Synthesis and spectroscopic properties of diorganotin(IV) derivatives of 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(thiosemicarbazone). Crystal structure of diphenyl{2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(thiosemicarbazonato)}tin(IV) bis(dimethylformamide) solvate

Partial conversion of thioamide into nitrile in a copper(II) complex of 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(thiosemicarbazone), a drug prototype for Alzheimer's disease

This work reports the crystal structure of [(Z)-2-((E)-1-{6-[1-({[amino(sulfanidyl-κS)methylidene]amino}imino-κN)ethyl]pyridin-2-yl-κN}ethylidene)-1-cyanohydrazinido-κN(1)]copper(II), [Cu(C11H11N7S)], the first description of a copper(II) complex of 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(thiosemicarbazone) showing partial conversion of a thioamide group to a nitrile group. The asymmetric ligand coordinates to the metal centre in an N,N',N'',S-tetradentate manner via the pyridine N atom, an imine N atom, the hydrazinide N atom and the sulfanidyl S atom, displaying a square-planar geometry. Ligand coordination results in two five-membered chelate rings and one six-membered chelate ring, and in crystal packing based on N-H···N hydrogen bonds of the cyanohydrazinide and hydrazinecarbothioamidate arms of the ligand. The correlation between the partial conversion upon metal complexation, H2S release and possible effects on the activity of bis(thiosemicarbazone)s as drug prototypes for Alzheimer's disease is also discussed.

Synthesis and spectral investigations of Mn(II) complexes of pentadentate bis(thiosemicarbazones)

Five Mn(II) complexes of bis(thiosemicarbazones) which are represented as [Mn(H(2)Ac4Ph)Cl(2)] (1), [Mn(Ac4Ph)H(2)O] (2), [Mn(H(2)Ac4Cy)Cl(2)].H(2)O (3), [Mn(H(2)Ac4Et)Cl(2)].3H(2)O (4) and [Mn(H(2)Ac4Et)(OAc)(2)].3H(2)O (5) have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, electronic, infrared and EPR spectral techniques. In all the complexes except [Mn(Ac4Ph)H(2)O], the ligands act as pentadentate neutral molecules and coordinate to Mn(II) ion through two thione sulfur atoms, two azomethine nitrogens and the pyridine nitrogen, suggesting a heptacoordination. While in compound [Mn(Ac4Ph)H(2)O], the dianionic ligand is coordinated to the metal suggesting six coordination in this case. Magnetic studies indicate the high spin state of Mn(II). Conductivity measurements reveal their non-electrolyte nature. EPR studies indicate five g values for [Mn(Ac4Ph)H(2)O] showing zero field splitting.

X-ray Crystallographic and Mössbauer Spectroscopic Applications in Dependence of Partial Quadrupole Splitting, [R], on the C−Sn−C Angle in Seven-Coordinated Diorganotin(IV) Complexes

The synthesis and the IR, NMR (1H, 13C, and 119Sn), and Mössbauer spectroscopies and single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies of seven-coordinated diorganotin(IV) complexes, namely, [Ph2Sn(Hdapsc)]Cl.H2O.DMF [7; H(2)dapsc = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(semicarbazone)], [Me(2)Sn(H2,6Achexim)]Br.H2O [8; H(2)2,6Achexim = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(3-hexamethyleneiminylthiosemicarbazone)], [Me(2)Sn(dapmts)] [9; H(2)dapmts = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(4-methythiosemicarbazone)], and [nBu2Sn(dapmdtc)] [10; H(2)dapmdtc = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(S-methydithiocarbazate)], were done. The determination of the structures of [Ph(2)Sn(Hdapsc)]+, [Me2Sn(H2,6Achexim)]+ and [Me2Sn(dapmts)], [nBu2Sn(dapmdtc)] revealed the presence of monocationic and neutral complexes, respectively. The structures consist of monomeric units in which the Sn(IV) ions exhibit distorted pentagonal-bipyramidal geometries, with the X,N,N,N,X-donor (X = O, S) systems of the ligands lying in the equatorial plane and the organic groups in the apical positions. The C-Sn-C angle in the seven-coordinated diorganotin(IV) complexes was estimated using a correlation between Mössbauer and X-ray data based on the point-charge model and using new values obtained in this work for [alkyl] = -1.00 mm s(-1) and [aryl] = -0.80 mm s(-1) for complexes containing O,N,N,N,O-pentadentate ligands and new values for [alkyl] = -0.87 mm s(-1) and [aryl] = -0.75 mm s(-1) for complexes containing S,N,N,N,S-pentadentate ligands.

Synthesis, structure, and spectroscopic properties of acetato(dimethyl)(pyridine-2-carbaldehydethiosemicarbazonato)tin(IV) acetic acid solvate, [SnMe2(PyTSC)(OAc)].HOAc. Comparison of its biological activity with that of some structurally related diorganotin(IV) bis(thiosemicarbazonates)

The synthesis, X-ray structure, behavior in solution, and biological properties of the complex [SnMe2(PyTSC)(OAc)].HOAc (HPyTSC = pyridine-2-carbaldehydethiosemicarbazone) are reported. The tin atom of this complex is coordinated to an N,N,S-tridentate PyTSC- anion, to a monodentate acetate ion, and to the two methyl groups in an approximately pentagonal bipyramidal environment with a vacant equatorial position. The complex partially evolves in DMSO and in DMSO/CHxCl4-x (X = 1, 2) mixtures, giving HPyTSC and SnMe2(OAc)2. [SnMe2 (PyTSC)(OAc)].HOAc, [SnMe2(DAPTSC)], and [SnPh2(DAPTSC)].2DMF (H2DAPTSC = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(thiosemicarbazone)) all suppress proliferation of Friend erythroleukaemia cells (FLC). DMSO-induced differentiation of FLC is slightly suppressed by [SnMe2(DAPTSC)] and is unaffected by [SnPh2(DAPTSC)].2DMF and [SnMe2(PyTSC)(OAc)].HOAc.

2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(thiosemicarbazones) zinc complexes: synthesis, structure, and biological activity

The reaction of zinc chloride, acetate, or perchlorate with two bis(thiosemicarbazones) of 2,6-diacetylpyridine [H2daptsc = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(thiosemicarbazone) and H2dapipt = 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(hydrazinopyruvoylthiosemicarbazone)] leads to the formation of four novel complexes that have been characterized by spectroscopic studies (NMR, IR) and biological properties. The crystal structures of the two compounds--[Zn(daptsc)]2.2DMF (1) and [Zn(H2dapipt)(OH2)2](CIO4)2.3H2O (2)--also have been determined by x-ray methods from diffractometer data. Compound (1) is dimeric and the two zinc atoms have a distorted octahedral coordination. The ligand is deprotonated. In compound (2), the coordination geometry about zinc is pentagonal--bipyramidal and the ligand is in the neutral form. The molecular structure of (2) consists of cations [Zn(H2dapipt)(OH2)]2+, CIO4- disordered anions, and three water molecules of solvation. Biological studies have shown that the ligands and the complexes Zn(daptsc).1/2EtOH and Zn(H2daptsc)Cl2 have an effect in vitro on cell proliferation and differentiation (inhibition); both are concentration dependent. [Zn(daptsc)]2.2DMF (1) shows the effects at lower concentration values with respect to other compounds.
