Abstract
As a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel in a molar hydrochloric acid medium, we investigated the potential of Eucalyptus globulus essential oil (EuEO). Through electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization curves, and theoretical methods, including DFT/B3LYP 6-31G (d, p) and Monte Carlo simulations, the interactions between the EuEO components and the steel surface were analyzed. D-Allose, Betulinaldehyde, and Uvaol were identified as the major active compounds in the GC-MS analysis. The experimental results showed that EuEO reached an inhibitory efficiency as high as 97% at a 1 g/L concentration. The findings suggest that EuEO operates as a mixed-type inhibitor, reducing both cathodic and anodic reactions, as well as building up a protective coating on the steel surface. Simulations also confirmed that EuEO molecules function as electron donors and acceptors, enhancing corrosion resistance.

Abstract
Herein, a novel chitosan Schiff base (CS-FGA) as a sustainable corrosion inhibitor has been successfully synthesized via a simple amidation reaction by using an imidazolium zwitterion and chitosan (CS). The corrosion inhibition property of CS-FGA for mild steel (MS) in a 1.0 M HCl solution was studied by various electrochemical tests and physical characterization methods. The findings indicate that the maximum inhibition efficiency of CS-FGA as a mixed-type inhibitor for MS in 1.0 M HCl solution with 400 mg L-1 reaches 97.6 %, much much higher than the CS and the recently reported chitosan-based inhibitors. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), and water contact angle (WCA) results reveal that the CS-FGA molecules firmly adsorb on the MS surface to form a protective layer. The adsorption of CS-FGA on the MS surface belongs to the Langmuir adsorption isotherm containing both the physisorption and chemisorption. According to the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and UV-vis spectrum, FeN bonds presented on the MS surface further prove the chemisorption between CS-FGA and Fe to generate the stable protective layer. Additionally, theoretical calculations from quantum chemical calculation (DFT) and molecular simulations (MD) were performed to reveal the inhibition mechanism of CS-FGA.

Abstract
Four enaminoesters derived from halogenated aniline, with potential anticorrosion activity, were synthesized and tested against carbon steel AISI 1020 in acid medium using 1.0 mol L-1 HCl. The synthesis was demonstrated through the reaction of ethyl acetoacetate with four different amines, in the presence of glacial acetic acid and molecular sieve, using ethanol as solvent for 24 h. The evaluation of the anticorrosive activity was performed using the gravimetric technique and electrochemical methods, such as electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), linear polarization resistance (LPR), and potentiodynamic polarization (PP). Results indicated that the F-EN (Ethyl (2Z)-3-[(4-fluoro-phenyl)-amino]-but-2-enoate) inhibitor had higher corrosion inhibition efficiency, of 98% by mass loss, and 85% by electrochemical techniques. Adsorption obeyed the Langmuir isotherm, thus suggesting that the inhibitors form a monolayer film in metal surface. These results also contributed to the calculations of the physicochemical parameters of
,
, and
, which confirmed the corrosion inhibition when compared to the absence of the inhibitors.

Abstract
The present work investigates the influence of temperature on C38 steel corrosion in a 1 M HCl medium with and without different concentrations of a hydro-alcoholic extract of used coffee grounds (HECG). The potentiodynamic polarization technique and the electrochemical impedance spectroscopy were performed in temperatures ranging from 293.15 to 323.15 K. It was observed that the inhibition efficiency decreased with increased temperature and inhibitor concentration. The HECG adsorption process on C38 steel surface was found to be spontaneous and obeyed to Langmuir isotherm at all studied temperatures. The associated thermodynamic parameters of adsorption led to suggest the occurrence of physical adsorption of the HECG compounds on the C38 steel surface.

Abstract
Persistence may be defined as high sustained yield over multi-harvest. Genetic insights about persistence are essential to ensure the success of breeding programs and any biomass-based project. This paper focuses on assessing the biomass yield persistence for bioenergy purpose of 100 elephantgrass clones measured in six growth seasons in Brazil. To assess the clones' persistence, an index based on random regression models and genotype-ideotype distance was proposed. Results suggested the existence of wide genetic variability between elephantgrass clones, and that the yield trajectories along the harvests generate genetic insights into elephantgrass clones' persistence and G x E interaction. A gene pool that acts over the biomass yield (regardless of the harvest) was detected, as well as other gene pools, which show differences on genes expression (these genes are the major responsible for clones' persistence). The lower and higher clones' persistence was discussed based on genome dosage effect and natural biological nitrogen fixation ability applied to bioenergy industry. The huge potential of energy crops necessarily is associated with genetic insights into persistence, so just this way, breeding programs could breed a new cultivar that fulfills the bioenergy industries.
