Abstract
We devised a palladium-catalyzed α-stereoselective glycosylation that incorporates oxygen via in-situ generation of gem-disubstituted methanols from p-quinone methides to access 2,3-unsaturated gem-diarylmethyl O-glycosides under open-air atmosphere at room temperature. Advantages of this environmentally friendly strategy include the absence of additives and ligands, using water as the green source of oxygen, mildest, operationally simple, exhibiting a wide functional group tolerance, and compatibility with a variety of glycal progenitors in appreciable yields. A mechanistic study has been verified via H2 18 O labeling, which validates that water (moisture) is a sole source of oxygen.

Abstract
![]()
B(C6F5)3 enables the metal-free
unprecedented substrate-controlled direct α-stereoselective
synthesis of deoxyglycosides from glycals. 2,3-Unsaturated α-O-glycoside products are obtained with deactivated glycals
at 75 °C in the presence of the catalyst, while 2-deoxyglycosides
are formed using activated glycals that bear no leaving group at C-3
at lower temperatures. The reaction proceeds in good to excellent
yields via concomitant borane activation of glycal donor and nucleophile
acceptor. The method is exemplified with the synthesis of a series
of rare and biologically relevant glycoside analogues.

Abstract
Pd(MeCN)2Cl2 enables the α-stereoselective catalytic synthesis of 2,3-unsaturated O-glycosides from O(3)-acylated glycals without the requirement for additives to preactivate either donor or nucleophile. Mechanistic studies suggest that, unlike traditional (η3-allyl)palladium-mediated processes, the reaction proceeds via an alkoxy-palladium intermediate that increases the proton acidity and oxygen nucleophilicity of the alcohol. The method is exemplified with the synthesis of a range of glycosides and glycoconjugates of synthetic utility.

Abstract
Perchloric acid supported on silica gel acts as an excellent reagent system in converting glucals into 2,3-unsaturated-O-glucosides in good to excellent yields in short reaction time with good alpha selectivity. Primary, secondary, and allylic alcohols, phenols, and thiols react with 3,4,6-tri-O-acetyl glucal with equal ease. In addition to this, a chiral furan diol is obtained from unprotected D-glucal or D-galactal in good yields.

Abstract
The mild, Lewis-acidic complexes [Mo(CO)4Br2]2, (MeCN)2Mo(CO)3(SnCl3)Cl, and (acac)2Mo(OTf)2 have been found to catalyze the C(1)-specific C-glycosylation reaction of glycal acetates 1-3 with silyl enol ethers 4a-4c and electron-rich aromatics 5a, 5b (PhOMe, PhOH). While silyl enol ethers produce predominantly α-C-glycopyranosides (with 2 : 1 to 4 : 1 selectivity), aromatics tend to afford mainly β-C-glycopyranosides (2 : 1 to 3 : 1) in a thermodynamically controlled process.
