Abstract
Efficient asymmetric syntheses of APTO and AETD, the highly functionalized β-amino acid fragments within microsclerodermins C, D, and E, are reported. The conjugate addition of lithium (R)-N-benzyl-N-(α-methylbenzyl)amide to tert-butyl (E,E)-7-(triisopropylsilyloxy)hepta-2,4-dienoate and in situ enolate oxidation with (-)-camphorsulfonyloxaziridine, diastereoselective dihydroxylation of a 2,3-syn-γ,δ-unsaturated-α-hydroxy-β-amino ester derivative under Donohoe conditions, and a Julia-Kocieński olefination were used as the key steps.

Abstract
The biomimetic total synthesis of LL-Z1640-2 (3) is reported without the use of phenol protection. The aromatic unit was constructed via the transannular aromatization of macrocyclic triketo-ester 2, which in turn was synthesized by macrolactonization using an intramolecular trapping of a triketo-ketene derived from dioxinone 1.

Abstract
The fibrous polymer-supported sulfonic acid catalyst Smopex-101 H+ proved to be an efficient catalyst for the preparation of O-isopropylidene derivatives from a series of rare sugars. Acetonation of the reducing sugars L-arabinose, L-ribose, L-xylose, L-fucose, and L-rhamnose in N,N-dimethylformamide by 2,2-dimethoxypropane or 2-methoxypropene led to the formation of the kinetically favored di-O- and/or mono-O-isopropylidene derivatives in 46-88% yields. The method consists of a simple experimental procedure which does not require predried solvents or reagents. The catalyst is easily recovered and can be regenerated making the procedure economically viable even for large-scale synthesis.

Abstract
A library of resorcylic acid lactones (RAL) containing a cis-enone moiety targeting kinases bearing a cysteine residue within the ATP-binding pocket was prepared using a fluorous-mixture synthesis and evaluated against a panel of 19 kinases thus providing important structure-activity trends. Two new analogues were then profiled for their selectivity against a panel of 402 kinases providing the broadest evaluation of this pharmacophores' selectivity.

Abstract
[reaction: see text] The first total synthesis of resorcinylic macrolide aigialomycin D was described. The resorcinylic moiety was constructed by a highly efficient Diels-Alder reaction using a disiloxydiene and a 14-membered "ynolide" as the dienophile synthesized by ring-forming olefin metathesis.
