Abstract
A new pair of plladium complexes (Pd4 and Pd5) ligated with constrained N-(5,6,7-trihydroquinolin-8-ylidene)arylamine ligands have been prepared and well characterized by 1H-, 13C-NMR and FTIR spectroscopies as well as elemental analysis. The molecular structure of Pd4 and Pd5 in solid state have also been determined by X-ray diffraction, showing slightly distorted square planar geometry around the palladium metal center. All complexes Pd1–Pd5 are revealed highly efficient catalyst in methyl acrylate (MA) polymerization as well as methyl acrylate/norbornene (MA/NB) copolymerization. In the case of MA polymerization, as high as 98.4% conversion with high molecular weight up to 6282 kg·mol−1 was achieved. Likewise, Pd3 complex has good capability to incorporate about 18% NB content into MA polymer chains. Furthermore, low catalyst loadings (0.002 mol %) of Pd4 or Pd5 are able to efficiently mediate the coupling of haloarenes with styrene affording up to 98% conversion.

Abstract
The geometric structures of Pd-complexes {Pd([9]aneB2A)L2 and Pd([9]aneBAB)L2 where A = P, S; B = N; L = PH3, P(CH3)3, Cl-}, their selective orbital interaction towards equatorial or axial (soft A…Pd) coordination of macrocyclic [9]aneB2A tridentate to PdL2, and electron density transfer from the electron-rich trans L-ligand to the low-lying unfilled a1g(5s)-orbital of PdL2 were investigated using B3P86/lanl2DZ for Pd and 6-311+G** for other atoms. The pentacoordinate endo-[Pd([9]aneB2A)(L-donor)2]2+ complex with an axial (soft A--Pd) quasi-bond was optimized for stability. The fifth (soft A--Pd) quasi-bond between the σ-donor of soft A and the partially unfilled a1g(5s)-orbital of PdL2 was formed. The pentacoordinate endo-Pd([9]aneB2A)(L-donor)2]2+ complex has been found to be more stable than the corresponding tetracoordinate endo-Pd complexes. Except for the endo-Pd pentacoordinates, the tetracoordinate Pd([9]aneBAB)L2 complex with one equatorial (soft A-Pd) bond is found to be more stable than the Pd([9]aneB2A)L2 isomer without the equatorial (A-Pd) bond. In particular, the geometric configuration of endo-[Pd([9]anePNP)(L-donor)2]2+ could not be optimized.

Abstract
A series of Ru(II) mixed-ligand complexes RuBr(2)(PPh(3))(2)(N-AyBzTh) (Ay = prop-2-enyl; BzTh = benzothiazol-2-ylidene) (4), RuBr(OAc)(PPh(3))(N-MeAyBzTh) (5), RuBr(OAc)(PPh(3))(N-MeBnBzTh)(2) (MeBn = 3-methylbut-2-enyl) (6) and RuCl(OAc)(PPh(3))(N-MeBnBzTh) (7) have been synthesized from Ru(OAc)(2)(PPh(3))(2) in one-pot condensation and ligand exchange reactions. X-ray single-crystal diffraction analysis revealed that they are neutral octahedral Ru(II) complexes with one or two N,S-heterocyclic carbene (NSHC) ligands and a coordinated (4, 5 and 7) or dangling (6) olefin arm. The system displays a range of self-selecting structural variations. Entry of the hybrid olefin-NSHC and halide ligands ejects either one (5, 6 and 7) phosphine ligand or keeps both phosphines (4) by replacing the acetate. It is also possible to accommodate two NSHC ligands by keeping the olefin pendant (6). Complexes 5 and 7 are isostructural with all different ligands on the coordination sphere. Complexes 4-6 are active towards transfer hydrosilylation showing good β(Z) selectivity, with the Ru(II) bearing acetate giving higher yields.

Abstract
Previous work has established that polyisoprene (PI) coronas in cylindrical block copolymer micelles with a poly(ferrocenyldimethylsilane) (PFS) core can be irreversibly cross-linked by hydrosilylation using (HSiMe(2))(2)O in the presence of Karstedt's catalyst. We now show that treatment of cylindrical PI-b-PFS micelles with Karstedt's catalyst alone, in the absence of any silanes, leads to PI coronal cross-linking through Pt(0)-olefin coordination. The cross-linking can be reversed through the addition of 2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane (dppe), a strong bidentate ligand, which removes the platinum from the PI to form Pt(dppe)(2). The Pt(0) cross-linking of PI was studied with self-assembled cylindrical PI-b-PFS block copolymer micelles, where the cross-linking was found to dramatically increase the stability of the micellar structures. The Pt(0)-alkene coordination-induced cross-linking can be used to provide transmission electron microscopy contrast between PI and poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) corona domains in block comicelles as the process selectively increases the electron density of the PI regions. Moreover, following the assembly of a hierarchical scarf-shaped comicelle consisting of a PFS-b-PDMS platelet template with PI-b-PFS tassels, Pt(0)-induced cross-linking of the PI coronal regions allowed for the selective removal of the PFS-b-PDMS center, leaving behind an unprecedented hollowed-out scarf structure. The addition of Karstedt's catalyst to PI or polybutadiene homopolymer toluene/xylene solutions resulted in the formation of polymer gels which underwent de-gelation upon the addition of dppe.
