Abstract
Gasoline is one of the most encountered ignitable liquids (IL) in fire debris analysis. The extraction of gasoline from fire debris samples presents challenges due to the complicated nature of multicomponent mixtures. This research work proposed a novel carbon nanotube-assisted solid phase microextraction (CNT-SPME) fiber coupled with gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC/MS) to determine gasoline residues for fire debris analysis. The CNT-SPME fiber was prepared by a sequential coating of polydopamine, epoxy, and CNTs on a stainless-steel wire. The extraction capabilities of the CNT-SPME fiber for gasoline and its major aromatic groups (xylenes, alkylbenzenes, indanes, and naphthalenes) from neat and spiked samples were promising, with linear dynamic ranges of 0.4-12.5 and 3.1-12.5 µg 20-mL-1 headspace vial, respectively. The average relative standard deviations and accuracies for all concentration ranges in this work were lower than 15%. The relative recovery of the CNT-SPME fiber for all aromatic groups ranged from 28 ± 3% to 59 ± 2%. Additionally, the CNT-SPME fiber showed a higher selectivity for the naphthalenes group in gasoline, as indicated by the experimental outcome using a pulsed thermal desorption process of the extracts. We envision the nanomaterial-based SPME offers promising opportunities for extracting and detecting other ILs to support fire investigation.

Abstract
A novel worm-like nickel-titanium oxide nanocomposite coating was directly grown on a nickel-titanium alloy wire by low-voltage electrochemical anodization in alkaline ethylene glycol and water solution. The in situ growth of nickel-titanium oxide nanocomposites greatly depended on the volume ratio of ethylene glycol to water and temperature. Coupled to high-performance liquid chromatography with UV detection by static desorption in the mobile phase, the adsorption performance of the as-prepared fiber was evaluated for solid-phase microextraction of representative environmental analytes in water. The results indicate that the as-prepared fiber exhibits higher extraction capability for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons than commercial polydimethylsiloxane and polyacrylate fibers. After optimizing the extraction parameters, the calibration graphs of the developed method was linear in the range of 0.05-200 μg/L with correlation coefficients above 0.998. Limit of detection ranged from 0.013 to 0.145 μg/L for seven target analytes. Relative standard deviations of intraday and interday analyses varied from 4.0 to 5.3% and from 4.7 to 6.3% with the single fiber, respectively. The relative recoveries of 84.4-109% were achieved for highly efficient enrichment and determination of target analytes in spiked river and snow water. Moreover, the as-prepared fiber can be used more than 200 times.

Abstract
The results of an innovative study on a new and highly efficient stationary phase based on the SnO2 nanorods coating on fused silica have been reported in this paper. SnO2 nanorods have been grown on fused silica fibers using a hydrothermal process. The extraction properties of the fiber were investigated using headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) mode coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry detection for 1,4-dichloro-2-nitrobenzene, biphenyl, and acenaphthene. The effect of different variables on extraction efficiency was studied simultaneously using Box-Behnken method as experimental design. The variables of interest in the HS-SPME were salt effect, adsorption temperature, extraction, and desorption time. Under optimal conditions, the calibration curves were linear up to 10(2)-10(5) ng L(-1) (R(2) > 0.998) with detection limits of 10(-3), 10(-1), and 10 ng L(-1) for acenaphthene, biphenyl, and 1,4-dichloro-2-nitrobenzene, respectively. The relative standard deviations for single fiber and fiber to fiber were less than 9.8 and 12.5 %, respectively. The high stability of the SnO2 nanostructure coating is proved at relatively high temperatures (up to 300 °C) with a high extraction capacity and long lifespan (more than 100 times). By applying the proposed technique, promising recoveries (93-98 %) were obtained in the analysis of environmental water samples.

Abstract
The results of the innovative study on a new stationary phase with high efficiency based on ZnO nano and micro rod coating on fused silica are reported in this paper. ZnO nanorods with a diameter in the range of 70-300 nm and the length of about 500 nm, have been grown on fused silica fibers using a hydrothermal process. The extraction properties of the fiber were investigated using headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME) mode coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry detection (GC-MS) for 1,4-dichloro-nitrobenzene, biphenyl and acenaphthene. The calibration curves were linear up to 10(2)-10(7) ng L(-1) (R(2)>0.995) with detection limits of 10(-3) ng L(-1) for biphenyl and acenaphthene and 10 ng L(-1) for 1,4-dichloro-nitrobenzene. The RSD for single fiber and fiber-to-fiber were less than 7.0 and 11.5%, respectively. The high stability of the ZnO coating is proved at relatively high temperatures (up to 300°C) with a high extraction capacity and long lifespan (more than 100 times). Promising recoveries (91-102%) were obtained in environmental water samples analysis by applying the proposed technique.
