Abstract
RATIONALE Orientin and isoorientin are C-glycosidic flavonoids, considered as markers of some plant species such as Passiflora edulis var. flavicarpa Degener, and reported in the literature to have pharmacological properties. In order to evaluate and characterize the in vitro metabolism of these flavonoids, phase I biotransformation reactions were simulated using Salen complexes. METHODS These flavonoids were oxidized separately in biomimetic reactions in different proportions, using one oxidant, m-chloroperbenzoic acid or iodosylbenzene, and one catalyst, the Jacobsen catalyst or [Mn(3-MeOSalen)Cl]. The [Mn(3-MeOSalen)Cl] catalyst was synthesized and characterized using spectrometric techniques. The oxidation potentials of the catalysts were compared. All reactions were monitored and analyzed using ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography diode-array detection (UHPLC-DAD) and high-performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC/MS/MS). RESULTS The analysis by UHPLC-DAD and HPLC/MS/MS showed that isoorientin produces more products than orientin and that [Mn(3-MeOSalen)Cl] produces more products than the Jacobsen catalyst. In addition, [Mn(3-MeOSalen)Cl], which has a higher oxidation potential, formed products with the addition of one or two atoms of oxygen, while the Jacobsen catalyst formed compounds with only one added oxygen atom. The products with the addition of one oxygen atom were mainly epoxides, while those with two added oxygens formed an epoxide in the C-ring and incorporated the other oxygen into the glycosidic moiety. CONCLUSIONS The formation of epoxides is common in biomimetic reactions and they may represent a safety risk in medicinal products due to their high reactivity. This study may serve as a basis for subsequent pharmacological and toxicological studies that investigate the presence of these compounds as phase I metabolites, and ensure the safe use of plant products containing orientin as a chemical marker.

Conversion of Organic Matter in Coal by Photocatalytic Oxidation with H 2O 2 over SFC/TiO 2 in Isolated Oxygen System. J CHEM-NY 2019. Abstract
Shenfu bituminous coal (SFBC), Geting coal (GTC), Shengli lignite (SLL), and Holingola coal (HLGLC) were oxidized by UV light radiation with aqueous H2O2 over SFC/TiO2 in a closed suspension system (CSS) to understand structural characteristics of 4 typical Chinese coals. Raw and oxidized coals were dried and extracted with acetone thoroughly to ensure residue extraction. Meanwhile, the extracts were analyzed using a gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer. The results show that organic matters (OMs) in coals can be converted into a large number of oxygen-containing organic compounds (OCOCs), mainly containing ketones, esters, alcohols, etc. Oxidizing species such as hydroxyls, hydroperoxyl, and alkyl radicals are excited by light irradiation and substitute for hydrogen atoms of methyls and methylenes of acenes or branched-chain alkanes in coals. Acetic acid and acetaldehyde can be formed and dissolved in aqueous solution in the oxidation reaction. The yields can be improved with the enhancement of the oxidation effect.

Abstract
The introduction of electron-withdrawing group into porphyrin molecule as cytochrome P450 model can tune the energy level and have an effect on the electronic structure. In this work, linking with the strong electron-withdrawing fluorine atoms, a starburst dendritic molecule, 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)-21H,23H-porphyrin iron (III) chloride (FeTFPP), containing a saddle-shaped porphyrin as the central core and four pentafluorophenyl rings as the peripheral functional groups was successfully synthesized. Subsequently, the macrocyclic conjugate polymer film of FeTFPP was achieved via a low-cost electrochemical method and exploited as an efficient mimetic enzyme. Furthermore, a biomimetic sensor was constructed by the poly(FeTFPP) film and graphene (rGO) sheet (rGO-poly(FeTFPP)) for selective and sensitive detection of dopamine (DA). Here, the FeTFPP polymer performs three functions: electrochemical recognition (owing to the hydrogen bonding between the strongly electronegative fluorine atoms and DA), biomimetic microenvironment (owing to interaction between porphyrin core and DA), electrocatalysis (owing to remarkable catalytic ability of iron (III) ion). Under optimum conditions, the response to DA was linear in the concentration range between 0.05 to 300μM, and the detection limit was 0.023μM. In addition, we applied the rGO-poly(FeTFPP) film to detect DA in real samples and the results implied its feasibility for practical application. As a result, it is believed that the rGO-poly(FeTFPP) film is one of the promising biomimetic catalysts for electrocatalysis and relevant fields.

Abstract
In this paper, linking with the butoxycarbonyl (BOC) protection of proline, a new tailed metalloporphyrin with many useful active functions, nickel (II) 5-[4-N-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl)-l-prolinecoxylpropyloxy]phenyl-10,15,20-triphenylporphyrin (NiTBLPyP), was designed and synthesized. And the NiTBLPyP polymer (poly(NiTBLPyP)) was successfully obtained via a low-cost electrochemical method and exploited as an efficient mimic enzyme. Subsequently, a noncovalent nanohybrid of poly(NiTBLPyP) with graphene (rGO) sheet (rGO-poly(NiTBLPyP)) was prepared through π-π stacking interaction for the ultrasensitive and selective detection of DA. The nanohybrid was characterized by UV-vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectra, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Due to the excellent electrocatalytic ability of poly(NiTBLPyP) film and aromatic π-π stacking interaction between poly(NiTBLPyP and rGO sheet, the obtained rGO-poly(NiTBLPyP) film exhibited a great synergistic amplification effect toward dopamine oxidation. Under optimum experimental conditions, the logarithm of catalytic currents showed a good linear relationship with that of the dopamine concentration in the range of 0.01-200 μM with a low detection limit of 1.40 nM. With good sensitivity and selectivity, the present method was applied to the determination of DA in real sample and the results was satisfactory. Thus, the rGO-poly(NiTBLPyP) film is one of the promising mimetic enzyme for electrocatalysis and relevant fields.

Abstract
Metalloporphyrins (MPs) are known to catalyze in vitro a broad range of
cytochrome P450-mediated reactions occurring in vivo. Most of the
biomimetic research using MPs in oxidative catalysis has been directed towards
the oxidation of organic compounds presenting significant reactivity features in
one functional group. Much less effort has been made to imitate the oxidation of
more complex molecules, with a range of functionalities, such as drugs or other
xenobiotics. By varying the structure of the porphyrin, the metal ion, the
oxidant, and the reaction conditions, it is possible to modulate the
regioselectivity of the oxidation reactions. Recently, and along with studies on
the synthesis and reactivity of porphyrins, chlorins, and phthalocyanines, our
group was able to develop an interesting line of research in the field of
biomimetic oxidation of organic compounds using environmentally benign hydrogen
peroxide as oxidant and Mn(III) or Fe(III) porphyrin complexes as catalysts. The
more up to date results obtained in such work are reviewed here.
