Abstract
Staphylococcal enterotoxin B (SEB) in food is a serious health risk, making rapid and accurate detection methods essential. Herein, we synthesized a magnetic plasmonic blackbody, Fe3O4@Au/PDA, by coating a gold/polydopamine (Au/PDA) layer onto an Fe3O4 core. This Fe3O4@Au/PDA exhibits broadband absorption, excellent stability, and rapid magnetic response, making it ideal for use as a magnetic separation tool and colorimetric signal amplifier. We integrated Fe3O4@Au/PDA into a lateral flow immunoassay (LFIA) for ultrasensitive SEB detection, combining magnetic enrichment with enhanced colorimetric signal output. The Fe3O4@Au/PDA-based LFIA achieved a detection limit of 0.19 ng/mL, approximately 41 times lower than traditional gold nanoparticle-based LFIA. Its real-world applicability was tested in various food samples (milk, milk powder, apple juice, and lettuce) with recoveries between 82.4 % and 111.2 % and a coefficient of variation below 12.6 %. Collectively, the designed Fe3O4@Au/PDA shows great promise as a novel multifunctional signal amplification label, advancing the design and development of ultrasensitive LFIA for various fields, such as food safety detection.

Abstract
Accurate and sensitive determination of human immunoglobulin G (HIgG) level is critical for diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, humoral immunodeficiencies, and infectious disease. In this study, versatile tri-signal probes were developed by preparing CdS@SiO2 nanorods that integrate photoluminescence (PL), multi-phonon resonant Raman scattering (MRRS) and infrared absorption (IRA) properties. Through the coating of multiple CdS nanoparticles as cores within SiO2 shells, the PL and MRRS properties of CdS were improved, resulting in a significantly lowered limit of detection (LOD), with the lowest LOD of 12.37 ag mL-1. Integration with the distinctive IRA property of SiO2 shells widened the detection range towards higher concentrations, establishing a final linear range of 50 ag mL-1 to 10 μg mL-1. The remarkable consistency among the three signals highlighted the robust internal verification capability for accurate detection. This approach enhances flexibility in selecting detection methodologies to suit diverse scenarios, facilitating HIgG detection. The tri-signal nanoprobes also exhibited excellent detection selectivity, specificity and repeatability. This study presents a fresh idea for developing high-performance detection strategies.

Abstract
An electrochemical biosensor has been developed for detection of Escherichia coli O157 by integrating lateral flow with screen-printed electrodes. The screen-printed electrodes were attached under the lateral flow detection line, and organic-inorganic nanoflowers prepared from E. coli O157-specific antibodies as an organic component were attached to the lateral flow detection line. In the presence of E. coli O157, an organic-inorganic nanoflower-E. coli O157-antimicrobial peptide-labelled ferrocene sandwich structure is formed on the lateral flow detection line. Differential pulse voltammetry is applied using a smartphone-based device to monitor ferrocene on the detection line. The resulting electrochemical biosensor could specifically detect E. coli O157 with a limit of detection of 25 colony-forming units mL-1. Through substitution of antibodies of organic components in organic-inorganic nanoflowers, biosensors have great potential for the detection of other pathogens in biomedical research and clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
Immunochromatographic assays (ICAs) have been widely used in the field detection of mycotoxin contaminants. Nevertheless, the lack of multisignal readout capability and the ability of signaling tags to maintain their biological activity while efficiently loading antibodies remain a great challenge in satisfying diverse testing demands. Herein, we proposed a novel three-in-one multifunctional hollow vanadium nanomicrosphere (high brightness-catalytic-photothermal properties)-mediated triple-readout ICA (VHMS-ICA) for sensitive detection of T-2. As the key to this biosensing strategy, vanadium was used as the catalytic-photothermal characterization center, and natural polyphenols were utilized as the bridging ligands for coupling with the antibody while self-assembling with formaldehyde cross-linking into a hollow nanocage-like structure, which offers the possibility of realizing a three-signal readout strategy and improving the coupling efficiency to the antibody while preserving its biological activity. The constructed sensors showed a detection limit (LOD) of 2 pg/mL for T-2, which was about 345-fold higher than that of conventional gold nanoparticle-based ICA (0.596 ng/mL). As anticipated, the detection range of VHMS-ICA was extended about 8-fold compared with the colorimetric signal alone. Ultimately, the proposed immunosensor performed well in maize and oat samples, with satisfactory recoveries. Owing to the synergistic and complementary interactions between distinct signaling modes, the establishment of multimodal immunosensors with multifunctional tags is an efficient strategy to satisfy diversified detection demands.

Abstract
Immunochromatographic assay (ICA) plays an important role in in vitro diagnostics because of its simpleness, convenience, fastness, sensitivity, accuracy, and low cost. The employment of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs), possessing both excellent optical properties and magnetic separation functions, can effectively promote the performances of ICA. In this study, an ICA based on MNPs (MNP-ICA) has been successfully developed for the sensitive detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The magnetic probes were prepared by covalently conjugating carboxylated MNPs with the specific monoclonal antibody against CEA, which were not only employed to enrich and extract CEA from serum samples under an external magnetic field but also used as a signal output with its inherent optical property. Under the optimal parameters, the limit of detection (LOD) for qualitative detection with naked eyes was 1.0 ng/mL, and the quantitative detection could be realized with the help of a portable optical reader, indicating that the ratio of optical signal intensity correlated well with CEA concentration ranging from 1.0 ng/mL to 64.0 ng/mL (R2 = 0.9997). Additionally, method comparison demonstrated that the magnetic probes were beneficial for sensitivity improvement due to the matrix effect reduction after magnetic separation, and the MNP-ICA is eight times higher sensitive than ICA based on colloidal gold nanoparticles. The developed MNP-ICA will provide sensitive, convenient, and efficient technical support for biomarkers rapid screening in cancer diagnosis and prognosis.

Abstract
The development of multifunctional biomimetic nanozymes with high catalytic activity and sensitive response is rapidly advancing. The hollow nanostructures, including metal hydroxides, metal-organic frameworks, and metallic oxides, possess excellent loading capacity and a high surface area-to-mass ratio. This characteristic allows for the exposure of more active sites and reaction channels, resulting in enhanced catalytic activity of nanozymes. In this work, based on the coordinating etching principle, a facile template-assisted strategy for synthesizing Fe(OH)3 nanocages by using Cu2O nanocubes as the precursors was proposed. The unique three-dimensional structure of Fe(OH)3 nanocages endows it with excellent catalytic activity. Herein, in the light of Fe(OH)3-induced biomimetic nanozyme catalyzed reactions, a self-tuning dual-mode fluorescence and colorimetric immunoassay was successfully constructed for ochratoxin A (OTA) detection. For the colorimetric signal, 2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt (ABTS) can be oxidized by Fe(OH)3 nanocages to form a color response that can be preliminarily identified by the human eye. For the fluorescence signal, the fluorescence intensity of 4-chloro-1-naphthol (4-CN) can be quantitatively quenched by the valence transition of Ferric ion in Fe(OH)3 nanocages. Due to the significant self-calibration, the performance of the self-tuning strategy for OTA detection was substantially enhanced. Under the optimized conditions, the developed dual-mode platform accomplishes a wide range of 1 ng/L to 5 μg/L with a detection limit of 0.68 ng/L (S/N = 3). This work not only develops a facile strategy for the synthesis of highly active peroxidase-like nanozyme but also achieves promising sensing platform for OTA detection in actual samples.
