Abstract
Appendectomy ranks among the most common surgical procedures. Laparoscopic appendectomy has become increasingly popular among certain surgeons. Even laparoscopic appendectomy is considered the gold standard; many surgical subspecialties have adopted robotic surgery in the past 10 years. The robotic system is recognized for enhancing stability, visualization, precision, and spatial flexibility. Surgeons can operate with enhanced dexterity, reduced tremors, three-dimensional visualization, up to 10 times magnification, and control over four arms thanks to improved ergonomics that allow them to sit at a customizable console. The purpose of this study is to evaluate and compare the overall effects, such as intraoperative time, postoperative recovery, feasibility for surgeons, and cost-effectiveness, of robotic-assisted appendectomy and laparoscopic appendectomy through the available literature. It was found that both robotic and laparoscopic surgeries work well for appendectomy, but in some studies, it was found that robotic surgery comes with the perks of shorter hospital stays and quicker recovery, even though it is more expensive, and in some studies, no differences were observed in patient recovery postoperatively. Laparoscopic surgery is still a highly effective and commonly used method, with proven advantages over open appendectomy, despite taking longer for the procedure. We need more studies to fully understand the advantages and disadvantages of robotic surgery, especially when it comes to cost-effectiveness and wider health outcomes.

Abstract
Pancreaticoduodenectomy, so-called "Whipple operation," is a time-consuming and technically demanding complex operation. Traditionally, this procedure has been performed most usually by open approach, which results in a large and painful wound. With the introduction of laparoscopic and robotic surgery, minimally invasive surgery (MIS) has emerged as a worldwide trend to improve wound cosmesis and to minimize wound pain. Although MIS for pancreaticoduodenectomy has also been attempted at some centers, the role of MIS, either robotic or laparoscopic approach, has not been well-established for complex pancreaticoduodenectomy. Given that laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy has been limited by its technical complexity and the high level of advanced laparoscopic skills required for pancreatic reconstruction, a robotic surgical system is introduced to overcome several limitations related to the laparoscopic approach. Providing high-quality three-dimensional (3-D) vision, high optical magnification, articulation of robotic instruments, greater precision with suture targeting, and elimination of surgeon tremor, robotic surgical systems innovatively perform more delicate and complex procedures involving extensive dissection and suturing techniques such as pancreaticoduodenectomy. Although associated with longer operative time, robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy (RPD) has been claimed to have the benefits of less delayed gastric emptying, less blood loss, shorter length of postoperative stay, and lower wound infection rate, as compared with the traditional open pancreaticoduodenectomy (OPD). Moreover, RPD seems to be not only technically feasible but also justified without compromising the survival outcomes for pancreatic head and ampullary adenocarcinomas. Therefore, RPD could be recommended not only to surgeons but also to patients in terms of surgical feasibility, surgical outcomes, and patient satisfaction.

Abstract
Background This study sought to investigate the correlation between inpatient satisfaction and surgical quality evaluation indicators, and explore the factors affecting inpatient satisfaction. Methods A total of 5,000 inpatients who underwent surgery at 10 tertiary. A hospital in Chongqing were randomly selected and asked to complete an inpatient satisfaction questionnaire developed by our team in a previous study. A logistic regression was undertaken to analyze the factors affecting inpatient satisfaction, and the relationship between inpatient satisfaction and evaluation indicators of surgical quality. Results The overall satisfaction level of inpatients undergoing surgery was high. Specifically, the satisfaction level was 88.7%, and the dissatisfaction level was 11.3%. A univariate analysis showed that age, marital status, education level, monthly family income, the source of medical costs, the average length of the hospital stay, first hospitalization or not, doctor-patient communication, the quality of surgery, service attitude, 30-day postoperative mortality, major and minor complications, the rescue failure rate, readmission, and the incision infection rate affected the patient satisfaction, and the difference between satisfied and dissatisfied patients in each group was statistically significant (all P=0.000). The results of the logistic regression analysis showed that the factors related to the satisfaction of surgical quality indicators were postoperative 30-day mortality, major and minor complications, the rescue failure rate, the incision infection rate, and the average length of the hospital stay (all P<0.05), and the factors related to a decrease in inpatient satisfaction were increased postoperative 30-day mortality, a high incidence of major and minor complications, a high rescue failure rate, and a high incision infection rate. Conclusions There was a significant correlation between inpatient satisfaction and surgical quality evaluation indicators (i.e., 30-day mortality, major and minor complications, the rescue failure rate, the incision infection rate, and the average length of the hospital stay).

Abstract
Post-pancreaticoduodenectomy hemorrhage is a life-threatening complication that occurs in 2-10% of patients. The most common location for post-pancreaticoduodenectomy hemorrhage is the gastroduodenal artery stump. Nonetheless, unusual sources of hemorrhage, which are hard to locate, exist. Here, we report a rare postoperative hemorrhage after robotic-assisted pancreatoduodenectomy for pancreatic head cancer. A 67-year-old man presenting with appetite loss, general fatigue and painless jaundice was admitted to our ward. The patient had an elevated level of carbohydrate antigen 19-9 (50 U/mL). Computed tomography scan revealed a 17-mm wide low-density area in the uncinate process of the pancreas. Magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography showed the dilation of bile and pancreatic ducts. Robotic-assisted pancreaticoduodenectomy was performed on the patient by using the da Vinci Model S Surgical System. On postoperative days 5 and 6, the patient vomited blood, and bloody fluid was observed in the drainage. Emergent gastroscopic examination was performed and revealed a large amount of hematocele in the stomach. On postoperative day 6, emergency operation was undertaken, and the output jejunal loop was found to have intussuscepted in the stomach. This is the first case report of output jejunal loop intussusception in the stomach that consequently caused hemorrhage after robotic-assisted pancreaticoduodenectomy for pancreatic head cancer.

Abstract
Minimally invasive surgery has become a worldwide trend to reduce the wound and mitigate pain. However, the role of robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy (RPD) has not been well established in the era of minimally invasive surgery. It would be nearly impossible to apply minimally invasive surgery in the tedious and complicated Whipple operation without an experienced and dedicated pancreas team. The pancreatic team led by Shyr YM and Wang SE at Taipei Veterans General Hospital have already been highly accredited with a Copper Award of Symbol of National Quality (SNQ award), entitled with "Minimally Invasive Robotic Pancreatic Surgery-Small Wound for Major Pancreatic Surgery" in Taiwan in 2019. RPD was claimed to be associated with less blood loss, less delayed gastric emptying, shorter length of postoperative stay, and lower wound infection rate, but longer operative time, as compared with the traditional open pancreaticoduodenectomy (OPD). More than 99% of the patients undergoing minimally invasive RPD are satisfied with the surgical outcomes and would like to recommend RPD to those with periampullary lesions. RPD could be recommended not only to surgeons but also to patients in terms of surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction. Moreover, our study showed a survival benefit for pancreatic head adenocarcinoma in RPD group, with 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year survival of 82.9%, 45.3%, and 26.8%, respectively, as compared with 63.8%, 26.2%, and 17.4% in OPD.
