Abstract
Starch is one of the members of the polysaccharide family. This biopolymer has shown many potential applications in different fields such as catalytic reactions, water treatment, packaging, and food industries. In recent years, using starch as a catalyst has attracted much attention. From a catalytic point of view, starch can be used in organic chemistry reactions as a catalyst or catalyst support. Reports show that as a catalyst, simple starch can promote many heterocyclic compound reactions. On the other hand, functionalized starch is not only capable of advancing the synthesis of heterocycles but also is a good candidate catalyst for other reactions including oxidation and coupling reactions. This review tries to provide a fair survey of published organic reactions which include using starch as a catalyst or a part of the main catalyst. Therefore, the other types of starch applications are not the subject of this review.

Abstract
A novel magnetic silica/graphene oxide nanocomposite supported ionic liquid/manganese complex (Fe3O4@SiO2-NH2/GO/IL-Mn) is prepared, characterized and its catalytic application is investigated. The Fe3O4@SiO2-NH2/GO/IL-Mn catalyst was synthesized via chemical immobilization of graphene oxide on Fe3O4@SiO2 nanoparticles followed by modification with ionic liquid/Mn complex. This nanocomposite was characterized by using SEM, TGA, FT-IR, PXRD, EDX, TEM, nitrogen adsorption-desorption, and VSM analyses. The catalytic application of Fe3O4@SiO2-NH2/GO/IL-Mn was studied in the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyrans (THBPs) in water solvent at RT. This nanocatalyst was successfully recovered and reused at least eight times without a significant decrease in its activity.

Abstract
Increased energy consumption as a result of population growth and industrialization necessitates the use of renewable energy sources in the field of chemistry. Nonrenewable energy sources release not only greenhouse gases but also other hazardous pollutants that are damaging to all living things. This plainly mandates the researchers' use of a renewable energy source that is both environmentally friendly and cost-effective. This study shows that a renewable energy source (sunlight) can be used to synthesize tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran scaffolds using the Knoevenagel-Michael cyclocondensation of aldehyde derivatives, malononitrile, and dimedone via a three-condensation domino reaction. This research establishes a new role for solar energy as a renewable energy source for the synthesis of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran scaffolds under catalyst-solvent-free conditions, with outstanding yields, shorter reaction time, and great atom economy. This cyclization may also be done on a gram scale with free, safe, and clean energy from concentrated solar radiation (CSR), indicating the reaction's potential for industrial applications.

Abstract
The preparation and design of nano-catalysts based on magnetic biopolymers as green and biocompatible nano-catalysts have made many advances. This paper deals with the preparation of magnetite biopolymer-based Brønsted base nano-catalyst from a nano-almond (Prunus dulcis) shell. This magnetite biopolymer-based nano-catalyst was obtained through a simple process based on the core-shelling of nano-almond shell and Fe3O4 NPs and then the immobilization of 3-chloropropyltrimethoxysilane as linker and 2-aminoethylpiperazine as a basic section. Structural and morphological analysis of this magnetite biopolymer-based nano-catalyst were done using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, field emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, Thermogravimetric analysis, Vibrating sample magnetization, Energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller, and Transmission electron microscopy techniques. The performance of the synthesized Fe3O4@nano-almondshell/Si(CH2)3/2-(1-piperazinyl)ethylamine as a novel magnetite biopolymer-based nano-catalyst for the synthesis of dihydropyrano[3,2-c]chromene and tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran was investigated and showed excellent efficiency.

Abstract
In a green tandem reaction using aldehyde derivatives, malononitrile, and dimedone, a radical tandem Knoevenagel–Michael cyclocondensation reaction of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran scaffolds was developed. Using visible light as a sustainable energy source, methylene blue (MB+)-derived photo-excited state functions were employed in an aqueous solution as single-electron transfer (SET) and energy transfer catalysts. The range of yields is quite uniform (81–98%, average 92.18%), and the range of reaction time is very fast (2–7 min, average 3.7 min), and the point mentioned in the discussion is that the procedure tolerates a range of donating and withdrawing groups, while still giving very excellent yields. The reaction is fairly insensitive to the nature of the substituents. Research conducted in this project aims to develop a non-metallic cationic dye that is both inexpensive and widely available for more widespread use. In addition to energy efficiency and environmental friendliness, methylene blue also offers an excellent atom economy, time-saving features, and ease of use. As a result, a wide range of long-term chemical and environmental properties can be obtained. The turnover number and turnover frequency of tetrahydrobenzo[b]pyran scaffolds have been computed. Surprisingly, gram-scale cyclization is a possibility, implying that the technology may be applied in industries.

Abstract
Heterocyclic compounds are representative of a larger class of organic compounds, and worthy of attention for many reasons, chief of which is the participation of heterocyclic scaffolds in the skeleton structure of many drugs. Lipases are enzymes with catalytic versatility, and play a key role in catalyzing the reaction of carbon–carbon bond formation, allowing the production of different compounds. This article reviewed the lipase-catalyzed aldol reaction, Knoevenagel reaction, Michael reaction, Mannich reaction, etc., in the synthesis of several classes of heterocyclic compounds with important physiological and pharmacological activities, and also prospected the research focus in lipase-catalyzed chemistry transformations in the future.

Abstract
This paper presents the efficient synthesis of 2-amino-4H-benzo[b]pyrans using mesoporous poly-melamine-formaldehyde as a polymeric heterogeneous catalyst. According to the principals of green chemistry, the reaction was performed by the planetary ball milling process at ambient and neat conditions. The heterogeneous catalyst could be reused up to five runs with no reducing of catalytic efficiency. A variety of substituted 2-amino-4H-benzo[b]pyrans were obtained in good to excellent yields under eco-friendly conditions. Other advantages of the current methodology include short reaction time, wide substrate-scope, and use of a metal-free polymeric catalyst. Also, the current method avoids the use of hazardous reagents and solvents, tedious workup and multi-step purification. This work revealed that porous organic polymers containing Lewis base sites having acceptor-donner hydrogen bonding functional groups, and high porosity could play a vital role in the promotion of the one-pot multicomponent reactions in the solid-phase synthesis.

Abstract
An ecofriendly, magnetically retrievable amine-functionalized SiO2@Fe3O4 catalyst was successfully synthesized and affirmed by several physicochemical characterization tools, such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and powder X-ray diffraction. Thereafter, the catalytic performance of this environmentally benign NH2@SiO2@Fe3O4 catalyst was investigated in the one-pot multicomponent synthesis of 2-amino-4H-benzo[b]pyran derivatives. The reaction was simply achieved by grinding of various substituted aromatic aldehydes, dimedone, and malononitrile at room temperature under solvent and waste-free conditions with excellent yields and high purity. Moreover, the developed catalyst not only possesses immense potential to accelerate the synthesis of bioactive pyran derivatives but also exhibits several remarkable attributes like broad functional group tolerance, durability, improved yield, reusability, and recyclability. Besides, various other fascinating advantages of this protocol are milder reaction conditions, cost effectiveness, short reaction time, and simple work up procedures.

Abstract
Abstract
The potassium carbonate was applied as a green and efficient catalyst for the one-pot synthesis of pyran annulated heterocyclic systems, via the condensation between aromatic aldehydes, malononitrile and dimedone/1-naphtole by a grinding method at room temperature and solvent-free conditions. Short reaction times, environmentally friendly procedure and excellent yields are the main advantages of this procedure which makes it more economic than other environmentally synthetic methods.
