Abstract
Phthalic acid ester (PAE) contamination in popular drink bubble tea has been hardly studied in the world. In this work, a liquid-liquid extraction following solid phase extraction (LLE-SPE)-UPLC-MS/MS method was first established for trace determination of ten PAEs in bubble tea. The developed method was validated with respect to linearity (R2 > 0.992), low limit of detections (LODs, 0.49-3.16 µg/L), and satisfactory recoveries (61.8-127.6%) with a low relative standard derivations (RSDs, 1.1-16.4%), which was also validated for commercial milk. Six out of ten PAEs, i.e., diethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), diisobutyl phthalate (DIBP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), dihexyl phthalate (DHP), and diphenyl phthalate (DPP) were detected in Chinese bubble tea with concentrations ranging from not detection (ND) to 53.43 µg/L, while DEHP, DBP, DIBP, DEP, and dimethyl phthalate (DMP) were detected in commercial milk with concentrations ranging from ND to 110.58 µg/L. The respective average concentrations of DEHP in Chinese bubble tea and commercial milk were 19.40 and 23.46 µg/L, which were over two times that in drinking water quality standards of several countries including Israel, Korea, Oman, and Singapore (i.e., 8 µg/L). Calculated with human estimated daily intake (EDI), the average EDIs of five out of seven PAEs in bubble tea were higher than those in commercial milk. For example, the calculated EDI of DIBP in bubble tea was 5 times that in commercial milk, while their respective corresponding EDIs of DBP and DEHP were over 2.4 and 1.6 times. Based on estrogen equivalence (EEQ) with the unit of ng E2/L, the average EEQs of the ten PAEs in Chinese bubble tea and commercial milk were 14.26 and 17.06 ng E2/L, which were 52.8 and 62.3 times the observed effect concentration that could cause egg mortality of zebrafish. It is evident that the potential estrogenic effect of PAEs in bubble tea and commercial milk cannot be negligible. Given the fact that PAE contamination in bubble tea has been hardly investigated, such study is urgently to be performed in a global view.

Abstract
A novel porphyrin-based conjugated microporous polymer (PCMP) with microporous structure and nitrogen-rich pyrrole building blocks was synthesized. The PCMP was used as a coating material to prepare solid-phase microextraction (SPME) fibers by sol-gel technique. Due to the toxicity of the phthalate esters (PAEs) and the necessity for their sensitive determinations in some food samples, the SPME fiber was investigated for the extraction of eleven PAEs from six different children's milk beverages prior to their detection by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. Under the optimal conditions, the linear response range for the PAEs was in the range from 0.03 to 200 µg L-1 and the limits of detection (S/N = 3) for the analytes were 0.01-3.00 μg L-1. The method recoveries for the PAEs were between 80% and 120%, with the relative standard deviations varying from 1.3% to 9.8%. The method was successfully applied for the determination of PAEs in children's milk beverages.

Abstract
A challenging task in analytical chemistry is an application of renewable and natural materials for isolation of hazardous substances such as antimicrobial drugs from environmental samples. The energy-efficient scalable hydrothermal procedure to fabricate the eco-friendly "switchable" sorbent based on hydroxyapatite nanoparticles with in situ modified surface using a small amount of capping agents was developed. Sorbents characterization including the surface composition investigation via quantum-chemical calculation based on the original approach was provided. The sorbents demonstrated well expressed controllable surface switching and high values of the sorption and elution efficiency for tetracycline, oxytetracycline, and chlortetracycline achieved by simple change of the medium pH. These processes were thoroughly discussed based on the results of chemical and computational experiments. A simple and universal strategy for choosing a suitable sorbent for solid phase extraction of target analytes was proposed for the first time. It was shown that the developed eco-friendly sample preparation procedure with use of biocompatible sorbents could be applied both for removal of target analytes from sample matrix (water samples) as well as for the quantitative analytes determination after elution step. It is believed that the presented research is significant for the determination of different amphoteric analytes in wide variety of samples.

Abstract
This research presents a green synthetic pathway for the preparation of a new biosorbent and eco-friendly extraction process of three phthalate esters: dimethyl phthalate, di-butyl phthalate and benzyl butyl phthalate, from cosmetics and baby care products. Dispersive solid-phase extraction was used based on a new core-shell biomass/sorbent; chitosan-loaded lawsone. The proposed method provides fortunate trapping of phthalate esters in a one-step extraction. Under the optimized extraction conditions, the current work was presented low detection limits (0.03-0.15 ng. g-1), limits of quantification (0.1-0.5 ng·g-1) and reasonable linearity (0.1-10 000 ng. g-1). The applicability of the method was estimated by recovery experiments at different spiking levels (n = 5) for phthalate esters in the real samples.

Abstract
The global water bottling market grows annually. Today, to ensure consumer safety, it is important to verify the possible migration of compounds from bottles into the water contained in them. Potential health risks due to the prevalence of bisphenol A (BPA) and phthalates (PAEs) exposure through water bottle consumption have become an important issue. BPA, benzyl butyl phthalate (BBP), di-n-butyl phthalate (DBP) and di (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) can cause adverse effects on human health. Papers of literature published in English, with BPA, BBP, DBP and DEHP detections during 2017, by 2019 by liquid chromatography and gas chromatography analysis methods were searched. The highest concentrations of BPA, BBP, DBP and DEHP in all the bottled waters studied were found to be 5.7, 12.11, 82.8 and 64.0 μg/L, respectively. DBP was the most compound detected and the main contributor by bottled water consumption with 23.7% of the Tolerable Daily Intake (TDI). Based on the risk assessment, BPA, BBP, DBP and DEHP in commercial water bottles do not pose a serious concern for humans. The average estrogen equivalent level revealed that BPA, BBP, DBP and DEHP in bottled waters may induce adverse estrogenic effects on human health.

Abstract
In widespread use in commercial products as plasticizers, phthalic acid esters (phthalates) have worried researchers and society in general, given the negative impacts on living organisms, especially human health. Since they are not chemically linked to the polymeric matrix, their migration is evident for samples that come into contact with plastics that contain them, such as water, food and saliva. In this work, a new strategy is described, named parallel-disposable pipette extraction (Pa-DPX), in a fast, efficient and robust analytical method using five simultaneous extractions for the determination of migration of 6 phthalates from common plastic materials (children's toys, school supplies, dog toys and oral contact items) to saliva simulant, using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The optimized conditions were 5 extraction cycles with 1600 μL of saliva simulant and desorption with 200 μL of ethyl acetate using 5 cycles with the same aliquot. The calibration curves resulted in determination coefficients higher than 0.9915, limits of detection at 1.5 μg L-1, and the quantification limits were 5.0 μg L-1. Excellent results were obtained for repeatability (relative standard deviation ranging from 8.7% to 20.1% for 5 μg L-1) and intermediate precision, varying the day of analyses (7.9%-16.2%). The analyte recovery ranged from 75% to 114% for two different samples, in four different levels of concentration. The Pa-DPX-GC-MS method was successfully applied to determine the migration of PAE from 21 samples. At least one PAE was detected in 81% of samples, and di-n-octyl phthalate was found in higher concentration, achieving the migration of almost 30 μg per g of sample.

Abstract
Abstract
In the present study, a sensitive, efficient and repeatable method for the simultaneous extraction and determination of 13 types of phthalic acid esters (PAEs) in flavoring essence samples using magnetic graphene solid-phase extraction coupled with gas chromatography tandem mass spectrometry was developed. Due to the unique structure of magnetic graphene, it has several advantages, such as large surface area and fast separation ability. This unique structure not only provided strong magnetic responsiveness for the separation but also prevented the self-aggregation of graphene. The large delocalized p-electron system of graphene can form strong π-stacking interactions with the benzene ring. Thus, graphene may be also a good candidate adsorbent for the adsorption of benzenoid-form compounds. Several magnetic soild-phase extraction parameters, such as elution solvents, amounts of sorbents, enrichment time and desorption time were optimized. The optimized procedures for this method were performed by ultrasonication using ethyl acetate as elution solvent for 5 min. Under the optimal conditions, the developed method provided spiked recoveries of 75.0–105.3% with relative standard deviations of ~5.6% and limits of detection were 0.011–0.091 mg/kg. Good linear relationships were observed with the coefficient of determination (R2) > 0.993 for all the analytes. Finally, the validated method was successfully applied to the analysis of PAEs in real samples.

Abstract
In the near future, Poland is going to have more and more favorable conditions for viticulture. Organic acids and polyphenols are among the most commonly analyzed compounds due to their beneficial properties for human health and their importance in the winemaking process. In this work, a new technique involving ultrasound-assisted solvent extraction of porous membrane-packed liquid samples (UASE-PMLS) was for the first time described and applied for real samples. The methodology based on UASE-PMLS for organic acids and polyphenols in wine samples was optimized and validated. Using the new technique coupled to GC–MS, organic acids and polyphenols were evaluated in Polish wine samples. Extraction solvent, extraction temperature, derivatization time and sample pH were optimized. Chemometric tools were used for data treatment. Good linearity was obtained for the concentration ranges evaluated with r values between 0.9852 and 0.9993. All parameters of method validation (intra- and inter-day precision and matrix effect) were over 80% with coefficient of variation (CV) up to 17%. Recovery was between (92.0 ± 8.5)% and (113 ± 16)%. Finally, green assessment was evaluated using Analytical Eco-Scale and Green Analytical Procedure Index (GAPI). The UASE-PMLS is characterized by many advantages, e.g., the extraction process is fast and easy coupled to GC–MS. Regarding other extraction techniques, the amount of used solvent is minimum, and no waste is generated. Therefore, it is an environmentally friendly technique.

Abstract
The use of green extraction phases has gained much attention in different fields of study, including in sample preparation for the determination of organic compounds by chromatography techniques. Green extraction phases are considered as an alternative to conventional phases due to several advantages such as non-toxicity, biodegradability, low cost and ease of preparation. In addition, the use of greener extraction phases reinforces the environmentally-friendly features of microextraction techniques. Thus, this work presents a review about new materials that have been used in extraction phases applied to liquid and sorbent-based microextractions of organic compounds in different matrices.

Abstract
AbstractA one-step incubation ELISA kit based on monoclonal antibody against dibutyl phthalate (DBP) was developed. After optimizing concentrations of coating antigen, antibody and composition of the assay buffer, an inhibition curve was plotted. The IC50 is 29.6 ng·mL-1, and the detection limit for DBP is 3.6 ng·mL-1. Compared with other ELISA methods, this ELISA kit had a simpler sample preparation, costed less time for detection and could detect more types of sample. The recoveries of DBP in water, beverage and liquor samples were range from 78% to 110.4%, the range of coefficient of variations is 7.7-15.3%. The cross reactivity was very low (&1%) except that for butyl benzyl phthalate (3.9%) and the di-isobutyl phthalate (12.5%). The detection results in liquor showed good correlation with those from GC-MS. All data above indicated that this kit could be used as the fast and high-throughput screening of DBP in water, beverage and liquor.

Abstract
In this study, an environmentally friendly and high-throughput method was developed for the determination of estrone (E1), 17β-estradiol (E2), 17α-ethinylestradiol (EE2) and estriol (E3) in human urine by liquid chromatography-fluorescence detector (HPLC-FLD). A biosorbent (bract) was proposed as extraction phase for Thin-Film SPME combined with 96-well system. The characterization of the biosorbent was performed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The optimizations were carried out through univariate and multivariate approaches with optimal conditions comprised of urine samples diluted 40-fold, liquid desorption performed in methanol and addition of 20% (w/v) of NaCl in the sample. Considering an extraction/desorption cycle using the 96-well plate system, the sample preparation time was 1.7 min per sample, which contributes to the high-throughput of the method proposed. The analytical parameters of merit were determined and satisfactory results were achieved, including limits of detection ranging from 0.3 μg L-1 for estradiol to 3 μg L-1 for estrone, while limits of quantification varied from 1 μg L-1 for estradiol to 10 μg L-1 for estrone. The correlation coefficients ranged from 0.9947 for estrone to 0.9999 for estriol. The accuracy and intra-assay and intermediate precisions (RSD) were evaluated through extractions in diluted urine samples (40-fold) spiked with each analyte (1, 200 and 400 μg L-1 for E3; 0.1, 200 and 400 μg L-1 for E2; 0.5, 200 and 400 μg L-1 for EE2 and 10, 200 and 400 μg L-1 for E1). The relative recoveries (n = 3) ranged from 71 to 105%, intra-assay precision (n = 3) varied from 1 to 17% and intermediate precision (n = 9) ranged from 2 to 19%. The method developed can be successfully used for the quantification of estrogens in human urine samples.

Abstract
The nanofibrous polycaprolactam (polyamide 6 (PA6)) incorporated with manganese oxide (MnO) nanoparticles was fabricated by electrospinning and used as a new fiber coating for headspace-solid phase microextraction (HS-SPME) of the selected phthalate esters (PEs) in water samples prior to GC-μECD. The adsorbent was fully characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The main parameters that affect the HS-SPME efficiency such as extraction temperature, ionic strength, extraction and desorption times were investigated. The analytical figures of merit were obtained under the optimized conditions as follows: linear dynamic range (LDR), 0.500-5.00 × 102 ng mL-1; relative standard deviations (RSDs, n = 3), 1.86-10.9%; limits of detection (LODs), 0.0400-0.193 ng mL-1. The method was applied for determination of the target analytes in river water, bottled water, mineral water and soda samples and the relative recoveries were obtained between 90.3 and 107%.

Abstract
The efficiency of the extraction and removal of pollutants from food and the environment has been an important issue in analytical science. By incorporating inorganic species into an organic matrix, a new material known as an organic-inorganic hybrid material is formed. As it possesses high selectivity, permeability, and mechanical and chemical stabilities, organic-inorganic hybrid materials constitute an emerging research field and have become popular to serve as sorbents in various separaton science methods. Here, we review recent significant advances in analytical solid-phase extraction employing organic-inorganic composite/nanocomposite sorbents for the extraction of organic and inorganic pollutants from various types of food and environmental matrices. The physicochemical characteristics, extraction properties, and analytical performances of sorbents are discussed; including morphology and surface characteristics, types of functional groups, interaction mechanism, selectivity and sensitivity, accuracy, and regeneration abilities. Organic-inorganic hybrid sorbents combined with extraction techniques are highly promising for sample preparation of various food and environmental matrixes with analytes at trace levels.
