Abstract
PURPOSE Our objective was to determine characteristics of electrocardiograms (ECG) that predict ventricular fibrillation (VF) among prehospital patients with suspected ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) in Québec. METHODS We performed a matched case-control study of prehospital adult suspected with STEMI. Patients in case group (STEMI/VF+) were matched with controls (STEMI/VF-) for age and sex and then compared for ECG characteristics, including ST-segment elevations (STE) and depressions (STD), duration of interval complexes, general characteristics, and several calculated variables. Logistic regression was used to measure the association between ECG characteristics and VF development. RESULTS Overall, 310 prehospital patients with suspected STEMI were included in the analysis (case group, n = 155; control group, n = 155). We confirmed that the presence of TW-pattern complex (OR 7.0, 95% CI 1.55-31.58), premature ventricular contraction (PVC) (OR 5.5, 95% CI 2.04-14.82), and STE in V2-V6 (OR 3.8, 95% CI 1.21-11.74) were electrocardiographic predictors of VF. We also observed that STD in V3-V5 (OR 6.5, 95% CI 1.42-29.39), atrial fibrillation (AF) ≥ 100 beats per minute (bpm) (OR 6.3, 95% CI 1.80-21.90), the combination of STE in V4 and V5, and STD in II, III and aVF (OR 4.8, 95% CI 1.01-22.35), and the presence of STD in ≥ 6 leads (OR 4.2, 95% CI 1.33-13.13) were also associated with VF development. Finally, simultaneous association of 2 (OR 2.3, 95% CI 1.13-4.06) and 3 (OR 11.6, 95% CI 3.22-41.66) predictors showed significant association with VF. CONCLUSIONS In addition to some already known predictors, we have identified several ECG findings associated with the development of VF in patients with suspected STEMI. Early identification of patients with STEMI at increased risk of VF should help EMS providers anticipate adverse events and encourage use of defibrillation pads.

Abstract
BACKGROUND ST-segment elevation (STE) represents a repolarization dispersion marker underlying arrhythmogenesis in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI); however, its value for predicting malignant ventricular arrhythmia events (MVAEs) remains uncertain. METHODS In total, 285 patients with STEMI and those with or without MVAEs who presented within 6 h of symptom onset were enrolled. The relationships between STE and clinical characteristics of MVAEs (defined as ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation) were analyzed using t-test, chi-square test, binary multivariate logistic regression, and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis. RESULTS Patients with STEMI and MVAEs had a shorter time from symptom onset to balloon time (p = 0.0285) and greater STE (p < 0.01) than those without MVAEs. The symptom-to-balloon time, age, and STE were associated with MVAEs after stepwise regression analysis in all cases. Only STE was significantly associated with the occurrence of MVAEs (all, p < 0.01). The area under the curve (AUC) of STE for predicting MVAEs was 0.905, and the cut-off value was 4.5 mV. When only infarct-related arteries were included in the analysis, the AUC of the left anterior descending artery was 0.925 with a cut-off value of 4.5 mV, that of the right coronary artery was 0.915 with a cut-off value of 4.5 mV, and that of the left circumflex artery was 0.929 with a cut-off value of 4.0 mV. CONCLUSIONS In patients with STEMI presenting within 6 h of symptom onset, age, symptom-to-balloon time, and STE were the main predictors for MVAEs. However, among these, STE was the strongest predictor for MVAEs and was an index for repolarization dispersion of cardiomyocytes in infarcted and non-infarcted areas.

Prognostic value of early sustained ventricular arrhythmias in ST-elevation myocardial infarction treated by primary percutaneous coronary intervention: a sub-study of VALIDATE-SWEDEHEART trial. Abstract
Background Prognostic assessment of ventricular tachycardia (VT) or ventricular fibrillation (VF) in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is based mainly on distinguishing between early (<48 hours) and late arrhythmias, and does not take into account its time distribution with regard to reperfusion, or type of arrhythmia. Objective We analyzed the prognostic value of early ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) in STEMI with regard to their type and timing. Methods The prespecified analysis of the multicenter prospective Bivalirudin versus Heparin in ST-Segment and Non-ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarctionin Patients on Modern Antiplatelet Therapy in the Swedish Web System for Enhancement and Development of Evidence-based Care in Heart Disease evaluated according to Recommended Therapies Registry Trial included 2886 STEMI patients undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). VA episodes were characterized regarding their type and timing. Survival status at 180 days was assessed through the population registry. Results Nonmonomorphic VT or VF was observed in 97 (3.4%) and monomorphic VT in 16 (0.5%) patients. Only 3 (2.7%) early VA episodes occurred after 24 hours from symptom onset. VA was associated with higher risk of death (hazard ratio 3.59; 95% confidence interval [CI] 2.01-6.42) after adjustment for age, sex, and STEMI localization. VA after PCI was associated with an increased mortality compared with VA before PCI (hazard ratio 6.68; 95% CI 2.90-15.41). Early VA was associated with in-hospital mortality (odds ratio 7.39; 95% CI 3.68-14.83) but not with long-term prognosis in patients discharged alive. The type of VA was not associated with mortality. Conclusion VA after PCI was associated with an increased mortality compared with VA before PCI. Long-term prognosis did not differ between patients with monomorphic VT and nonmonomorphic VT or VF, but events were few. VA incidence during 24 to 48 hours of STEMI is negligibly low, thus precluding assessment of its prognostic importance.

Abstract
Takotsubo syndrome and myocardial infarction can present with ST segment elevation. ECG in Takotsubo resembles left anterior descending artery myocardial infarction. Ventricular arrhythmia or death occur in both Takotsubo and myocardial infarction. ST segment changes predict ventricular arrhythmia or death in myocardial infarction. ST segment changes do not predict ventricular arrhythmia in Takotsubo syndrome.
Background Previous studies comparing electrocardiogram (ECG) in Takotsubo syndrome (TS) versus ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) included TS patients without ST elevation, did not consider the culprit lesion in STEMI or had groups that were unbalanced regarding sex and age. Accounting for these factors, we sought to conduct a more reliable comparison of ECG in TS with ST-elevation (STE-TS) versus STEMI. The secondary aim was to investigate if ST segment changes, T wave inversion or prolonged QT interval predicted ventricular arrhythmia or death in STE-TS and STEMI. Methods All STE-TS patients who presented at Sahlgrenska University Hospital between 2008 and 2019 were matched by sex and age to STEMI patients. STEMI patients were subcategorized according to whether or not the culprit lesion was located in the left anterior descending artery (LAD). Baseline characteristics, in‐hospital outcomes and admission ECGs were analyzed. Results 104 STE-TS patients were sex- and age-matched with 274 STEMI patients (113 LAD-STEMI, 161 non-LAD STEMI). Admission ECG in STE-TS was more similar to LAD STEMI than non-LAD STEMI. Reciprocal ST depression was less common in STE-TS (7/104, 6.7%) compared with STEMI (112/274, 41%; p= < 0.001). The sum of all ST elevations and the sum of all ST-deviations predicted life-threatening ventricular arrhythmia (LTVA) or death in LAD STEMI but not in STE-TS. Conclusions In conclusion, admission ECG in STE-TS was similar to LAD STEMI but reciprocal ST depression was less common in STE-TS compared with STEMI overall. ST segment changes predicted LTVA or death in STEMI but not in STE-TS.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION A reliable electrocardiographic predictor of ventricular fibrillation (VF) in patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is lacking so far. Previous experimental/simulation study suggested a terminal T-wave inversion (TTWI) in ischemia-related ECG leads corresponding to anterior infarct localization as an independent predictor of reperfusion VF (rVF). This T-wave characteristic has never been tested as a rVF predictor in clinical settings. The aim of this study was to test if terminal T-wave inversion (TTWI) at admission ECG (before reperfusion) can serve as a predictor of ventricular fibrillation during reperfusion (rVF) in patients with anterior STEMI undergoing primary PCI. METHODS AND RESULTS Study population included consecutive patients with anterior infarct localization admitted for primary PCI (n = 181, age 65 [57; 76] years, 66% male). Of those, 14 patients had rVF (rVF group, age 59 [47; 76] years, 64% male) and patients without rVF comprised the No-rVF group (n = 167, age 65 [57; 76] years, 66% male). Association of TTWI with rVF was analyzed using logistic regression analysis adjusted for relevant clinical and electrocardiographic covariates. The prevalence of TTWI in rVF group was 62% comparing to 23% in the No-rVF group, p = 0.005. TTWI was associated with increased risk of rVF (OR 5.51; 95% CI 1.70-17.89; p = 0.004) and remained a significant predictor after adjustment for age, gender, history of MI prior to index admission, VF before reperfusion, Tpeak-Tend, maximal ST elevation, and QRS duration (OR 23.49; 95% CI 3.14-175.91; p = 0.002). CONCLUSIONS The terminal T-wave inversion in anterior leads before PCI independently predicted rVF in patients with anterior MI thus confirming the previous experimental/simulation findings.

Abstract
Background Early identification of the occurrence of arrhythmia in patients with acute myocardial infarction plays an essential role in clinical decision-making. The present study attempted to use machine learning (ML) methods to build predictive models of arrhythmia after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Methods A total of 2084 patients with acute myocardial infarction were enrolled in this study. (All data is available on Github: https://github.com/wangsuhuai/AMI-database1.git). The primary outcome is whether tachyarrhythmia occurred during admission containing atrial arrhythmia, ventricular arrhythmia, and supraventricular tachycardia. All data is randomly divided into a training set (80%) and an internal testing set (20%). Apply three machine learning algorithms: decision tree, random forest (RF), and artificial neural network (ANN) to learn the training set to build a model, then use the testing set to evaluate the prediction performance, and compare it with the model built by the Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE) risk variable set. Results Three ML models predict the occurrence of tachyarrhythmias after AMI. After variable selection, the artificial neural network (ANN) model has reached the highest accuracy rate, which is better than the model constructed using the Grace variable set. After applying SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) to make the model interpretable, the most important features are abnormal wall motion, lesion location, bundle branch block, age, and heart rate. Among them, RBBB (odds ratio [OR]: 4.21; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 2.42–7.02), ≥ 2 ventricular walls motion abnormal (OR: 3.26; 95% CI: 2.01–4.36) and right coronary artery occlusion (OR: 3.00; 95% CI: 1.98–4.56) are significant factors related to arrhythmia after AMI. Conclusions We used advanced machine learning methods to build prediction models for tachyarrhythmia after AMI for the first time (especially the ANN model that has the best performance). The current study can supplement the current AMI risk score, provide a reliable evaluation method for the clinic, and broaden the new horizons of ML and clinical research. Abstract
Aims: The restoration of coronary circulation plays a crucial role in treating ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), however successful reperfusion with primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) may induce life-threatening arrhythmias. The relation between myocardial electrical instability, as a background factor in reperfusion arrhythmia, and magnesium administered periprocedurally is still questionable. Several randomized clinical trials have been conducted predominantly in the thrombolysis era. Due to the contradictory results of these studies, there is little evidence of the potential preventive effect of magnesium on reperfusion arrhythmias. The aim of our study is to review and meta-analytically analyze data from all studies published so far in the PPCI era, comparing STEMI patients who have undergone primary PCI and received either magnesium or a placebo before the reperfusion procedure. Methods and Results: Our meta-analysis follows the points in the PRISMA protocol and, meets all of their criteria. We conducted a search in five scientific databases using the following keyword combination: (myocardial infarction OR myocardial injury OR acute coronary syndrome OR acs OR stemi) AND magnesium. The 7,295 collected publications were filtered with the Endnote program by title, abstract and full-text based on predefined criteria. A statistical analysis was performed on three randomized-controlled trials using three common parameters, involving 336 patients Trial sequential analysis (TSA) was applied to assess the risk of random error associated with sparse data and multiple testing which can affect cumulative meta-analysis. The incidence of ventricular tachycardias (VTs) was not significantly increased in the non-magnesium control group. (OR: 1.36; CI: 0.619; -2.986, P = 0.263). For the ejection fraction (EF), a non-significant decrease was observed in the magnesium group by weighted mean difference calculation. (WMD: 7.262, 95% CI: -0.238; 0.053; P = 0.057). There was significant decrease in the infarct zone wall motion index (IZWMSI) in the magnesium treatment group. (WMD: 0.384, 95% CI: -0.042; 0.811, P = 0.015). Based on the TSA assessments, the results of all parameters are not significant, objectively demonstrating the lack of reasonable data pertaining to our question. Conclusions: The preventive effect of magnesium on reperfusion arrhythmia associated with primary PCI can still be considered contradictory based on previous studies. In our study, we found, that magnesium is ineffective with a very weak evidence, due to the small number of patients and the biases of the included studies, and a well-designed clinical trial is needed in this area, based on the TSA.

Abstract
Despite major therapeutic advances over the last decades, complex supraventricular and ventricular arrhythmias (VAs), particularly in the emergency setting or during revascularization for acute myocardial infarction (AMI), remain an important clinical problem. Although the incidence of VAs has declined in the hospital phase of acute coronary syndromes (ACS), mainly due to prompt revascularization and optimal medical therapy, still up to 6% patients with ACS develop ventricular tachycardia and/or ventricular fibrillation within the first hours of ACS symptoms. Despite sustained VAs being perceived predictors of worse in-hospital outcomes, specific associations between the type of VAs, arrhythmia timing, applied treatment strategies and long-term prognosis in AMI are vague. Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common supraventricular tachyarrhythmia that may be asymptomatic and/or may be associated with rapid haemodynamic deterioration requiring immediate treatment. It is estimated that over 20% AMI patients may have a history of AF, whereas the new-onset arrhythmia may occur in 5% patients with ST elevation myocardial infarction. Importantly, patients who were treated with primary percutaneous coronary intervention for AMI and developed AF have higher rates of adverse events and mortality compared with subjects free of arrhythmia. The scope of this position document is to cover the clinical implications and pharmacological/non-pharmacological management of arrhythmias in emergency presentations and during revascularization. Current evidence for clinical relevance of specific types of VAs complicating AMI in relation to arrhythmia timing has been discussed.

Abstract
AIMS Important controversies remain concerning the determinants of life-threatening arrhythmias during ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) and their impact on late adverse events. This study sought to investigate which factors might facilitate ventricular tachycardia (VT) and ventricular fibrillation (VF), in a homogeneous population of anterior STEMI patients defined by abrupt left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) occlusion and no collateral flow. METHODS AND RESULTS The 967 patients, who entered into the CIRCUS (Does Cyclosporine ImpRove Clinical oUtcome in ST elevation myocardial infarction patients) study, were assessed for further analysis. Acute VT/VF was defined as VT (run of tachycardia >30 s either self-terminated or requiring electrical/pharmacological cardioversion) or VF documented by electrocardiogram or cardiac monitoring, during transportation to the cathlab or initial hospitalization. VT/VF was documented in 136 patients (14.1%). Patients with VT/VF were younger and had shorter time from symptom onset to hospital arrival. Site of LAD occlusion, thrombus burden, area at risk, pre-percutaneous coronary intervention Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction flow, and ST-segment resolution were similar to that of patients without VT/VF. There was no impact of VT/VF on left ventricular remodelling or clinical outcomes. By multivariate analysis, the use of morphine (odds ratio 1.71; 95% confidence interval (1.13-2.60); P = 0.012) was the sole independent predictor of VT/VF occurrence. CONCLUSIONS In STEMI patients with LAD occlusion, our findings support the view that morphine could favour severe ventricular arrhythmias.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES The primary aim of the study was to evaluate risk factors for ventricular fibrillation/sustained ventricular tachycardia (VF/VT) and to develop the risk score for prediction of VF/VT in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) treated invasively. The secondary aim was to assess the effect of VF/VT on mortality depending on timing of arrhythmia. PATIENTS AND METHODS We analyzed 4363 consecutive patients with STEMI treated invasively. Among them, 163 patients with pre-reperfusion arrhythmia were excluded from the study. Group ventricular arrhythmias (VA) encompassed patients with VF/VT - those with reperfusion-induced arrhythmia were included into group VA1, whereas group VA2 consisted of patients with postreperfusion arrhythmia. The control group comprised patients free of VF/VT. RESULTS VF or VT occurred in 313 (7.45%) patients - group VA1 encompassed 103 (32.9%) and group AV2 210 (67.1%) patients. Cardiogenic shock on admission [hazard ratio (HR) 3.5], new-onset atrial fibrillation (HR 2.1), incomplete revascularization (HR 1.7), prior myocardial infarction (HR 1.6) and symptom-to-balloon time more than 3 h (HR 1.3) were the independent predictors of VF/VT occurrence. In group VA2, the in-hospital and long-term mortality were 4- and 1.5-fold higher than in the arrhythmia-free population (20.5 vs. 4.5% and 36.2 vs. 22.6%, respectively; P<0.001). On the contrary, in group VA1, the long-term mortality was not significantly higher compared with the control group (26.2 vs. 22.6%; P=NS), whereas in-hospital mortality was almost three-fold increased (12.5 vs. 4.5%, respectively; P<0.001). CONCLUSION The risk score based on simple clinical parameters might be useful for risk stratification for VF/VT in patients with STEMI. The predictive value of VF/VT was strongly dependent on timing of arrhythmia.

Abstract
Ventricular tachycardia/ventricular fibrillation (VT/VF) is a kind of malignant arrhythmia in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients who received primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI). However, there are no risk assessment tools to anticipate the occurrence of VT/VF.This study is to build a risk assessment model to predict the possibility of VT/VF onset in STEMI patients undergoing PPCI.A retrospective study was conducted to analyze the patients who underwent PPCI from January 2006 to May 2015. Subjects were divided into VT/VF group and no VT/VF group based on whether VT/VF had occurred or not. In addition, the VT/VF group was further separated into early-onset group (from the time that symptoms began to before the end of PPCI) and late-onset group (after the end of PPCI) based on the timing of when VT/VF happened. Multivariate regression analysis was carried out to distinguish the independent risk factors of VT/VF and an additional statistical method was executed to build the risk assessment model.A total of 607 patients were enrolled in this study. Of these patients, 67 cases (11%) experienced VT/VF. In addition, 91% (61) of patients experienced VT/VF within 48 h from the time that the symptoms emerged. Independent risk factors include: age, diabetes mellitus, heart rate, ST-segment maximum elevation, ST-segment total elevation, serum potassium, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), culprit artery was right coronary artery, left main (LM) stenosis, Killip class > I class, and pre-procedure thrombolysis in myocardial infarction (TIMI) flow zero grade. Risk score model and risk rank model have been established to evaluate the possibility of VT/VF. Class I: ≤ 4 points; Class II: > 4 points, ≤ 5.5 points; Class III: > 5.5 points, < 6.5 points; and Class IV ≥ 6.5 points. The higher the class, the higher the risk.The incidence of VT/VF in STEMI patients undergoing PPCI is 11% and it occurs more frequently from the time that symptoms begin to before the end of PPCI, which, in most cases, occurs within 48 h of the event. Our risk assessment model could predict the possible occurrence of VT/VF.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES An acute coronary occlusion and its possible subsequent complications is one of the most common causes of death. One such complication is ventricular fibrillation (VF) due to myocardial ischemia. The severity of ischemia is related to the amount of coronary arterial collateral flow. In dog studies collateral flow has also been shown to be associated with QRS prolongation. The aim of this study was to investigate whether ischemic QRS prolongation (IQP) is associated with impending VF in an experimental acute ischemia dog model. METHODS Degree of IQP and occurrence of VF were measured in dogs (n = 21) during coronary occlusion for 15 min and also during subsequent reperfusion (experiments conducted in 1984). RESULTS There was a significant difference in absolute IQP between dogs which developed VF during reperfusion (47 ± 29 ms, mean ± SD) and those which did not (12 ± 10 ms; p = .001). CONCLUSIONS IQP during acute coronary occlusion is associated with reperfusion VF in an experimental dog model and might therefore be a potential predictor of malignant arrhythmias in patients with acute coronary syndrome.

Abstract
The aim of the study was to assess the clinical significance of complex ventricular arrhythmias (VAs) (sustained ventricular tachycardia [sVT] and ventricular fibrillation [VF]) in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) depending on timing of arrhythmia. We analyzed 4,363 consecutive patients with STEMI treated invasively between 2004 and 2014. The median follow-up was 69.6 months (range: 0 to 139.8 months). The study population was divided into 2 main groups; VA group encompassed 476 patients (10.91%) with VAs, whereas 3,887 subjects (89.09%) without VT or VF were included into the control group. In VA population, prereperfusion VA (34.24%; n = 163) was the most common arrhythmia, whereas reperfusion-induced, early postreperfusion, and late postreperfusion VAs were diagnosed in 103 (21.64%), 103 (21.64%), and 107 (22.48%) patients, respectively. Every type of sVT or VF complicating STEMI portended significantly worse in-hospital prognosis, however a late onset arrhythmia was associated with the highest (over fivefold) and reperfusion-induced VA with the lowest (less than threefold) increase in mortality risk compared with the control group. On the contrary, long-term mortality was significantly increased only in subjects with late postreperfusion and prereperfusion VAs compared with VA-free population (43.93% and 36.81%, respectively vs 22.58%; p <0.001). Apart from cardiogenic shock on admission, late postreperfusion (hazard ratio 3.39) and prereperfusion VAs (hazard ratio 2.76) were the strongest independent predictors of death in the analyzed population. In conclusion, 1 in 10 patients with STEMI treated invasively was affected by sVT or VF. The clinical impact of VAs was strongly dependent on timing of arrhythmia.

Abstract
More than 100 years after it was first invented, the 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) continues to occupy an important place in the diagnostic armamentarium of the practicing clinician. With the recognition of relatively rare but important clinical entities such as Wolff-Parkinson-White and the long QT syndrome, this clinical tool was firmly established as a test for assessing risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD). However, over the past two decades the role of the ECG in risk prediction for common forms of SCD, for example in patients with coronary artery disease, has been the focus of considerable investigation. Especially in light of the limitations of current risk stratification approaches, there is a renewed focus on this broadly available and relatively inexpensive test. Various abnormalities of depolarization and repolarization on the ECG have been linked to SCD risk; however, more focused work is needed before they can be deployed in the clinical arena. The present review summarizes the current knowledge on various ECG risk markers for prediction of SCD and discusses some future directions in this field.

Abstract
Background Resuscitation after cardiac arrest (CA) in the catheterization laboratory (cath-lab) using mechanical chest compressions (CC) during simultaneous percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is a strong recommendation in the 2015 European Resuscitation Council (ERC) guidelines. This study aimed at re-evaluating survival to hospital discharge and assess long term outcome in this patient population. Methods Patients presenting at the cath lab with spontaneous circulation, suffering CA and requiring prolonged mechanical CC during cath lab procedures between 2009 and 2013 were included. Circumstances leading to CA, resuscitation parameters and outcomes were evaluated within this cohort. For comparison, patients needing prolonged manual CC in the cath lab in the pre-mechanical CC era were evaluated. Six-month and one year survival with a mechanical CC treatment strategy from 2004 to 2013 was also evaluated. Results Thirty-two patients were included between 2009 and 2013 (24 ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI), 4 non-STEMI, 2 planned PCI, 1 angiogram and 1 intra-aortic counter pulsation balloon pump insertion). Twenty were in cardiogenic shock prior to inclusion. Twenty-five were successfully treated with PCI. Median mechanical CC duration for the total cohort (n = 32) was 34 min (range 5–90), for the 15 patients with circulation discharged from the cath-lab, 15 min (range 5–90), and for the eight discharged alive from hospital, 10 min (range 5–52). Twenty-five percent survived with good neurological outcome at hospital discharge. Ten patients treated with manual CC were included with one survivor. Discussion Eighty-seven percent of the patients included in the mechanical CC cohort had their coronary or cardiac intervention performed during mechanical CC with an 80 % success rate. This shows that the use of mechanical CC during an intervention does not seem to impair the interventional result substantially. The survival rate after one year was 87 %. Conclusions Among patients suffering CA treated with mechanical CC in the cath-lab, 25 % had a good neurological outcome at hospital discharge compared to 10 % treated with manual CC. Long term survival in patients discharged from hospital is good.
