Abstract
Motor semiology is a major component of epilepsy evaluation, which provides essential information on seizure classification and helps in seizure localization. The typical motor seizures include tonic, clonic, tonic-clonic, myoclonic, atonic, epileptic spasms, automatisms, and hyperkinetic seizures. Compared to the "positive" motor signs, negative motor phenomena, for example, atonic seizures and Todd's paralysis are also crucial in seizure analysis. Several motor signs, for example, version, unilateral dystonia, figure 4 sign, M2e sign, and asymmetric clonic ending, are commonly observed and have significant clinical value in seizure localization. The purpose of this chapter is to review the localization value and pathophysiology associated with the well-defined motor seizure semiology using updated knowledge from intracranial electroencephalographic recordings, particularly stereoelectroencephalography.

Abstract
PURPOSE Epileptic encephalopathy with continuous spike-and-wave during sleep (CSWS), with its associated impact on language, is an important cause of morbidity with epilepsy in children. The effects of various treatment-approaches and the aetiological/electrophysiological factors affecting therapeutic response are not fully understood. METHOD A retrospective study of patients admitted to the institute and diagnosed to have CSWS pattern on EEG was conducted. Spike and Wave Frequency/100 s(SWF) was calculated from sleep-EEG records. Language development and seizure outcomes were assessed at baseline and 1 year. RESULTS Fifty-two children were included (idiopathic CSWS, N = 19; symptomatic CSWS N = 33).The 2 groups differed in terms of younger age at seizure onset in symptomatic CSWS (p = 0.006), early age at language regression (p = 0.046), history of neonatal seizures (p = 0.038) and slowing of background activity on EEG (p = 0.024). Language regression was noted in 63.5 % of the cohort. Twenty-five (48%) patients received steroids with improvement in seizures (p < 0.001). Twenty-one (40.3 %) received steroids and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) with improvement in seizure score (p = 0.002) at 1 year. Both immune-modulation arms irrespective of etiological subgroups had comparable proportions of children with expressive and receptive language gains. On 1 year follow-up, seizure remission was noted in 13(25 %) patients, with improved seizure score in 32/39 (61.5 %) patients and language improvement in 32 children (60.8 %). Patients with normal background on baseline EEG, generalised spikes, absent frontal-negative spikes and SWF < 170 were found to have improved language estimates on follow-up. CONCLUSIONS Despite clinical and therapeutic outcome differences between idiopathic and symptomatic CSWS, immune-modulation appears effective irrespective of aetiology. Analysis of EEG variables enables prediction of language outcomes at 1 year follow-up.

Abstract
Benign epilepsy with centro-temporal spikes (BECTS) is the most common type of focal epilepsy in children; it is age-dependent and presumably genetic. Traditionally, children with BECTS have a very good prognosis, even without medical treatment, and are thought to show no neurological symptoms or cognitive deficits. However, many previous studies have shown that BECTS can present with various clinical and electroencephalographic characteristics that are commonly associated with neuropsychological deficits, including linguistic, cognitive, and behavioral impairment. The degree of the neuropsychological deficits appears to depend on the sleep cycle and the localization of epileptiform discharges. Furthermore, based on neurobiological studies, a complex interplay between the processes of brain maturation and the involvement of genes that confer susceptibility may contribute to a variety of different childhood epileptic syndromes with various neuropsychological deficits. Thus, BECTS, atypical benign focal epilepsy during childhood, status epilepticus of BECTS, Landau-Kleffner syndrome, and epileptic encephalopathy with continuous spike-and-wave during sleep are all considered different entities, but are part of a single spectrum of disorders. In clinical practice, we have to consider BECTS as benign only when there are no or only mild neuropsychological deficits before medical treatment.

Abstract
Intermittent Head Drops are episodic head flexion movements that can occur in a number of conditions. Typically, the term has mainly been related to epileptic episodes, but the spectrum of clinical conditions associated with this feature is wide-ranging even if never discussed in detail. By searching the electronic database, we may find that apart from the epileptic conditions, Intermittent Head Drops have been in fact reported in the setting of movement disorders, sleep disorders and even internal medicine disorders, such as Sandifer syndrome. We render an in-depth description of this characteristic phenomenon in different diseases, describing the clinical clues and neurophysiological patterns that may help the clinician to distinguish between the different settings of occurrence.

Abstract
Epileptic encephalopathies refer to a group of disorders in which the unremitting epileptic activity contributes to severe cognitive and behavioral impairments above and beyond what might be expected from the underlying pathology alone, and these can worsen over time leading to progressive cerebral dysfunction. Several syndromes have been described based on their electroclinical features (age of onset, seizure type, and EEG pattern). This review briefly describes the clinical evaluation and management of commonly encountered epileptic encephalopathies in children.
