Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this paper is to define a subset of complex rTKA in terms of preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative outcomes and complications. The secondary outcome of the authors is to propose a simple and easy-to-use guide for clinical network in rTKA management. METHODS Complex rTKAs were defined according to the presence of at least two of the following features: periprosthetic joint infection, re- revision, femoral and/or tibial massive bone defects, soft tissue impairment, stiffness, fracture requiring fixed component revision. RESULTS Twenty-six patients underwent a standard rTKA (group A) while 24 had a complex rTKA (group B). The mean follow-up was 50.2 ± 16.4 months in group A and 49.5 ± 16.8 in group B (p = 0.44). The operative time was longer in group B (200.4 ± 131.4 min vs 110.2 ± 59.8 min). A greater intraoperative total blood loss (3014.2 ± 740.0 vs 2328.5 ± 620.6 ml, p < 0.001), intra and postoperative blood infusion (3.6 ± 1.2 vs 2.1 ± 1.2 units, p < 0.001) was reported in group B. Significant difference was obtained for global complication rate (11.5% group A vs 37.5% group B, p = 0.04), reoperation (7.7% group A vs 33.3% group B, p = p = 0.03) and re-revision (3.8% group A vs 25% group B, p = p = 0.04). CONCLUSION This study describes a specific entity of rTKA that require higher surgical effort and increased surgical challenge (measured as increased surgical time, need of transfusions and complications). The proposed classification could provide an easy-to-use tool for quick grading of complexity in rTKA.

Abstract
Revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is associated with a higher risk of readmission than primary TKA. Identifying individual patients predisposed to readmission can facilitate proactive optimization and increase care efficiency. This study developed machine learning (ML) models to predict unplanned readmission following revision TKA using a national-scale patient dataset. A total of 17,443 revision TKA cases (2013-2020) were acquired from the ACS NSQIP database. Four ML models (artificial neural networks, random forest, histogram-based gradient boosting, and k-nearest neighbor) were developed on relevant patient variables to predict readmission following revision TKA. The length of stay, operation time, body mass index (BMI), and laboratory test results were the strongest predictors of readmission. Histogram-based gradient boosting was the best performer in distinguishing readmission (AUC: 0.95) and estimating the readmission probability for individual patients (calibration slope: 1.13; calibration intercept: -0.00; Brier score: 0.064). All models produced higher net benefit than the default strategies of treating all or no patients, supporting the clinical utility of the models. ML demonstrated excellent performance for the prediction of readmission following revision TKA. Optimization of important predictors highlighted by our model may decrease preventable hospital readmission following surgery, thereby leading to reduced financial burden and improved patient satisfaction.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although several studies have compared the clinical outcomes of septic and aseptic revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA), their results have been controversial. Therefore, this study aimed to compare clinical outcomes and complications of septic and aseptic revision TKA through a systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS The PubMed (MEDLINE) and Embase databases were searched for studies evaluating the clinical outcomes and complications of 2-stage septic revision and aseptic revision TKAs. A systematic review of clinical outcomes (Knee Society Knee and Function Scores and range of motion) and complications (reoperation, infection, and failure rates) was conducted. RESULTS Thirteen studies were included in the systematic review. The mean MINORS (Methodological Index for NOn-Randomized Studies) score of the included studies was 20.5 (range, 18 to 22). The meta-analysis revealed higher reoperation (risk ratio [RR], 1.98; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.50 to 2.62; p < 0.00001), infection (RR, 4.08; 95% CI, 2.94 to 5.64; p < 0.00001), and failure rates (RR, 2.88; 95% CI, 1.38 to 6.03; p = 0.005) in septic revision TKAs than in aseptic revision TKAs. Moreover, septic revision TKAs showed lower Knee Society Knee Scores compared with aseptic TKAs (mean difference [MD], -6.86; 95% CI, -11.80 to -1.92; p = 0.006). However, the Knee Society Function Score (MD, -1.84; 95% CI, -7.84 to 3.80; p = 0.52) and range of motion (MD, -6.96°; 95% CI, -16.23° to 2.31°; p = 0.14) were not significantly different between septic and aseptic revision TKAs. CONCLUSIONS Despite the heterogeneity of prosthesis designs and surgical protocols used in septic and aseptic revision TKAs, the results of this systematic review suggest that 2-stage septic revision TKAs have poorer clinical outcomes and higher complication rates than aseptic revision TKAs do. Abstract
PURPOSE In revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA) ligament instability and bone defects might require more constraint implants such as a condylar constrained knee (CCK) or rotating hinged knee (RHK). When both implants are suitable, the choice remains controversial. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to compare the survivorship and clinical outcome between CCK and RHK in revision TKA. METHODS Systematic literature research was performed. Studies analysing the clinical outcome and/or survivorship of CCK and/or RHK in revision TKA were included. Clinical outcomes included the Knee Society Score, both clinical (KSCS) and functional (KSFS), range of motion (ROM) and reoperations. Survival was defined as the time free from removal or revision of the femoral and/or tibial component. RESULTS A total of 40 articles analysing 4.555 knees were included. Survival did not differ between RHK and CCK implants (p = 0.6058), with, respectively, 91.6% and 89.8% survival after 5 years. Postoperative KSCS and KSFS were, respectively, 79.2 (SD 10.7) and 61.1 (SD 21.8) for the CCK group. Similar scores were noted for the RHK group with a KSCS of 80.2 (SD 14.1) and KSFS of 58.5 (SD 17.3). Postoperative ROM was similar for CCK (105.3°, SD 17.1°) and RHK patients (104.1°, SD 16.9°). CONCLUSION This meta-analysis revealed that both survivorship and clinical outcome are similar for CCK and RHK patients for whom both designs are technically suitable and indicated. Abstract
BACKGROUND The causes of primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) failure can be divided into septic and aseptic etiologies. It is unclear whether the etiology affects the infection rate after revision TKA. This systematic review was conducted to evaluate whether there is a difference in infection rates between septic and aseptic revision TKA. We hypothesized that infection rates would be higher after septic revision TKA. METHODS The PubMed and Embase databases and the Cochrane Library were searched to find studies evaluating infection rates following septic and aseptic revision TKA. We included studies that compared the postoperative infection rates of a group that received revision TKA for aseptic failure and a group that received 1- or 2-stage revision TKA for septic failure. Studies on re-revision TKA and on revision surgery after partial knee arthroplasty were excluded, as were studies of debridement, antibiotics, and implant retention (DAIR). RESULTS Twelve studies were included in this systematic review. In studies in which 1- or 2-stage revision TKA was performed for septic failure, septic revision TKA had a significantly higher infection rate than aseptic revision TKA (odds ratio [OR], 6.83; 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.54 to 30.33; p = 0.01). Similarly, in studies in which 2-stage revision TKA was performed for septic failure, septic revision TKA had a significantly higher infection rate than aseptic revision TKA (OR, 4.14; 95% CI, 2.33 to 7.36; p < 0.00001). In the comparison of revision TKA for aseptic loosening and septic revision TKA, septic revision TKA had a higher infection rate than aseptic revision TKA (OR, 4.45; 95% CI, 2.28 to 8.70; p < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS Overall, septic revision TKA had a higher infection rate than aseptic revision TKA. Even when 2-stage revision TKA was performed for septic failure, the infection rate was higher after septic revision TKA than after aseptic revision. Surgeons should explain the relatively high infection rates to patients undergoing revision TKA for septic failure of their primary joint replacement. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Therapeutic Level IV . Abstract
To map literature on prognostic factors related to outcomes of revision total knee arthroplasty (rTKA), to identify extensively studied factors and to guide future research into what domains need further exploration. We performed a systematic literature search in MEDLINE, Embase, and Web of Science. The search string included multiple synonyms of the following keywords: "revision TKA", "outcome" and "prognostic factor". We searched for studies assessing the association between at least one prognostic factor and at least one outcome measure after rTKA surgery. Data on sample size, study design, prognostic factors, outcomes, and the direction of the association was extracted and included in an evidence map. After screening of 5,660 articles, we included 166 studies reporting prognostic factors for outcomes after rTKA, with a median sample size of 319 patients (30 to 303,867). Overall, 50% of the studies reported prospectively collected data, and 61% of the studies were performed in a single centre. In some studies, multiple associations were reported; 180 different prognostic factors were reported in these studies. The three most frequently studied prognostic factors were reason for revision (213 times), sex (125 times), and BMI (117 times). Studies focusing on functional scores and patient-reported outcome measures as prognostic factor for the outcome after surgery were limited (n = 42). The studies reported 154 different outcomes. The most commonly reported outcomes after rTKA were: re-revision (155 times), readmission (88 times), and reinfection (85 times). Only five studies included costs as outcome. Outcomes and prognostic factors that are routinely registered as part of clinical practice (e.g. BMI, sex, complications) or in (inter)national registries are studied frequently. Studies on prognostic factors, such as functional and sociodemographic status, and outcomes as healthcare costs, cognitive and mental function, and psychosocial impact are scarce, while they have been shown to be important for patients with osteoarthritis.

Abstract
Background Patella baja with patellar tendon shortening due to traumatic or ischemic injury is a widely known complication after primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Pseudo-patella baja may arise from the elevation of the joint line after excessive distal femoral resection. The maintenance of original patellar height is important in revision TKA because postoperative patella baja and pseudo-patella baja can cause inferior biomechanical and clinical results. We investigated the incidence and risk factors of patella baja and pseudo-patella baja after revision TKA. Methods We retrospectively reviewed data for 180 revision TKAs. Patella baja was defined as a truly low-lying patella with an Insall-Salvati ratio (ISR) of < 0.8 and a Blackburne-Peel ratio (BPR) of < 0.54. Pseudo-patella baja was defined as a relatively low-lying patella compared to the joint line within the normal range of ISR and with a BPR of < 0.54. Clinically, the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and range of motion (ROM) were evaluated. Risk factors increasing the incidence of patella baja and pseudo-patella baja after revision TKA were evaluated using multiple regression analysis. Results Before revision TKA, 169 knees did not exhibit patella baja or pseudo-patella baja, while 9 knees showed patella baja and 2 knees exhibited pseudo-patella baja. At 2 years after revision TKAs, 25 knees (13.9%) showed patella baja and 23 knees (12.8%) exhibited pseudo-patella baja. Despite no differences in the postoperative WOMAC score between groups with and without patella baja and pseudo-patella baja, the postoperative ROM was significantly smaller in the group with patella baja (113.3°) or pseudo patella baja (110.5°) than in the normal group (122.0°). Infection as the cause of revision TKA increased the risk of patella baja (odds ratio, 10.958; p < 0.001), and instability increased the risk of pseudo-patella baja (odds ratio, 11.480; p < 0.001). Conclusions Infection and instability resulted in increases in the incidence of patella baja and pseudo-patella baja after revision TKA. Information about the risk factors of patella baja and pseudo-patella baja will help TKA surgeons plan the height of the patella after revision TKA and improve clinical outcomes.

Abstract
PURPOSE Providing long-term outcome data after rTKA and compare one- versus two-stage and septic versus aseptic revisions. METHODS This study represents a single-center retrospective study of first rTKAs performed for any reason with a final follow-up of a minimum of five years. Outcome parameters included stability assessment ROM, radiologic assessment, HSS score, KSS score, OKS score, EQ-5D-3L and VAS. 44 patients were included in the study. Subgroups analysis of one- versus two-stage revision and septic versus aseptic revision was performed. RESULTS The leading causes of rTKA in this mean 11 year follow-up study were aseptic loosening (36%) and periprosthetic joint infection (27%). At the final follow-up, there was a 89% survivorship of the implants. Patients showed a ROM of 114 ± 13°, HSS score of 78 ± 12, KKS objective score of 77 ± 16, KSS expectation and satisfaction score of 32 ± 11, KSS functional activity score of 50 ± 20, OKS of 30 ± 9, VAS of 53 ± 25 and EQ-5D index of 0.649. Functional outcome scores were not significantly altered in the analyzed subgroups. CONCLUSIONS In our 11 years follow-up, we obtained 89% implant survivorship. Measurements regarding functional outcome and pain showed results in the medium range of the respective scores, while patient satisfaction lay in the upper third. No significant differences in outcome scores between one- and two-stage revisions and septic versus aseptic revisions were observed. Level of Evidence Level III, retrospective cohort study.

Abstract
Background A common tibial construct for revision total knee arthroplasty includes a long diaphyseal engaging press-fit stem. Due to tibial canal bowing, compromises are often necessary to match patient anatomy when choosing stemmed implants. The objective of this study is to determine through 3-D modeling whether current implant press-fit options appropriately fit patient anatomy, or whether an alternative angle between the stem and baseplate could increase the cortical engagement of long press-fit tibial stems. Methods Preoperative computerized tomography scans from 100 patients undergoing TKA were imported into an image-processing software program. Three-dimensional models were created with tibial stems placed at a fixed perpendicular angle and a custom angle to the revision tibial baseplate. Stem diameter, depth, offset, and contact surface area were measured and analyzed between the 2 groups. Results Significantly more cortical contact, larger stem diameter, and smaller offset of the custom keel from the center of the baseplate were associated with free custom tibial stem placement vs a fixed perpendicular baseplate-stem interface (P < .001). Statistically significant differences were also found between different patient demographics. Conclusions Custom free-angle stem placement allows for increased stem diameter and cortical contact of press-fit tibial stems compared to existing constructs that must interface with the baseplate at a 90-degree angle. Current revision tibia implants limit fixation of tibial press-fit stems and often mismatch with patient anatomy. Alternative ways to fit patient anatomy may be beneficial for patients with extreme mismatch. In the future, custom keel angles may help to resolve this problem.

Similar outcomes to primary total knee arthroplasty achievable for aseptic revision using the same primary posterior-stabilised prosthesis at a mean follow-up of 49 months. Abstract
PURPOSE The aim of the study was to compare clinical and radiological outcomes between primary and aseptic revision TKAs using the same posterior-stabilised (PS) prosthesis. The authors hypothesised similar outcomes between both groups for selected patients. METHODS This retrospective, case-control study assessed 36 patients who underwent aseptic revision TKA compared to a match group of 72 primary TKA. Both groups had the same PS design implant (ANATOMIC®, Amplitude, Valence, France). The International Knee Society (IKS) score, radiological outcomes (postoperative alignment, patellar tilt and radiolucent lines), re-intervention and revision rate were compared between the two groups with a minimum follow-up of 3 years. RESULTS The final study cohort included 29 patients and 63 patients respectively in the revision and primary group, with a mean follow-up of 49.1 months (range 36.1-69). Postoperatively, there was no significant difference in IKS scores between the two groups [169.8 for the revision group and 179.6 for the primary group (p = 0.09)]. No statistical difference was observed for post-operative satisfaction 86.2% versus 92.1% (p = 0.46). Between the two groups, there was no difference in mean radiological assessment, including radiolucent lines (p = 0.7). There was no significant difference for overall implant survivorship 96.5% versus 100% (p = 0.13) at 36 months. CONCLUSION Similar clinical, radiological and survivorship outcomes were found between rTKA and primary TKA groups using the same PS level of constraint in patients undergoing revision surgery for aseptic indications at 3-year follow-up. Use of PS implants in rTKA for the correct indication suggests this to be a safe approach at least in the medium term. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE IV, retrospective case-control study.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients with total knee arthroplasty (TKA) stiffness are commonly presumed to have arthrofibrosis though no specific test exists. In patients undergoing revision TKA, we asked the following question: (1) Do patients who are revised for stiffness display a synovial reaction on MRI that is different than patients revised for other reasons? (2) Do these patients have a different magnitude of polyethylene insert damage than patients revised for other reasons? and (3) Is the MRI synovial classification associated with polyethylene insert damage? METHODS Patients undergoing revision TKA for stiffness had a preoperative MRI performed, and the synovium was classified on MRI in a blinded fashion as arthrofibrosis, focal scarring, polymeric reaction, infection, or abnormal. At surgery, the polyethylene inserts were removed, and graded by 2 reviewers for total surface damage. RESULTS Revision indication and MRI synovial classification were associated (P < .0001), with a greater proportion of patients assigned an MRI classification of arthrofibrosis revised for arthrofibrosis and a greater proportion of patients assigned a polymeric classification revised for aseptic loosening. Patients assigned an MRI synovial classification of polymeric had the greatest damage to the tibial insert (P < .0001), and patients revised for the clinical indication of aseptic loosening had the greatest damage to the tibial insert (P < .0001). CONCLUSION Synovial grading on MRI is strongly associated with revision indication and polyethylene insert damage. In patients with stiffness in the absence of another complication, MRI can be a helpful diagnostic adjuvant in confirming the diagnosis of stiffness.

Abstract
PURPOSE There is currently no consensus regarding the optimal treatment for stiffness following total knee arthroplasty (TKA). With the increased utilization of value-based models, it is important to determine the most effective treatments that will reduce the need for further intervention and additional expenditure. A systematic review was performed to compare the outcomes of manipulation under anaesthesia (MUA), arthroscopic lysis of adhesions (aLOA), and revision TKA (rTKA) for arthrofibrosis and stiffness following TKA. METHODS PubMed and MEDLINE databases were reviewed for articles published through October 2020. Studies were included if they reported patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) following MUA, aLOA, or rTKA. The primary endpoint was PROMs, while secondary outcomes included range of motion and the percentage of patients who pursued further treatment for stiffness. RESULTS A total of 40 studies were included: 21 on rTKA, 7 on aLOA, and 14 on MUA. The mean or median post-operative arc ROM was > 90° in 6/20 (30%) rTKA, 5/7 (71%) aLOA, and 7/10 (70%) MUA studies. Post-operative Knee Society (KSS) clinical and functional scores were the greatest in patients who underwent MUA and aLOA. As many as 43% of rTKA patients required further care compared to 25% of aLOA and 17% of MUA patients. CONCLUSION Stiffness following TKA remains a challenging condition to treat. Nonetheless, current evidence suggests that patients who undergo rTKA have poorer clinical outcomes and a greater need for further treatment compared to patients who undergo MUA or aLOA.

Abstract
AIMS Revision knee replacement is an increasingly common procedure, however, information on patient-focused outcomes is limited. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to investigate the medium-term patient reported outcomes following a revision knee replacement. METHODS We performed a systematic review of MEDLINE and EMBASE (from inception to 1st March 2021) for articles reporting five year or greater patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) following revision knee replacement. A meta-analysis of PROMs data was undertaken using the Standardised Mean Difference (SMD). Quality of methodology was assessed using Wylde's non-summative four-point system. The study was registered with PROPSERO (CRD42021199289). RESULTS A total of 23 studies met the inclusion criteria containing 2414 patients at a mean minimum follow-up of 74 months (60-122). The reporting of PROMs were poorly standardised with several PROMs being used. The most commonly reported patient reported outcome was the Knee Society Score reported in 65% of studies (15/23). A meta-analysis of 629 eligible patients undergoing revision knee replacement revealed a significant improvement in pre-operative state with a SMD 2·05 95% CI 0.87, 3.23. CONCLUSION This systematic review has found a significant and sustained improvement in patient-reported outcomes following a revision knee arthroplasty beyond five years. We found a variation in the usage and administration of PROMs which hinders a clear synthesis of results. Furthermore, the PROMs have not been robustly tested for validity in the context of a revision knee replacement.

Abstract
Purpose Despite good survival rates of revised knee prostheses, little is known about recovery trajectories within the first 12 months after surgery. This retrospective observational study explored recovery trajectories in terms of pain, function and quality of life in patients after revision knee arthroplasty over 12 months. Methods Eighty-eight revision knee arthroplasty patients rated changes in daily physical functioning using the anchor question (0: very much worsened; 7: very much improved). Patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) of pain (range 0–10), function (Oxford Knee Score) and quality of life (EQ-5D-3L) were assessed preoperatively, at 3 and 12 months postoperatively. Four recovery trajectories were identified using the anchor question at 3 and 12 months postoperatively: no improvement, late improvement, early improvement, and prolonged improvement. Repeated measures ANOVA was conducted with recovery trajectories as dependent variable and PROM assessments as independent variables. Results Sixty percent reported improvement in daily physical functioning at 12 months postoperatively. Age and reason for revision differed between groups. Pain, function and EQ-5D-3L differed between groups over time. Late and prolonged improvement groups improved on all PROMs at 12 months. The early improvement group did not report improvement in daily physical functioning at 12 months, while improvements in function and pain during activity were observed. Conclusions Different recovery trajectories seem to exist and mostly match PROMs scores over time. Not all patients may experience beneficial outcome of revision knee arthroplasty. These findings are of importance to provide appropriate information on possible recovery trajectories after revision knee arthroplasty to patients. Abstract
AIMS Stemmed tibial components are frequently used in revision total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The purpose of this study was to evaluate patient satisfaction, overall pain, and diaphyseal tibial pain in patients who underwent revision TKA with cemented or uncemented stemmed tibial components. METHODS This is a retrospective cohort study involving 110 patients with revision TKA with cemented versus uncemented stemmed tibial components. Patients who underwent revision TKA with stemmed tibial components over a 15-year period at a single institution with at least two-year follow-up were assessed. Pain was evaluated through postal surveys. There were 63 patients with cemented tibial stems and 47 with uncemented stems. Radiographs and Knee Society Scores were used to evaluate for objective findings associated with pain or patient dissatisfaction. Postal surveys were analyzed using Fisher's exact test and the independent-samples t-test. Logistic regression was used to adjust for age, sex, and preoperative bone loss. RESULTS No statistically significant differences in stem length, operative side, or indications for revision were found between the two cohorts. Tibial pain at the end of the stem was present in 25.3% (16/63) of cemented stems and 25.5% (12/47) of uncemented stems (p = 1.000); 74.6% (47/63) of cemented patients and 78.7% (37/47) of uncemented patients were satisfied following revision TKA (p = 0.657). CONCLUSION There were no differences in patient satisfaction, overall pain, and diaphyseal tibial pain in cemented and uncemented stemmed tibial components in revision TKA. Patient factors, rather than implant selection and surgical technique, likely play a large role in the presence of postoperative pain. Stemmed tibial components have been shown to be a possible source of pain in revision TKA. There is no difference in patient satisfaction or postoperative pain with cemented or uncemented stemmed tibial components in revision TKA. Abstract
Background and purpose - The distal part of the vastus medialis muscle is an important stabilizer for the patella. Thus, knowledge of the intramuscular nerve course and branching pattern is important to estimate whether the muscle's innervation is at risk if splitting the muscle. We determined the intramuscular course of the nerve branches supplying the distal part of the vastus medialis muscle to identify the surgical approach that best preserves its innervation.Material and methods - 8 vastus medialis muscles from embalmed anatomic specimens underwent Sihler's procedure to make soft tissue translucent while staining the nerves to study their intramuscular course. After dissection under transillumination using magnification glasses all nerve branches were evaluated.Results - The terminal nerve branches were located in different layers of the muscle and ran mostly parallel but also transverse to the muscle fibers. In half of the cases, the latter formed 1 to 3 anastomoses and coursed close to the myotendinous junction. Additionally, most of the branches extended into the ventromedial part of the knee joint capsule.Interpretation - To preserve the innervation of the distal part of the vastus medialis muscle, any split of the muscle during surgical approaches to the knee joint should be avoided.

Abstract
Background: Although the majority of total knee arthroplasty cases have good outcome and survival, some arthroplasty eventually required revision. While early outcomes of revision knee arthroplasty are well reported, there is relatively fewer literatures reporting on the longer term outcome of revision knee arthroplasty. This study aims to review the outcome of revision knee arthroplasty for a longer term, and also make comparison between the two common indications for revision arthroplasty of infection and aseptic loosening. Methods: This study reviews all total knee arthroplasty revision performed at a single center over a 11 year period. Of the 48 cases found, 35 cases not lost to follow-up had a mean follow-up duration of 10.6 years (SD 2.9) for aseptic loosening, and 10.1 years (SD 2.6) for infection. Data of initial arthroplasty, revision arthroplasty, demographics, follow-up outcome were obtained, analyzed and compared. Results: Revision arthroplasty due to infection had more cases that required use of varus/valgus constraints (p ∼ 0.008) and extensile surgical exposure of quadriceps snip (p ∼ 0.005) compared to aseptic loosening. The survival at 10 years for this study is 91% overall (aseptic loosening 93.3%, infection 89.3%). Infection cases had significant initial improvement for range of motion (p ∼ 0.001) and use of walking aid (p ∼ 0.04) at post-operation 1 year, but no significant differences between the infection and aseptic loosening cases at 5 years and 10 years follow-up. Comparison between the two groups on other factors including initial arthroplasty, operative details, demographics, post-operative details and X-rays showed no statistically significant difference.
