Abstract
This study describes the use of a prototype for the continuous photocatalytic reaction process using Fe/Nb2O5-immobilized catalyst for triclosan and 2.8-dichlorodibenzene-p-dioxin (2.8-DCDD)'s degradation. The experiments were carried out with different parameters and matrices in a steady state. In addition, photolysis and photocatalytic tests were performed. The results indicated that the generation of 2.8-DCDD was observed in matrices with Cl-. The Fe/Nb2O5-immobilized catalysts were efficient in the degradation of triclosan and 2.8-dichlorodibenzene-p-dioxin. However, 2.8-DCDD formation was not observed in the ultra-pure water matrix, which indicated influence of ions. The photocatalysis was more efficient than the photolysis when comparing both matrices and radiation. Even with a radiation oscillation, the solar process showed positive results.

Synthesis and Application of Heterogeneous Catalysts Based on Heteropolyacids for 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural Production from Glucose. ENERGIES 2020. Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the synthesis and application of heterogeneous catalysts based on heteropolyacids for 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) production from glucose. Initially, assays were carried out in order to establish the most favorable catalyst synthesis conditions. For such purpose, calcination temperature (300 or 500 °C), type of support (Nb2O5 or Al2O3), and active phase (H3PW12O40—HPW or H3PMo12O40—HPMo) were tested and combined based on Taguchi’s L8 orthogonal array. As a result, HPW-Nb2O5 calcined at 300 °C was selected as it presented optimal HMF production performance (9.5% yield). Subsequently, the reaction conditions capable of maximizing HMF production from glucose using the selected catalyst were established. In these experiments, different temperatures (160 or 200 °C), acetone-to-water ratios (1:1 or 3:1 v/v), glucose concentrations (50 or 100 g/L), and catalyst concentrations (1 or 5% w/v) were evaluated according to a Taguchi’s L16 experimental design. The conditions that resulted in the highest HMF yield (40.8%) consisted of using 50 g/L of glucose at 160 °C, 1:1 (v/v) acetone-to-water ratio, and catalyst concentration of 5% (w/v). Recycling tests revealed that the catalyst can be used in four runs, which results in the same HMF yield (approx. 40%).

Abstract
In this study, effects of catalyst types, reaction temperatures, reaction times, reaction solvents and ultrasound frequencies were carefully investigated to improve the yields and characteristics of various depolymerization products of organosolv lignin. Generally, both catalyst types and ultrasound frequencies played important roles in promoting lignin depolymerization and reducing char yield. In particular, the yield and distribution of phenolic monomer (PM) products were greatly influenced by pore structure and acidity of the catalyst. The optimal reaction condition was got in isopropanol at 310 °C for 6 h with 30% ultrasound frequency and 50% phosphotungstic acid (PTA)/MCM-41 catalyst. The highest yields of PM, bio-oil, liquid fuels and lignin conversion were reached as 8.63 wt%, 86.89 wt%, 95.52 wt% and 98.54 wt%, respectively. The results showed that ultrasound acoustic cavitation could enhance the depolymerization of lignin, thus greatly enhancing production of liquid fuels. Simultaneously, the hydrogen composition and high heating value of various lignin depolymerization products improved, and the oxygen content decreased, indicating that hydrogenation and/or hydrodeoxygenation happened during the depolymerization process. Finally, we also found that the 50% PTA/MCM-41 catalyst had high stability; it could be reused for up to five cycles without loss of catalytic activity. Lignin was subjected to different contents of PTA/MCM-41-catalyzed ultrasound-assisted depolymerization for efficient β-O-4 aryl ether bond cleavage to achieve efficient liquid fuel yields.![]()

Abstract
Phosphotungstic and silicotungstic acid salt catalysts (CuPW, CuSiW, FePW, FeSiW) were synthesized by substitution of protons with ferric and copper ions through a simple replacement reaction. The structure and thermal stability were characterized by IR, XRD and TG, and the salts showed a keggin structure and a thermal tolerance near 450 °C. Temperature programmed reactions indicated that the four catalysts showed similar trends in the change of methanol conversion, DME selectivity, and light olefins selectivity at 100–400 °C. Copper salt catalysts showed a 100% DME selectivity at temperatures ranging from 100–250 °C, while FeSiW and FePW catalysts had a 100% DME selectivity near 250 °C. Moreover, the heteropolyacid salt catalysts also produced a certain number of light olefins at the temperature ranging from 250–350 °C, and the CuSiW catalyst exhibited the highest ethylene and propylene selectivity of 44%. In the stability test evaluated at 200 °C, the catalysts showed different tendencies during the induction period and the same trends during the reduction period for the methanol conversion to DME, due to the differences in the strengths of the strong acid sites. Finally, the silicotungstic acid salt catalysts showed the longest lifetime of 120 h, much longer than the heteropolyacids. This approach provides an effective way to synthesize hydrocarbons through methanol, especially DME, at different temperatures using one catalyst.
