Abstract
Traditional procedures for oxidation processes suffer from a lack of selectivity, the use of organic solvents, the toxicity of the reagents, and waste production. As a cleaner alternative, highly dispersed Co over 12-tungstosilicicacid modified zirconia was synthesized and used for the selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol and styrene with molecular oxygen to carbonyl compounds under environmentally benign solvent-free conditions. The supremacy of the present catalyst lies in achieving excellent selectivity (>90%) for products with a very high turnover number. The catalytic activity of the recycled catalysts was also explored under optimized conditions to confirm sustainability. Further, the viability of the catalyst was studied via oxidation of various alcohols and alkenes under optimized conditions as well as superiority by comparison with the reported catalysts.

Kinetic Study of Styrene Oxidation over Titania Catalyst Supported on Sulfonated Fish Bone-derived Carbon. BULLETIN OF CHEMICAL REACTION ENGINEERING & CATALYSIS 2022. Abstract
The kinetic evaluation of titania supported sulfonated fish bone-derived carbon (TiO2/SFBC) as a catalyst in styrene oxidation by aqueous hydrogen peroxide was carried out. The catalysts were prepared by carbonation of fishbone powder at varying temperatures 500, 600 and 700 °C, respectively for 2 h, followed by sulfonation with sulfuric acid (1M) for 24 h and impregnated by varied titania concentration 500, 1000 and 1500 µmol. The physical properties of catalysts were characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope-Energy Dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX) and the nitrogen adsorption-desorption analysis. The catalytic activity result showed that TiO2/SFBC can be used as a potential catalyst in styrene oxidation. Worth noting that the sulfonation process has not only transformed the TiO2/FBC particulates (without sulfonation) to cuboid-shaped TiO2/SFBC (with sulfonation) but also contributed to the high selectivity of benzaldehyde. On the other hand, carbonization at different temperatures has an indistinct effect on catalytic performance due to their similar surface areas. The styrene conversion rate responded positively with the increasing amount of titania in the functionalized composites. The styrene oxidation by aqueous H2O2 unraveled the first-order reaction with the activation energy of ⁓63.5 kJ. Copyright © 2022 by Authors, Published by BCREC Group. Abstract
In this contribution, the thermodynamic analysis of α- and β-pinene epoxide isomerization over Fe and Cu supported on MCM-41 is presented using computational chemistry and group contribution methods (GCMs). Some physical-chemical data (T c, P c, v c, Z c, ω, T b, T fus) and thermodynamic (S°298.15, C p,298.15 °, C v,298.15 °, ΔH f,298.15 °, ΔG f,298.15 °, ΔH vb °, ΔH fus, C pL) properties obtained by different GCMs are reported for several monoterpenes and monoterpenoids, which significantly contribute to the knowledge of the properties of these compounds. Density functional theory (DFT), PBE-D3/6-311G(d,p), was employed for determining the Gibbs free energy and the heat of reaction associated with the transformation of monoterpene epoxides into aldehydes, ketones, and related oxygenated compounds in the presence of different solvents and at several temperatures. The calculations were compared with available data reported and the experimental results of the catalytic reactions. The transformation of α- and β-pinene epoxides into aldehydes appears to be more spontaneous and favorable than their transformations into alcohols in a wide range of temperatures. These results are in agreement with the experiments over Fe/MCM-41 and Cu/MCM-41, where α-pinene epoxide isomerization yields campholenic aldehyde (50-80% selectivity) as the main product. The 1.7Fe/MCM-41 material was more active in all solvents than 1.3Cu/MCM-41 for both α- and β-pinene epoxide isomerization. However, perillyl alcohol (20-70% selectivity) was the most favored for the isomerization reaction, except when ethyl acetate was the solvent. Enthalpy and Gibbs free energy of the studied reactions estimated by both GCMs and DFT calculations did not show large differences for most of the reactions at evaluated temperatures.

Abstract
Here, we report the synthesis of spherical bimetal ZnCo-MOF materials by a hydrothermal rotacrystallization method and their catalytic activity on the air epoxidation of mixed biolefins enhanced by microwaves. The structural and chemical properties of the ZnCo-MOF materials were fully characterized by XRD, IR, SEM, TG, XPS, and NH3-TPD. The morphology of the material exhibited a three-dimensional spherical structure. From an NH3-TPD test of the ZnCo-MOF catalyst, it could be concluded that the Zn0.1Co1-MOF-H-150 rpm material had the highest acidic content and the strongest acidity among the catalysts synthesized by different methods, which gave the best performance in the epoxidation of mixed biolefins. The air epoxidation reaction was carried out under atmospheric pressure and microwave conditions, in the absence of any initiator or coreducing agent. Moreover, the Zn0.1Co1-MOF catalyst could be recycled six times without reducing the catalytic activity significantly, which showed the stability of spherical catalyst material under microwaves.

Abstract
A heterogeneous catalyst comprising mono-copper substituted phosphotungstate and hydrous zirconia was synthesized using wet impregnation method, characterized by various physico-chemical techniques and evaluated for solvent-free oxidation of styrene using TBHP as oxidant. Various reaction parameters like time, catalyst amount, amount of TBHP and temperature were optimized with focus on optimum selectivity of styrene-oxide. Further, the catalytic activity was compared with that of unfunctionalized PW11Cu to understand the role of the support. Finally, the role of each component of the reaction was clearly elucidated by a detailed kinetic study of the reaction using both the catalysts. Mono-copper substituted phosphotungstate was supported on hydrous zirconia by wet impregnation, characterized and evaluated for its catalytic activity in the solvent-free flexible oxidation of styrene using TBHP as oxidant.![]()

Abstract
A tailor-made catalyst with cobalt oxide particles encapsulated into ZSM-5 zeolites (Co3O4@HZSM-5) was prepared via a hydrothermal method with the conventional impregnated Co3O4/SiO2 catalyst as the precursor and Si source. Various characterization results show that the Co3O4@HZSM-5 catalyst has well-organized structure with Co3O4 particles compatibly encapsulated in the zeolite crystals. The Co3O4@HZSM-5 catalyst was employed as an efficient catalyst for the selective oxidation of styrene to benzaldehyde with hydrogen peroxide as a green and economic oxidant. The effect of various reaction conditions including reaction time, reaction temperature, different kinds of solvents, styrene/H2O2 molar ratio and catalyst dosage on the catalytic performance were systematically investigated. Under the optimized reaction condition, the yield of benzaldehyde can achieve 78.9% with 96.8% styrene conversion and 81.5% benzaldehyde selectivity. Such an excellent catalytic performance can be attributed to the synergistic effect between the confined reaction environment and the proper acidic property. In addition, the reaction mechanism with Co3O4@HZSM-5 as the catalyst for the selective oxidation of styrene to benzaldehyde was reasonably proposed.
