A portable household detection system based on the combination of bidirectional LSTM and residual block for automatical arrhythmia detection

OBJECTIVES

Arrhythmia is an important component of cardiovascular disease, and electrocardiogram (ECG) is a method to detect arrhythmia. Arrhythmia detection is often paroxysmal, and ECG signal analysis is time-consuming and expensive. We propose a model and device for convenient monitoring of arrhythmia at any time.

METHODS

This work proposes a model combining residual block and bidirectional long-term short-term memory network (BiLSTM) to detect and classify ECG signals. Residual blocks can extract deep features and avoid performance degradation caused by convolutional networks. Combined with the feature of BiLSTM to strengthen the connection relationship of the local window, it can achieve a better classification and prediction effect.

RESULTS

Model optimization experiments were performed on the MIT-BIH Atrial Fibrillation Database (AFDB) and MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database (MITDB). The accuracy simulation results on both long and short signal was higher than 99 %. To further demonstrate the applicability of the model, validation experiments were conducted on MIT-BIH Normal Sinus Rhythm Database (NSRDB) and the Long-Term AF Database (LTAFDB) datasets, and the related recognition accuracy were 99.830 and 91.252 %, respectively. Additionally, we proposed a portable household detection system including an ECG and a blood pressure detection module. The detection accuracy was higher than 98 % using the collected data as testing set.

CONCLUSIONS

Hence, we thought our system can be used for practical application.

Metaverse-Powered Experiential Situational English-Teaching Design: An Emotion-Based Analysis Method

Metaverse is to build a virtual world that is both mapped and independent of the real world in cyberspace by using the improvement in the maturity of various digital technologies, such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), big data, and 5G, which is important for the future development of a wide variety of professions, including education. The metaverse represents the latest stage of the development of visual immersion technology. Its essence is an online digital space parallel to the real world, which is becoming a practical field for the innovation and development of human society. The most prominent advantage of the English-teaching metaverse is that it can provide an immersive and interactive teaching field for teachers and students, simultaneously meeting the teaching and learning needs of teachers and students in both the physical world and virtual world. This study constructs experiential situational English-teaching scenario and convolutional neural networks (CNNs)–recurrent neural networks (RNNs) fusion models are proposed to recognize students’ emotion electroencephalogram (EEG) in experiential English teaching during the feature space of time domain, frequency domain, and spatial domain. Analyzing EEG data collected by OpenBCI EEG Electrode Cap Kit from students, experiential English-teaching scenario is designed into three types: sequential guidance, comprehensive exploration, and crowd-creation construction. Experimental data analysis of the three kinds of learning activities shows that metaverse-powered experiential situational English teaching can promote the improvement of students’ sense of interactivity, immersion, and cognition, and the accuracy and analysis time of CNN–RNN fusion model is much higher than that of baselines. This study can provide a nice reference for the emotion recognition of students under COVID-19.

Optimization based ECG watermarking in RDWT-SVD domain

With the increase in point of care services, communication of digital patient records through open network has multi-folded. This digital data is used to obtain the remote medical assistance from the smart healthcare centres. Protecting this data during transmission is a very big challenge. One of the most important medical data is electrocardiogram (ECG) signal which detects the cardiovascular diseases and any alteration in the signal may affect the diagnosis. In this work, an ECG watermarking based on redundant discrete wavelet transform (RDWT) and singular value decomposition (SVD) is developed. First, the ECG signal is converted into 2-D matrix using pan-tompkins algorithm. Then, we use the hybrid of RDWT and SVD to conceal the patient data and logo image into the 2-D ECG image. We also use hybrid of optimization scheme to improve the robustness of the watermark. Preliminary experimental results indicate the optimal invisibility and robustness result is more effective up to 97.89% than the traditional schemes respectively, which makes it suitable for ownership authentication of ECG signal.
