Abstract
Schwannomas are slow growing, benign tumours arising from Schwann cells. They are usually solitary and are sometimes associated with Neurofibromatosis type 1 and 2. As reported by Okada et al., while approximately 25%-40% of extra-cranial schwannomas occur in the head and neck region, Schwannomas of the oral cavity are very uncommon, accounting for only 1% of all Schwannomas. We report a case of a sublingual schwannoma in a 47-year-old female, discovered incidentally during the workup for tinnitus. The radiological and histopathological findings, along with a literature review, are presented.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Schwannomas or neurilemmomas are well-encapsulated, benign, solitary, and slow-growing tumors that originate from Schwann cells of the nerve sheath. Extracranial schwannoma is reported to have a relatively high incidence in the tongue while an extremely low incidence in the floor of mouth. In the current study, we presented the first case series of hypoglossal nerve-derived schwannoma in the floor of mouth in Asia. METHODS A retrospective study of 9 surgical cases of hypoglossal nerve-derived schwannoma in the floor of mouth was performed. The patient and tumor characteristics were evaluated by physical, radiological and pathological examination. Details of operation and complications were also recorded. RESULTS Hypoglossal nerve-derived schwannoma in the floor of mouth showed a well-defined boundary with a firm texture, smooth surface and good mobility on palpation. The median maximum diameter of the tumors was 4.3 cm (range 2.8-7.0 cm). The median operative time and bleeding volumes were 89.4 min (range 47-180 min) and 99.2 mL (range 15-200 mL), respectively. All cases received complete surgical excision. CONCLUSION In this study, we presented the diagnosis and management of hypoglossal nerve-derived schwannoma in the floor of mouth for the first time in Asia. The study provided us with a recommendation for consideration of the diagnosis of hypoglossal schwannoma when a patient presents with a mass in the floor of mouth.

Abstract
We report a rare case of schwannoma arising from the sublingual glandular branch of the lingual nerve radiologically masquerading as sublingual gland tumor. A 42-year-old female was referred to our department with a painless swelling in the left submandibular region. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography showed a well-circumscribed, heterogeneous low-density tumor with cystic change in the left sublingual region. Magnetic resonance imaging showed a well-circumscribed, heterogeneous sublingual tumor with low-signal intensity on T1-weighted image and high-signal intensity in T2-weighted image. The lesion was diagnosed radiologically as benign sublingual gland tumor. The patient underwent resection of sublingual gland tumor under general anesthesia. There was no definitive continuity between the tumor and the sublingual gland, and the tumor originated from sublingual glandular branch of the lingual nerve. Pathological examination of the specimen showed schwannoma with highly cellular areas (Antoni A) and hypocellular areas (Antoni B). The postoperative course was uneventful without lingual nerve palsy, and there was no recurrence 4 years after surgery.

Abstract
Submandibular gland tumours, especially mesenchymal tumours, are extremely rare. Schwannoma of the salivary gland is a particularly rare form of an extracranial neurogenic tumor, of which ancient schwannoma is one of five variants. Since the first description, only a few ancient schwannomas have been reported in different locations in the head and neck region. In the submandibular gland it is very rare. This report presents a case of 26 year old male patient with an ancient schwannoma of the submandibular gland seems to be arising from parasympathetic fibers.

Abstract
Pleomorphic adenoma, the most common benign nonvascular tumor of the parotid gland in juveniles, should be differentiated from other extremely rare tumors, including schwannoma. In this article, we present a rare case of an intraparotid schwannoma in a juvenile, along with the patient history, a description of pathological features, and the results of ultrastructural and immunohistochemical examination. The respective labeling indexes of Ki-67 and MCM-3, i.e., the mean proportions of positive tumor cells out of 1000 tumoral cells counted in 10 microscopic fields at ×400 magnification, given as a percentage, were found to be 0.82% and 0.4%, respectively.

Abstract
Primary salivary gland peripheral nerve sheath tumors (PNST) are uncommon. This study is a retrospective, clinicopathologic review of 9 cases of PNST (5 neurofibromas, 3 schwannomas and 1 malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST)) arising from the salivary glands, encountered between 1990 and 2015. All patients with neurofibromas were male (ages 1-62 years) and had a single parotid lesion of which 2 were diffuse, 2 plexiform and one mixed diffuse/plexiform. Four had a history of neurofibromatosis I. Four of 5 presented with symptoms related to mass effect including facial swelling, facial drooping, and dysphagia. All underwent de-bulking surgery and recurred due to continued growth. Of the 3 patients with schwannomas, 1 was male and 2 were female (ages 19, 44 and 56 years). One tumor each arose in the sublingual, submandibular, and parotid glands. Two of 3 presented with soreness and swelling local to the affected gland, especially while chewing. There was no recurrence of these tumors after resection. An MPNST in a male presented as a tender mass in the patient's left parotid; the tumor was resected. There was no evidence of tumor elsewhere in the body. The tumor did not recur in 12 years of follow-up. The most common tumor type in the current series was neurofibroma; most arose in the background of neurofibromatosis type I and all of which recurred after initial subtotal resection. Most PNST arose in the parotid gland.

Abstract
Intraoral schwannoma is a rare entity. Tongue has been reported as the most common oral site. Those involving salivary glands are unusual and parotid gland is the usual site. Literature search revealed only one case of schwannoma involving the sublingual gland. Hence, this is a presentation of another case of sublingual gland schwannoma with a review of literature, in a young female of 21 years old.

Abstract
Introduction: Schwannomas are benign and not very frequent tumors of the peripheral nerves, derived from the nerve supporting Schwann cells.
Study Design: Data were collected on the clinical manifestations (sex, age), location, size and symptonts of the lesions as well as the evolution time and the initial (presumption) diagnosis.
Results: Twelve patients were documented, with a mean age of 29,5 ± 12,1 years (range 16-50) and a balanced gender distribution. The mean duration of the lesions was 42,17± 45,3 months. The lesion located in the floor of the mouth was the largest tumor, measuring about 4 cm in maximum diameter, while the average size of the 12 schwannomas was 2.04± 1.1 cm.
Conclusion: We present 12 oral schwannomas diagnosed and treated over a period of 10 years.

Abstract
An upper lip swelling can be attributed to multiple etiologies. The clinical presentation and differential diagnosis of an upper lip swelling is described. Histologic examination revealed the presence of a Schwannoma. This rare entity in the upper lip must be considered by the clinician during the evaluation of an upper lip swelling.
