Abstract
The development of an advanced dye adsorbent that possesses a range of beneficial characteristics, such as high adsorption capacity, swift adsorption kinetics, selective adsorption capability, and robust reusability, remains a challenge. This study introduces a facile method for fabricating an amine-rich porous adsorbent (ARPA), which is specifically engineered for the adsorptive removal of anionic dyes from aqueous solutions. Through a comprehensive assessment, we have evaluated the adsorption performance of ARPA using two benchmark dyes: amaranth (ART) and tartrazine (TTZ). Our findings indicate that the adsorption process reaches equilibrium in a remarkably short timeframe of just 20 min, and it exhibits an excellent correlation with both the Langmuir isotherm model and the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. Furthermore, ARPA has demonstrated an exceptional maximum adsorption capacity, with values of 675.68 mg g-1 for ART and 534.76 mg g-1 for TTZ. In addition to its high adsorption capacity, ARPA has also shown remarkable selectivity, as evidenced by its ability to selectively adsorb TTZ from a mixed dye solution, a feature that is highly desirable for practical applications. Beyond its impressive adsorption capabilities, ARPA can be efficiently regenerated and recycled. It maintains a high level of original removal efficiency for both ART (76.8%) and TTZ (78.9%) even after five consecutive cycles of adsorption and desorption. Considering the simplicity of its synthesis and its outstanding adsorption performance, ARPA emerges as a highly promising material for use in dye removal applications. Consequently, this paper presents a straightforward and feasible method for the production of an effective dye adsorbent for environmental remediation.

Abstract
Imidazoline-linked cationic covalent triazine framework (IM-iCTF) was facilely prepared through the Debus-Radziszewski reaction, involving 4,4',4''-(1,3,5-triazine-2,4,6-triyl)trianiline, formaldehyde and methylglyoxal. The IM-iCTF was applied as a sorbent for cartridge solid-phase extraction (SPE). It provided good adsorption performance for estrogen and estrogen mimics including bisphenol F, bisphenol A, 7β-estradiol, bisphenol B and estrone. The adsorption isotherm, adsorption kinetic model, thermodynamic calculations and adsorption mechanism were investigated to reveal the adsorption behavior. The IM-iCTF was employed for the extraction of the estrogens and estrogen mimics from water, fish and shrimp (fish and shrimp samples were extracted with acetonitrile before the SPE). The analytes were then determined by high-performance liquid chromatography with diode array detection. The limits of detection were 0.008-0.05 ng mL-1 for water, 0.015-0.11 μg g-1 for fish, and 0.012-0.10 μg g-1 for shrimp samples. This research not only offers a new approach to construct cationic covalent triazine framework, but also provides a reliable strategy for the adsorption/enrichment trace level of organic pollutants.

Abstract
In this study, TiO2/P, K-containing grapefruit peel biochar (TiO2/P, K-PC) composites were synthesized in situ biomimetically using grapefruit peel as the bio-template and carbon source and tetrabutyl titanate as the titanium source. This was achieved using the two-step rotary impregnation-calcination method. Adjusting the calcination temperature of the sample in an air atmosphere could regulate the mass ratio of TiO2 to carbon. The prepared samples were subjected to an analysis of their compositions, structures, morphologies, and properties. It demonstrated that the prepared samples were complexes of anatase TiO2 and P, K-containing carbon, with the presence of graphitic carbon. They possessed a unique morphological structure with abundant pores and a large surface area. The grapefruit peel powder played a crucial role in the induction and assembly of TiO2/P, K-PC composites. The sample PCT-400-550 had the best photocatalytic activity, with the degradation rate of RhB, MO, and MB dye solutions reaching more than 99% within 30 min, with satisfactory cyclic stability. The outstanding photocatalytic activity can be credited to its unique morphology and the efficient collaboration between TiO2 and P, K-containing biochar.

Abstract
The removal of Cr(VI), a highly-toxic heavy metal, from industrial wastewater is a critical issue in water treatment research. Photocatalysis, a promising technology to solve the Cr(VI) pollution problem, requires urgent and continuous improvement to enhance its performance. To address this need, an electric field-assisted photocatalytic system (PCS) was proposed to meet the growing demand for industrial wastewater treatment. Firstly, we selected PAF-54, a nitrogen-rich porous organic polymer, as the PCS's catalytic material. PAF-54 exhibits a large adsorption capacity (189 mg/g) for Cr(VI) oxyanions through hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interaction. It was then coated on carbon paper (CP) and used as the photocatalytic electrode. The synergy between capacitive deionization (CDI) and photocatalysis significantly promotes the photoreduction of Cr(VI). The photocatalytic performance was enhanced due to the electric field's influence on the mass transfer process, which could strengthen the enrichment of Cr(VI) oxyanions and the repulsion of Cr(III) cations on the surface of PAF-54/CP electrode. In addition, the PCS system demonstrates excellent recyclability and stability, making it a promising candidate for chromium wastewater treatment.

Abstract
An in vivo solid-phase microextraction (SPME) fiber with high-coverage capture capacity of plant endogenous substances based on the porous covalent triazine framework (CTF) material was developed. The CTF fiber coupled with gas chromatographic quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometer (GC-QTOF-MS) analysis was used for monitoring untargeted endogenous metabolites in living Chinese cabbage plants (Brassica campestris L. ssp. chinensis Makino (var. communis Tsen et Lee)). A total of 100 endogenous substances were identified, mainly including aldehydes, ketones, acids, alcohols, phenols, alkanes, alkenes, esters, isorhodanates, nitriles, as well as indole and its derivatives. Using the in vivo metabolites analysis method, Chinese cabbage plants at different growing stages demonstrated significantly statistical differences in plant metabolism. In addition, metabolic dysregulation of Chinese cabbage plants under fipronil pesticide contamination was observed. To summarize, the proposed approach provides a feasible method to capture metabolic information in living vegetables and for risk assessment of pesticide use during agricultural production.

Abstract
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are class of porous coordination polymers made up of organic building blocks joined together by covalent bonding through thermodynamic and controlled reversible polymerization reactions. This review discussed versatile applications of COFs for remediation of wastewater containing dyes, emphasizing the advantages of both pristine and modified materials in adsorption, membrane separation, and advanced oxidations processes. The excellent performance of COFs towards adsorption and membrane filtration has been centered to their higher crystallinity and porosity, exhibiting exceptionally high surface area, pore size and pore volumes. Thus, they provide more active sites for trapping the dye molecules. On one hand, the photocatalytic performance of the COFs was attributed to their semiconducting properties, and when coupled with other functional semiconducting materials, they achieve good mechanical and thermal stabilities, positive light response, and narrow band gap, a typical characteristic of excellent photocatalysts. As such, COFs and their composites have demonstrated excellent potentialities for the elimination of the dyes.

Abstract
Synthesis of fully triazine frameworks (C3N3) by metal catalyzed reactions at high temperatures results in carbonized and less-defined structures. Moreover, metal impurities affect the physicochemical, optical and electrical properties of the synthesized frameworks, dramatically. In this work, two-dimensional C3N3 (2DC3N3) has been synthesized by in situ catalyst-free copolymerization of sodium cyanide and cyanuric chloride, as cheap and commercially available precursors, at ambient conditions on gram scale. Reaction between sodium cyanide and cyanuric chloride resulted in electron-poor polyfunctional intermediates, which converted to 2DC3N3 with several hundred micrometers lateral size at ambient conditions upon [2 + 2+2] cyclotrimerization. 2DC3N3 sheets, in bulk and individually, showed strong fluorescence with 63% quantum yield and sensitive to small objects such as dyes and metal ions. The sensitivity of 2DC3N3 emission to foreign objects was used to detect low concentration of water impurities. Due to the high negative surface charge (-37.7 mV) and dispersion in aqueous solutions, they demonstrated a high potential to remove positively charged dyes from water, exemplified by excellent removal efficiency (>99%) for methylene blue. Taking advantage of the straightforward production and strong interactions with dyes and metal ions, 2DC3N3 was integrated in filters and used for the fast detection and efficient removal of water impurities.

Abstract
In this work, we used Cu(II) ions, a bis-pyridyl-bis-amide ligand [N,N'-bis(4-pyridinecarboxamide)-1,2-cyclohexane (4-bpah)], and an aromatic dicarboxylic acid [1,4-cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid (H2CHDA)] to construct a 1D binuclear Cu-based complex, namely {[Cu3(4-bpah)(CHDA)3(H2O)]·2H2O}n (1). Moreover, we also developed a facile method to synthesize two monometallic/bimetallic-doped materials which were derived from the Cu complex (C-N-1 and C-V-1, which were doped with nitrogen and vanadium, respectively). The as-synthesized derived materials were fully characterized and the iodine sorption/release capabilities were investigated in detail. We performed iodine adsorption experiments on the two monometallic/bimetallic-doped materials and found that C-N-1 and C-V-1 possess highly efficient adsorption activities for the adsorption of iodine from solution. The C-N-1 and C-V-1 complexes exhibited remarkable adsorption capacities of 1141.60 and 1170.70 mg g-1, respectively, for iodine from a cyclohexane solution. Moreover, the dye adsorption properties of C-N-1 and C-V-1 were also investigated in detail. The obtained C-N-1 and C-V-1 exhibit effective dye uptake performances in water solution. The adsorption of Congo red (CR) on a single metal carbon material C-N-1 doped with heteroatoms reached equilibrium within 240 min and reached an adsorption capacity of 1357.00 mg g-1 and the adsorption capacities of C-V-1 for methylene blue (MB), gentian violet (GV), rhodamine B (RhB), and CR at room temperature were found to be 187.60, 190.60 and 108.10 and 1501.00 mg g-1 in 180 min, respectively. By comparison, we found that doping vanadium could play an important role in the adsorption processes. The adsorption capacity of C-V-1 (containing the vanadium in its structure) was relatively higher than that of C-N-1, which indicated that the introduction of non-noble metals may effectively tune the adsorption kinetics activity and the introduction of noble metals can change the surface electronegativity of porous carbon materials, thus leading to significantly improved adsorption capabilities.

Abstract
Chitosan in situ grown polyamidoamine (CTS-Gx PAMAM (x = 0, 1, 2, 3)) aerogels were fabricated by a facile one-step freeze-drying method, with glutaraldehyde serving as a crosslinker. The three-dimensional skeletal structure of aerogel provided numerous adsorption sites and accelerated the effective mass transfer of pollutants. The adsorption kinetics and isotherm studies of the two anionic dyes were consistent with the pseudo-second-order and Langmuir models, indicating that the removal of rose bengal (RB) and sunset yellow (SY) was a monolayer chemisorption process. The maximum adsorption capacity of RB and SY reached 370.28 mg/g and 343.31 mg/g, respectively. After five adsorption-desorption cycles, the adsorption capacities of the two anionic dyes reached 81.10% and 84.06% of the initial adsorption capacities, respectively. The major mechanism between the aerogels and dyes was systematically investigated based on using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive spectroscopy analyses, confirming that electrostatic interaction, hydrogen bonding and van der Waals interactions were the main driving forces for the superior adsorption performance. Furthermore, the CTS-G2 PAMAM aerogel exhibited good filtration and separation performance. Overall, the novel aerogel adsorbent possesses excellent theoretical guidance and practical application potential for the purification of anionic dyes.

Abstract
Dye wastewater discharged from industries has caused serious environmental problems. The recent decade has witnessed adsorption technology emerging as an advanced dye wastewater treatment method with great potential Therefore, we fabricated two kinds of magnetic porous adsorbents (HSF and HSVF) with different specific surface areas and activity sites. Both of which exhibit excellent performance with remarkable dye adsorption capacities, especially HSVF. We further investigated their adsorption kinetic and isotherm in detail. Therein, HSVF showed a nice desorption capacity, and it could be recycled rapidly by magnetism, which exhibited the advantages of effective, easy operation, and low cost. In addition, their adsorption kinetic and isotherm were further studied and compared in detail. The results revealed that introducing strong active sites could improve both the adsorption capacity and rate effectively even though sacrificing part of specific surface areas, indicating that active sites might play a dominant role during the dye adsorption process.

Abstract
Rational design of adsorbed materials with three-dimensional (3D) hierarchical porous structure, sustainable, high adsorption capacity, and excellent selective is of great significance in practical applications. Herein, a novel aerogel adsorbed material with 3D hierarchical porous architecture was fabricated by employing naturally abundant sodium alginate (SA)/gellan gum (GG) as basic construction blocks to achieve sustainability as well as applying polyethyleneimine (PEI) as functional material for highly efficient and selective capture of Congo red (CR). The aerogel sorbent exhibited strong microstructure, numerous active adsorption sites and being ultralight. The resulting aerogel adsorbent showed high adsorption capacity (3017.23 mg/g) toward CR, exceedingly most previously reported sorbents. Furthermore, the aerogel adsorbent was accompanied by outstanding selectivity for CR in four binary dye systems. Meanwhile, after 3 cycles, the adsorption capacity decreased by 14.8 %, but still maintained the adsorption capacity of 559.79 mg/g. Therefore, excellent adsorption performance, and superb selectivity prefigures its great prospects for wastewater purification.

Abstract
Present work addresses the synthesis of microporous activated carbon (SDAC) by a facile thermochemical conversion of teak sawdust powder. The high surface area (1999 m2 g-1), excellent microporosity (average pore size: 2.62 nm), and turbostratic carbon structure with intertwined graphitic domains make SDAC a highly efficient adsorptive material for the removal of organic pollutants. The spectroscopic analyses (FTIR, Raman, and XPS) and adsorption locator calculations revealed multiple interactions between organic dyes and SDAC adsorbent, i.e., electrostatic, π-π, n-π interactions, and hydrogen linkages. The size, chemical functionalities, aromatic rings, electronegative and heteroatoms in dye molecules, along with the surface-active sites, microstructured and textural features of SDAC adsorbent collectively governed the interaction pathways and adsorption efficiency. The calculated adsorption energy using Monte Carlo-based simulation annealing method signified faster and higher adsorption of malachite green than methylene blue dye at surface-active sites (-COOH, CO, C-OH, and π-electron-rich domains) of SDAC adsorbent, corroborating the experimental results. The batch-mode adsorptive separation results showed remarkably high adsorption efficiency (>99%) for industrial wastewater to remove cationic and anionic dyes together. The SDAC displayed significantly high adsorption of methylene blue dye (625 mg.g-1) with excellent recyclability without measurable loss of adsorption efficiency even after ten cycles. The SDAC fixed-bed column showed a dye removal capacity of 594 mg.g-1 at 90% breakthrough in a continuous-mode process signifying its applicability for a real-time industrial run. The excellent conformity between batch mode and fixed bed continuous column adsorption data, along with higher removal capacity and remarkable recyclability, promise the use of SDAC adsorbent for industrial wastewater treatment to remove multiple organic pollutants.

Abstract
The motive of this work is to synthesis aromatic polyimides by a two-step poly condensation process and the prepared aromatic polyamides (APIs) is been used as an effective functionalized adsorbent for the removal of carcinogenic crystal violet (CV) from aqueous medium. The adsorption efficiency of the APIs was enhanced by incorporation different functional moieties (varying aromatic dianhydrides with -O-, -(CF3)2-, -(CH3)2-) in the polymer structure. The initial and final concentration of CV was measured using UV-Vis spectrometer. The adsorption process was optimized by varying the parameters such as the effect of solution pH, contact time, initial dye concentration, and adsorbent dosage. Kinetics and isotherms of the adsorption system were appraised using data obtained from effect of contact time and initial dye concentration with corresponding empirical modelling techniques respectively. The evaluated results of the adsorption kinetic studies confirmed that the adsorption of API onto CV is followed a pseudo-second-order kinetic model. The adsorption behaviour and their interactions between APIs and CV are well established. The experimental results of this research output could be confirmed that APIs is a very effective adsorbent for the removal of cationic dye from aqueous.

Abstract
A covalent organic framework named N-COF was successfully constructed by the aldehyde-amine condensation reaction between 2,4,6-tris (4-formyl phenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine and 1,3-bis(4-aminophenyl) urea for the first time. The prepared N-COF exhibited good stability and high affinity to organochlorine pesticides (OCPs). Thus, the N-COF was served as solid phase microextraction fiber coating for extraction of six OCPs from vegetables and fruits including romaine lettuce, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, apple, pear and peach, followed by quantitation with gas chromatography-electron capture detector (GC-ECD). Under the optimal conditions, good linearities for the OCPs existed in the ranges from 0.1 to 1.0 ng g-1 to 100.0 ng g-1 for the samples. The low limits of detection for analytes were obtained in the range of 0.03-0.3 ng g-1. The present work can offer new alternative for sensitive analysis of trace level of OCPs in vegetables and fruits.

Abstract
Melamine foam (MF) is a widely used commercial product and exhibits wide applications in many fields ranging from building, transportation to daily chemical product. Recent researches confirm that the special three-dimensional (3D) framework structure of MF can be an ideal substrate to prepare functional materials. In this work, the water-soluble polyethylenimine (PEI) was grafted onto the framework of MF to develop the water purification material toward heavy metal ions removal. The grafting of PEI on MF was achieved with the aids of polydopamine (PDA) coating and epoxy chloropropane (ECH) cross-linking successively. The 3D framework of MF could be well reserved and PEI was homogeneously grafted onto the framework surface. The adsorption capacity of the adsorbent was dependent upon the molecular wight of PEI. Lower PEI molecular weight endowed the adsorbent with better adsorption ability. The maximum adsorption capacity reached 328.95 mg/g, and the adsorbent exhibited extremely high adsorption stability with increasing cycling measurement numbers. Further results showed that the adsorbent also exhibited high reduction ability and induced about 62.5% toxic Cr(VI) to be reduced. This work confirms that the PEI-modified MF sample is a promising adsorbent in the removal of heavy metal ions and it can be used in wastewater treatment.

Abstract
Wastewater treatment is of great significance to environmental remediation. The exploration of efficient and stable methods for wastewater treatment is still a challenging issue. Herein, a heterojunction material with photocatalysis and adsorption properties has been designed to remove the complex pollutants from wastewater. The heterojunction material (ZnO/TiO2 -PW12 , PW12 =[PW12 O40 ]3- ) was synthesized by calcining the ZnTi-layered double hydroxide (ZnTi-LDH) intercalated with the Keggin-type polyoxometalate H3 PW12 O40 . In the construction of ZnO/TiO2 -PW12 it was found that the polyanionic PW12 remained unchanged in the process of forming the proposed heterojunction. The photochemical properties verify that heterojunction synergistic with PW12 facilitated the separation of photoproduced electron-hole pairs and thus suppressed the recombination. Therefore, ZnO/TiO2 -PW12 exhibits excellent photocatalytic property, and the efficiency of Cr(VI) photoreduction reached more than 90 % in the first 3 min. Furthermore, the electrostatic force between the PW12 and cationic dyes makes ZnO/TiO2 -PW12 having an outstanding adsorption performance for cationic dyes, such as rhodamine B, crystal violet and methyl blue. Such heterojunction material combined with polyoxometalate puts forward new insights for the design of functional materials for water treatment with low cost and high efficiency.

Abstract
Even in the first quarter of the XXI century, the presence of organic dyes in wastewaters was a normal occurrence in a series of countries. As these compounds are toxic, their removal from these waters is a necessity. Among the separation technologies, adsorption processing appeared as one of the most widely used to reach this goal. The present work reviewed the most recent approaches (first half of the 2021 year) regarding the use of a variety of adsorbents in the removal of a variety of organic dyes of different natures.
