Abstract
A "signal-on" electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor has been proposed for detecting carbohydrate antigen 153 (CA153) based on the dual MOFs sandwich strategy. The conductive and porous substrate consisting of 1T-MoS2 and two-dimensional conductive metal-organic framework (MOF, Ni-HAB) was anchored onto the glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to label the capture antibody (Ab1), and the luminescence-functionalized MOF (Ru(bpy)32+@UiO-66-NH2) was utilized to immobilize the detection second antibody (Ab2) to construct a "signal-on" responsive sandwich-type electrochemiluminescence immunoassay. Meanwhile, tripropylamine (TPA) acts as the co-reactant and provides a luminescence system for Ru(bpy)32+@UiO-66-NH2. The luminescence-functionalized MOFs showed excellent ECL activity owing to the tunable structure of MOFs. The remarkable enhancement in ECL intensity was obtained by the immunoreaction of antigen and antibody. Under the optimized conditions, the biosensor exhibited a detection limit of 0.0001 U mL-1 (S/N = 3) with a wide range from 0.001 to 50 U mL-1. The proposed ECL immunosensor was applicable for detecting human serum samples with a recovery of 99.83 ∼ 101 % (RSD < 5 %). This work demonstrates that the advantage of multifunctional MOFs could be applied to construct highly selective ECL immunosensor, and it may facilitate the diagnosis of breast cancer in clinics.

Abstract
A fluorescence-electrochemiluminescence (FL-ECL) dual-mode sensor for apoE gene detection has been developed, leveraging the unique properties of ruthenium metal organic framework nanosheets (RuMOFNSs). The system utilizes the quenching effect of the Ru(bpy)32+ ECL signal by ferrocene, leading to the synthesis of a multi-electron electrical signal marker, bisferrocene. By immobilizing the P-DNA on RuMOFNSs, bisferrocene quenches both FL and ECL signals. The addition of T-DNA and the consequent formation of double-stranded DNA enable the ExoIII enzyme to excise the bisferrocene fragment, restoring the signals. The sensor demonstrates wide detection linear ranges (1 fM to 1 nM for FL and 0.01 fM to 10 pM for ECL) and remarkable sensitivity (0.048 fM for FL and 0.016 fM for ECL). The dual-mode design offers enhanced reliability through a self-correction feature, reducing false positives. Compared to single-mode sensors, the dual-mode sensor shows significant advantages. Real-world testing confirms the sensor's capacity for robust detection in actual samples, underscoring its promising application in early disease diagnosis. This innovative approach opens up avenues for multi-signal response sensors, offering significant potential for diagnostic technologies.

Abstract
A novel competitive ECL immunosensor for detection of 17β-Estradiol (E2) has been fabricated successfully. CdSe-ZnSe nanocomposites (CdSe-ZnSe NCs) with high catalytic properties, large surface area and good conductivity were used synergistically as the ECL nanocarriers of Pt nanoparticles (PtNPs). The ECL intensity of CdSe-ZnSe NCs increased and stabilized with luminol-PtNPs (luminol-PtNPs@CdSe-ZnSe NCs) because of electron transfer. To achieve the successful assembling of competitive ultrasensitive ECL immunosensor with high sensitivity and synergistic effect, Ag@TiO2 core-shell was introduced as label. Ag@TiO2 acted as a signal amplifier and also exhibited the high catalytic activity towards H2O2. This firmly anchored the E2 Antigen with covalent bond and converted the longer wavelength radiations to shorter wavelength. Under optimized conditions, our proposed strategy quantify the selective and reliable analysis of E2 with detection limit of 2.51 fg/mL (S/N = 3) within the linear range of 0.0001-30 ng/mL. The assembled synergistic strategy-based ECL immunosensor manifested the promising sensitivity, selectability along with high level of repeatability. Thus, the fabricated ECL immunosensor has potential valuable application for E2 detection along with many other environmental pollutants.

Abstract
Monitoring the levels of cancer biomarkers is essential for cancer diagnosis and evaluation. In this study, a novel sandwich type sensing platform based on surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) technology was developed for the detection of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA), with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.258 ng/mL. In order to achieve sensitive detection of CEA in complex samples, gold nanoparticle monolayer modified with CEA antibodies and with aptamer-functionalized probes was fabricated to target CEA. Two gold layers were integrated into the SERS platform, which greatly enhanced the signal of the probe by generating tremendous "hot spots". Meanwhile, the intensity ratio of Raman probes and the second-order peak of the silicon wafer was used to achieve dynamic calibration of the Raman probe signal. Excitingly, this sensing platform was capable of distinguishing cancer patients from healthy individuals via CEA concentrations in blood samples with the accuracy of 100%. This sandwich structure SERS sensing platform presented promising potential to be an alternative tool for clinical biomarker detection in the field of cancer diagnosis.

Abstract
A "signal-on" photoelectrochemical (PEC) immunosensor was successfully constructed for determination of human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) based on organic-inorganic heterojunction Y6/CdS as photoactive material. Compared with single organic semiconductor, Y6, Y6/CdS exhibited higher photoelectric conversion efficiency due to the formation of heterojunction. In the presence of HER2, sandwich immune structure was formed between HER2 aptamer and anti-HER2 antibody (Ab) by specific recognition. The polydopamine (PDA) nanoparticles were used for signal amplification to enhance photocurrent intensity as PDA can act as electron donor to eliminate holes and promote electron-hole pairs separation. The developed PEC sensor displayed a wide detection range of 5-1000 pg mL-1 and a low detection limit of 2.2 pg mL-1 for HER2 (S/N = 3). The sensor was successfully used for the detection of HER2 in serum with recoveries between 94.8 and 104% and relative standard deviations (RSDs) in the range of 1.2-4.3%. Furthermore, the designed immunosensor possessed good stability, selectivity, and reproducibility, which can find potential clinical applications for disease diagnosis. A "signal-on" photoelectrochemical sensor was reported for human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 detection based on Y6/CdS organic-inorganic heterojunction.

Abstract
Porous nanomaterials have attracted much attention in the field of electrochemiluminescence (ECL) analysis research because of their large specific surface area, high porosity, possession of multiple functional groups, and ease of modification. Porous nanomaterials can not only serve as good carriers for loading ECL luminophores to prepare nanomaterials with excellent luminescence properties, but they also have a good electrical conductivity to facilitate charge transfer and substance exchange between electrode surfaces and solutions. In particular, some porous nanomaterials with special functional groups or centered on metals even possess excellent catalytic properties that can enhance the ECL response of the system. ECL composites prepared based on porous nanomaterials have a wide range of applications in the field of ECL biosensors due to their extraordinary ECL response. In this paper, we reviewed recent research advances in various porous nanomaterials commonly used to fabricate ECL biosensors, such as ordered mesoporous silica (OMS), metal-organic frameworks (MOFs), covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and metal-polydopamine frameworks (MPFs). Their applications in the detection of heavy metal ions, small molecules, proteins and nucleic acids are also summarized. The challenges and prospects of constructing ECL biosensors based on porous nanomaterials are further discussed. We hope that this review will provide the reader with a comprehensive understanding of the development of porous nanomaterial-based ECL systems in analytical biosensors and materials science.

Abstract
The biofunctionalization of graphene field-effect transistors (GFETs) through vinylsulfonated-polyethyleneimine nanoscaffold is presented for enhanced biosensing of severe acute respiratory-related coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) spike protein and human ferritin, two targets of great importance for the rapid diagnostic and monitoring of individuals with COVID-19. The heterobifunctional nanoscaffold enables covalent immobilization of binding proteins and antifouling polymers while the whole architecture is attached to graphene by multivalent π-π interactions. First, to optimize the sensing platform, concanavalin A is employed for glycoprotein detection. Then, monoclonal antibodies specific against SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and human ferritin are anchored, yielding biosensors with limit of detections of 0.74 and 0.23 nm, and apparent affinity constants (K D G F E T ) of 6.7 and 8.8 nm, respectively. Both biosensing platforms show good specificity, fast time response, and wide dynamic range (0.1-100 nm). Moreover, SARS-CoV-2 spike protein is also detected in spiked nasopharyngeal swab samples. To rigorously validate this biosensing technology, the GFET response is matched with surface plasmon resonance measurements, exhibiting linear correlations (from 2 to 100 ng cm-2) and good agreement in terms of K D values. Finally, the performance of the biosensors fabricated through the nanoscaffold strategy is compared with those obtained through the widely employed monopyrene approach, showing enhanced sensitivity.

Abstract
A self-powered photoelectrochemical (PEC) aptasensor was constructed based on MIL-68(In) derived indium oxide hollow nanotubes (In2O3 HNs) and Ag-doped ZnIn2S4 quantum dots (QDs) as sensing matrix for the ultrasensitive detection of oxytetracycline (OTC). The hollow tube structure of the designed photoelectric active platform provided abundant active sites and a larger specific surface area for the immobilization of target recognition unit. The coupling of Ag:ZnIn2S4 QDs and In2O3 HNs can accelerate the transmit and separation of photoinduced charge, and thus greatly increasing the intensity of photocurrent signal. Then, the well-constructed OTC-aptamer was anchored on the modified photoelectrode as an accurate capturing element, achieving the specific detection of analyte. Under optimal conditions, the photocurrent intensity of the PEC aptasensor decreases linearly, with a linear response range of 10-4 -10 nmol/L, and a limit of detection (LOD) of 3.3 × 10-5 nmol/L (S/N = 3). The developed self-powered aptasensor with excellent reproducibility, stability, and selectivity, provides a potential way to detect antibiotic residues in environmental media.

In this paper, we constructed a sandwich-type photoelectrochemical (PEC) immunosensor for the quantitative detection of procalcitonin (PCT) based on the sensitization of Mn2+ doped CdS (CdS:Mn) nanocomposites to Bi2WO6 and the signal amplification effect of an upconversion material NaYF4:Yb,Tm. Bi2WO6 was synthesized with a three-dimensional flowered structure. CdS:Mn reduced the recombination of photogenerated carriers, and significantly improved photocurrent response. Lanthanide-doped upconversion nanomaterials were used as the label of secondary antibody. NaYF4:Yb,Tm have two functions, not only connected with the secondary antibody, but also can further amplify the photocurrent response. The proposed immunosensor for detecting PCT provided a desired linear range of 0.5 pg mL-1-100 ng mL-1 and a detection limit of 0.13 pg mL-1 under optimal experimental conditions. Besides, the PEC immunosensor demonstrated good reproducibility, specificity and stability. The results of determination of PCT in real human serum samples were satisfactory. Thus, the immunosensor may be applied in the clinical diagnosis of PCT and other biomarkers.

Abstract
A novel near-infrared (NIR)-excited photoelectrochemical (PEC) immunosensor based on an ionic liquid functionalized metal organic framework (Yb-MOF) and gold nanoparticles (Au-NPs) was designed for the high-performance determination of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The Yb-MOF was synthesized from the coordination of the Yb3+ metal ion with the 1,1'-(1,5-dihydropyrene-2,7-diyl)bis(3-(4-carboxybenzyl)-1H-imidazol-3-ium) bromide [DDPDBCBIm(Br)2] ionic liquid by a hydrothermal method. To improve the photoelectric conversion efficiency of the Yb-MOF in the NIR region, the surface of the Yb-MOF was integrated with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) to fabricate a Yb-MOF@AuNP nanocomposite through an in situ reduction of chloroauric acid with sodium borohydride. The NIR photoelectrochemical response of the Yb-MOF@AuNPs at 808 nm was enhanced 4-fold over the pristine Yb-MOF. Subsequently, a photoelectrochemical platform based on the Yb-MOF@AuNPs was constructed for loading the CEA antibody (anti-CEA). After cross-linking with glutaraldehyde followed by blocking with bovine serum albumin, a photoelectrochemical sensor for assaying CEA was fabricated. Upon specifically interacting with CEA, CEA can block the photogenerated electron-hole pair transfer and the mass transfer of ascorbic acid to the sensing interface, thus leading to a decrease in photocurrent response. The photocurrent variation can be used for determining CEA quantitatively. After optimizing the experimental conditions, the photocurrent variations before and after incubation with CEA were linearly correlated with the CEA concentration over the range of 0.005-15 ng mL-1. The detection limit of CEA was calculated to be 0.25 pg mL-1 (S/N = 3). The immunosensor was employed for the measurement of free CEA in clinical serum samples, and the results were very consistent with the values obtained by clinical tests. The NIR PEC immunosensor also demonstrated excellent accuracy and recovery, which corroborates its potential as a practical technique in clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
A sandwich-type electrochemiluminescence (ECL) immunosensor based on the resonance energy transfer (RET) was proposed for ultrasensitive detection of cardiac troponin I (cTnI). The RET behavior could be generated between graphite carbon nitride nanosheets (m-CNNS) as donor and copper oxide@graphene oxide (CuO@GO) as acceptor, achieving the quenching effect of CuO@GO on m-CNNS for cTnI detection. The m-CNNS synthesized by mechanical grinding of the graphite carbon nitride (CN) not only has better dispersion and higher specific surface area, but also has high luminous efficiency and stable chemical properties. Therefore, m-CNNS was used as the matrix material and luminophore. As the acceptor, CuO@GO prepared by in-situ chemical synthesis of CuO NPs onto GO sheets also has a high specific surface area, which could be used as a label of secondary antibody (Ab2). Under optimal conditions, cTnI could be determined within the linear range of 0.1 pg mL-1 to 100 ng mL-1 and had a low detection limit (0.028 pg mL-1, S/N = 3). Meanwhile, the prepared ECL immunosensor possessed great stability, specificity and reproducibility, providing a new method for detecting cTnI and other biomarkers.

Abstract
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1), one of the most toxic mycotoxins, has undergone a wide range of studies over the years. The development of rapid, simple, and sensitive analytical methods remains a major challenge for the accurate detection of AFB1 in foodstuffs. In this study, we designed an enhanced and stable ingenious electrochemiluminescence bioaptasensor (IEC-BA) for ultrasensitive detection of AFB1 based on the synergistic effects and enzyme-driven programmable assembled 3D DNA nanoflowers (EPDNs). This synergistic effect was comprised by the competitive impact on auxiliary probes (AP) and the cutting effect of the Hae III. Compared to the traditional aptamer direct-competition method, the synergistic effects ensured that the aptamer was more efficiently and adequately competed away by the target. Also, the redundant double-stranded probes were removed, which greatly facilitates simple, quick, and sensitive detection of AFB1. Besides, a large chunk of positively charged Ru(II) complexes (Ru(bpy)32+) was accumulated by the utilization of EPDNs, which resulted in tremendous improvement of the sensitivity of the designed method. Thus, even in the presence of trace amounts of AFB1, a sharply visual electrochemiluminescent signal was generated. The proposed method can realize the quantification of AFB1 with a good linear range from 1 ppt (pg mL-1) to 5 ppb (ng mL-1) with a detection limit of 0.27 ppt. In addition, it can also be successfully applied for the analysis of AFB1 in a peanut and wheat, with total recoveries ranging from 93.7 to 106.6%. Furthermore, the IEC-BA also exhibited good selectivity, reproducibility, and stability, revealing prospective applications of food safety monitoring and environmental analysis.

Abstract
Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) as porous materials have attracted much attention in various fields such as gas storage, catalysis, separation, and nanomedical engineering. However, their applications in electrochemiluminescence (ECL) biosensing are limited due to the poor conductivity, lack of modification sites, low stability and specificity, and weak biocompatibility. Integrating the functional materials into MOF structures endows MOF composites with improved conductivity and stability and facilitates the design of ECL sensors with multifunctional MOFs, which are potentially advantageous over their individual components. This review summarizes the strategies for designing ECL-active MOF composites including using luminophore as a ligand, in situ encapsulation of luminophore within the framework, and post-synthetic modification. As-prepared MOF composites can serve as innovative emitters, luminophore carriers, electrode modification materials and co-reaction accelerators in ECL biosensors. The sensing applications of ECl-active MOF composites in the past five years are highlighted including immunoassays, genosensors, and small molecule detection. Finally, the prospects and challenges associated with MOF composites and their related materials for ECL biosensing are tentatively proposed.

Abstract
The robust and strong electrochemiluminescence (ECL) emission of organic emitters in an aqueous solution is crucial for expanding their applications in early diagnosis. Herein, a Zn porphyrin-based metal-organic framework ((Zn)porphMOF) was facilely obtained by chelating Zn(ii)meso-tetra (4-sulfonatophenyl) porphine (Zn-TSPP) with Zn ions, showing substantially enhanced ECL radiation with K2S2O8 as the coreactant via the "reduction-oxidation" route in aqueous media. In contrast with Zn-TSPP, (Zn)porphMOF displayed 22-fold increase in the ECL intensity because of the agglomeration effect. By virtue of the dramatic confinement towards the energy and electron transfer of ascorbic acid (AA) during the ECL process, an ultrasensitive biosensor was developed with a wide linear range (3.77 to 26.4 μM) and ultra-low detection limit of 0.29 μM at 3 times of the signal-to-noise ratio (3S/N). This work offers a feasible avenue to harvest the steady and boosted ECL responses of organic molecules in aqueous media, also greatly expanding the MOF applications in bioanalysis.

Abstract
Electrochemical sensors based on antibody-antigen recognition events are commonly used for the rapid, label-free, and sensitive detection of various analytes. However, various parameters at the bioelectronic interface, i.e., before and after the probe (such as an antibody) assembly onto the electrode, have a dominant influence on the underlying detection performance of analytes (such as an antigen). In this work, we thoroughly investigate the dependence of the bioelectronic interface characteristics on parameters that have not been investigated in depth: the antibody density on the electrode’s surface and the antigen incubation time. For this important aim, we utilized the sensitive non-faradaic electrochemical impedance spectroscopy method. We showed that as the incubation time of the antigen-containing drop solution increased, a decrease was observed in both the solution resistance and the diffusional resistance with reflecting boundary elements, as well as the capacitive magnitude of a constant phase element, which decreased at a rate of 160 ± 30 kΩ/min, 800 ± 100 mΩ/min, and 520 ± 80 pF × s(α-1)/min, respectively. Using atomic force microscopy, we also showed that high antibody density led to thicker electrode coating than low antibody density, with root-mean-square roughness values of 2.2 ± 0.2 nm versus 1.28 ± 0.04 nm, respectively. Furthermore, we showed that as the antigen accumulated onto the electrode, the solution resistance increased for high antibody density and decreased for low antibody density. Finally, the antigen detection performance test yielded a better limit of detection for low antibody density than for high antibody density (0.26 μM vs 2.2 μM). Overall, we show here the importance of these two factors and how changing one parameter can drastically affect the desired outcome. Graphical abstract ![]()

Abstract
A competitive-type PEC immunosensor for 17β-estradiol (E2) detection was successfully fabricated using ZnIn2S4@NH2-MIL-125(Ti) composite as matrix. The excellent PEC behavior of ZnIn2S4@NH2-MIL-125(Ti) composite could be attributed to that the Ti4+-Ti3+ intervalence cycles in the titanium oxo-cluster of NH2-MIL-125(Ti) as well as the matching energy level between ZnIn2S4 and NH2-MIL-125(Ti) promote the migration and separation of photocarrier. Besides, polydopamine (PDA) with abundant amino- and quinone-groups was selected to further improve the PEC signals and capture antibody, which implement through the covalent bonding of PDA and BSA-E2 or carboxyl-group functionalized Mn:ZnCdS QDs in the competitive-type strategy. Concretely, the quinone functional groups in PDA film was applied to immobilize BSA-E2 through Michael reactions, and the PDA nanosphere loaded Mn:ZnCdS quantum dot (PDA NS/Mn:ZnCdS QDs) was used as antibodies' labels to amplify PEC signals. After PDA NS/Mn:ZnCdS-anti-E2 immobilized on the modified electrode, a remarkable increase of photocurrent signal was observed owing to the specific bonding of antigen and antibody. Based on the competitive binding of PDA NS/Mn:ZnCdS-anti-E2 with either free E2 or bovine serum albumin (BSA)-E2 causing the change of the photocurrent signal, the standard sample free E2 could be accuracy detect. Under optimal conditions, the competitive-type PEC immunosensor exhibited the linear range from 0.0005 ng/mL to 20 ng/mL and a limit detection of 0.3 pg/mL (S/N = 3). Meanwhile, the acceptable stability, selectivity and reproducibility of the proposed PEC immunosensing platform indicating the promising detection of small molecular environmental pollutants.

Abstract
Electrochemiluminescence (ECL)-functionalized metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have attracted increasing attention in biosensing in virtue of their diverse and tunable optical properties. A famous ECL luminophore, carboxyl-rich tris(4,4'-dicarboxylic acid-2,2'-bipyridyl) ruthenium(II) (Ru(dcbpy)32+), possesses the characteristics of good water solubility and excellent ECL performance and also has the potential to be the organic ligand of metal-organic frameworks. Herein, functionalized MOF nanosheets (RuMOFNSs) containing plenty of Ru(dcbpy)32+ in the frameworks were synthesized in aqueous solution by a simple one-pot method. In this protocol, Ru(dcbpy)32+ acted as organic ligand to coordinate with Zn2+ originated from Zn(NO3)2, and polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) was used as structure-directing agent to control the formation of sheetlike structure. For practical application, a "signal-on" ECL immunosensor was designed for cardiac troponin I (cTnI) detection by employing RuMOFNSs as ECL probe. The immunosensor exhibited high sensitivity and excellent selectivity for cTnI detection in the range from 1 fg/mL to 10 ng/mL with a detection limit as low as 0.48 fg/mL. Finally, the biosensor was successfully applied for the detection of cTnI in human serum sample with satisfactory results, demonstrating its potential application in bioanalysis and clinical diagnosis.

Abstract
As a newly emerged photoactive material, Cu2MoS4 has motivated wide research interests in the field of photoelectrochemistry. Based on manganese doped CdS (CdS:Mn) sensitized graphene (G)/Cu2MoS4 composite, we developed a label-free photoelectrochemical (PEC) immunosensor for the detection of cardiac troponin I (cTnI). G as an excellent 2D conductive material, combined with Cu2MoS4 could improve its charge transfer efficiency. CdS:Mn nanoparticles (NPs) loaded on G/Cu2MoS4 further enlarged the light absorption range of Cu2MoS4 and restrained the electron-hole pairs recombination. Under optimal conditions, the proposed PEC immunosensor responded sensitively to cTnI with a low detection limit of 0.18 pg/mL and a wide linear range (0.005-1000 ng/mL). Moreover, as-fabricated immunosensor also exhibited high sensitivity, excellent selectivity and good stability. This work also was extended to real samples analysis and obtained satisfied results.

Abstract
A sensitive sandwich electrochemiluminescence immunosensor was established by employing graphene oxide-PEI-carbon quantum dots (CQDs)-Au nanohybrid as probe to measure carbohydrate antigen 15-3 (CA15-3), a breast cancer biomarker. In this work, nanocomposites of Ag nanoparticles and polydopamine (AgNPs-PDA) were synthesized by redox reaction between dopamine and Ag+. The nanocomposite with high surface area can provide an efficient substrate for immobilizing initial antibody (Ab1). Carbon quantum dots (CQDs) are fixed on polyethylenimine-functionalized graphene oxide (PEI-GO) by amide bonds. Au nanoparticles are modified on CQDs-decorated PEI-GO substrates. The secondary antibody (Ab2) was immobilized by AuNPs/CQDs-PEI-GO composite. CQDs can be assembled onto the surface of an electrode by incorporation of CA15-3 with Ab1 and Ab2. Under the synergistic action of AgNPs, polydopamine, AuNPs, and PEI-GO, the ECL signal of CQDs is greatly amplified as an excellent conductive material to facilitate electron transfer rate and further increase electrochemical detection capability. Under optimal conditions, the fabricated immunosensor showed a linear concentration range from 0.005 to 500 U mL-1, with a detection limit of 0.0017 U mL-1 (signal-to-noise ratio of 3) for CA15-3. The designed ECL immunosensor displayed receivable accuracy, excellent stability, and high specificity. The results of the detection of human serum samples are satisfactory, revealing that the method offers a potential application for the clinical diagnosis of tumor markers.

Abstract
Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) is a commonly used biomarker for the detection of prostate cancer (PCa) and there are numerous data available for its invasive detection in the serum and whole blood. In this work, an electrochemical sensing method was devised to detect traces of PSA in human saliva using a hybrid nanocomposite of graphene nanoplatelets with diblock co-polymers and Au electrodes (GRP-PS67-b-PAA27-Au). The pure graphitic composition on filter paper provides significantly high electrical and thermal conductivity while PS67-b-PAA27 makes an amphiphilic bridge between GRP units. The sensor utilizes the binding of an anti-PSA antibody with an antigen-PSA to act as a resistor in a circuit providing an impedance change that in turn allows for the detection and quantification of PSA in saliva samples. A miniaturized electrical impedance analyzer was interfaced with a sensor chip and the data were recorded in real-time using a Bluetooth-enabled module. This fully integrated and optimized sensing device exhibited a wide PSA range of detection from 0.1 pg mL-1 to 100 ng mL-1 (R2 = 0.963) with a lower limit of detection of 40 fg mL-1. The performance of the biosensor chip was validated with an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay technique with a regression coefficient as high as 0.940. The advantages of the newly developed saliva-PSA electrical biosensor over previously reported serum-PSA electrochemical biosensors include a faster response time (3-5 min) to achieve a stable electrical signal for PSA detection, high selectivity, improved sensitivity, no additional requirement of a redox electrolyte for electron exchange and excellent shelf life. The presented sensor is aimed for clinical commercialization to detect PSA in human saliva.

Abstract
Herein, we explore a new carbon source for preparation of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) with controllable composition using a porous organic polymer (POP) derived porous carbon via a nitric acid oxidation method. The POP used for the preparation of CQDs was synthesized by mechanochemical Friedel–Crafts alkylation under solvent free conditions. Using the as-prepared CQDs, we develop a simple and effective electrochemiluminescence (ECL) detection method for dopamine (DA) using a CQD/chitosan–graphene composite modified glassy carbon electrode (GCE). Both the electrochemical and ECL behaviors were studied in detail with ammonium persulfate as a coreactant. The complementary structure and synergistic function of the composite give the ECL sensor special properties. Apart from the high stability, it also presents good repeatability and high sensitivity to DA with a wide linear range from 0.06 to 1.6 μM. And a satisfactory detection limit of 0.028 μM (S/N = 3) was achieved for the prepared sensor. Furthermore, the ECL also shows high selectivity toward DA with an excellent interference resistance ability at a high concentration ratio of 100 (Cinterference : CDA = 100). In addition, the ECL sensor was successfully applied for effective detection and quantitative analysis of the actual dopamine in human body fluids for disease diagnosis and pathological studies. CQDs were obtained from a POP derived porous carbon via nitric acid oxidation. CQDs/CG composite film with special properties were fabricated and used for ECL detection of DA in human body fluids.![]()

Abstract
A renewable electrochemical aptasensor was proposed for super-sensitive determination of Hg2+. The novel aptasensor, based on sulfur-nitrogen codoped ordered mesoporous carbon (SN-OMC) and thymine-Hg2+-thymine (T-Hg2+-T) mismatch structure, used ferrocene as signal molecules to achieve the conversion of current signals. In the absence of Hg2+, the thiol-modified T-rich probe 1 spontaneously formed a hairpin structure by base pairing. After being hybridized with the ferrocene-labeled probe 2 in the presence of Hg2+, the hairpin structure of probe 1 was opened due to the preferential formation of the T-Hg2+-T mismatch structure, and the ferrocene signal molecules approached the modified electrode surface. SN-OMC with high specific surface area and ample active sites acted as a signal amplification element in electrochemical sensing. The sensitive determination of Hg2+ can be actualized by analyzing the relationship between the change of oxidation current caused by ferrocene signal molecules and the Hg2+ concentrations. The aptasensor had a fine linear correlation in the range of 0.001-1000 nM with a detection limit of 0.45 pM. The aptasensor also displayed a good response in real sample detection and provided a promising possibility for in situ detection.

Abstract
Ultra-thin zirconia (ZrO2) nanocrystal films were fabricated by using a controlled dip-coating process. ZrO2 nanocrystals possess a cubic crystalline phase and large surface-to-volume area. The film composite with only several layers of nanocrystals were obtained by controlling the withdrawal speed and mass concentration of the colloidal solution. The optical properties of ZrO2 nanocrystal films were accessed by UV-vis spectroscopy, which indicated the dense and uniform structure of the nanocrystal films. The high reflection index suggested that the films could be used in the reflection coating industry. Furthermore, a micro-pattern of self-assembled monolayers of silane molecular was used as a chemical mold for selective deposition of ZrO2 nanocrystals. As a result, a self-assembly patterning of ZrO2 nanocrystals with a neat edge was fabricated on silicon substrate. The low-cost fabricating method is compatible with conventional very-large-scale integration processes and can be extended to other kinds of nanocrystals.

Abstract
Herein, a novel magnetic biocomposite (Fe3O4@Au-S1/S2) was applied to analyze thrombin. The Fe3O4@Au-S1/S2 consisted of Fe3O4@Au nanoparticles (Fe3O4@Au NPs) as carriers for magnetic separation and magnetic field-induced self-assembly, thiolated complementary strand (S1) anchored based on Au-S bond and thrombin binding aptamer (S2) as a recognition element. As a redox indicator, methylene blue (MB) can be adsorbed to DNA anchored on the surface of Fe3O4@Au NPs by electro-static interaction. In the absence of thrombin, MB were adsorbed on double-stranded DNA (S1/S2) which anchored on Fe3O4@Au NPs and a high electrochemical signal of MB was recorded by Differential pulse voltammetry. Conversely, the complementary strand (S1) exposed after thrombin competitively bonded with aptamer. The introduction of Pb2+-dependent DNAzyme (S3) split S1 at specific rA site, resulting in the significantly decreased adsorption capacity of MB. Thus, the thrombin detection could be recorded by monitoring the electrochemical signal reduction of MB through incubation of thrombin with S3. This method exhibited a high sensitivity toward thrombin with a broad linear range from 5 pmol L-1 to 5 nmol L-1 and a limit of detection of 1.8 pmol L-1.

Abstract
A novel wireless immunosensor is developed for the ultra-sensitive detection of carcinoembryonic antigen. The optimum dimension of the microchips, as magnetoelastic sensitive units, was evaluated by simulation and experiments. The unique effects signal amplification and biocompatibility of gold particles contribute to the stability and sensitivity of the sensor. Furthermore, to enhance sensitivity, the working concentrations of antibody and BSA are selected to be 50 mg/mL and 0.1%, respectively. Atom force microscope imaging sheds light on the biological analysis. The Nano-magnetoelastic immunosensor exhibits a linear response to the logarithm of carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) concentrations ranging from 0.1 to 100 ng/mL, with a detection limit of 2.5 pg/mL. The designed biosensor has merits of excellent stability and sensitivity towards CEA.
