Abstract
The electro-generation of acyl radicals from both aromatic and aliphatic aldehydes remains an unmet challenge. We provide a solution to this challenge by merging electro-oxidation and a quinuclidine-mediated hydrogen atom transfer strategy. The generation of acyl radicals at decreased applied potentials compared to that of formyl oxidation exhibits excellent functional group compatibility.

Abstract
The electrochemical synthesis of α ${\alpha }$ -amino acids at room temperature and pressure is a sustainable alternative to conventional methods like microbial fermentation and Strecker synthesis. A custom-built zero-gap flow electrolyzer was used to study the electrosynthesis of alanine via the electrocatalytic reductive amination (ERA) of the corresponding biomass-derivable α ${\alpha }$ -keto acid precursor - pyruvic acid (PA), and hydroxylamine (NH2OH) at very low pH. Non-toxic, abundant, and easy to prepare TiO2/Ti electrocatalysts were utilized as the cathode. Three TiO2/Ti felt electrodes with different oxide thicknesses were prepared and their characterization results were correlated with their respective electrochemical performance in terms of Faradaic efficiency η ${\eta }$ , and partial current densityj ‾ ${\left|\overline{j}\right|}$ . Cyclic voltammetry indicated a different electrocatalytic reduction process on hydrothermally treated electrodes, compared to thermally oxidized ones. Hydrothermally treated electrodes were also found to have the thickest porous anatase layer and achieved 50-75 % alanine conversion efficiencies. Optimization showed that the cell potential, reactant flow rate and the PA: NH2OH ratio were crucial parameters in determining the conversion efficiency. η ${\eta }$ andj ‾ ${\left|\overline{j}\right|}$ were found to significantly decrease when an excess of is used and, an optimal alanine η ${\eta }$ of 75 % was achieved at 2.0 V applied cell potential and 10 mL/h reactant flow rate.

Abstract
Amino acids are a class of compounds with wide-ranging applications. The synthesis of amino acids from biomass-derived α-keto acids and ammonia is a sustainable way but the unstable primary imine intermediates (R-C=NH) easily form oligomers. Herein, targeting this problem, alkaline modified mesoporous silica was employed as a support for ruthenium (Ru/M-MCM-41), which could be used as a bifunctional catalyst in the reductive amination of α-keto acids to synthesize α-amino acids. The incorporation of Sr improved the dispersion of Ru nanoparticles and enhanced metal-support interactions via electron transfer from Sr to Ru, and the active Ru sites could efficiently hydrogenate primary imine intermediates to α-amino acids, thus prohibiting the formation of oligomers. Moreover, the Sr-dopant introduces base sites that could catalyze the hydrolysis of oligomers back to primary imine intermediates and finally hydrogenated to α-amino acids. As a result, >99 % yield of glycine was achieved from glyoxylic acid over Ru/Sr-MCM-41, which is nearly three times that achieved over Ru/MCM-41 (32.2 %).

Abstract
Elemental white phosphorous (P4 ) is a crucial feedstock for the entire phosphorus-derived chemical industry, serving as a common precursor for the ultimate preparation of high-grade monophosphorus (P1 ) fine chemicals. However, the corresponding manufacturing processes generally suffer from a deep reliance on hazardous reagents, inputs of immense energy, emissions of toxic pollutants, and the generation of substantial waste, which have negative impacts on the environment. In this context, sustainability and safety concerns provide a consistent impetus for the urgent overall improvement of phosphorus cycles. In this Concept, we present an overview of the most recent growth in photo- and electrochemical synthesis of P1 organo-compounds from P4 , with special emphasis on sustainable features. The key aspects of innovations regarding activation mode and mechanism have been comprehensively analyzed. A preliminary look at the possible future direction of development is also provided.

Abstract
A new electrochemical selective annulative amino-ketalization and amino-oxygenation of 1,6-enynes with disulfonimides and alcohols is reported, producing a series of functionalized benzofurans under catalyst- and oxidant-free conditions. The annulative aminoketalization proceeds with simple short-chain alcohols such as methanol, ethanol and n-propanol as O-nucleophilic reagents, while the reaction occurs in the annulative aminooxygenation direction in the presence of water and large steric sec-butyl alcohol (SBA).

Abstract
The organoselenium-catalyzed amination of alkenes is a promising way to construct functionalized amines. However, the use of chemical oxidants and the unavoidable formation of allylic amine or enamine are the two main limitations of these methodologies. Against this background, we herein report an electro-selenocatalytic regime for the hydroazolylation of alkenes with azoles under external oxidant-free conditions with low catalyst loadings. Moreover, this protocol enables the generation of amines without vinyl substituents.

To avoid the residues of metal catalysts, the construction of N-heterocycles under metal-free conditions has attracted much research attention in academia and industry. Among them, the intramolecular electrochemical C-H aminations arguably constitute environmentally friendly methodologies for the metal-free construction of N-heterocycles, mainly due to the direct use of clean electricity as the redox agents. With the recent renaissance of organic electrosynthesis, the intramolecular electrochemical C-H aminations have undergone much progress in recent years. In this article, we would like to summarize the advances in this research field since 2019. The emphasis is placed on the reaction design and mechanistic insight. The challenges and future developments in the intramolecular electrochemical C-H aminations are also discussed.

Abstract
The Minisci alkylation of N-heteroarenes with unactivated alkanes under external oxidant-free conditions provides an economically attractive route to access alkylated N-heteroarenes but remains underdeveloped. Herein, a new electrophotocatalytic strategy to access alkyl radicals from strong C(sp3 )-H bonds was reported for the following Minisci alkylation reactions in the absence of chemical oxidants. This strategy realized the first example of cerium-catalyzed Minisci alkylation reaction directly from abundant unactivated alkanes with excellent atom economy. It is anticipated that the general design principle would enrich catalytic strategies to explore the functionalizations of strong C(sp3 )-H bonds under external oxidant-free conditions with H2 evolution.

Abstract
Herein, a new strategy for the synthesis of monofluoroalkenes via employing α-fluoroacrylic acids and N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI) redox-active esters as coupling partners has been developed. This decarboxylative reaction enabled the formation of C(sp2)-C(sp3) bonds to provide a practical and efficient approach for the construction of a variety of monofluoroalkenes, which are key structural motifs in organic chemistry, under mild reaction conditions. The protocol exhibited excellent functional group compatibility and delivered monofluoroalkene products with excellent Z-stereoselectivity. This work also provides a platform for the modification of complex biologically active molecules containing carboxylic acids.

Abstract
N-Hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI)-mediated electrochemical denitrogenation of aroylhydrazides is developed for the first time. The in situ generated acyl radicals could be intramolecularly trapped to give fluorenones with high efficiencies. This electrochemical method features external oxidant- and transition metal-free conditions. In addition, the use of the catalytic amount of 2,4,6-collidine as the base makes this method more attractive for the syntheses of fluorenones.

Abstract
The electrochemical sulfonylation of enamides with sodium sulfinates was developed in an undivided cell in constant current mode, leading to the formation of β-amidovinyl sulfones in moderate to good yields. The catalyst-, electrolyte- and oxidant-free protocol features good functional group tolerance and employs electric current as a green oxidant. Mechanistic insights into the reaction indicate that the reaction may proceed via a radical mechanism.

Abstract
A thorough study of mild and environmentally friendly electrochemical-induced hydroxylation of aryl halides without a catalyst is presented. The best protocol consists of hydroxylation of different aryl iodides and aryl bromides by water solution in the presence of Et3N under air, affording the target phenols in good isolated yields. Moreover, aryl chlorides were successfully employed as substrates. This methodology also provides a direct pathway for the formation of deoxyphomalone, which displayed a significant anti-proliferation effect.
