Abstract
Metarhizium anisopliae, an entomopathogenic fungus, has been widely used for the control of agricultural and forestry pests. However, sporulation degeneration occurs frequently during the process of successive culture, and we currently lack a clear understanding of the underlying mechanisms. In this study, the metabolic profiles of M. anisopliae were comparatively analyzed based on the metabolomics approach of gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). A total of 74 metabolites were detected in both normal and degenerate strains, with 40 differential metabolites contributing significantly to the model. Principal component analysis (PCA) and potential structure discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) showed a clear distinction between the sporulation of normal strains and degenerate strains. Specifically, 23 metabolites were down-regulated and 17 metabolites were up-regulated in degenerate strains compared to normal strains. The KEGG enrichment analysis identified 47 significant pathways. Among them, the alanine, aspartate and glutamate metabolic pathways and the glycine, serine and threonine metabolism had the most significant effects on sporulation, which revealed that significant changes occur in the metabolic phenotypes of strains during sporulation and degeneration processes. Furthermore, our subsequent experiments have substantiated that the addition of amino acids could improve M. anisopliae's spore production. Our study shows that metabolites, especially amino acids, which are significantly up-regulated or down-regulated during the sporulation and degeneration of M. anisopliae, may be involved in the sporulation process of M. anisopliae, and amino acid metabolism (especially glutamate, aspartate, serine, glycine, arginine and leucine) may be an important part of the sporulation mechanism of M. anisopliae. This study provides a foundation and technical support for rejuvenation and production improvement strategies for M. anisopliae.

Abstract
With the expansion of the green products market and the worldwide policies and strategies directed toward a green revolution and ecological transition, the demand for innovative approaches is always on the rise. Among the sustainable agricultural approaches, microbial-based products are emerging over time as effective and feasible alternatives to agrochemicals. However, the production, formulation, and commercialization of some products can be challenging. Among the main challenges are the industrial production processes that ensure the quality of the product and its cost on the market. In the context of a circular economy, solid-state fermentation (SSF) might represent a smart approach to obtaining valuable products from waste and by-products. SSF enables the growth of various microorganisms on solid surfaces in the absence or near absence of free-flowing water. It is a valuable and practical method and is used in the food, pharmaceutical, energy, and chemical industries. Nevertheless, the application of this technology in the production of formulations useful in agriculture is still limited. This review summarizes the literature dealing with SSF agricultural applications and the future perspective of its use in sustainable agriculture. The survey showed good potential for SSF to produce biostimulants and biopesticides useful in agriculture.

Abstract
There is a worldwide concern to achieve food security with a sustainable approach, including the generation and implementation of techniques for the production of high-quality chemical-free crops. This food revolution has promoted the development and consolidation of programmes for integrated pest management. Some of those programmes include the use of diverse organisms (biological control agents) to suppress populations of pests potentially harmful to the crops. Among these biological control agents are entomopathogenic fungi that are highly effective in suppressing a diversity of insects and have, therefore, been produced and marketed throughout the world. However, the bottleneck for applying entomopathogenic fungi is the production of propagules (blastospores and conidia) with resistance to environment conditions and abiotic factors, maintaining high quality in terms of virulence. Therefore, this manuscript presents recent studies related to increasing resistance and quality using different bioreactors to produce conidia. The above presents a global panorama related to current developments that contribute to improving the resistance, quality, and production of entomopathogenic fungal propagules.

Abstract
Here we studied at a laboratory scale a potential strategy to revalorize the residual rice remaining at the end of a conventional conidia production process in solid-state culture. The conidia production of Trichoderma asperellum Th-T4 (3) and Metarhizium robertsii Xoch-8.1 started with the use of fresh rice (unrecycled rice) as the substrate (cycle one), and continued with the use of recycled rice in successive cycles of conidia production. The rice remaining at the end of the first cycle was reused without any further sterilization or reinoculation. As a result, it was observed that the conidia production and productivity significantly increased in both fungi. Conidia production in T. asperellum Th-T4 (3) increased from 1 × 109 (first cycle) to 2·9 × 109 conidia per gram of initial dry substrate (con⋅gds-1 ) (second cycle using recycled rice), while in M. robertsii Xoch-8.1, this parameter increased form 5·7 × 108 to 1·4 × 109 con⋅gds-1 . Both fungi grew faster and conidiated earlier when recycled rice was used as the substrate, therefore, conidia productivity was also significantly improved. Furthermore, the use of recycled rice did not affect conidia viability. This is the first report about a recycling methodology completely free of extra-processing steps, and useful to increase conidia production and productivity.

Abstract
In the present work, bioethanol was produced by sugar fermentation obtained from water hyacinth using a novelty hybrid method composed of steam explosion and enzymatic hydrolysis, using hydrolytic enzymes produced by solid-state fermentation and water hyacinth as substrate. The highest activity, 42 U for xylanase and 2 U for cellulase per gram of dry matter, respectively, was obtained. Steam explosion pretreatment was performed at 190 ℃ for 1, 5, and 10 min, using water hyacinth sampled from the Maria Lizamba Lagoon, the Arroyo Hondo and the Amapa River. The highest amounts of reducing sugars of water hyacinth were obtained form the samples from the lagoon (5.4 g/50 g of dry matter) after 10 min of treatment. Steamed biomass was hydrolysed using the enzymes obtained by solid-state fermentation, obtained reducing sugars (maximum 15.5 g/L); the efficiency of enzymatic hydrolysis was 0.51 g of reducing sugars per gram of water hyacinth. Finally, reducing sugars were fermented using Saccharomyces cerevisiae for conversion to ethanol, with the highest ethanol concentration (7.13 g/L) and an ethanol yield of 0.23 g/g of dry matter.
