Multidetector CT and histological features of benign mesenchymoma of the infratemporal space: a rare case report

Benign mesenchymoma is a soft tissue neoplasm composed of an admixture of two or more benign mesenchymal components in addition to fibrous tissue. A rare case of benign mesenchymoma of the infratemporal space in a 14-year-old boy is presented. In this case report we discuss the salient imaging and histopathological features of this rare entity.

Intraoral benign mesenchymoma: a report of 10 cases and review of the literature

A benign mesenchymoma is an unencapsulated soft tissue neoplasm composed of 2 or more mature mesenchymal tissues not normally associated with each other, excluding fibrous connective tissue. No single mesenchymal tissue should predominate with respect to the other mesenchymal elements. Ten well-documented examples of intraoral benign mesenchymoma have been reported in the English language literature. The purpose of this report is to document 10 additional cases and to review the clinicopathologic characteristics of this uncommon tumor.

Brachial plexopathy due to chondrolipoangioma. Case report and review of the literature

Chondrolipoangioma is a mesenchymoma primarily composed of cartilage, with adipose tissue and vascular elements present in lesser proportions. Chondrolipoangiomas have been reported to occur in the extremities, chest wall, oral soft tissues, mediastinum, uterus and its round ligament, seminal vesicles, and heart. In this report, the authors present an unusual case in which a chondrolipoangioma caused a brachial plexopathy. To their knowledge, a chondrolipoangioma has never been reported in the neurosurgical literature.

Benign mesenchymoma of the cheek: report of a case and review of the literature

Benign mesenchymoma is a soft tissue neoplasm that contains 2 or more differentiated mesenchymal components in addition to fibrous tissue. A rare case of benign mesenchymoma of the cheek in a 6-year-old boy is presented. The literature pertaining to mesenchymoma in the head and neck region is reviewed and discussed.

Benign mesenchymoma of the tongue. Report of a case, with review of the literature

A benign mesenchymoma of the dorsal midtongue in an 88-year-old woman is presented. The tumour was excised under local anaesthesia, and microscopic examination revealed cartilage, bone, striated muscle, peripheral nerve, adipose and myxoid tissue, and blood vessels in addition to fibrous tissue. Eight cases including ours were found in the literature.

Benign mesenchymoma of the palate: report of a case

A case of benign mesenchymoma of the hard palate is presented. The lesion was completely excised and the tumor margins were shown to be free of disease. Within 4 months a second noncontiguous lesion arose of the opposite side of the palate and was also removed. Whether this represented a distinctly new lesion or possibly one which was seeded through previous diagnostic efforts was difficult to ascertain. Follow-up for more than 2 years has not revealed any further evidence of neoplasia.
