Abstract
Countercurrent chromatography (CCC) is a potent separation approach known for its remarkable efficiency and capacity in preparation. It's applied as a substitute or combined with different chromatographic techniques, resulting in its rebranding as multidimensional CCC (MDCCC). Numerous essential mixtures from natural products contain hundreds or thousands of distinct components of importance. These mix types are too complicated to separate in any reasonable time using a single CCC dimension. However, if a multidimensional technique is utilized, where a complex mixture is separated by an initial dimension, smaller fractions of that separation are gathered. Each fraction is studied individually; complex mixes can be resolved relatively quickly. Thus, several MDCCC separation features have been studied to demonstrate their advantages, limitations, and prospective capacity to separate exceedingly complex mixtures. In this review, MDCCC aspects, including principles, multiple columns system, multilayer coil J-type, on-line monitoring system, and applications, have been thoroughly_explored.

Abstract
Ionic liquids (ILs) are poorly-coordinated ionic salts that can exist as a liquid at room temperatures (or <100 °C). ILs are also referred to as "designer solvents" because so many of them have been created to solve particular synthetic issues. ILs are regarded as "green solvents" because they have several distinctive qualities, including better ionic conduction, recyclability, improved solvation ability, low volatility, and thermal stability. These have been at the forefront of the most innovative fields of science and technology during the past few years. ILs may be employed in new drug formulation development and drug design in the field of pharmacy for various functions such as improvement of solubility, targeted drug delivery, stabilizer, permeability enhancer, or improvement of bioavailability in the development of pharmaceutical or vaccine dosage formulations. Ionic liquids have become a key component in various areas such as synthetic and catalytic chemistry, extraction, analytics, biotechnology, etc., due to their superior abilities along with highly modifiable potential. This study concentrates on the usage of ILs in various pharmaceutical applications enlisting their numerous purposes from the delivery of drugs to pharmaceutical synthesis. To better comprehend cuttingedge technologies in IL-based drug delivery systems, highly focused mechanistic studies regarding the synthesis/preparation of ILs and their biocompatibility along with the ecotoxicological and biological effects need to be studied. The use of IL techniques can address key issues regarding pharmaceutical preparations such as lower solubility and bioavailability which plays a key role in the lack of effectiveness of significant commercially available drugs.

Abstract
Due to the structural similarity and large difference in concentration, the separation of trans- and cis-crocetin has been challenging, and the cis-crocetin is usually neglected. In this work, a countercurrent chromatography method was developed for the quick separation of trans-crocetin and cis-crocetin from the hydrolytic extract of Gardenia jasminoides Ellis. High purity of trans-crocetin (>95%) and cis-crocetin (>91%) were prepared simultaneously for the first time through a novel biphasic system based on deep eutectic solvents, n-heptane/n-butyl alcohol/13 mmol/L Na2 CO3 in water/acetamide-benzyltrimethylammonium chloride (4:1, mol/mol) (4:7:9:1, v/v). The addition of deep eutectic solvent significantly improved the separation efficiency. The two targets can be easily recovered from the separation system through simple acidification and precipitation. It has potential for preparative separations on a large scale.

Abstract
In recent years, as the demand for precision nutrition is continuously increasing, scientific studies have shown that high-purity eicosapentaenoic acid ethyl ester (EPA-EE) functions more efficiently than mixed omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid preparations in diseases such as hyperlipidemia, heart disease, major depression, and heart disease; therefore, the market demand for EPA-EE is growing by the day. In this paper, we attempt to review EPA-EE from a whole-manufacturing-chain perspective. First, the extraction, refining, and ethanolysis processes (fish oil and ethanol undergo transesterification) of EPA-EE are described, emphasizing the potential of green substitute technologies. Then, the method of EPA enrichment is thoroughly detailed, the pros and cons of different methods are compared, and current developments in monomer production techniques are addressed. Finally, a summary of current advanced strategies for dealing with the low oxidative stability and low bioavailability of EPA-EE is presented. In conclusion, understanding the entire production process of EPA-EE will enable us to govern each step from a macro perspective and accomplish the best use of EPA-EE in a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly way.

Abstract
Lutein is an important functional food ingredient. However, its recovery processes developed so far seem to fail in sustainability criteria, regarding the urgent need for improved extraction ability while maintaining stability. This work aimed to study the design and application of natural deep eutectic solvent (NADES) for lutein recovery from Scenedesmus sp with the aid of COSMO-RS. The performance of the novel fenchyl alcohol/thymol-based system was studied comprehensively under different extraction parameters. Furthermore, thermal, light and storage stability of lutein in NADES were investigated. It was found that lutein recovery from microalgae should be performed using equimolar hydrogen-bond acceptor/donor at 60 °C within 70 min. The NADES could increase lutein yield compared with the conventional methodology using organic solvents. Besides, it significantly enhanced the lutein stability under various conditions. Hydrogen bond and Van der Waals interaction play crucial roles during target processing, elucidated by theoretical calculations and nuclear magnetic resonance.

Abstract
Guanidinium-based ionic liquids possess lower toxicity and greater designability than commonly used species and have presented good performances in liquid-phase extraction and stationary phase for capillary gas chromatography. In the present work, a novel type of surface-confined guanidinium ionic liquid stationary phase was developed by bonding a hexaalkylguanidinium ionic liquid N,N,N',N'-tetramethyl-N",N"-diallylguanidinium bromide onto the surface of 3-mercaptopropyl modified silica. The obtained surface-confined guanidinium ionic liquid silica materials were characterized by elemental analysis, infrared spectroscopy and thermogravimetric analysis, and then packed as a high-performance liquid chromatography column for the evaluation of chromatographic retention behavior. Typical polar compounds were used to evaluate the separation performances, and the changes of retention with water content in mobile phase further suggested the hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography retention mechanism. Moreover, the effect of different chromatographic factors (salt concentration, mobile phase pH, and column temperature) on retention was investigated with a series of compounds as test solutes to gain insights into the retention mechanism. The results indicated that the surface-confined guanidinium ionic liquid stationary phase exhibited a hydrophilic interaction liquid chromatography/anion-exchange mixed-mode retention behavior and possessed promising potential in separating a wide range of compounds as an alternative stationary phase for high-performance liquid chromatography.
