Abstract
The reaction of AgBF4 and [Rh(COD)Cl]2 (COD=1,5-cyclooctadiene) in presence of [NEt4 ][C5 (CF3 )5 ] afforded the fluorocarbon soluble complex [Rh(COD)(C5 (CF3 )5 )] by salt metathesis. This complex represents the first example for a successful coordination of the weakly basic [C5 (CF3 )5 ]- ligand, since its first synthesis in 1980. In addition to [Rh(COD)(C5 (CF3 )5 )] also the byproduct [Rh(COD)(C5 (CF3 )4 H)] was isolated and fully characterized. Accompanying DFT studies showed that the interaction energy of the [C5 (CF3 )5 ]- ligand towards the 12-electron fragment [Rh(COD)]+ is ≈70 kcal mol-1 lower in comparison to [C5 (CH3 )5 ]- due to reduced electrostatic interactions and weaker π-donor properties of the ligand. The quantitative but reversible substitution of the [C5 (CF3 )5 ]- ligand by toluene, converting it into a weakly coordinating anion, experimentally proved the extraordinary weak bonding interaction.

Abstract
Reduction of [CpArFe(μ-Br)]2 (1, CpAr = C5(C6H4-4-Et)5) by potassium napthalenide, followed by the addition of white phosphorus, affords [K(18-c-6){CpArFe(η4-P4)}] (2, 18-c-6 = [18]crown-6), which features a planar cyclo-P42- ligand. The related diiron complex [Na2(THF)5(CpArFe)2(μ,η4:4-P4)] (3) was obtained by reducing 1 with sodium amalgam in the presence of P4. Protonation of 3 affords [Na(THF)3][(CpArFe)2(μ,η4:4-P4)(H)] (4), while the reaction of 3 with trimethylchlorosilane gives the nortricyclane compound P7(SiMe3)3 as the main product.

Abstract
The preparation of new stable half-sandwich transition metal complexes, having a bulky cyclopentadienyl ligand C5(C6H4-4-Et)5 (Cp(Ar1)) or C5(C6H4-4-nBu)5 (Cp(Ar2)), is reported. The tetrahydrofuran (THF) adduct [Cp(Ar1)Fe(μ-Br)(THF)]2 (1a) was synthesized by reacting K[Cp(Ar1)] with [FeBr2(THF)2] in THF, and its molecular structure was determined by X-ray crystallography. Complex 1a easily loses its coordinated THF molecules under vacuum to form the solvent-free complex [Cp(Ar1)Fe(μ-Br)]2 (1b). The analogous complexes [Cp(Ar1)Co(μ-Br)]2 (2), [Cp(Ar1)Ni(μ-Br)]2 (3), and [Cp(Ar2)Ni(μ-Br)]2 (4) were synthesized from CoBr2 and [NiBr2(1,2-dimethoxyethane)]. The mononuclear, low-spin cobalt(III) and nickel(III) complexes [Cp(Ar2)MI2] (5, M = Co; 6, M = Ni) were prepared by reacting the radical Cp(Ar2) with NiI2 and CoI2. The complexes were characterized by NMR and UV-vis spectroscopies and by elemental analyses. Single-crystal X-ray structure analyses revealed that the dimeric complexes 1a, 1b, and 3 have a planar M2Br2 core, whereas 2 and 4 feature a puckered M2Br2 ring.

Abstract
The use of the superbulky cyclooctatetraenide dianion ligand [C(8)H(6)(SiPh(3))(2)](2-) (= COT(BIG)) in organo-f-element chemistry leads to unprecedented effects such as the formation of a significantly bent anionic Ce(III) sandwich complex, a novel cerocene formed by sterically induced SiPh(3) group migration, as well as the first example of a bent uranocene.

Abstract
A cyclopentadienyl radical annelated with two homoadamantene frameworks 1 was synthesized and isolated in stable, crystalline form by the single-electron oxidation of the corresponding cyclopentadienyl anion. The X-ray structure clearly demonstrated distinct bond alternation in the cyclopentadienyl ring, suggesting that radical 1 has the characteristics of a spin-localized 2,4-cyclopentadien-1-yl radical. The two homoadamantene frameworks are nonequivalent in crystals at 100 K, while ESR spectra indicated that they are equivalent in toluene at room temperature due to rapid changes in conformation.

Abstract
Tetracyclone, 2a, reacts with C(6)F(5)Li to yield 2-pentafluorophenyl-2,3,4,5-tetraphenylcyclopent-3-en-1-one, 7, and 5-hydroxy-5-pentafluorophenyl-1,2,3,4-tetraphenylcyclopentadiene, 8, as the result of 1,6 and 1,2 additions, respectively. In contrast, treatment of 3-ferrocenyl-2,4,5-triphenylcyclopentadienone, 2b, with lithiopentafluorobenzene leads to 4-ferrocenyl-4-pentafluorophenyl-2, 3,5-triphenylcyclopent-2-en-1-one, 9, and 5-hydroxy-5-pentafluorophenyl-2-ferrocenyl-1,3, 4-triphenylcyclopentadiene, 10, the products of 1,4 and 1,2 addition, respectively. The structures of 7-9 have been established by X-ray crystallography, and the barriers to rotation (19-21 kcal mol(-)(1)) of the pentafluorophenyl groups in 8-10 have been studied by variable-temperature (19)F NMR. Nucleophilic attack at the ferrocenyl-bearing carbon in 2b is rationalized in terms of a zwitterionic structure in which the positive charge of the "cyclopentadienyl cation" is delocalized onto the iron atom in the organometallic substituent.
