Abstract
Iron and nitrogen-doped carbon substances with abundant active sites that related to dispersion of heteroatom species (Fe and N) on the surface of carbonous structure, are promising choice for eco-friendly catalytic reactions. Herein, cellulose-based ionic liquid (IL) derivative not only employed as the both nitrogen and iron heteroatom precursors, but also has been used as the green and biodegradable substrate. The non-noble Fe-NC@550, was successfully fabricated by convenient carbonization of cellulose-based IL. Further, the FeCl4- anion was used as the iron precursor and also it has been applied to elevate the SSA (specific surface area) of catalyst (from 40.96 to 160.42 m2/g) due to the presence of chlorine. On the basis of several pertinent physicochemical and experimental outcomes, the structure of the catalyst was successfully proved in different synthetic steps. As expected, the Fe-NC@550 exhibited the substantial efficiency toward hydrogenation of nitroarenes with high TOF value and also remarkable reusability.

Silver nanoparticles-decorated Preyssler functionalized cellulose biocomposite as a novel and efficient catalyst for the synthesis of 2-amino-4H-pyrans and spirochromenes. Sci Rep 2020; 10:14540. [PMID: 32884026 PMCID: PMC7471288 DOI: 10.1038/s41598-020-70738-z] [Citation(s) in RCA: 12] [Impact Index Per Article: 3.0] [Reference Citation Analysis] [Abstract] [Track Full Text] [Download PDF] [Figures] [Journal Information] [Subscribe] [Scholar Register] [Received: 03/28/2020] [Accepted: 07/14/2020] [Indexed: 11/30/2022] Open
Abstract
Silver nanoparticles-decorated Preyssler functionalized cellulose biocomposite (PC/AgNPs) was prepared and fully characterized by FTIR, UV–vis, SEM, and TEM techniques. The preparation of PC/AgNPs was studied systematically to optimize the processing parameters by Taguchi method using the amount of PC, reaction temperature, concentration of silver nitrate and pH of medium. Taguchi’s L9 orthogonal (4 parameters, 4 level) was used for the experimental design. The SEM analysis confirmed the presence of the Preyssler as a white cloud as well as spherical AgNPs on the surface of cellulose. The formation of AgNPs on the surface was observed by changing of the color from yellow to deep brown and confirmed by UV–vis spectroscopy. The best yield of AgNPs forming was obtained in pH 12.5 at 80 ºC in 20 min. TEM analysis confirmed the formation of spherical AgNPs with a size of 50 nm, at the 1% wt. loading of Preyssler. This easily prepared PC/AgNPs was successfully employed as an efficient, green, and reusable catalyst in the synthesis of a wide range of 2-amino-4H-pyran and functionalized spirochromene derivatives via a one-pot, multicomponent reaction. The chief merits realized for this protocol were the utilization of commercially available or easily accessible starting materials, operational simplicity, facile work-up procedure, obtaining of high to excellent yields of the products and being done under green conditions. The catalyst could be easily separated from the reaction mixture and reused several times without observing any appreciable loss in its efficiency.

Abstract
Hydrochar produced from agricultural and forestry wastes and its application into the environment are very attractive. Herein, a high-efficiency dithiocarbamate-modified hydrochar (DTHC) was prepared successfully and then applied to eliminate Pb(II) from aqueous solutions. DTHC was characterized by various techniques. It was found that dithiocarbamate and amine groups were successfully grafted onto the surface of hydrochar. The surface area of DTHC was 7.94 m2·g-1, which was four folds less than pristine hydrochar (31.60 m2·g-1), but its adsorption capacity obviously increased. Adsorption experiments showed that the Pb(II) adsorption process onto DTHC well accorded with pseudo-2nd-order kinetics and Langmuir isotherms. The highest Pb(II) uptake by DTHC at 293 K determined from the Langmuir model was 151.51 mg·g-1. Fourier transform infrared spectra and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy verified that dithiocarbamate, carboxylate, amine and sulfonate groups all facilitated the Pb(II) adsorption. The adsorption mechanism was ascribed to the inner-sphere surface complexation of Pb(II) by these groups and to the ion exchange between Pb(II) and Na(I). Thus, DTHC is an effective adsorbent for Pb(II) removal from water.

Abstract
A simple preparation of catalysts with high catalytic activity and superior cycling stability is very desirable. In this contribution, magnetic carbon nanotube functionalized by polythiophene (CNT-Fe3O4-PTh) acts as an efficient and retrievable host for copper nanoparticles to prepare CNT-Fe3O4-PTh-Cu(I) as a nontoxic and inexpensive catalyst. FT-IR, TGA, EDX, VSM, XRD, FE-SEM, TEM, and AAS techniques were employed to characterize the structure of the synthesized magnetic heterogeneous nanocomposite. Thereafter, the catalytic application of the catalyst was evaluated for the phosphine- and palladium-free Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction in water/ethanol as a green media in short reaction times with good to excellent yields. Various derivatives of biaryl compounds were synthesized by reaction of aryl halides and phenylboronic acid. Simple methodology and easy workup, short reaction times, elimination of volatile and toxic solvents, biocompatible reaction conditions, and high yields are some advantages of this protocol. Moreover, the catalyst showed a good reusability owing to its magnetic properties and was recycled several times without appreciable decrease in its catalytic efficiency. Copper(I) nanoparticles supported on magnetic carbon nanotube functionalized by polythiophene (CNT-Fe3O4-PTh-Cu(I)), was prepared and used for ligand- and palladiumfree Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction in water/ethanol as a green media in short reaction times with good to excellent yields. Reusability and stability tests demonstrated that the as prepared catalyst can be recycled with a negligible loss of its activity.

Abstract
The development of heterogenization of copper nanoparticles on conductive supports is very challenging and has received much attention. Here, we synthesize a practical, efficient, and inexpensive heterogeneous catalyst to grow stable metallic copper(II) nanoparticles on the surface of magnetic carbon nanotube (Fe3O4-CNT) catalyst support physically functionalized with triethanolamine (TEA) that acts as a low-cost and non-toxic ligand to capture the copper nanoparticles [Fe3O4-CNT-TEA-Cu(II)]. The as-prepared heterogeneous catalyst was characterized by different techniques, such as Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, vibrating sample magnetometer, X-ray diffraction patterns, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, and atomic absorption spectroscopy analysis. The catalytic behavior of Fe3O4-CNT-TEA-Cu(II) was investigated in the preparation of 5-substituted 1H-tetrazole derivatives via one-pot, three-component reaction between aromatic aldehydes, hydroxylamine, and sodium azide. The low catalyst loading, wide substrate scope, use of inexpensive materials, simple separation of the catalyst from the reaction mixture by an external magnet, short reaction times, easy workup, affordability, and superb yield are some advantages of this protocol.
