Abstract
A sensitive method based on liquid chromatography combined with a diode array detector was developed and validated to simultaneously determine tamoxifen, and its active metabolites N-desmethyltamoxifen, 4-hydroxytamoxifen, and endoxifen in human plasma samples. The green and sustainable vortex-assisted dispersive liquid-phase microextraction technique based on the natural hydrophobic deep eutectic solvent was used for the extraction and pre-concentration of the analytes. Chemometrics and multivariate analysis were used to optimize the independent variables, including the type and volume of deep eutectic solvent, extraction time, and ionic strength. Under optimal conditions, calibration curves were linear in a suitable range with the lower limits of quantification (0.8-10.0 μg L-1 ), which covered the relevant concentrations of the analytes in plasma samples for a clinical study. Intra- and inter-day precision evaluated at three concentrations for the analytes were lower than 8.2 and 12.1 %, respectively. Accuracy was in the range of 94.9-104.7%. The applicability of the developed method on human plasma samples illustrated the range 45.1-72.8, 98.4-128.3, 0.9-1.2, and 2.7-6.1 μg L-1 for tamoxifen, N-desmethyltamoxifen, 4-hydroxytamoxifen, and endoxifen, respectively. The validated method can be effective for the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and therapeutic drug monitoring studies of tamoxifen and its main metabolites in biological fluids. Abstract
Background:
Currently, ovulation stimulation with clomiphene citrate is the most commonly used treatment in
infertility. It stimulates the secretion of gonadotropins necessary for the release of an egg.
Objective:
In this study, a microextraction method of liquid phase was utilized using hollow fiber with high-performance
liquid chromatography and ultraviolet (HPLC-UV) detector for pre-concentration and measuring clomiphene citrate in
plasma.
Method:
Clomiphene citrate was extracted from a 15 ml sample solution with pH=11 in an organic solvent (Octanol),
which was located in the vent wall of the fiber. Subsequently, the drug was introduced into an internal organic solvent into
an acidic pH=2 receptor that was located inside the fiber. In the following, effective factors in microextraction including
pH of the donor phases and acceptor phases, type of organic solvent, ion phase strength, extraction time and stirring speed
were investigated and optimized.
Results:
After extracting the drug with an optimal pre-concentration factor of 212, extraction recovery was 91%, the detection limit was 1.50 ng/ml, limiting the linearity of 5-1000 ng/mL and %RSD=6.98.
Conclusion:
The proposed method was successfully implemented and optimized for trace detection of clomiphene citrate
in plasma, therefore the clinical and investigational application of this method is facilitated by this study.

Abstract
An electrospun polyethylene terephthalate/graphene oxide nanofibrous mat was fabricated and used as an effective and novel membrane for the solid-phase extraction of tamoxifen in human blood plasma samples before detection by high-performance liquid chromatography. The membrane was characterized by some identification techniques, such as FTIR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy. The effective variables of the extraction procedure including desorption condition (type and volume of the eluent), adsorbent dose, pH of sample solution, salt concentration, and sample loading time were investigated and their optimum values were obtained using one factor at a time methodology. Under the optimized conditions, the results showed wide linear concentration range of 5-2000 ng/mL with a determination coefficient of 0.992. The limits of detection and limits of quantification were 1.3 and 5.0 ng/mL, respectively. The intra-day and inter-day precisions were 3.4 and 4.6%, respectively. The method was successfully applied to determination of tamoxifen in the blood plasma samples and satisfactory relative recoveries (92.6-98.3 %) were achieved.

Abstract
A fully automated, high-throughput method based on thin-film solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry was developed for simultaneous quantitative analysis of 110 doping compounds, selected from ten classes and varying in physical and chemical properties. Among four tested extraction phases, C18 blades were chosen, as they provided optimum recoveries and the lowest carryover effect. The SPME method was optimized in terms of extraction pH, ionic strength of the sample, washing solution, extraction and desorption times for analysis of urine samples. Chromatographic separation was obtained in reversed-phase model; for detection, two mass spectrometers were used: triple quadrupole and full scan orbitrap. These combinations allowed for selective analysis of targeted compounds, as well as a retrospective study for known and unknown compounds. The developed method was validated according to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) criteria, taking into account Minimum Required Performance Level (MRPL) values required by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). In addition to analysis of free substances, it was also shown that the proposed method is able to extract the glucuronated forms of the compounds. The developed assay offers fast and reliable analysis of various prohibited substances, an attractive alternative to the standard methods that are currently used in anti-doping laboratories.

Abstract
A new fabrication strategy was proposed to prepare polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS-) coated solid-phase microextraction (SPME) on inexpensive and unbreakable Cu fiber. PDMS was covalently bonded to the Cu substrate using self-assembled monolayer (SAM) of (3-mercaptopropyl)trimethoxysilane (3MPTS) as binder. To increase the performance of the fiber, the incorporation effect of some nanomaterials including silica nanoparticles (NPs), carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and carboxylated carbon nanotubes (CNT-COOH) to PDMS coating was compared. The surface morphology of the prepared fibers was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and their applicability was evaluated through the extraction of some volatile organic compounds (VOCs) ofEucalyptusleaf in headspace mode, and parameters affecting the extraction efficiency including extraction temperature and extraction time were optimized. Extracted compounds were analyzed by GC-MS instrument. The results obtained indicated that prepared fibers have some advantages relative to previously prepared SPME fibers, such as higher thermal stability and improved performance of the fiber. Also, results showed that SPME is a fast, simple, quick, and sensitive technique for sampling and sample introduction ofEucalyptusVOCs.

Abstract
Therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), as part of clinical process of medical treatments, is commonly used to maintain 'therapeutic' drug concentrations. TDM is useful to identify the causes of unwanted or unexpected responses, to prevent unnecessary diagnostic testing, to improve clinical outcomes, and even to save lives. The determination of drug concentration in blood samples requires an excellent sample preparation procedure. Recent trends in sample preparation include miniaturization, automation, high-throughput performance, on-line coupling with analytical instruments and low-cost operation through extremely low or no solvent consumption. Microextraction techniques, such as liquid- and solid-phase microextraction, have these advantages over the traditional techniques. This paper reviews the recent developments in microextraction techniques used for drug monitoring in serum, plasma or blood samples.

Abstract
Integration of sampling and sample preparation with various analytical instruments is a highly desirable feature for any analytical method. This is most conveniently achieved by using microextraction techniques or various microdevices. Among these techniques, solid-phase microextraction (SPME) is particularly remarkable due to its simplicity and effectiveness. This review discusses the most recent applications of SPME in bioanalysis, grouped according to the analytical instrument that SPME is coupled to. It is shown that one of the most important aspects of such analytical methods is the ability of SPME to perform direct and selective extraction of analytes from complex biological samples. By far, the most popular method continues to be SPME coupled to GC. Nevertheless, the last 2 years have witnessed significant advances in other areas, such as successful automation of SPME coupled to liquid chromatography and the development of new coatings suitable for direct extraction from biological samples. Furthermore, a few bioanalytical applications based on direct coupling of SPME to MS, ion mobility spectrometry, CE and analytical chemiluminescence have been reported.
