Abstract
Introduction The worldwide annual incidence of carcinomas of the sinonasal tract is 0.5 to 1.0 patients per 100,000 per year. P63 plays a role in epithelial development and is used as a marker for basal and myoepithelial cells. Expression of p16 occurs as a result of functional inactivation of the retinoblastoma protein (pRb) by the human papilloma virus (HPV) E7 protein. Aims This study aims to study the histological spectrum of benign and malignant sinonasal mass lesions and to study the immunohistochemical expression of p63 in different type of sinonasal mass lesions. It also aims to ascertain the incidence of high-risk HPV in primary sinonasal mass lesions with p16 immunohistochemistry and delineate the histological spectrum of HPV-related sinonasal lesions. Materials and Methods This cross-sectional study was conducted on 80 cases from June 2018 to June 2020 at a tertiary care hospital. Clinical history including demographic parameters were collected in the study proforma. The gross findings of the specimens noted and histopathological examination by H&E staining done. Immunohistochemistry staining for p63 and p16 expression was performed on all cases. Results Most common age group affected was 41-60 years with male:female ratio of 1.67:1. Nonneoplastic lesions (38.7%) comprised majority of the cases followed by benign neoplastic lesions (31.3%) and malignant neoplastic lesions (30%). Among the malignant neoplastic lesions, p63 showed positive expression in 75% (p = 0.005) and p16 showed positive expression in 41.7% (p = 0.023). Among benign and nonneoplastic lesions, p63 showed positivity in 21.4% (p = 0.000) and p16 showed positivity in 44.6% (p = 0.040). Conclusion We analyzed p63 and p16 expression in varied lineages like carcinomas, papillomas, and neuroectodermal differentiation arising from the sinonasal tract and also in relation to other clinicopathological parameters. This study revealed p63 expression was associated more with the squamous cell carcinomas and nasopharyngeal carcinomas. Sinonasal tract malignancies are also associated with HPV infections that are identifiable by p16 immunostaining and, thus, could provide new prospects in identifying any definite biological and clinical characteristics associated with HPV as well as advancement in the targeted therapies for this patient population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to evaluate p16, p53, EGFR, pEGFR protein expression and HPV infection as possible markers of tumor progression in a series of sinonasal inverted papilloma (SNIP) and sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma (SNSCC). METHODS A series of 49 SNIP, 11 SNSCC associated with SNIP (SNIP-SNSCC) and 52 SNSCC not associated with SNIP were analyzed for p16, p53, EGFR, and phosphorylated EGFR (pEGFR) expression by immunohistochemistry. Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection status was evaluated by DNA-PCR. Results were correlated to clinical and follow-up data. RESULTS Reduced or loss of p16 expression was observed in 18% SNIP, 64% SNIP-SNSCC and 87% of SNSCC. Reduced or loss p16 staining in SNIP correlated with shorter recurrent SNIP-free follow-up. In contrast, p16 expression was not predictive of recurrent SNSCC in cases with SNIP-SNSCC and SNSCC. P53, EGFR, and pEGFR expression did not differ between the tumor groups, nor were they related to recurrent SNIP-free follow-up or recurrent SNSCC. Oncogenic HPV types 16 and 18 were detected in 5% of SNIP and 18% of SNIP-SNSCC, but not in SNSCC. There was no correlation between HPV infection and >70% p16 immunostaining. CONCLUSIONS HPV infection appears to play a minor role in SNIP and SNSCC and p16 immunostaining does not appear a valid surrogate marker for HPV. However, reduced or loss p16 expression may have prognostic value as a risk marker for recurrent SNIP.

Abstract
Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a novel class of potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for the treatment of neoplasms. The purpose of this study was to explore the expression profile, potential functions, and diagnostic and clinical significance of lncRNAs in sinonasal inverted papilloma (SNIP). The expression profiles of lncRNAs and mRNAs were analyzed using a microarray. The potential functions and clinical implications of specific lncRNAs were further analyzed by bioinformatics and statistical methods. Microarray analysis identified 1,668 significantly upregulated and 1,767 downregulated lncRNAs in SNIP. Several mRNAs coexpressed with lncRNAs were enriched in some biological processes and cellular signaling pathways related to tumorigenesis. Lnc-AKTIP might interact with a variety of tumor-associated proteins and transcription factors, such as PCBP2, IRF-1, and p53. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis for lnc-AKTIP showed an area under the curve of 0.939. Notably, its expression level was significantly decreased in SNIP tissues versus normal tissues and was associated with SNIP staging. Lnc-AKTIP may serve as a valuable diagnostic biomarker and a therapeutic target for SNIP.

Abstract
We describe the first case of ethmoid metastasis from an oropharyngeal human papillomavirus-induced squamous cell carcinoma using the anti-P16 immunohistochemistry. The p16 overexpression can be a valuable aid in the differential diagnosis.

Abstract
Sinonasal papillomas are rare, usually benign tumors arising from the Schneiderian membrane. Human papillomaviruses (HPV) can infect differentiating skin and mucosal cells and can induce uncontrolled growth patterns. Their effect on development of sinonasal papillomas has been discussed controversially in recent years. A monocentric, retrospective study was conducted to investigate histopathologic features of sinonasal papillomas and to establish an assay for HPV detection and genotyping in papillomas. Schneiderian papillomas are divided into three groups according to histopathologic features: the largest group are inverted papillomas, followed by fungiform (exophytic) and oncocytic papillomas. HPV screening was performed with high sensitivity by PCR employing My09/11 and 125 consensus primers. Adding a third primer pair (GP5+/GP6+) d increase sensitivity. Reverse hybridization microarrays achieved HPV genotyping better than pyrosequencing in our setting. HPV infection rates were higher in papillomas (46.7%) than infection rates reported for healthy mucosa (up to 13%). P16(INK4a) was not a reliable surrogate marker for HPV infection in sinonasal papillomas. Data from our study endorses the hypothesis that HPV infection promotes formation of sinonasal papillomas. However, apart from HPV genotypes that are frequently found in e.g. anogenital lesions (such as 6, 11, or 16), tissue samples of sinonasal papillomas also displayed infection with "rare" HPV types (such as 58, 42, 83, or 91).
