Abstract
In this work, we demonstrate that amorphous and porous molybdenum silicate microspheres are highly active catalysts for heterogeneous propylene metathesis. Homogeneous molybdenum silicate microspheres and aluminum-doped molybdenum silicate microspheres were synthesized via a nonaqueous condensation of a hybrid molybdenum biphenyldicarboxylate-based precursor solution with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane. The as-prepared hybrid metallosilicate products were calcined at 500 °C to obtain amorphous and porous molybdenum silicate and aluminum-doped molybdenum silicate microspheres with highly dispersed molybdate species inserted into the silicate matrix. These catalysts contain mainly highly dispersed MoOx species, which possess high catalytic activity in heterogeneous propylene metathesis to ethylene and butene. Compared to conventional silica-supported MoOx catalysts prepared via incipient wetness impregnation (MoIWI), the microspheres with low Mo content (1.5-3.6 wt %) exhibited nearly 2 orders of magnitude higher steady-state propylene metathesis rates at 200 °C, approaching site time yields of 0.11 s-1.

Post-Synthesis Strategies to Prepare Mesostructured and Hierarchical Silicates for Liquid Phase Catalytic Epoxidation. Catalysts 2022. Abstract
Olefin epoxidation is an important transformation for the chemical valorization of olefins, which may derive from renewable sources or domestic/industrial waste. Different post-synthesis strategies were employed to introduce molybdenum species into mesostructured and hierarchical micro-mesoporous catalysts of the type TUD-1 and BEA, respectively, to confer epoxidation activity for the conversion of relatively bulky olefins (e.g., biobased methyl oleate, DL-limonene) to epoxide products, using tert-butyl hydroperoxide as an oxidant. The influences of (i) the type of metal precursor, (ii) type of post-synthesis impregnation method, (iii) type of support and (iv) top-down versus bottom-up synthesis methodologies were studied to achieve superior catalytic performances. Higher epoxidation activity was achieved for a material prepared via (post-synthesis) incipient wetness impregnation of MoO2(acac)2 (acac = acetylacetonate) on (pre-treated) siliceous TUD-1 and calcination; for example, methyl oleate was converted to the corresponding epoxide with 100% selectivity at 89% conversion (70 °C). Catalytic and solid-state characterization studies were conducted to shed light on material stability phenomena.

Abstract
Given their excellent reusability and environmental friendliness, solid acid catalysts have drawn considerable attention in acid-catalyzed reactions. However, the rational design and synthesis of solid acid catalysts with abundant Brønsted acid sites remains a challenge. In this paper, KIT-6, Zr-KIT-6, Mo-KIT-6, and ZrMo-KIT-6 solid acid catalysts are designed and synthesized. The textural properties, chemical bonds, and acidic properties of these catalysts are explored. Theoretical calculations are conducted to explore the formation mechanism of Brønsted acid sites. The theoretical trend of acidity is consistent with the experimental result of acidity and further demonstrates that the synergistic effect of Zr and Mo species improves the formation of Brønsted acid sites. The as-obtained ZrMo-KIT-6 solid acid catalysts are employed in Friedel–Crafts benzylation reaction, and the outstanding catalytic performance of the ZrMo-KIT-6 catalyst indicates that it is an excellent Brønsted solid acid catalyst. Synergistic effect of Zr and Mo species in the formation of Brønsted acid sites is investigated by experimental and theoretical study.![]()

Abstract
X-ray spectroscopy using high-energy-resolution fluorescence detection (HERFD) has critically increased the information content in X-ray spectra. We extend this technique to the tender X-ray range and present a study at the L3-edge of molybdenum. We show how information on the oxidation state, phase composition, and local environment in molybdenum-based compounds can be obtained by analyzing the HERFD L3 X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES). We demonstrate that the chemical shift of the L3-edge HERFD spectra follows a parabolic dependence on the oxidation state and show that a qualitative analysis of high-resolution spectra can help to estimate parameters such as distortion of a ligand environment and radial order of atoms around the absorber. In certain cases, the spectra allow disentangling the contributions from bond lengths and angles to the distortion of the ligand polyhedron. Comparison of the high-resolution spectra with theoretical simulations shows that the single-electron approximation is able to reproduce the spectral shape. The results of this work may be useful in every branch of physics, inorganic and organometallic chemistry, catalysis, materials science, biochemistry, and mineralogy where observed changes in performance or chemical properties of Mo-based compounds, accompanied by small changes in spectral shape, are to be related to the details of electronic structure and local atomic environment.

Abstract
On-purpose synthetic routes for propylene production have emerged in the last couple of decades in response to the increasing demand for plastics and a shift to shale gas feedstocks for ethylene production. Propane dehydrogenation (PDH), an efficient and selective route to produce propylene, saw booming investments to fill the so-called propylene gap. In the coming years, however, a fluctuating light olefins market will call for flexibility in end-product of PDH plants. This can be achieved by combining PDH with propylene metathesis in a single step, propane to olefins (PTO), which allows production of mixtures of propylene, ethylene and butenes, which are important chemical building blocks for a.o. thermoplastics. The metathesis technology introduced by Phillips in the 1960s and mostly operated in reverse to produce propylene, is thus undergoing a renaissance of scientific and technological interest in the context of the PTO reaction. In this review, we will describe the state-of-the-art of PDH, propylene metathesis and PTO reactions, highlighting the open challenges and opportunities in the field. While the separate PDH and metathesis reactions have been extensively studied in the literature, understanding the whole PTO tandem-catalysis system will require new efforts in theoretical modelling and operando spectroscopy experiments, to gain mechanistic insights into the combined reactions and finally improve catalytic selectivity and stability for on-purpose olefins production.

Abstract
The construction of C-N bonds with nitroaromatics and boronic acids using highly efficient and recyclable catalysts remains a challenge. In this study, nanoporous MoO3 confined in silica serves as an efficient heterogeneous catalyst for C-N cross-coupling of nitroaromatics with aryl or alkyl boronic acids to deliver N-arylamines and with desirable multiple reusability. Experimental results suggest that silica not only heterogenizes the Mo species in the confined mesoporous microenvironment but also significantly reduces the reaction induction period and regulates the chemical efficiency of the targeted product. The well-shaped MoO3 @m-SiO2 catalyst exhibits improved catalytic performance both in yield and turnover number, in contrast with homogeneous Mo catalysts, commercial Pd/C, or MoO3 nanoparticles. This approach offers a new avenue for the heterogeneous catalytic synthesis of valuable bioactive molecules.

Abstract
This paper presents a quantitative pollutant discharge model for a typical molybdenum roasting plant, which combines the best available technology and object-oriented Petri net concepts. The proposed model was used to verify whether the best available technology in a molybdenum roasting process meeting the current pollutant emission limits by comparing the results of multiple simulations with online monitoring data records. Theoretical SO2 emission values were obtained via multiple simulations and compared with the online monitoring data of a typical molybdenum roasting plant to verify the authenticity of the online monitoring data. The relationship between the different operating parameters and desulfurization efficiency is established through analyzing the historical operation parameters of the enterprise and response surface method. It was found that the optimal operating parameters for the flue gas desulfurization system of this plant could be characterized by a flue gas temperature of 90-93 °C, a pH range of 6.20-6.30, and a liquid-gas ratio of 23-25 L/m3.
