Abstract
Catalysts generated in situ by the combination of pyridine-hydrazone N,N-ligands and Pd(TFA)2 have been applied to the addition of arylboronic acids to formylphosphonate-derived hydrazones, yielding α-aryl α-hydrazino phosphonates in excellent enantioselectivities (96 → 99% ee). Subsequent removal of the benzyloxycarbonyl (Cbz) N-protecting group afforded key building blocks en route to appealing artificial peptides, herbicides and antitumoral derivatives. Experimental and computational data support a stereochemical model based on aryl-palladium intermediates in which the phosphono hydrazone coordinates in its Z-configuration, maximizing the interactions between the substrate and the pyridine-hydrazone ligand.

Abstract
An efficient method has been developed for the synthesis of novel α-aminophosphonates (AAP) (3 a-m) through a one-pot three-component reaction of 1,3-disubstituted-1H-pyrazol-5-amine, aromatic aldehydes, and phosphite using lithium perchlorate as catalyst. All newly synthesized compounds were characterized via different spectroscopic techniques. The synthesized compounds' mode of action was investigated using molecular docking against the outer membrane protein A (OMPA) and exo-1,3-β-glucanase, with interpreting their pharmacokinetics aspects. The results of the antimicrobial effectiveness of these compounds revealed a broad spectrum of their biocidal activity and this in-vitro study was in line with the in- silico results. Additionally, it has been demonstrated that these compounds exhibited a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) with significant activity at low concentrations (7.5-30.0 mg/mL). Further, the radical scavenging (DPPH* ) activity of the synthesized compounds fluctuated, with compounds 3 h, 3 a, and 3 f showing the highest antioxidant activity. Overall, the formulated compounds can be employed as antimicrobial and antioxidant agents in medical applications.

Abstract
A series of hitherto unknown sulfonamide-incorporated α-aminophosphonate derivatives were synthesized through the one-pot, two-step FeCl3-catalyzed coupling of 4-aminobenzenesulfonamide with the appropriate benzaldehydes and diethyl phosphite. The new sulfonamides inhibition studies were performed on four carbonic anhydrase isoforms, i.e., the cytosolic human (h) hCA I and II (off-targets) as well as transmembrane cancer-related hCA IX and XII (targets). Among the synthesized compounds, derivative 23 resulted in the most selective compound against both cancer-associated isoforms over the off-target hCA I (hCA I/IX = 78; hCA I/XII = 458) and hCA II (hCA II/IX = 10; hCA II/XII = 56) and the binding mode of both enantiomers R and S was investigated in silico.

Abstract
An efficient general method for the synthesis of a wide family of α-aminophosphonate analogs of aspartic acid bearing tetrasubstituted carbons is reported through an aza-Reformatsky reaction of α-iminophosphonates, generated from α-aminophosphonates, in an umpolung process. In addition, the α-aminophosphonate substrates showed in vitro cytotoxicity, inhibiting the growth of carcinoma human tumor cell lines A549 (carcinomic human alveolar basal epithelial cell) and SKOV3 (human ovarian carcinoma). In view of the possibilities in the diversity of the substituents that offer the synthetic methodology, an extensive profile structure-activity is presented, measuring IC50 values up to 0.34 µM in the A549 and 9.8 µM in SKOV3 cell lines.

Abstract
Intramolecular hydroarylation-redox cross-dehydrogenative coupling of N-propargylanilines with phosphite diesters proceeded in the presence of Cu(I)-catalysts (20 mol%) to selectively give 2-phosphono-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolines in good yields with 100% atomic utilization. P-H and two C-H bonds are activated at once and these hydrogen atoms are trapped by a propargylic triple bond in the molecule.

Abstract
Due to their structural similarity with natural α-amino acids, α-aminophosphonic acid derivatives are known biologically active molecules. In view of the relevance of tetrasubstituted carbons in nature and medicine and the strong dependence of the biological activity of chiral molecules into their absolute configuration, the synthesis of α-aminophosphonates bearing tetrasubstituted carbons in an asymmetric fashion has grown in interest in the past few decades. In the following lines, the existing literatures for the synthesis of optically active tetrasubstituted α-aminophosphonates are summarized, comprising diastereoselective and enantioselective approaches.

Abstract
The Kabachnik-Fields reaction, comprising the condensation of an amine, oxo compound and a P-reagent (generally a >P(O)H species or trialkyl phosphite), still attracts interest due to the challenging synthetic procedures and the potential biological activity of the resulting α-aminophosphonic derivatives. Following the success of the first part (Molecules 2012, 17, 12821), here we summarize the synthetic developments in this field accumulated in the last decade. The procedures compiled include catalytic accomplishments as well as catalyst-free and/or solvent-free "greener" protocols. The products embrace α-aminophosphonates, α-aminophosphinates, and α-aminophosphine oxides along with different bis derivatives from the double phospha-Mannich approach. The newer developments of the aza-Pudovik reactions are also included.

Abstract
Several novel phosphono-perfluorophenylalanine derivatives, as mimetics of phenylalanine, were synthesized by subjecting diethyl (2-(perfluorophenyl)-1-(phenylamino)ethyl)-phosphonate to SNAr reactions with different types of nucleophiles such as thiols, amines and phenols. The structure of the products was confirmed using spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques. For two compounds X-ray single crystal diffraction analysis and DFT investigations were performed providing information in regard to the preferable conformation, hydrogen bonds and other interactions. The antiproliferative potency of some of the new phosphono-perfluorophenylalanine derivatives obtained as well as representatives of previously synthesized perfluorophenyl phosphonate analogues of phenylalanine was studied on selected glioma cell lines. Preliminary evaluation of the compounds drug likeness was examined with respect to Lipinski's and Veber's rules, and showed that they meet the criteria perfectly. MTT (3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazolyl)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide) assay results demonstrated that the compounds exhibit moderate activity against the glioblastoma multiforme cell lines (T98G and U-118 MG). Moreover most of the studied SNAr reaction products displayed significantly higher inhibitory activity against both cancer cell lines than the parent diethyl (2-(perfluorophenyl)-1-(phenylamino)ethyl)phosphonate.

Abstract
Identification and characterization of marine natural products with antimicrobial, antioxidant activity with minimal toxicity has received much interest over the past few years. Among, Acropora formosa is one of the unexplored marine organism for the screening of natural products in marine resources. In this study, a novel steroid 2-ethoxycarbonyl-2-β-hydroxy-A-nor-cholest-5-ene-4one (ECHC) was isolated from butanol extracts of A. formosa using vacuum liquid chromatography and sequentially purified by column chromatography. The chemical structure of the compound was elucidated based on spectroscopic analysis including GC-MS, 1H NMR and 13C NMR and identified as ECHC. Moreover, in vitro antioxidant activity showed that ECHC was highly scavenged the oxidative stress generative molecules. The in vitro cytotoxic activity of ECHC showed excellent activity against human breast cancer cells. Further, in vivo acute toxicity of ECHC on zebrafish Danio rerio was showed no toxicity as well as no morphological damage was observed after 21 days exposure. Histological analysis revealed that there is no apparent difference was observed between ECHC exposure and control group of D. rerio. Together, these results confirmed that ECHC has in vitro antioxidant and anticancer activity and could be developed as a potential drug against most contagious disease like cancer.
