Abstract
A thiosemicarbazide derivative as (E)-4-ethyl-1-(1-(naphthalen-1-yl) ethylidene) thiosemicarbazide (HAN) was synthesized then characterized to prepare [Co(HAN)Cl2·(H2O)2], [Ni(HAN)Cl2·(H2O)2]. H2O, and [Cd(HAN)Cl2] complexes. According to spectral and analytical data we could confirm the neutral bidentate mode of bonding via (C]S) and (C]N) groups to form 1:1 M ratio within the three complexes. The octahedral geometry was suggested for Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes according to electronic transitions assigned to 4T1g → 4T1g(P)(ʋ2) and 4T1g → 4A2g(F)(ʋ3) and 3A2g → 3T1g(P,υ3) and 3A2g → 3T1g(F,υ2), respectively. The values of nephelauetic ratio (β) in the ligand field parameters detect the ionic nature of new M-L bonds. The molecular ion peaks appeared in the mass spectra of two selected complexes confirming their molecular formulae. The conductometric study was performed for Cd(II) ion solution during variable additions of HAN to calculate association and formation constant of Cd(II)-HAN complex. DFT/B3LYP method was used to optimize the structures of the compounds and confirm the binding mode of the ligand. The distribution of C(5) = N(17) and C(13) = S(19) groups asserts their priority in coordination. Hirshfeld crystal properties were obtained via normalized contact distance (dnorm) and shape index in which the nitrogen atoms act as the best contact points in crystal packing. The biological screening was carried out against microbial strains as well as methyl green/DNA test. In vitro, the superiority of the ligand was clearly recorded in its biological effectiveness. In silico methods were implemented to confirm the activity of the ligand and to recognize the interaction features. The bioavailability, pharmacokinetics and drug-likeness were evaluated via Swiss-link. The data detect the ability of the ligand to penetrate barrier of brain (BBB) but not absorbed in gastrointestinal tract. Pharmit link and molecular docking were utilized to investigate the interaction of HAN with 1bna, 425d and 2k4l proteins. The best intercalation with protein pockets was observed with 2k4l protein, and searching the MolPort library detects a drug analog of MolPort-002-894-701. Finally, the results suggest the biological efficiency of the ligand, which may be asserted by specialists through intensive in-vivo studies.

Abstract
To evaluate the biological preference of synthetic small drugs towards DNA target, new metal based chemotherapeutic agents of Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II), 2,4-diiodo-6-((pyridin-2-ylmethylimino)methyl)phenol (L) Schiff base complexes (1, 2, 3 &4) having N,N,O donor system respectively were synthesized and thoroughly characterized. The IR results confirmed the tridentate binding of the ligand with metal centre during complexation and reflects the proposed structure. The density function theory calculations were also used to further investigate the electronic structure and properties of ligand and complexes. The preliminary investigation of herring Sperm (HS-DNA) interaction propensity of complexes 1-4 were carried out in Tris-HCl buffer at pH 7.1 to demonstrate their mode of interactions. The obtained results reveal that these complexes significantly interact with DNA on the grooves, further, this observed mode of interactions was also confirmed by molecular docking evaluations. The complexes 1-4 were also screened for antimicrobial evaluations which demonstrated that their significant activity against various human pathogens. The cleavage studies with pBR322 plasmid DNA revealed higher nuclease activity of 1 as compared to other complexes.

Abstract
2-Phenyl-N,N′-bis(pyridin-4-ylcarbonyl)butanediamide ligand with a series of transition metal complexes has been synthesized via two routes: microwave irradiation and conventional heating method. Microwave irritation method happened to be the efficient and versatile route for the synthesis of these metal complexes. These complexes were found to have the general composition M(L)Cl2/M(L)(CH3COO)2 (where M = Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and L = ligand). Different physical and spectroscopic techniques were used to investigate the structural features of the synthesized compounds, which supported an octahedral geometry for these complexes. In vitro antifungal activity of the ligand and its metal complexes revealed that the metal complexes are highly active compared to the standard drug. Metal complexes showed enhanced activity compared to the ligand, which is an important step towards the designing of antifungal drug candidates.

Abstract
The o-Hydroxy acetophenone [N-(3-hydroxy-2-naphthoyl)] hydrazone (H(2)o-HAHNH) has been prepared and its structure is confirmed by elemental analysis, IR, (1)H NMR and (13)C NMR spectroscopy. It has been used to produce diverse complexes with Co(II), Cd(II), Hg(II) and U(VI)O(2) ions. The isolated complexes have been investigated by elemental analysis, magnetic measurements, molar conductivity, thermal (TG, DTG) and spectral ((1)H NMR, (13)C NMR, IR, UV-visible, MS) studies. Infrared spectra suggested H(2)o-HAHNH acts as a bidentate and/or tridentate ligand. The electronic spectrum of [Co(Ho-HAHNH)(2)] complex as well as its magnetic moments suggesting octahedral geometry around Co(II) center. The TG analyses suggest high stability for most complexes followed by thermal decomposition in different steps. Moreover, the kinetic and thermodynamic parameters (Ea, A, ΔH, ΔS and ΔG) for the different decomposition steps of the [Co(Ho-HAHNH)(2)] and [Cd(Ho-HAHNH)(2)] complexes were calculated using the Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger methods. Moreover, the antibacterial and antifungal activities of the isolated compounds were studied using a wide spectrum of bacterial and fungal strains.

Abstract
Schiff base complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) with the o-hydroxyacetophenone [N-(3-hydroxy-2-naphthoyl)] hydrazone (H(2)o-HAHNH) containing N and O donor sites have been synthesized. Both ligand and its metal complexes were characterized by different physicochemical methods, elemental analysis, molar conductivity ((1)H NMR, (13)C NMR, IR, UV-visible, ESR, MS spectra) and also thermal analysis (TG and DTG) techniques. The discussion of the outcome data of the prepared complexes indicates that the ligand behave as a bidentate and/or tridentate ligand. The electronic spectra of the complexes as well as their magnetic moments suggest octahedral geometries for all isolated complexes. The room temperature solid state ESR spectrum of the Cu(II) complex shows d(x2-y2) as a ground state, suggesting tetragonally distorted octahedral geometry around Cu(II) centre. The molar conductance measurements proved that the complexes are non-electrolytes. The kinetic thermodynamic parameters such as: E(#), ΔH(#), ΔG(#), ΔS(#) are calculated from the DTG curves, for the [Ni(H(O)-HAHNH)(2)] and [Zn(H(2O)-HAHNH)(OAc)(2)]·H(2)O complexes using the Coats-Redfern equation. Also, the antimicrobial properties of all compounds were studied using a wide spectrum of bacterial and fungal strains. The [Cu(Ho-HAHNH)(OAc)(H(2)O)(2)] complex was the most active against all strains, including Aspergillus sp., Stemphylium sp. and Trichoderma sp. Fungi; E. coli and Clostridium sp. Bacteria.

Abstract
The title mononuclear complex molecule, [Zn(C7H4BrO3)2(C7H8N2O)2(H2O)2], has a crystallographically imposed centre of symmetry. The zinc(II) atom is coordinated by two N atoms from two N-methylnicotinamide ligands, two O atoms from two 5-bromosalicylate anions and two aqua O atoms in a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. Intramolecular O—H⋯O hydrogen-bonding interactions are present. In the crystal structure, molecules are linked by intermolecular O—H⋯O and N—H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional network perpendicular to [100].
