Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformations Incidentalloma in a 10-Years-Old Child

Pulmonary Arteriovenous Malformations (PAVMs) are structurally abnormal vascular communications between pulmonary arteries and pulmonary veins, which bypass the normal capillary bed and cause a low resistance right-to-left shunt with refractory hypoxemia. Generally, PAVMs were congenital, most commonly associated with (Hereditary hemorrhagic teleangiectasia (HHT). The age of diagnosis is very variable, range neonatal to adulthood, mostly diagnosed in the first 3 decades of life and clinical manifestations occur later in life generally. Here, we report PAVMs discovered incidentally in a 10-years-old child without any known risk factor.

Successful treatment of multiple pulmonary arteriovenous fistulae with thoracoscopy

Congenital pulmonary arteriovenous fistulae occur as a result of abnormal blood vessel development in the lungs. Blood takes a short pass from the pulmonary artery to veins. Multiple pulmonary arteriovenous fistulae are a rare occurrence, especially when involving both lungs. Fistulae located at the edge are prone to rupture and bleeding. We discuss a case of a 15‐year‐old overweight male with multiple pulmonary arteriovenous fistulae successfully treated with wedge‐shape excision via video‐assisted thoracoscopic surgery.

Renal thromboembolism from a large pulmonary artery to a pulmonary vein fistula in an asymptomatic adolescent

Pulmonary arteriovenous fistula is a rare vascular anomaly that can cause significant morbidity and mortality. The presence and significance of symptoms are dependent on the size of the right-to-left shunt. Thromboembolic events may result in cerebrovascular accidents or systemic vascular occlusions. We present a case of an adolescent without cardiorespiratory symptoms, who developed flank pain due to renal infarction, followed by a brief literature review.
