Abstract
A novel near-infrared fluorescent probe (SWJT-13) for detecting Pd2+ ions was designed and synthesized using 3-bromopropargyne group as a recognition site. SWJT-13 can detect Pd2+ ions specifically, which can be quickly recognized by naked eye under natural light. SWJT-13 has a large Stokes shift (155 nm) with LOD of 10.5 nM. The mechanism was verified by 1H NMR, MS, and Gaussian calculations. In addition, the detection of Pd2+ ions by the probe was studied in HeLa cells.

Abstract
Cooperation between organelles is essential to maintain the normal operation of the cell. A lipid droplet (LD), a dynamic organelle, is specialized in lipid storage and can interact physically with mitochondria in several cell types. However, an appropriate method for in situ studying the interaction relationships of mitochondria-LDs is still lacking. Herein, a charge-dependent strategy is proposed for the first time by considering adequately the charge difference between mitochondria and LDs. According to the novel strategy, we have developed a unique fluorescent probe Mito-LD based on the cyclization and ring-opening conversion. Mito-LD could simultaneously stain mitochondria and LDs and emit a red and green fluorescence, respectively. More importantly, with the probe Mito-LD, the in situ interaction relationships of mitochondria-LDs were investigated in detail from LD accumulation, mitochondrial dysfunction, lower environmental temperatures, and four aspects of apoptosis. The experimental results showed that mitochondria played an important role in LD accumulation, and the numbers and size of LDs would increase after mitochondrial dysfunction that may be due to excess liposomes. In addition, as an energy storage organelle, LDs played an important role in helping to coordinate mitochondrial energy supply in response to cold. In addition, the Mito-LD revealed that the polarity of mitochondria was higher than that of LDs. In a word, the probe Mito-LD could serve as a potential tool for further exploring mitochondria-LD interaction mechanisms, and importantly, the charge-dependent strategy is valuable for designing robust new probes in imaging multiple organelles.

Abstract
Indium has been regarded as one of the most rarely used metal ions; however, the consumption of indium has increased intensively due to its increasing use in electrodes of liquid crystal displays (LCDs). In recent years, warnings have been issued about the toxicity of indium to aquatic ecosystems and humans. Thus, the development of efficient and selective detection methods for In3+ in aquatic environments as well as in live cells is highly required. However, the selective and sensitive detection of In3+ in the presence of trivalent metal ions and other metal ions is highly challenging. In the present study, we synthesized a fluorescent probe (1) for In3+ and Al3+ based on an unnatural peptide receptor and an aggregation-induced emission fluorophore and developed a selective fluorescent detection method for In3+ in aqueous solutions and live cells using the probe and a metal chelating agent. 1 recognized In3+ and Al3+ selectively among 19 metal ions in aqueous solutions depending on pH by the enhancement of the red emission at 600 nm and decrease in the green emission at 530 nm. 1 sensitively detected In3+ and Al3+ by ratiometric response in a wide pH range (3.5-7.4), and the ratiometric response was complete within 20 seconds in an aqueous buffered solution at pH 5.0. Interestingly, the addition of EDTA to the complex of 1 with In3+ or Al3+ did not induce the Al3+-free spectrum but instead induced the In3+-free spectrum; thus, In3+ and Al3+ could be easily differentiated. The detection limit of 1 for In3+ ions was 211 nM (R2 = 0.981) in purely aqueous solutions. The fluorescence ratiometric detection method using 1 could quantify low concentrations of In3+ in ground water and tap water. Fluorescence cell image studies revealed that the probe was cell-permeable, and low concentrations of In3+ inside the cells could be recognized by the enhancement of the red emission at 600 nm. The binding mode study via NMR, IR, and CD spectroscopy revealed how the peptide receptor of 1 interacted with In3+ and resulted in the enhancement of the red emission in an aqueous solution.

Abstract
A dual-function fluorescent Probe 1 has been synthesized conveniently by coupling rhodamine hydrazone with O-vinyl protected hydroxyl benzaldehyde. Probe 1 was a highly selective and sensitive chemodosimeter for Hg2+ through specific hydrolysis reaction of vinyl ethers with significant fluorescence quenching in CH3CN-PBS buffer (3:7, v/v) solution. Meanwhile, Probe 1 showed a ratiometric fluorescent detection of Cu2+ with a remarkable large Stokes shift (150 nm) by the opening of the spirolactam ring in CH3CN-PBS buffer (3:7, v/v) solution. Hence, the two recognition mechanisms realized well by using a single fluorescent probe. Moreover, Probe 1 could be efficiently applied to the combinatorial logic circuit of NOR and INHIBIT gates through the procured spectral results, respectively.
