Abstract
We developed a synthetic method for obtaining 4,5-disubstituted 2-(pyridin-2-yl)oxazoles from picolinamide and aldehydes by employing Pd(TFA)2 as the catalyst in n-octane. This cascade reaction involves the condensation of picolinamide and two aldehyde molecules promoted by trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) generated in situ from Pd(TFA)2. This one-pot protocol provides rapid access to synthetically valuable triaryloxazoles from readily available starting materials under mild conditions. An 18O labeling study revealed that this tandem reaction proceeded via a different reaction mechanism compared to the Robinson-Gabriel oxazole synthesis.

Abstract
A visible-light-mediated method for the construction of N-monoalkylated products from easily available benzamides and benzyl alcohol in the presence of eosin Y has been developed. The reaction proceeded smoothly, for a wide range of derivatives of benzamides and benzyl alcohols, to give the desired products in good to excellent yields. Biological studies, such as those on drug-likeness and molecular docking, are carried out on the molecules.

Abstract
Three novel Ir(III) complexes, (ppy)2Ir(L-alanine) (Ir1) (ppy = 2-phenylpyridine), (F4ppy)2Ir(L-alanine) (Ir2) (F4ppy = 2-(4-fluorophenyl)pyridine), and (F2,4,5ppy)2Ir(L-alanine) (Ir3) (F2,4,5ppy = 2-(2,4,5-trifluorophenyl)pyridine), based on simple L-alanine as ancillary ligands were synthesized and investigated. Due to the introduction of fluorine substituents on the cyclometalated ligands, complexes Ir1-Ir3 exhibited yellow to sky-blue emissions (λem = 464-509 nm) in acetonitrile solution. The photoluminescence quantum yields (PLQYs) of Ir1-Ir3 ranged from 0.48-0.69, of which Ir3 with sky-blue luminescence had the highest PLQY of 0.69. The electrochemical study and density functional theory (DFT) calculations show that the highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMOs) energy of Ir1-Ir3 are stabilized by the introduction of fluorine substituents on the cyclometalated ligands, while L-alanine ancillary ligand has little contribution to HOMOs and lowest unoccupied molecular orbitals (LUMOs). Moreover, Ir1-Ir3 presented an excellent response to Cu2+ with a high selectivity, strong anti-interference ability, and short response time. Such a detection was based on significant phosphorescence quenching of their emissions, showing the potential application in chemosensors for Cu2+.

Abstract
An efficient Ru doped hydrotalcite catalyzed N-alkylation of benzamides and sulfonamides with alcohols via borrowing hydrogen catalysis is illustrated. Various primary alcohols, including benzyl, heteroaryl, and aliphatic alcohols, were alkylated in good to excellent yields. To shed light on the mechanistic details, several control studies and deuterium labeling experiments were performed. Mechanistic studies underpin that the reaction is going via a borrowing hydrogen pathway rather than an SN1 type mechanism. The reaction can be easily scaled up without any detrimental effect on the yield. The catalyst is also capable of synthesizing quinazolinone directly from 2-aminobenzamide and alcohols. Successful recyclability and high reactivity highlight the practical applicability of the catalyst.

Abstract
Three coordination polymers—{[Ag2(SIP)(4-pp)]·[Ag(4-pp)2]·H2O}n, [Pb4(SIP)2( μ3-OH)2(H2O)2]n, and {[Zn2(SIP)2(4-pp)4][Zn(4-pp)2(H2O)4]·4H2O}n (SIP = 5-sulfoisophthalic acid anion, 4-pp = 4-phenylpyridine)—are constructed under hydrothermal or solvothermal conditions using sodium m-phthalate 5-sulfonate (NaH2SIP) and 4-phenylpyridine as ligands. The structures of the three complexes are determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, powder X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analyses, Fourier-transform infrared analysis, and photoluminescence. The fluorescent properties of the complexes in the solid state are investigated at room temperature, and the results indicate that they all show photoluminescent properties.

Abstract
A visible-light-enabled, photocatalyst-free conjugate addition reaction of dehydroamino acids is disclosed. Employing 4-acyl-1,4-dihydropyridines as both a radical reservoir and reductant, various β-acyl α-amino acids and their deuterated analogues were obtained in good results. Both late-stage peptide modification and stereoselective synthesis of chiral oxazolidinones are successfully achieved. The protocol is characterized by mild conditions and efficient derivatization, thus unlocking a novel blueprint to access unnatural amino acid derivatives, important building blocks with potential application in the peptidomimetic toolbox.

Abstract
A series of β-ketoamino-based N,O-chelate half-sandwich iridium complexes with the general formula [Cp*IrClL] have been prepared in good yields. These air-insensitive iridium complexes showed desirable catalytic activity in an amide preparation under mild conditions. A number of amides with diverse substituted groups were furnished in a one-pot reaction with good-to-excellent yields through an amidation reaction of NH2OH·HCl with aldehydes in the presence of these iridium(III) precursors. The excellent catalytic activity, mild reaction conditions, and broad substrate scope gave this type of iridium catalyst potential for use in industry. All of the obtained iridium complexes were well characterized by different spectroscopy techniques. The exact molecular structure of complex 3 has been confirmed by single-crystal X-ray analysis.

Abstract
Silver/manganese dioxide (Ag@MnO2) nanorods are synthesized and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction, and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. It was discovered that Ag@MnO2 nanorods can realize hydrogen-borrowing reactions in high yields and are also effective for the synthesis of tert-butyl esters from aryl cyanides and tert-butyl hydroperoxide in a short period of time. Mechanistic experiments revealed that this catalytic system acts as a Lewis acid in hydrogen-borrowing reactions, while the synthesis of tert-butyl esters occurs through a radical pathway. This is the first report on the excellent catalytic activity of Ag@MnO2 nanorods as a catalyst.
