Abstract
Up to now, the metal complexes with thiocarbonohydrazones have been comparatively rare. Herein, three main group monometallic complexes formulated as [Bi(HL)(NO3)2(H2O)] (1), [Ga(HL)2]OAc·EtOH (2) and [(Ph)2Sn(HL)(OAc)]·DMF (3), where H2L = bis(2-acetylpyrazine)thiocarbonohydrazone, have been synthesized and characterized. The crystal structures of complexes 2 and 3 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Growth inhibition assays have indicated that both the free ligand and the title complexes are capable of inhibiting cell proliferation growth and could slightly distinguish the human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells from normal hepatocyte QSG7701 cells. Of particular note is the fact that the bismuth(III) complex 1 is the most active compound of this study and is 14-fold more cytotoxic than H2L with an IC50 value of 2.96 ± 0.25 μM. Its possible apoptotic mechanism has been evaluated in HepG2 cells. Complex 1 promotes a dose-dependent apoptosis in HepG2 cells and the apoptosis is associated with an increase in intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and reduction of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP).

Abstract
Several methyltin(IV) and butyltin(IV) complexes with the ligand benzil bis(benzoylhydrazone) and 4,4'-bipyridyl as coligand were synthesised and characterized by elemental analysis and by IR, (1)H, (13)C and (119)Sn NMR spectroscopies. Some of them were also analyzed using single crystal X-ray diffraction. The title compounds were evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial properties. All buthyltin complexes showed significant inhibition of Gram positive bacteria, resulting Bacillus subtilis, Sarcina lutea and both methicillin-susceptible and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis the most sensitive strains. Furthermore, they were able to inhibit the growth of Gram negative bacteria, especially Proteus vulgaris, whereas no activity was exhibited against fungi. All methyltin complexes were devoid of antimicrobial properties.

Some di- and triorganotin(IV) triazolates of general formula, R(4-n)SnLn (where n=2; R=Me, n-Bu and Ph; n=1; R=Me, n-Pr, n-Bu and Ph and HL=4-amino-3-methyl-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol (HL-1); and 4-amino-3-ethyl-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol (HL-2)) were synthesized by the reaction of R(4-n)SnCln with sodium salt of HL-1 and HL-2. The bonding and coordination behavior in these derivatives have been discussed on the basis of IR and 119Sn Mössbauer spectroscopic studies in the solid state. Their coordination behavior in solution is discussed by multinuclear (1H, 13C and 119Sn) NMR spectral studies. The IR and 119Sn Mössbauer spectroscopic studies indicate that the ligands, HL-1 and HL-2 act as a monoanionic bidentate ligand, coordinating through Sexo- and Nring. The distorted skew trapezoidal-bipyramidal and distorted trigonal bipyramidal geometries have been proposed for R2SnL2 and R3SnL, respectively, in the solid state. In vitro antimicrobial screening of some of the newly synthesized derivatives and of some di- and triorganotin(IV) derivatives of 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole-5-thiol (HL-3) and 5-amino-3H-1,3,4-thiadiazole-2-thiol (HL-4) along with two standard drugs such as fluconazole and ciprofloxacin have been carried out against the bacteria, viz. Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and against some fungi, viz. Aspergillus fumigatus, Candida albicans, Candida albicans (ATCC 10231), Candida krusei (GO3) and Candida glabrata (HO5) by the filter paper disc method. The studied organotin(IV) compounds show mild antifungal activity as compared to that of fluconazole, however, they show almost insignificant activity against the studied Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureas) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) bacteria as compared to that of standard drug, ciprofloxacin.

Abstract
In recent years, numerous organotin(IV) derivatives have exhibited remarkable cytotoxicity against several types of cancer. However, the properties of the cyanoxime-containing organotin(IV) complexes are unknown. Previously, it has been shown that cyanoximes displayed an interesting spectrum of biological activity ranging from growth-regulation to antimicrobial and pesticide detoxification actions. The work presented here attempts to combine the useful properties of both groups of compounds and investigate the likely antiproliferating activity of the new substances. A series of 19 organotin(IV) complexes, with nine different cyanoxime ligands, were anaerobically prepared by means of the heterogeneous metathesis reaction between the respective organotin(IV) halides (Cl, Br) and ML (M=Ag, Tl; L=cyanoximate anion), using an ultrasound in the CH3CN at room temperature. The compounds were characterized using spectroscopic methods (UV-visible, IR, 1H,13C NMR, 119Sn Mössbauer) and X-ray analysis. The crystal structures of the complexes revealed the formation of two types of tin(IV) cyanoximates: mononuclear five-coordinated compounds of R4-xSnLx composition (R=Me, Et, n-Bu, Ph; x=1, 2; L=cyanoximate anion), and the tetranuclear R8Sn4(OH)2O2L2 species (R=n-Bu, Ph). The latter complex contains a planar [Sn4(OH)2O2]2- core, consisting of three adjacent rhombs with bridging oxo and hydroxo groups. The tin(IV) atoms are five-coordinated and have distorted trigonal-pyramidal surrounding. This is the first instance when the organic anions were found to act as monodentate O-bound planar oxime ligands. All of the compounds were studied in vitro for antiproliferating activity, using human cervical cancer HeLa and WiDR colon cancer cell lines; cisplatin was used as a positive control substance. The two dibutyltin(IV) cyanoximates showed cytotoxicity similar and greater to that of cisplatin.

Abstract
The reaction of ammonium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate, [NH4{S2CN(CH2)4}], with SnCl2, [Sn(C6H5)2Cl2], [Sn(C6H5)3Cl], [Sn(C4H9)2Cl2] and [Sn(C6H11)3Cl] produced in good yield the compounds [Sn{S2CN(CH2)4}2Cl2] (1), [Sn{S2CN(CH2)4}2Ph2] (2), [Sn{S2CN(CH2)4}Ph3] (3), [Sn{S2CN(CH2)4}2 n-Bu2] (4) and [Sn{S2CN(CH2)4}Cy3] (5). The complexes were characterised by infrared, multinuclear NMR (1H, 13C{1H} and 119Sn{1H}) and 119Sn Mössbauer spectroscopies. In addition, the crystal structure of 4 was determined by X-ray crystallography. The in vitro antifungal activity of the tin(IV) complexes as well of the ligand was performed on human pathogenic fungi, Candida albicans, in concentrations of 0.025; 0.050; 0.100; 0.200; 0.400; 0.800; 1.600 and 3.200 mM. The microorganism presented resistance to the dithiocarbamate ligand and all tin(IV) complexes tested were actives. The highest activity was found for compounds 1 and 4.

Abstract
Structural studies and an investigation of the cytotoxic activity of Sn(IV) complexes with N(4)-phenyl-2-benzoylpyridine thiosemicarbazone (H2Bz4Ph) were carried out. The crystal and molecular structures of [Sn(2Bz4Ph)Cl3].CH3CH2OH (1) and [Sn(2Bz4Ph)BuCl2].H2O (Bu = butyl group) (2) were determined. Both compounds present octahedral coordination geometry with the 2Bz4Ph anionic ligand behaving as tridentate on the metal ion. A comparative study of the structures of these compounds along with that of [Sn(2Bz4Ph)Bu2Cl] (3) determined before is presented. The cytotoxicity of H2Bz4Ph and its Sn(IV) complexes was investigated against the MCF-7, TK-10 and UACC-62 human tumor cell lines. Among the three complexes, 3 proved to be better as cytotoxic agent than the clinically used drug etoposide. H2Bz4Ph and all complexes were able to induce apoptosis in UACC-62 cells.
