Abstract
INTRODUCTION Trunk motion during walking acts as a biomarker for decreased mobility and can differ between sexes. Knowing how age and sex affect trunk motion and energy conservation can help clinicians decide when and in whom to intervene with physiotherapy to prolong functional mobility. METHODS A large sample of 138 able-bodied males and females in the age-categories 20-39 years, 40-59 years, 60-69 years, 70-79 years, and 80-89 years received a full-body 3D gait analysis. A two-factor ANOVA was performed to examine the effect of age and sex and their interaction on 3D trunk kinematics and positive mechanical work of the lower limbs, head-arms-trunk (HAT) segment and whole body. RESULTS A significant decrease in walking speed was only found in those above 80 years (~ .05 nm/s, p < .006), while changes in 3D trunk kinematics were observed earlier. From 60 years on, trunk rotations decreased (~ 2-3°, p < .05), from 70-year frontal pelvic motion (~ 4°, p < .001), and from the age of 80 years sagittal thorax motion (~ 1-6°, p < .05). There were only small aging effects for mechanical energy demands that were more pronounced in females, showing decreased of HAT contributions (p = .020). Furthermore, age-related differences in trunk kinematics are highly dependent on sex whereby age-related changes were observed sooner in females than males in all three planes of motion. CONCLUSIONS Age-related differences in 3D trunk kinematics are observed from 60 years onward and increase with age. Age-related stiffening of the trunk did not seem to affect the body's total mechanical work. Importantly, our data did show a stark contrast between males and females, indicating that training to prolong mobility should be tailored to sex. Future research should include sex-matched data when examining normal age and pathologic gait decline.

Abstract
RATIONALE The physiotherapy profession strives to be a leader in providing quality care and strongly recognizes the value of research to guide clinical practice. Adherence to guidelines for research reporting and conduct is a significant step towards high-quality, transparent and reproducible research. AIM/OBJECTIVE Assess integrity between planned and conducted methodology in randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and systematic reviews (SRs) published in physiotherapy journals. METHODS Eighteen journals were manually searched for RCTs and SRs published from 1 July 2021 through 31 December 2021. Studies were included if the journal or specific study was indexed in PubMed and published/translated in English. Descriptive statistics determined congruence between preregistration data and publication. RESULTS Forty RCTs and 68 SRs were assessed. Forty-three SRs included meta-analysis (MA). Of the 34 registered RCTs, 7 (20.6%) had no discrepancy between the registration and publication. Two trials (5.9%) addressed all discrepancies, 4 (11.8%) addressed some and 21 (61.8%) did not address any discrepancies. Of the 36 registered MAs, 33 (91.7%) had discrepancies between the registration and publication. Two (5.6%) addressed all discrepancies and three (8.3%) had no discrepancies. Eight SRs without MA published information not matching their registration, and none provided justification for the discrepancies. CONCLUSION Most RCTs/SRs were registered; the majority had discrepancies between preregistration and publication, potentially influencing the outcomes and interpretations of findings. Journals should require preregistration and compare the submission with the registration information when assessing publication suitability. Readers should be aware of these inconsistencies and their implications when interpreting and translating results into practice.

Abstract
Somatic dysfunction (SD) is an altered body function involving the musculoskeletal system. However, its clinical signs-tissue texture abnormalities, positional asymmetry, restricted range of motion, and tissue tenderness-did not achieve satisfactory results for reliability. A recent theoretical model proposed a revision assessing the movement variability around the joint rest position. The asymmetry and restriction of motion may characterize functional assessment in osteopathic clinical practice, demonstrating the reliability required. Hence, this study investigated the reliability of the new variability model (VM) with gait analysis (GA). Three blind examiners tested 27 young healthy subjects for asymmetry of motion around rest position and the SD grade on six body regions. The results were compared to the VICON procedure for 3D-GA. The inter-rater agreement for the detection of reduced movement variability ranged from 0.78 to 0.54, whereas for SD, grade ranged from 0.64 to 0.47. VM had a sensitivity and specificity of 0.62 and 0.53, respectively, in SD detection compared to step length normality. Global severity grade of SD demonstrated moderate to good correlation with spatial-temporal parameters. The VM showed palpatory reliability and validity with spatial-temporal parameters in GA. Those findings contribute to the innovation for SD examination with implications for the clinical practice.

Abstract
Stroke remains a leading cause of adult disability, and it decreases the health-related quality of life due to functional disability and poor functional recovery in stroke. Tai Ji has been recently introduced to overcome disabilities. This review aims to explain the effects of Tai Ji on functional recovery in stroke patients, linking it to current approaches, concepts and therapies such as Bobath and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation techniques. A compilation of recent literature on Tai Ji's use in stroke rehabilitation from Google scholar and PubMed Central (2018 to 2022). The benefits of Tai Ji in stroke functional recovery were studied and explained based on its similarity in concepts to current conventional stroke rehabilitation approaches. There were few randomized controlled trials on Tai Ji in functional recovery among stroke patients. However, all literature identified Tai Ji as beneficial in stroke rehabilitation. However, there was no literature on explaining the Tai Ji movement based on current conventional stroke rehabilitation approaches. Tai Ji carries similar theories to the current neurorehabilitation approach. Tai Ji can be modified and incorporated into stroke rehabilitation programs based on patients' needs to produce promising outcomes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite strong evidence that walking speed and forward propulsion decline with increasing age, their relationship is still poorly understood. While changes in the ankle and hip mechanics have been described, few studies have reported the effect of ageing on the whole leg's contribution to propulsion. RESEARCH QUESTION The aim of this study was to investigate age-related changes in the work performed by the leg on the center of mass (COM) push-off power during walking in adults aged 20-86 years. Specifically, we evaluated how deterioration in COM push-off power relates to changes in ankle and hip kinetics as well as age and walking speed. METHODS Motion, ground reaction forces and gastrocnemius muscle activity were recorded in 138 adults during overground walking at self-selected speed. Age-related differences in variables between decades were analyzed with an ANOVA, while the relation between COM push-off power and joint kinetic variables, as well as walking speed and biological age, was evaluated using correlations and multiple regression analysis. RESULTS From the age of 70 years and onwards, COM push-off power was significantly decreased. The decline in COM push-off power was mostly explained by a decline in average ankle push-off power (72 %), and to a lesser extent by peak hip extension moment (3 %). There was no re-distribution of ankle-to-hip push-off power. The decline in COM push-off power seemed more related to walking speed (explaining 54 % of the variance) than biological age (only 4 %). SIGNIFICANCE Findings indicate that age-related decline in COM push-off power in able-bodied adults starts from the age of 70 years, which is before changes have been found in kinematics, but still later than generally presumed. This decrease in push-off power was more related to walking speed than biological age, which emphasizes the need to better understand the reason for speed decline in older adults.
