Abstract
Catalytic asymmetric hydroboration of unsaturated bonds has been recognized as the most straightforward method for the construction of chiral organoboron compounds. Although catalytic asymmetric hydroboration of alkenes has been well-developed, enantioselective hydroboration of allenes still remains rare probably due to the challenges in controlling the enantio-, stereo-, and regioselectivity. Additionally, the hydroboration products might go through over-borohydride, making the catalytic asymmetric dihydroboration of allenes challenging. Here, we report a cobalt-catalyzed asymmetric dihydroboration of allenes using a ligand relay strategy with two simple ligands. This protocol shows excellent enantio-, stereo-, and regioselectivity with positive functional group compatibilities in the construction of chiral 1,4-diboronate products. The applications of this reaction are demonstrated by various product derivatizations, gram-scale reactions, and the preparation of artigenin analogues. Mechanistic studies indicate that the achiral ligand controls the first hydroboration of allenes, and the chiral oxazoline iminopyridine ligand is responsible for the subsequent isomerization and asymmetric hydroboration.

Abstract
Monofluoroalkenes serve as nonhydrolyzable mimetics of amides and are frequently encountered in drug candidates. Herein we report a regio-, enantio-, and stereoselective NiH-catalyzed ipso- and migratory defluorinative olefin cross-coupling employing readily available olefins and gem-difluoroalkenes under mild conditions. This approach enables the efficient synthesis of a broad array of structurally diverse monofluoroalkenes bearing a tertiary allylic stereogenic center. Mechanistically, the challenging migratory defluorinative olefin cross-coupling process is successfully realized through a ligand relay catalytic strategy, enabling the formal C(sp3)-H/C(sp2)-F activation with high levels of regio-, stereo-, and enantiocontrol.

Abstract
Complementary to the design of a single structurally complex chiral ligand to promote each step in transition-metal catalysis, multiligand relay catalysis through dynamic ligand exchange with each step in the catalytic cycle promoted by its best ligand provides an attractive approach to enhance the whole reaction reactivity and selectivity. Herein, a regio- and enantioselective NiH-catalyzed migratory hydroarylation process with a simple combination of a chain-walking ligand and an asymmetric arylation ligand, producing high-value chiral α-(hetero)aryl-substituted amines and their derivatives under mild conditions, is reported. The potential synthetic applications of this transformation are demonstrated by the concise synthesis of (S)-nicotine and a CDK8 inhibitor.

Abstract
Transition metal-catalyzed direct decarboxylative transformations of aromatic carboxylic acids usually require high temperatures, which limit the substrate's scope, especially for late-stage applications. The development of the selective decarbonylative of carboxylic acid derivatives, especially the most fundamental aroyl chlorides, with stable and cheap electrophiles under mild conditions is highly desirable and meaningful, but remains challenging. Herein, a strategy of nickel-catalyzed decarbonylative alkylation of aroyl chlorides via phosphine/nitrogen ligand relay is reported. The simple phosphine ligand is found essential for the decarbonylation step, while the nitrogen ligand promotes the cross-electrophile coupling. Such a ligand relay system can effectively and orderly carry out the catalytic process at room temperature, utilizing easily available aroyl chlorides as an aryl electrophile for reductive alkylation. This discovery provides a new strategy for direct decarbonylative coupling, features operationally simple, mild conditions, and excellent functional group tolerance. The mild approach is applied to the late-stage methylation of various pharmaceuticals. Extensive experiments are carried out to provide insights into the reaction pathway and support the ligand relay process.

Abstract
Alkenylboronates are highly versatile building blocks and valuable reagents in the synthesis of complex molecules. Compared with that of monosubstituted alkenylboronates, the synthesis of multisubstituted alkenylboronates is challenging. The copper-catalyzed carboboration of alkynes is an operationally simple and straightforward method for synthesizing bis/trisubstituted alkenylboronates. In this work, a series of copper-metallized N-Heterocyclic Carbene (NHC) ligand porous polymer catalysts are designed and synthesized in accordance with the mechanism of carboboration. By using CuCl@POL-NHC-Ph as the optimal nanocatalyst, this study realizes the β-regio- and stereoselective (syn-addition) 1,2-carboboration of alkynes (regioselectivity up to >99:1) with satisfactory yields and a wide range of substrates. This work not only overcomes the selectivity of carboboration but also provides a new strategy for the design of nanocatalysts and their application in organic synthesis.

Abstract
Suzuki-Miyaura cross-couplings (SMC) are powerful tools for the construction of carbon-carbon bonds. However, the couplings of sp3-hybridized alkyl halides with arylborons often encounter several problematic issues such as sluggish oxidation addition of alkyl halides and competitive β-hydride elimination side pathways of metal-alkyl species. In precedent reports, copper is mainly utilized for the coupling of sp2-aryl halides, and the cross-couplings with unactivated alkyl halides are far less reported. Herein, we demonstrate that a high-efficiency copper system enabled the coupling of arylborons with various unactivated secondary and primary alkyl halides including bromides, iodides, and even robust chlorides. The present system features broad scope, excellent functionality tolerance, scalability, and practicality. Moreover, the current system could be applied for the late-stage functionalization of complex molecules in moderate to high efficiency.

Abstract
Herein, we report an unprecedented copper-catalyzed highly enantio- and diastereoselective radical oxyboration of β-substituted styrenes. The lynchpin of success is ascribed to the development of a late-stage stereomutation strategy, which enables enantioenriched cis-isomers among a couple of early-generated diastereomers to be converted into trans-isomer counterparts, thus fulfilling high diastereocontrol; while the degree of enantio-differentiation is determined by the borocupration process of the C=C bond. This reaction provides an efficient protocol to access enantioenriched trans-1,2- dioxygenation products. The value of this method has further been highlighted in a diversity of follow-up stereospecific transformations and further modifying complex molecules.

Abstract
Stereochemically defined tetrasubstituted olefins are widespread structural elements of organic molecules and key intermediates in organic synthesis. However, flexible methods enabling stereodivergent access to E and Z isomers of fully substituted alkenes from a common precursor represent a significant challenge and are actively sought after in catalysis, especially those amenable to complex multifunctional molecules. Herein, we demonstrate that iterative dual-metal and energy transfer catalysis constitutes a unique platform for achieving stereodivergence in the difunctionalization of internal alkynes. The utility of this approach is showcased by the stereodivergent synthesis of both stereoisomers of tetrasubstituted β-boryl acrylates from internal alkynoates with excellent stereocontrol via sequential carboboration and photoisomerization. The reluctance of electron-deficient internal alkynes to undergo catalytic carboboration has been overcome through cooperative Cu/Pd-catalysis, whereas an Ir complex was identified as a versatile sensitizer that is able to photoisomerize the resulting sterically crowded alkenes. Mechanistic studies by means of quantum-chemical calculations, quenching experiments, and transient absorption spectroscopy have been applied to unveil the mechanism of both steps.

Abstract
Metal/ligand in situ assembly is crucial for tailoring the reactivity & selectivity in transition metal catalysis. Cooperative catalysis via a single metal/two ligands is still underdeveloped, since it is rather challenging to harness the distinct reactivity profiles of the species generated by self-assembly of a single metal precursor with a mixture of different ligands. Herein, we report a catalytic system composed of a single metal/two ligands for a three-component reaction of polyfluoroarene, α-diazo ester, and allylic electrophile, leading to highly efficient construction of densely functionalized quaternary carbon centers, that are otherwise hardly accessible. Mechanistic studies suggest this reaction follows a cooperative bimetallic pathway via two catalysts with distinct reactivity profiles, which are assembled in situ from a single metal precursor and two ligands and work in concert to escort the transformation.

Abstract
![]()
A dual catalyst system
based on ligand exchange of two diphosphine
ligands possessing different properties in a copper complex has been
devised to merge metal- and photocatalytic activation modes. This
strategy has been applied to the formal anti-hydroboration of activated
internal alkynes via a tandem sequence in which Cu/Xantphos catalyzes
the B2pin2-syn-hydroboration
of the alkyne whereas Cu/BINAP serves as a photocatalyst for visible
light-mediated isomerization of the resulting alkenyl boronic ester.
Photochemical studies by means of UV–vis absorption, steady-state
and time-resolved fluorescence, and transient absorption spectroscopy
have allowed characterizing the photoactive Cu/BINAP species in the
isomerization reaction and its interaction with the intermediate syn-alkenyl boronic ester through energy transfer from the
triplet excited state of the copper catalyst. In addition, mechanistic
studies shed light into catalyst speciation and the interplay between
the two catalytic cycles as critical success factors.

Regio- and enantioselective remote hydroarylation using a ligand-relay strategy. Nat Commun 2022; 13:2471. Abstract
The design of a single complicated chiral ligand to well-promote each step of an asymmetric cascade reaction is sometimes a formidable challenge in transition metal catalysis. In this work, a highly regio- and enantioselective Ni-catalysed migratory hydroarylation relay process has been achieved with the combination of two simple ligands, one which accomplishes chain-walking and the other causing asymmetric arylation. This formal asymmetric C(sp3)−H arylation provides direct access to a wide range of structurally diverse chiral 1,1-diarylalkanes, a structural unit found in a number of bioactive molecules. The value of this strategy was further demonstrated by the Ni-catalysed migratory asymmetric 1,3-arylboration. Migratory alkene isomerizations and cross-coupling reactions are both possible under nickel catalysis, but usually require different conditions. Here the authors show a combined protocol to isomerize a double bond and then, via an in-situ exchange of ligands, perform an enantioselective C(sp2)–C(sp3) cross-coupling.

Abstract
Herein, we report a distinctive photoredox/copper dual-catalyzed esterification of benzylic C-H bonds through the combination of photoredox-mediated hydrogen atom transfer and Cu(II)-mediated radical-polar crossover. This methodology demonstrates a high functional group tolerance (>40 examples) and moderate to good yields with structurally diverse benzylic C-H substrates. Notably, stoichiometric amounts of carboxylic acids are used as coupling partners, which allows the synthesis of structurally diverse benzylic esters and the late-stage functionalization of pharmaceuticals.
