Abstract
Background We designed a telerehabilitation (TR) program for stroke patients based on reports from other countries and adapted the program for use by individual patients. Herein, we describe the clinical courses of three stroke survivors who used the TR program. Cases All three individuals were community-dwelling chronic stroke survivors. Patient 1 (P1) was a 50-year-old man who presented with severe paralysis of the right upper and lower extremities caused by left cerebral hemorrhage. Patient 2 (P2) was a 56-year-old woman who presented with severe paralysis of the left upper and lower extremities caused by right cerebral hemorrhage. Patient 3 (P3) was a 55-year-old man who presented with severe paralysis of the left upper and lower extremities caused by right cerebral hemorrhage. The TR program was conducted through a web conference system that allowed therapists and patients to interact with each other. The intervention consisted of 30-min sessions every 2 weeks for 6 months. The clinical courses and outcomes of the patients differed, but we identified positive changes in physical activity (number of steps) and participation (expansion of life-space) in addition to improvements in functional impairments (e.g., motor paralysis and balance order) in each patient. All three patients were highly satisfied with the TR program. Discussion The results observed in this case series suggest that TR programs are a viable intervention in Japan. TR programs can reduce barriers to continued rehabilitation after discharge and can encourage increased activity and participation.

Abstract
Physical functioning can be increased in people with stroke by using a mobile health application. This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of a 10-week community-based program using the WalkWithMe (WWM) application in people with late sub-acute and chronic stroke in Benin. An interventional pilot study with mixed methods research design was used examining the application of an unsupervised individualized mobile Health (mHealth) instructed training program. Main outcome included the application usage, safety, adherence, perceived enjoyment, mHealth quality, patient experiences and pre-post efficacy measures. Nine adults, five males, median age of 60 years and time since stroke of 12 months participated in this study. For most participants adherence with the application was over 70%. However, some usability problems were observed due to incorrect understanding and use by participants and technical problems. The application was very fun, stimulating and enjoyable. Significant improvements were found with median (pre/post measures) of locomotors skill (1.4/3.4); impairments (38/40), Barthel Index (85/95), activity limitation (2.1/3.1), and quality of life (194/218). A trend towards significant improvement was found with 6 minutes walking test (181/220, p = 0.06). The WWM application is perceived as a potential approach to increase physical activity and functioning among people with stroke in Benin.

Abstract
PURPOSE To develop an instruction manual to administer the Motor Assessment Scale (MAS) via videoconferencing (Tele-MAS), investigate its validity, reliability and measurement error. MATERIALS AND METHODS In-person assessment, conducted at the participant's home, was compared to remote assessment conducted by rater A. Then, within two days, the rater B, repeat the remote assessment (n = 41). Part of the sample (n = 10) was assessed again within seven days by rater A to determine test-retest reliability. Concurrent validity, agreement of alternate forms (in-person x remote) for total score and reliability of individual items were analyzed using respectively the Pearson correlation coefficient, Bland-Altman plots and weighted Kappa (Kw). Interrater and test-retest reliability were analyzed by Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC). Standard Error of Measurement (SEM) and Minimal detectable changes (MDC) were computed. RESULTS The Tele-MAS instruction manual was developed. In-person MAS and Tele-MAS present a high positive correlation (r = 0.97). Bland-Altman plots showed adequate agreement (MD=-0.0 point). Most Individual items showed excellent reliability (Kw > 0.70). Tele-MAS showed excellent interrater (ICC(2,1)=0.92) and test-retest (ICC(3,1)=0.98) reliability. Tele-MAS presents a SEM = 3% and MDC = 8%. CONCLUSION The Tele-MAS is a valid and reliable global motor assessment scale to be applied in individuals after stroke.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This meta-analysis introduces tele-medicine in time-sensitive conditions like stroke and the challenges hindering at-home rehabilitation. It aims to consolidate evidence supporting telerehabilitation effectiveness in post-stroke patients, with a focus on ADL, balance, mobility, and motor control. METHODS We conducted a meta-analysis using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) 2020 guidelines. A comprehensive search of PubMed, Google Scholar, and Cochrane central databases was conducted. Inclusion criteria involved studies that employed randomized controlled trial (RCT) designs, specifically evaluating various telerehabilitation models in patients diagnosed with a stroke, excluding those with mixed etiology and non-randomized or single-arm designs. Two independent reviewers assessed study quality and bias using Cochrane Risk of Bias 2 before inclusion. RESULTS We included 10 studies (n = 417) with a predominantly male sample (n = 196). The mean age of the pooled sample of 8 studies was 64.87 (13.01) years. Our meta-analysis showed that telerehabilitation may have modest effects on Berg Balance Scale (SMD 0.08 [-0.23; 0.40]; p = 0.54), and trunk impairment scale (SMD 0.26 [-1.00; 1.52]; p = 0.05), slightly inferior effects on Barthel index (SMD -0.34 [-1.00; 0.32]; p = 0.31), but demonstrated a favorable impact on trunk impairment (SMD -0.21 [-1.18; 0.76]; p = 0.02). CONCLUSION We found that telerehabilitation may have modest effects on balance and mobility, and slightly inferior results in Activities of daily living but may have a positive effect on trunk impairment. However, more studies with larger cohorts are needed to confirm our results.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most prevalent chronic conditions in Canada. Despite the established benefits of non-pharmacological management (education, exercise) for people with OA, many do not receive treatment, resulting in pain, decreased physical function, and poorer quality of life. Virtual programme options grew significantly during the recent pandemic and may provide longer-term opportunities for increased uptake by reaching individuals otherwise unable to participate. This study explored the experiences and perspectives of clients participating in and clinicians providing the Good Life with osteoArthritis: Denmark (GLA:DTM) Canada remote programme. METHODS This qualitative descriptive study recruited 10 clients with hip and/or knee OA and 11 clinicians across Canada using purposive sampling. An online pre-interview survey was completed, and individual interviews were conducted, audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim and analysed independently by two researchers using inductive thematic analysis. Coding and analyses were initially conducted separately by group and then compared and combined. RESULTS Four overarching themes (and 11 subthemes) were identified: (1) Expected and unexpected benefits of virtual programs; (2) Drawbacks to virtual programs; (3) Programme delivery in a virtual world; (4) Shifting and non-shifting perspectives. Although initially sceptical, after completion of the programme, clients were in favour of virtual delivery with many benefits described. Clinicians' perspectives varied about feedback aimed to correct client movement patterns. CONCLUSIONS Clients and clinicians identified important experiential and procedural elements for virtual chronic disease management programs that include education and exercise. Additional work is needed to understand if the GLA:DTM remote outcomes are equivalent to the in-person programme.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is a call for gathering more evidence on the effectiveness of telerehabilitation in stroke. In particular, a previous systematic review reported substantial variability in the types of technologies used in telerehabilitation interventions. The purpose of this study will be to summarize and synthesize findings on the effects of telerehabilitation based on real-time intervention between therapist and participants for patients with stroke. METHODS AND ANALYSIS This systematic review will follow the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement. This systematic review protocol was registered in the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews (PROSPERO) on 25 May 2023 (registration number: CRD420234265527). Electronic searches will be performed in the following databases: MEDLINE, Pubmed, Web of Science, PsycINFO and CINAHL electronic databases, using a date range from inception to November 2023. We will include only randomized controlled trials for patients diagnosed with stroke who received telerehabilitation based on real-time interaction between therapist and patients. The exploration will be restricted to publications in the English language. Physical function, activities of daily living and quality of life are the outcomes. We will examine the changes of the outcomes at baseline, at the end of the intervention, and at specific time points during the follow-up after the intervention. DISCUSSION This systematic review will provide evidence regarding telerehabilitation for people with stroke.

Abstract
PURPOSE Rural-dwelling stroke survivors have unmet rehabilitation needs after returning to community-living. Virtual rehabilitation, defined as the use of technology to provide rehabilitation services from a distance, could be a viable and timely solution to address this need, especially within the COVID-19 pandemic context. There is still a minimal understanding of virtual rehabilitation delivery within rural contexts. This study sought to explore the perceptions of rural stakeholders about virtual stroke rehabilitation. METHODS Following an interpretive description approach, 17 qualitative interviews were conducted with stroke survivors (n = 5), caregivers (n = 2), clinicians (n = 7), and health administrators (n = 3), and analyzed to understand their experiences and perceptions of virtual stroke rehabilitation. RESULTS We identified three overarching themes from the participant responses (1) The Root of the (Rural) Problem considered how systemic inequities impact stroke survivors' and caregivers' access to stroke recovery services; (2) Common Benefits, Different Challenges identified the unique benefits and challenges of delivering virtual rehabilitation within rural contexts; and (3) Ingredients for Success described important considerations for implementing virtual rehabilitation. CONCLUSION Virtual rehabilitation is generally accepted by all stakeholders as a supplement to in-person services. Addressing the unique barriers faced by rural clinicians and stroke survivors is necessary to provide successful virtual rehabilitation.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the effectiveness of mobile health applications (mHealth apps) containing a physical training component on physical function and physical activity in stroke rehabilitation. MATERIALS AND METHODS A systematic literature search was conducted in three databases for studies published from inception to 12 July 2022. Clinical trials including mHealth apps with a physical training component were included using outcomes of physical function and physical activity. Quality of life was extracted as a secondary outcome. RESULTS Five RCTs, two non-RCTs, and four uncontrolled clinical trials were included with a total of 264 stroke survivors. Eleven apps were identified with a physical training component using features of gamification (six apps), exercise prescription (three apps), and physical activity (two apps). Six out of seven studies reported statistically significant improvements in physical function in favor of the experimental group, with the most robust findings for upper extremity function. For physical activity, statistically significant improvements were seen in the experimental groups. Only one study showed significant improvement in quality of life. Overall study quality was fair. CONCLUSIONS mHealth apps containing a physical training component are promising for physical function and physical activity in stroke rehabilitation. Abstract
Telehealth refers to the use of telecommunication devices and other forms of technology to provide services outside of the traditional in-person health care delivery system. Growth in the use of telehealth creates new challenges and opportunities for implementation in clinical practice. The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (AAPM&R) assembled an expert group to develop a white paper to examine telehealth innovation in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). The resultant white paper summarizes how telehealth is best used in the field of PM&R while highlighting current knowledge deficits and technological limitations. The report identifies new and transformative opportunities for PM&R to advance translational research related to telehealth and enhance patient care.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Videoconferencing has been proposed as an innovative telerehabilitation approach for stroke survivors, demand for which is growing. AIM To evaluate the efficacy of a videoconferencing intervention for stroke survivors. DESIGN Systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS We conducted a systematic review of the literature in the databases Academic Search Complete, CINAHL, Cochrane Library, EMBASE, MEDLINE, PubMed, Ovid (and its companion UpToDate), and Web of Science published from January 1, 2002, to May 27, 2021. The methodologic quality of the included studies was evaluated using version 2 of the Cochrane risk-of-bias tool. A meta-analysis using a random-effects model calculated the pooled standardised mean difference (SMD) for using a videoconferencing intervention with stroke survivors and for the ability of survivors to perform activities of daily living (ADLs) and to maintain balance. The Stata software application (version 16.0: StataCorp LP) was used for the statistical analysis. RESULTS Nine studies with 603 participants were included in the analysis. Videoconferencing interventions were observed to be effective in improving the ability of stroke survivors to carry out their ADLs (SMD: 0.57; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.13 to 1.01) and to recover their balance (SMD: 1.96; 95% CI: 1.27 to 2.66). CONCLUSIONS Stroke survivors were able effectively to improve their ADL and balancing abilities. Further studies could consider the frequency, duration, and standard protocol for videoconferencing interventions. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE This study could change the approach to patient support in future clinical practice and might constitute an alternative for improving care for stroke survivors in their homes or in long-term care facilities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Virtual reality (VR) interventions have been increasingly used in the rehabilitation of a wide range of neurological and neuropsychological dysfunctions. Findings of previous reviews showed positive and promising effects of VR-based interventions. However, they summarized findings on VR-based intervention carried out through different VR systems and tasks. OBJECTIVE We carried out a narrative review with the aim of qualitatively synthesising the results of previous studies that used specific VR systems, i.e. the Khymeia -Virtual Reality Rehabilitation System, for treatment purposes. METHODS We searched the literature in various databases (i.e. EMBASE, Web of Science, SCOPUS, PubMed and PubMed Central) for studies published until November 23, 2023. RESULTS 30 studies were selected. The VRRS was used for neuromotor rehabilitation only in 13 studies, for cognitive rehabilitation in 11 studies, and for both neuromotor and cognitive rehabilitation in six studies. The study design was heterogeneous including 15 randomised controlled trials. CONCLUSION After discussing each study according to the type of rehabilitation we concluded that the use and efficacy of VRRS rehabilitative intervention for increasing the neurological and neuropsychological functioning of patients are promising but more evidence is needed to make a comparison with conventional treatment. Future studies should also include long-term follow-up as well as cost-effectiveness analysis.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Multimodal physical therapy for mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) has been shown to improve recovery. Due to the coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, a clinical trial assessing the timing of multimodal intervention was adapted for telerehabilitation. This pilot study explored feasibility and adoption of an in-person rehabilitation program for subacute mTBI delivered through telerehabilitation. METHODS Fifty-six in-person participants-9 males; mean (SD) age 34.3 (12.2); 67 (31) days post-injury-and 17 telerehabilitation participants-8 males; age 38.3 (12.7); 61 (37) days post-injury-with subacute mTBI (between 2 and 12 weeks from injury) were enrolled. Intervention included 8, 60-minute visits over 6 weeks and included subcategories that targeted cervical spine, cardiovascular, static balance, and dynamic balance impairments. Telerehabilitation was modified to be safely performed at home with minimal equipment. Outcome measures included feasibility (the number that withdrew from the study, session attendance, home exercise program adherence, adverse events, telerehabilitation satisfaction, and progression of exercises performed), and changes in mTBI symptoms pre- and post-rehabilitation were estimated with Hedges' g effect sizes. RESULTS In-person and telerehabilitation had a similar study withdrawal rate (13% vs 12%), high session attendance (92% vs 97%), and no adverse events. The telerehabilitation group found the program easy to use (4.2/5), were satisfied with care (4.7/5), and thought it helped recovery (4.7/5). The telerehabilitation intervention was adapted by removing manual therapy and cardiovascular portions and decreasing dynamic balance exercises compared with the in-person group. The in-person group had a large effect size (-0.94) in decreases in symptoms following rehabilitation, while the telerehabilitation group had a moderate effect size (-0.73). DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSIONS Telerehabilitation may be feasible for subacute mTBI. Limited ability to address cervical spine, cardiovascular, and dynamic balance domains along with underdosage of exercise progression may explain group differences in symptom resolution.Video Abstract available for more insights from the authors (see the Video, Supplemental Digital Content 1, available at: http://links.lww.com/JNPT/A392 ).

Abstract
Background
Our study aimed to map functioning and contextual factors among community-dwelling stroke survivors after first stroke, based on the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF), and to explore if these factors differ among older-old (75 years and older), younger-old (65–74 years), and young (18–65 years) stroke survivors.
Methods
A cross-sectional population-based national survey among community-dwelling stroke survivors, 1–2 years after their first stroke. Potential participants were approached through hospital registries. The survey had 56.2% response rate. Participants (N = 114, 50% men), 27 to 94 years old (71.6±12.9 years), were categorized as: older-old (n = 51), younger-old (n = 34) and young (n = 29). They answered questions on health, functioning and contextual factors, the Stroke Impact Scale (SIS) and the Behavioural Regulation Exercise Questionnaire-2. Descriptive analysis was used, along with analysis of variance for continuous data and Fisher´s exact tests for categorical variables. TukeyHSD, was used for comparing possible age-group pairings.
Results
The responses reflected ICF´s personal and environmental factors as well as body function, activities, and participation. Comparisons between age-groups revealed that the oldest participants reported more anxiety and depression and used more walking devices and fewer smart devices than individuals in both the younger-old and young groups. In the SIS, the oldest participants had lower scores than both younger groups in the domains of activities of daily living and mobility.
Conclusion
These findings provide important information on needs and opportunities in community-based rehabilitation for first-time stroke survivors and reveal that this population has good access to smart devices which can be used in community integration. Moreover, our results support the need for analysis in subgroups of age among the heterogenous group of older individuals in this population.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The primary aim of this work was to summarize and compare the effects of active rehabilitation assisted by new technologies (virtual reality [VR], robot-assisted therapy [RAT] and telerehabilitation [TR)) on upper limb motor function and everyday living activity during the subacute and chronic phases of stroke. The secondary aims were to compare the effects of these technologies according to the intervention design (in addition to or in substitution of conventional therapy), the duration of active rehabilitation and the severity of patients' motor impairments. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION Several databases, namely PubMed, Scopus, Embase and Cochrane Library, were searched. Studies were included if they were meta-analyses with a moderate to high level of confidence (assessed with AMSTAR-2) that compared the effects of a new technology promoting active rehabilitation to that of a conventional therapy program among patients with stroke. Network meta-analyses were conducted to compare the effects of the new technologies. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS Eighteen different meta-analyses were selected and fifteen included in the quantitative analysis. In total these 15 meta-analyses were based on 189 different randomized controlled trials. VR (SMD≥0.25; P<0.05), RAT (SMD≥0.29; P≤0.29) and TR (SMD≥-0.08; P≤0.64) were found to be at least as effective as conventional therapy. During the subacute phase, RAT's greatest effect was observed for patients with severe-moderate impairments whereas VR and TR's greatest effects were observed for patients with mild impairments. During the chronic phase, the highest effects were observed for patients with mild impairments, for all studies technologies. Network meta-analyses showed that VR and RAT were both significantly superior to TR in improving motor function during the chronic phase but revealed no significant difference between VR, RAT and TR effectiveness on both motor function (during the subacute phase) and activity (during both chronic and subacute phase). CONCLUSIONS This overview provides low-to-moderate evidence that rehabilitation assisted with technologies are at least as effective as conventional therapy for patients with stroke. While VR and RAT seem to be more efficient during the subacute phase, all technologies seem to be as efficient as one another in the chronic phase.

Abstract
Background The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has required social, health, and rehabilitation organizations to implement remote physiotherapy (RP) as a part of physiotherapists’ daily practice. RP may improve access to physiotherapy as it delivers physiotherapy services to rehabilitees through information and communications technology. Even if RP has already been introduced in this century, physiotherapists’ opinion, amount of use, and form in daily practice have not been studied extensively. Objective This study aims to investigate physiotherapists’ opinions of the current state of RP in Finland. Methods A quantitative, cross-sectional, web-based questionnaire was sent to working-aged members of the Finnish Association of Physiotherapists (n=5905) in March 2021 and to physiotherapists in a private physiotherapy organization (n=620) in May 2021. The questionnaire included questions on the suitability of RP in different diseases and the current state and implementation of RP in work among physiotherapists. Results Of the 6525 physiotherapists, a total of 9.9% (n=662; n=504, 76.1% female; mean age 46.1, SD 12 years) answered the questionnaire. The mean suitability “score” (0=not suitable at all to 10=fully suitable) of RP in different disease groups varied from 3.3 (neurological diseases) to 6.1 (lung diseases). Between early 2020 (ie, just before the COVID-19 pandemic) and spring 2021, the proportion of physiotherapists who used RP increased from 33.8% (21/62) to 75.4% (46/61; P<.001) in the public sector and from 19.7% (42/213) to 76.6% (163/213; P<.001) in the private sector. However, only 11.7% (32/274) of physiotherapists reported that they spent >20% of their practice time for RP in 2021. The real-time method was the most common RP method in both groups (public sector 46/66, 69.7% vs private sector 157/219, 71.7%; P=.47). The three most commonly used technical equipments were computers/tablets (229/290, 79%), smartphones (149/290, 51.4%), and phones (voice call 51/290, 17.6%). The proportion of physiotherapists who used computers/tablets in RP was higher in the private sector than in the public sector (183/221, 82.8% vs 46/68, 67.6%; P=.01). In contrast, a higher proportion of physiotherapists in the public sector than in the private sector used phones (18/68, 26.5% vs 33/221, 14.9%; P=.04). Conclusions During the COVID-19 pandemic, physiotherapists increased their use of RP in their everyday practice, although practice time in RP was still low. When planning RP for rehabilitees, it should be considered that the suitability of RP in different diseases seems to vary in the opinion of physiotherapists. Furthermore, our results brought up important new information for developing social, health, and rehabilitation education for information and communications technologies.

Abstract
Background. Due to an increasing stroke incidence, a lack of resources to implement effective rehabilitation and a significant proportion of patients with remaining impairments after treatment, there is a rise in demand for effective and prolonged rehabilitation. Development of self-rehabilitation programs provides an opportunity to meet these increasing demands.Objective. The primary aim of this meta-analysis was to determine the effect of self-rehabilitation on motor outcomes, in comparison to conventional rehabilitation, among patients with stroke. The secondary aim was to assess the influence of trial location (continent), technology, time since stroke (acute/subacute vs chronic), dose (total training duration > vs ≤ 15 hours), and intervention design (self-rehabilitation in addition/substitution to conventional therapy) on effect of self-rehabilitation.Methods. Studies were selected if participants were adults with stroke; the intervention consisted of a self-rehabilitation program defined as a tailored program where for most of the time, the patient performed rehabilitation exercises independently; the control group received conventional therapy; outcomes included motor function and activity; and the study was a randomized controlled trial with a PEDro score ≥5.Results. Thirty-five trials were selected (2225 participants) and included in quantitative synthesis regarding motor outcomes. Trials had a median PEDro Score of 7 [6-8]. Self-rehabilitation programs were shown to be as effective as conventional therapy. Trial location, use of technology, stroke stage, and intervention design did not appear to have a significant influence on outcomes.Conclusion. This meta-analysis showed low to moderate evidence that self-rehabilitation and conventional therapy efficacy was equally valuable for post-stroke motor function and activity.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this article was to summarize the available evidence from systematic reviews on telerehabilitation in physical therapy. METHODS We searched Medline/PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Library databases. In addition, the records in PROSPERO and Epistemonikos and PEDro were consulted. Systematic reviews of different conditions, populations, and contexts-where the intervention to be evaluated is telerehabilitation by physical therapy-were included. The outcomes were clinical effectiveness depending on specific condition, functionality, quality of life, satisfaction, adherence, and safety. Data extraction and risk of bias assessment were carried out by a reviewer with non-independent verification by a second reviewer. The findings are reported qualitatively in the tables and figures. RESULTS Fifty-three systematic reviews were included, of which 17 were assessed as having low risk of bias. Fifteen reviews were on cardiorespiratory rehabilitation, 14 on musculoskeletal conditions, and 13 on neurorehabilitation. The other 11 reviews addressed other types of conditions and rehabilitation. Thirteen reviews evaluated with low risk of bias showed results in favor of telerehabilitation versus in-person rehabilitation or no rehabilitation, while 17 reported no differences between the groups. Thirty-five reviews with unclear or high risk of bias showed mixed results. CONCLUSIONS Despite the contradictory results, telerehabilitation in physical therapy could be comparable with in-person rehabilitation or better than no rehabilitation for conditions such as osteoarthritis, low-back pain, hip and knee replacement, and multiple sclerosis and also in the context of cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. It is imperative to conduct better quality clinical trials and systematic reviews. IMPACT Providing the best available evidence on the effectiveness of telerehabilitation to professionals, mainly physical therapists, will impact the decision-making process and therefore yield better clinical outcomes for patients, both in these times of the COVID-19 pandemic and in the future. The identification of research gaps will also contribute to the generation of relevant and novel research questions.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Telerehabilitation is an option that should be adapted as soon as possible to face the crisis caused by coronavirus disease 2019. An umbrella and mapping review with meta-meta-analysis (MMA) of the available scientific evidence was performed to determine whether telerehabilitation could be an effective alternative to conventional rehabilitation in physical therapist practice. METHODS A systematic review of reviews and a synthesis of the findings of all systematic evidence published to date with a visual map and a meta-meta-analysis (MMA) were performed. A systematic search was realized in Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, MEDLINE (PubMed), and Google Scholar. Two independent reviewers performed a data analysis and assessed the quality of the included reviews, assessing the risk of bias using ROBIS. RESULTS Twenty-nine articles that met the inclusion criteria were selected and divided according to the type of patient targeted for rehabilitation (patients with cardiorespiratory, musculoskeletal, and neurological conditions). The MMA regarding physical function between telerehabilitation and usual care rehabilitation did not reveal a statistically significant difference for patients with cardiorespiratory and musculoskeletal conditions. For patients with neurological conditions, the MMA revealed a statistically significant but negligible effect size in 6 reviews in favor of telerehabilitation (standardized mean difference = 0.18; 95% CI = 0.03-0.34). CONCLUSION The results of the present review showed that telerehabilitation offers positive clinical results, even comparable to conventional face-to-face rehabilitation approaches. IMPACT The advantages of lower cost and less interference by the rehabilitation processes in patients' daily life could justify implementing telerehabilitation in clinical settings in the coronavirus disease 2019 era.

Abstract
Telerehabilitation is now a mainstay in health care delivery, with recent trends pointed to continued expansion in the future. Physical therapy (PT) being provided via telehealth, also known as virtual PT, has been demonstrated to provide functional improvements and satisfaction for the consumer and provider, and is applicable in various physical therapy treatment diagnostic areas. Research and technology enhancements will continue to offer new and innovative means to provide physical therapy. This article further provides points to make virtual PT successful and highlights some recommended equipment and outcome recommendations. The future is bright for providing virtual PT.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To determine the effects of exergaming on quality of life (QoL), motor, and clinical symptoms in subacute stroke patients. DESIGN A pseudorandomized controlled trial, using a before-after test design. SETTING University hospital. PARTICIPANTS Subacute, ischemic stroke outpatients (N=3857), 680 of whom were randomized and 641 completed the study. INTERVENTIONS We determined the effects of 5 times a week twice daily (EX2; 50 sessions; n=286) and once daily (EX1; 25 sessions; n=272) exergaming and low-intensity standard care (control [CON]; 25 sessions; n=83) on clinical, mobility, blood pressure (BP), and QoL outcomes. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES The primary outcome was Modified Rankin Scale. Secondary outcomes were activities of daily living, 5 aspects of health-related QoL, Beck Depression Inventory, 6-minute walk test (6MWT), Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and static balance (center of pressure). RESULTS During exercise, the peak heart rate was 134, 134, and 126 beats per minute in the EX2, EX1, and CON groups, respectively. mRS improved similarly in the EX2 (-1.8; effect size, d=-4.0) and EX1 (-1.4; d=-2.6) groups, but more than in the CON group (-0.7; d=-0.6). QoL, Barthel Index, BBS, 6MWT, and standing posturography improved more in the EX2 group and the same in the EX1 and CON groups. Systolic and diastolic resting BP decreased more in the EX2 and EX1 groups than in the CON group. The intervention effects did not differ between men (n=349) and women (n=292). CONCLUSIONS Twice daily compared with once daily high-intensity exergaming or once daily lower intensity standard care produced superior effects on clinical and motor symptoms, BP, and QoL in male and female subacute ischemic stroke participants.

Abstract
Rehabilitation of the upper limb is an important aspect of the therapy for people affected by neuromotor diseases for the recovery of the capability to perform activities of daily living (ADLs). Nonetheless, the costs associated with the administration of rehabilitation therapy and the increasing number of patients highlight the need for new solutions. Technology-based solutions and, in particular, telerehabilitation could strongly impact in this field. In this paper, a new system based on radiofrequency (RF) technology is presented which is able to effectively provide home-based telerehabilitation and extract meaningful information on the therapy execution performance. The technology has been tuned to the needs of the rehabilitation system, optimizing the hardware, the communication protocol and the software control. A methodology for extracting the execution time of the rehabilitation tasks, the distance covered by the patient's hand in each subtask and the velocity profile is presented. The results show that a highly usable system for the rehabilitation of the upper limb has been developed using the RF technology and that performance metrics can be reliably extracted by the acquired signals.

Abstract
Being one of the world's seismically hazard-prone countries, the People's Republic of China (PRC) witnessed an 8.0-magnitude earthquake on May 12th 2008-which was reported as one of the most destructive disasters since its founding. Following this earthquake, rehabilitation was greatly required for survivors to enable them to achieve and maintain optimal independence; functioning; full physical, mental and social ability; inclusion; and participation in all aspects of life and environments. We conducted a systematic review based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines to retrospectively identify, in five English databases/sources, the existing evidence about the Health-Related Rehabilitation (HRR) that was rendered to the survivors of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake between 2008 and 2018. Only 11 studies out of 828 initial studies retrieved were included in our study and reported the survivors of the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake to have been aged between 10.5 and 55.7, and predominantly diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorders. Their HRR was mainly premised on physical and physiological therapies, as well as traditional Chinese medicine and digital technologies. Although all HRR interventions used were reported to be effective, none was identified as much more effective than the others in the post-earthquake era -which calls for more robust research to build upon our systematic review.
