Abstract
The reaction of the Pt complexes cis-[Pt(CH3 )(Ar){Ph2 P(Ind)}2 ] (Ind=2-(3-methyl)indolyl, Ar=4-tBuC6 H4 (1 a), 4-CH3 C6 H4 (1 b), Ph (1 c), 4-FC6 H4 (1 d), 4-ClC6 H4 (1 e), 4-CF3 C6 H4 (1 f)) with HF afforded the polyfluorido complexes trans-[Pt(F(HF)2 )(Ar){Ph2 P(Ind)}2 ] 2 a-f, which can be converted into the fluoride derivatives trans-[Pt(F)(Ar){Ph2 P(Ind)}2 ] (3 a-f) by treatment with CsF. The compounds 2 a-f and 3 a-f were characterised thoroughly by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. The data reveal hydrogen bonding of the fluorido ligand with HF molecules and the indolylphosphine ligand. Polyfluorido complexes 2 a-f show larger |1 J(F,Pt)|, but lower 1 J(H,F) coupling constants when compared to the fluorido complexes 3 a-f. Decreasing 1 J(P,Pt) coupling constants in 2 a-f and 3 a-f suggest a cis influence of the aryl ligands in the following order: 4-tBuC6 H4 (a) ≈4-CH3 C6 H4 (b)<Ph (c)≪4-FC6 H4 (d)<4-ClC6 H4 (e)<4-CF3 C6 H4 (f). In addition, the larger cis influence of aryl ligands bearing electron-withdrawing groups in the para position correlates with decreasing magnitudes of |1 J(F,Pt)| coupling constants. The interpretation of the experimental data was supported by quantum-chemical DFT calculations.

Abstract
The activation and transformation of C–F bonds in fluoro-aromatics is a highly desirable process in organic chemistry. It provides synthetic methods/protocols for the generation of organic compounds possessing single or multiple C–F bonds, and effective catalytic systems for further study of the activation mode of inert chemical bonds. Due to the high polarity of the C–F bond and it having the highest bond energy in organics, C–F activation often faces considerable academic challenges. In this mini-review, the important research achievements in the activation and transformation of aromatic C–F bond, catalyzed by transition metal and metal-free systems, are presented.

π-Conjugated Polymers and Their Application in Organic and Hybrid Organic-Silicon Solar Cells. Polymers (Basel) 2022; 14:polym14040716. Abstract
The evolution and emergence of organic solar cells and hybrid organic-silicon heterojunction solar cells have been deemed as promising sustainable future technologies, owing to the use of π-conjugated polymers. In this regard, the scope of this review article presents a comprehensive summary of the applications of π-conjugated polymers as hole transporting layers (HTLs) or emitters in both organic solar cells and organic-silicon hybrid heterojunction solar cells. The different techniques used to synthesize these polymers are discussed in detail, including their electronic band structure and doping mechanisms. The general architecture and principle of operating heterojunction solar cells is addressed. In both discussed solar cell types, incorporation of π-conjugated polymers as HTLs have seen a dramatic increase in efficiencies attained by these devices, owing to the high transmittance in the visible to near-infrared region, reduced carrier recombination, high conductivity, and high hole mobilities possessed by the p-type polymeric materials. However, these cells suffer from long-term stability due to photo-oxidation and parasitic absorptions at the anode interface that results in total degradation of the polymeric p-type materials. Although great progress has been seen in the incorporation of conjugated polymers in the various solar cell types, there is still a long way to go for cells incorporating polymeric materials to realize commercialization and large-scale industrial production due to the shortcomings in the stability of the polymers. This review therefore discusses the progress in using polymeric materials as HTLs in organic solar cells and hybrid organic-silicon heterojunction solar cells with the intention to provide insight on the quest of producing highly efficient but less expensive solar cells.

Abstract
1H NMR spectroscopy is a powerful tool for the conformational analysis of ortho-phenylene foldamers in solution. However, as o-phenylenes are integrated into ever more complex systems, we are reaching the limits of what can be analyzed by 1H- and 13C-based NMR techniques. Here, we explore fluorine labeling of o-phenylene oligomers for analysis by 19F NMR spectroscopy. Two series of fluorinated oligomers have been synthesized. Optimization of monomers for Suzuki coupling enables an efficient stepwise oligomer synthesis. The oligomers all adopt well-folded geometries in solution, as determined by 1H NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. 19F NMR experiments complement these methods well. The resolved singlets of one-dimensional 19F{1H} spectra are very useful for determining relative conformer populations. The additional information from two-dimensional 19F NMR spectra is also clearly valuable when making 1H assignments. The comparison of 19F isotropic shielding predictions to experimental chemical shifts is not, however, currently sufficient by itself to establish o-phenylene geometries.

Abstract
The article describes the synthesis of aminoorgano-functionalized silica as a prospective material for catalysis application. The amino groups have electron donor properties which are valuable for the metal chemical state of palladium. Therefore, the presence of electron donor groups is important for increasing catalysts’ stability. The research is devoted to the investigation of silica amino-modified support influence on the activity and stability of palladium species in 4-nitroaniline hydrogenation process. A series of catalysts with different supports such as SiO2, SiO2-C3H6-NH2 (amino-functionalized silica), γ-Al2O3 and activated carbon were studied. The catalytic activity was studied in the hydrogenation of 4-nitroaniline to 1,4-phenylenediamine. The catalysts were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and chemisorption of hydrogen by the pulse technique. The 5 wt.% Pd/SiO2-C3H6-NH2 catalyst exhibited the highest catalytic activity for 4-nitroaniline hydrogenation with 100% conversion and 99% selectivity with respect to 1,4-phenylenediamine.

Abstract
The protonolysis of C-Au bonds in [AuRL] organometallic complexes has been studied by calorimetry for 12 R groups. The experimental data have been combined with density functional theory calculations to obtain bond dissociation energy (BDE) values. The C-Au BDE values show a good correlation with the corresponding isolobal C-H BDE values. The heat released in the protonolysis of [AuRL] has also been measured for R = Ph and L = P(OPh)3, PPh3, PMe3, PCy3, and IPr, and these values strongly depend on the trans influence of L because of the mutual destabilization of the L-Au and Au-C bonds. The enthalpies of the transmetalation reaction [AuR(PPh3)] + SnIBu3 → [AuI(PPh3)] + SnRBu3 for seven R groups have been measured and compared with those of the corresponding [AuR(PPh3)] protonolysis.

Abstract

Polyfluorinated biphenyls
are interesting and promising substrates
for many different applications. Unfortunately, all current methods
for the syntheses of these compounds only work for a hand full of
molecules or only in very special cases. Thus, many of these compounds
are still inaccessible to date. Here we report a general strategy
for the synthesis of a wide range of highly fluorinated biphenyls.
In our studies we investigated crucial parameters, such as different
phosphine ligands and the influence of various nucleophiles and electrophiles
with different degrees of fluorination. These results extend the scope
of the already very versatile Suzuki–Miyaura reaction toward
the synthesis of very electron-poor products, making these more readily
accessible. The presented methodology is scalable and versatile without
the need for elaborate phosphine ligands or Pd-precatalysts.

Abstract
A study of electronic factors governing the thermodynamics of C-H and N-H bond addition to Ir(I) complexes was conducted. DFT calculations were performed on an extensive series of trans-(PH3)2IrXL complexes (L = NH3 and CO; X = various monodentate ligands) to parametrize the relative σ- and π-donating/withdrawing properties of the various ligands, X. Computed energies of oxidative addition of methane to a series of three- and four-coordinate Ir(I) complexes bearing an ancillary ligand, X, were correlated with the resulting (σ(X), π(X)) parameter set. Regression analysis indicates that the thermodynamics of addition of methane to trans-(PH3)2IrX are generally strongly disfavored by increased σ-donation from the ligand X, in contradiction to widely held views on oxidative addition. The trend for oxidative addition of methane to four-coordinate Ir(I) was closely related to that observed for the three-coordinate complexes, albeit slightly more complicated. The computational analysis was found to be consistent with the rates of reductive elimination of benzene from a series of isoelectronic Ir(III) phenyl hydride complexes, measured experimentally in this work and previously reported. Extending the analysis of ancillary ligand energetic effects to the oxidative addition of ammonia to three-coordinate Ir(I) complexes leads to the conclusion that increasing σ-donation by X also disfavors oxidative addition of N-H bonds to trans-(PH3)2IrX. However, coordination of NH3 to the Ir(I) center is disfavored even more strongly by increasing σ-donation by X, which explains why the few documented examples of H-NH2 oxidative addition to transition metals involve complexes with strongly σ-donating ligands situated trans to the site of addition. An orbital-based rationale for the observed results is presented.
