmed using a chemical database modeling environment website. It was shown that the presence of substituents containing heteroatoms able to release electrons consequently increased the electron density in the lowest unoccupied and highest occupied molecular orbitals (LUMO and HOMO), which allowed a good interaction between the inhibitors and the steel surface. The high values of EHOMO imply an ability to donate electrons while the low values of ELUMO are related to the ability to accept electrons thus allowing good adsorption of the inhibitor molecules on the steel surface. Molecular dynamics simulations revealed that all sulfonamide molecules adsorb flat on the metal surface conforming to the highly protective Fe (1 1 0) surface. The results obtained from the quantum chemistry and molecular dynamics studies are consistent and reveal that the order of effectiveness of the sulfonamide compounds is P7 > P5 > P6 > P1 > P2 > P3 > P4.

Insights into Corrosion Inhibition Behavior of a 5-Mercapto-1, 2, 4-triazole Derivative for Mild Steel in Hydrochloric Acid Solution: Experimental and DFT Studies. LUBRICANTS 2021. Abstract
A triazole heterocyclic compound namely 3-(4-ethyl-5-mercapto-1, 2, 4-triazol-3-yl)-1-phenylpropanone (EMTP) was examined for its corrosion protection of mild steel (MS) against 1 M hydrochloric acid medium using gravimetric techniques. EMTP exhibited excellent corrosion protection performance at low and high concentrations towards MS in HCl solution. Comparison of corrosion protection performance of EMTP and its parent triazole and temperature effects of on inhibition efficacy were also studied. EMTP has potential corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in 1.0 M hydrochloric acid solution with the highest protection efficacy of 97% at 303 K. The weight loss findings implied that EMTP protects the metal surface corrosion through the creation of a protective layer at the surface mild steel–corrosive solution interface. The inhibitive efficacy increases with the increase of inhibitor concentration and decreases with increased temperature. The adsorption of EMTP on the surface of MS follows Langmuir’s adsorption isotherm process. DFT method was conducted on EMTP molecule to calculate the quantum chemical parameters and to determine the relationship between the molecular structure of EMTP and protection performance. The molecular parameters, such as energy gap and frontier molecular orbital (highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) and lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO)), and the absolute electronegativity (χ) value from inhibitor molecules to unoccupied d-orbital of iron atoms on the mild steel surface were also determined and correlated with protection efficiency. The theoretical findings revealed that the protection performance of EMTP increased with the increase in HOMO energy, and the nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur atoms are most probable positions for bonding through giving electrons to the d-orbital of iron atoms on the mild steel surface.

Abstract
The feasibility study of utilizing sunflower oil as renewable biomass source to develop highly effective inhibitors for mild steel corrosion (MS) in the 15% HCl medium was done by weight loss, potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), dynamic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (DEIS), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), supported with energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and field-emission scanning electron microscope (FESEM) techniques. Moreover, a complementary theoretical investigation was carried out to clarify the inhibition mechanism of inhibitors by density functional theory (DFT), density functional based tight-binding (DFTB), and molecular dynamics (MD) simulation approaches. The obtained results confirm that sunflower-oil-based corrosion inhibitor (SFOCI) has a significant anticorrosion property toward the dissolution of MS in 15% HCl solution in the temperature range 20-80 °C. In addition, the results show that SFOCI could provide an inhibition efficiency of 98 and 93% at 60 and 80 °C, respectively. The inhibition mechanism of SFOCIs was mixed-type and their adsorption on the surface of MS was mainly chemisorption. The FESEM and EDX studies proved the presence of SFOCI molecules on the surface of MS. In addition, the adsorption energy of SFOCI indicated an intense interaction between the inhibitor and surface of Fe. The results of this study could open a new window for the design and development of scalable and effective eco-friendly vegetable-oil-based corrosion inhibitors for highly corrosive solutions at high temperatures.

Abstract
AbstractThe aerial parts extract of Momordica charantia plant were used for the corrosion resistance of carbon steel in the acidic medium (0.5 M H2SO4) utilizing weight loss method, Tafel and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy. The state of mixed inhibitor adsorption on the carbon steel surface is shown by potentiodynamic polarization. M. charantia achieved the extraordinary inhibition efficiency of 93.51% at 500 mg/L of inhibitor concentration. Scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy were used to know about the thin layer which was formed on the surface of carbon steel for its protection from corrosion and the adsorption of inhibitor was shown by UV–vis. spectroscopic technique. Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy technique confirmed the existence of functional groups and the heteroatoms exhibit in the inhibitor. Adsorbance by the inhibitory molecules on the carbon steel surface followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Hypothetical investigations (computational) showed a very valuable report. All acquired outcomes ensure that M. charantia extract can procedure an effectual preventing layer and restrict the corrosion procedure.
