Abstract
A novel magnetic Bi2WO6/TiO2/Fe3O4 photocatalyst was synthesized by a hydrothermal approach. The pattern, structure, elemental composition, light-absorbing properties, and magnetism of Bi2WO6/TiO2/Fe3O4 were characterized and analyzed. The performance, influencing factors, and mechanism of Bi2WO6/TiO2/Fe3O4 towards bisphenol A (BPA) degradation were investigated and deduced. BPA removal up to 95% was achieved with the addition of 1.25 g/L Bi/Ti/Fe2 (molar ratio of Bi2WO6:TiO2:Fe3O4 = 2:1:0.17) in the solution containing 10 mg/L BPA at pH 5.6. The performance of Bi/Ti/Fe2 was stable for five cycles at least after extracted from the reacted solution by magnet. Photoexcited h+, •OH, and •O2- formed in the reaction mainly contributed to BPA degradation. The Bi/Ti/Fe2 composite was composed of a three-layer petal structure from outside to inside to be Bi2WO6, TiO2, and Fe3O4. This structure was conducive in forming a heterojunction between TiO2 and Bi2WO6, inhibiting the merging of photoexcited e- and h+, and improving the photocatalytic efficiency.

Abstract
In recent years, many endeavours have been prompted with photocatalytic nanomaterials by the need to eradicate pathogenic microorganisms from water bodies. Herein, a tocopherol-assisted Ag-Fe3O4-TiO2 nanocomposite (TAFTN) was synthesized for photocatalytic bacterial inactivation. The prepared TAFTN became active under sunlight due to its narrowed bandgap, inactivating the bacterial contaminants via photo-induced ROS stress. The ROS radicals destroy bacteria by creating oxidative stress, which damages the cell membrane and cellular components such as nucleic acids and proteins. For the first time, the nano-LC-MS/MS-based quantitative proteomics reveals that the disrupted proteins are involved in a variety of cellular functions; the most of these are involved in the metabolic pathway, eventually leading to bacterial death during TAFTN-photocatalysis under sunlight. Furthermore, the toxicity analysis confirmed that the inactivated bacteria seemed to have no detrimental impact on zebrafish model, showing that the disinfected water via TAFTN-photocatalysis is enormously safe. Furthermore, the TAFTN-photocatalysis successfully killed the bacterial cells in natural seawater, indicating the consistent photocatalytic efficacy when recycled repeatedly. The results of this work demonstrate that the produced nanocomposite might be a powerful recyclable and sunlight-active photocatalyst for environmental water treatment.

Abstract
Discharge of 2,4-dinitrotoluene (2,4-DNT) into the environment leads to a serious soil and water sources pollution problem, due to toxicity and possible carcinogenicity of this toxic substance. In this work, the photocatalytic degradation of 2,4-DNT was investigated using CoFe2O4/SiO2/TiO2 nanoparticles. The catalyst features were characterized by using XRD, TEM, EDX, UV-vis DRS, FTIR, and VSM techniques. The influence of different experimental factors on degradation efficiency including pH value, catalyst dosages, and initiate concentration of 2,4-DNT were investigated. Mineralization of the model pollutant was determined using TOC analysis under optimum conditions. A possible mechanism, process kinetic and reusability of magnetic photocatalyst were also performed. In optimum experimental conditions (pH=3, photocatalyst dosage=0.75 g/L, 2,4-DNT=0.025 g/L), degradation efficiency achieved 88.5% within 180-min reaction time with TOC removal of 55.6%. Dominate oxidizing radicals during the degradation of 2,4-DNT by CoFe2O4/SiO2/TiO2 were hydroxyl radicals. The photocatalytic degradation of 2,4-DNT followed first-order rate kinetics. After three successive use cycles, the degradation efficiency was reduced by 64%. Our results revealed that the synthesized CoFe2O4/SiO2/TiO2 photocatalyst was a good choice for degradation of 2,4-DNT, due to proper potential reusability and catalytic activity.

Abstract
Abstract
The fabrication and diverse applications of mixed oxides have received immense interest due to numerous prospects for better functional performance in tuning their properties compared to the basic metal oxides. Herein, we report synthesis of ZnO-CuO nanocomposites (NCs) using a simple and green route solution combustion method. The as-prepared ZnO-CuO NCs have been characterised through x-ray diffraction (XRD), energy dispersive x-ray (EDX) with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) techniques. The results revealed that as-prepared ZnO-CuO NCs have spherical and rod-shaped structures with an average size between 10 and 30 nm. Further, ZnO-CuO NCs were tested for antidiabetic and anticancer properties. Amylase inhibition and MTT assays were carried out with different concentrations of NCs. The biological results depicted that the as-prepared nanocomposites exhibited significant cytotoxic effects with IC50 value of 13.29 μg mg−1. These observations further showed that the newly synthesised ZnO–CuO NCs are interesting and promising nanomaterials in pharmaceutical and healthcare sector.

Abstract
Carbon doped silver/iron/TiO₂ nanocomposite is synthesized via the solvothermal technique. Titanium tetraisopropoxide is used as a TiO₂ source. The composite samples are characterized by different physicochemical methods, including nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis, transmission electron microscope, scanning electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence, UV-vis, Fourier-transform infrared, and Energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The nanocrystalline structure of the samples with anatase phase having a tetragonal shape is shown by the XRD and TEM analysis. The photo-absorption boundary of pure TiO₂ expands into the visible light region due to composite formation, shown by analysis of UV-vis data. An increase in the degree of electron-hole couple segregation is shown via photoluminescence analysis. N₂ adsorption-desorption analysis manifests the higher surface area of samples along with mesoporous nature. The high photodegradation action is shown by the composite samples as compared to pure mesoporous TiO₂.

Abstract
The TiO2-Fe3O4 composite materials were fabricated via the hydrothermal-assisted technique. It was determined how the molar ratio of TiO2 to Fe3O4 influences the crystalline structure and morphology of the synthesized composite materials. The effect of the molar ratio of components on the antibacterial activity was also analyzed. On the basis of XRD patterns for the obtained titanium(IV) oxide-iron(II, III) oxide composites, the two separate crystalline forms-anatase and magnetite -were observed. Transmission electron microscopy revealed particles of cubic and tetragonal shape for TiO2 and spherical for Fe3O4. The results of low-temperature nitrogen sorption analysis indicated that an increase in the iron(II, III) oxide content leads to a decrease in the BET surface area. Moreover, the superparamagnetic properties of titanium(IV) oxide-iron(II, III) oxide composites should be noted. An important aim of the work was to determine the antibacterial activity of selected TiO2-Fe3O4 materials. For this purpose, two representative strains of bacteria, the Gram-negative Escherichia coli and Gram-positive Staphylococcus aureus, were used. The titanium(IV) oxide-iron(II, III) oxide composites demonstrated a large zone of growth inhibition for both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Moreover, it was found that the analyzed materials can be reused as antibacterial agents in three consecutive cycles with good results.

Abstract
Pt deposited on CdS nanorods (Pt/CdS) have been prepared via the UV light photoreduction method. The Pt/CdS nanocomposites possess highly significant peroxidase-like activity with the assistance of the colorless substrate 3,3,5,5-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). In the presence of peroxidase mimic Pt/CdS, TMB is quickly oxidized into a typical blue product (oxTMB, which has an obvious absorption at 652 nm) by H2O2 only in 3 min, which is easily detected visually. The catalytic activity of Pt/CdS originates from the accelerated electron transfer between the reactants. Combining the peroxidase-like activity of Pt/CdS with the blue change of TMB, a fast colorimetric sensing platform for detection of H2O2 has been constructed with a linear range 0.10-1.00 mM and a detection limit of 45.5 μM. The platform developed is further used to detect hydroquinone (HQ) in the range1.0-10 μM with a lower detection limit of 0.165 μM. The colorimetric platform has a potential to detect HQ residue in real water samples with recoveries ranging from 83.56 to 91.76%. Graphical abstract.

Abstract
The aim of the present research is to investigate the efficiency of surface-modified magnetic nanoparticles for photocatalytic degradation of PCBs from transformer oil. Therefore, CMCD-Fe3O4@TiO2 was successfully produced via grafting of carboxymethyl-β-cyclodextrin (CM-β-CD) onto the core-shell titania magnetic nanoparticles surface. The photocatalytic efficiency of CMCD-Fe3O4@TiO2 for degradation of PCBs was systematically evaluated using an experimental design and the process parameters were optimized by response surface methodology (RSM). The central composite design (CCD) with four experimental parameters was used successfully in the modeling and optimization of photocatalytic efficiency in removing PCBs from transformer oil. ANOVA analysis confirmed a high R-squared value of 0.9769 describing the goodness of fit of the proposed model for the significance estimation of the individual and the interaction effects of variables. The optimal degradation yields of PCBs was achieved 83 % at a temperature of 25 °C, time of 16 min, the dosage of the catalyst of 8.35 mg and oil: ethanol ratio of 1:5. These findings encourage the practical use of CM-β-CD-Fe3O4@TiO2 as a promising and alternative photocatalyst on an industrial scale for the cleaning of organic pollutants such as PCBs due to its environmental friendliness, the benefit of magnetic separation and good reusability after five times.

Abstract
Novel catalysts are of great interest for improved photocatalytic environmental remediation. Using a hydrothermal method, 0D/2D Bi3TaO7/Ti3C2 heterojunctions were designed rationally and characterized systematically as excellent photocatalysts for photocatalytic degradation. The hybrid catalyst exhibits superior performance in visible-light-driven photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue (about 99% degradation efficiency after 2 h) and excellent stability (up to 10 cycles) under visible light irradiation (300 W Xe lamp; λ > 420 nm; light intensity 150 mW cm-2). In addition, Bi3TaO7/Ti3C2 has a larger rate constant (0.032 min-1) than pristine Bi3TaO7 (0.006 min-1). Quantum yield (2.27 × 10-5 molecules/photon) and figure of merit (23.3) of the system were obtained, suggesting that our catalyst has potential for application. Both experimental and computational results indicate that synergistic effects between Bi3TaO7 and Ti3C2 improve photocatalytic performance by enhancing electron-hole pair separation, electronic transmission efficiency, and interfacial charge transfer. These findings contribute to the synthesis of efficient visible-light-driven Bi-based photocatalysts and to the understanding of photocatalytic degradation reactions.

Abstract
In this paper, a study on the removal of imitated polystyrene (PS) microplastics in water was carried out based on the adsorption capacity of three-dimensional reduced graphene oxide (3D RGO). Scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffractometry characterization showed that the freeze-dried 3D RGO formed a distinct porous spatial structure. Different experimental parameters, such as pH, ion concentration (C0), contact time (t), and temperature (T), were studied to investigate the PS microplastic adsorption performance of 3D RGO. The adsorption mechanism was mainly attributed to the strong π-π interaction between the carbon ring of 3D RGO and the benzene ring of PS microplastics. Sorption kinetic and isothermal data were obtained by the well-fitted Langmuir adsorption isotherm model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Furthermore, the result of thermodynamic analysis showed that the adsorption of PS microplastics was a spontaneous endothermic process. Under the optimal conditions of pH = 6, C0 = 600 mg/L, t = 120 min, and T = 26 °C, the maximum adsorption capacity of the prepared 3D RGO on PS microplastics was 617.28 mg/g. Furthermore, this method exhibited good feasibility in tap water and lake water.
