Arteriovenous aneurysm of the mandible

Treatment of intraosseous high flow arteriovenous malformation of the mandible by temporary segmental ostectomy for extracorporal tumour resection: a case report

We present a case of intraosseous arteriovenous malformation of the mandible with temporary segmental resection, extracorporal removal of the vascular malformation from the osteotomized mandibular bone and intraoperative osteosynthetic replantation of the avascular bony remnant. In a follow-up after 1 year, when removing the titanium miniplates used for osteosynthesis, the mandibular bone was found to have remodelled completely. There is no recurrence of the lesion in a follow-up after 2 years.

Condylar haemangioma--a case report and review of the literature

A case of central haemangioma of the mandibular condyle is presented. A review of the literature emphasises the rarity of this benign tumour in the condylar region.

Vascular malformation: report of a case with eight-year follow up

An interesting example of a vascular malformation of the mandible has been presented. Early diagnosis made conservative treatment possible. Although the lesion was small, a considerable amount of hemorrhage was encountered during surgery. Adequate treatment was provided with ligation of external carotid arteries bilaterally in conjunction with curettage and packing. After an eight-year follow up, there has been no clinical or radiographic evidence of recurrence.

Arteriovenous aneurysm of the mandible. Report of a case

An arteriovenous aneurysm of the mandible in a 10-year-old boy presented as a pulsating epulis associated with slight intraoral bleeding. A few hours after the child was admitted to the hospital, there was a massive spontaneous hemorrhage which was successfully arrested by ligation of the external carotid artery. Rapid regression and recalcification of the lesion have followed this preliminary procedure which, unexpectedly, has proved in this case to be the best form of definitive treatment. A review of the literature concerning the treatment of this rare lesion is given.
